Spending the Easter long weekend down on the Bellarine Peninsula. Doing some geocaching, some tourist stuff, and family time. The plan was Queenscliff this afternoon, but the tides seemed wrong for the planned cache. So we thought better of going there with the wind picking up and hearing thunder in the distance. As we came to the Ocean Grove Nature Reserve instead. We probably should have started heading back to the car when we felt the first few drops, but we thought we could finish the Banksia Trail. We were wrong. Two-thirds of the way around, the rain started, and then it bucketed down. By the time we got back to the car, we were all drowned. Didn't stop us collecting 2 mire geocaches in the storm. 999HK also got her 1,000th geocache find here, when she logs them.Very prickly plants. Thanks for the cache, Saltie.Hunter
Taking another walk in this nature reserve to finish what I started, and to collect the new year souvenir. Oh yeah, and it's also a really pretty spot. Had to duck off the trail but then quickly located the goods. TFTC!
Enjoying time in the great outdoors with OutRangerous and grabbing some caches along the way. Signed as ORC. TFTC
A nice day to be out and about today. A beautiful nature reserve that I hadnt been to yet. Thanks for bringing me here. TFTC.
Let’s go streaking they (HQ) said. Well ok….
This months challenge isn’t a favourite of mine anymore but with some strategy it should be achievable.
Today is day 4 of 28
I have looked at the map many times when visiting my dad in Leopold and have wanted to get to this reserve to find the clutch of caches. The kids have gotten to an age where we can go for good walks so today we decided we’d head here for some pre lunch exercise. Apart from the haul of caches we also spotted wallabies, a (dead) possum, several bird species and a bunch of flora that we don’t have up in the north east of Vic. The girls had a great time and we couldn’t have asked for better weather.
All caches were in good nic and found relatively easily.

A lovely walk, and very sheltered at GZ from the wind.
On our way along the Trail, we came across a small brown snake, which was keeping very still in the middle of our pathway. It really did not want to be seen.
Since it was reticent to move, we just encouraged it with the edge of a stick to get off the path, and it disappeared quickly.
Log signed.
Thanks Saltie

Just what I needed for the afternoon a stroll amongst nature. The gaiters went on so did the mozzie spray.
A variety of caches by a variety of CO some easier than others but all eventually found. a pleasant caching experience thanks to all the CO for this series
Had to read a few logs before zooming in on this cache ...it was at this point that i started hearing noises in the Bush, but couldn't see anyone.

A wedding had us staying in Barwon Heads this weekend. We had some spare time this morning so though we'd take the opportunity to grab a couple of caches. This was part of the loop we chose.
A really enjoyable morning was had.
Many thanks to Saltie for placing and maintaining this cache.

Quick find after negotiating some random branches and long grasses.
Log is damp but we were still able to make our mark before replacing everything as found.
(And it totally helps if you pick the right black stump to search around, too!!) TFTC

SueHut only has a few of these. I'm letting her get a bit of a catch-up. Her #7, my #3 for the day.
Thanks heaps, Saltie!

Jinky and John were out on a post election spree. After coffee and Danish pastries at Ket Baker, we headed down to knock off some caches in the reserve. There were a few not tackled last time. Got this one after a quick look. Left a geonickel, TFTC!
Found it! But was just thrown back and not placed back properly. Have hidden it as per hint.
There appears to be a lot of regrowth around here since the fire that made this stump occurred. Tftc.
In all our travels we would not have even thought to travel to this location.
(HaHa). In your dreams, these cachers do.
[:(!] Thanks for an awesome effort.

Todays outing was down along the Bellarine Peninsula, we were finally wheeling in the big 1000 and there were plenty of caches down this way that would help out in the climb to the total. We used to visit this trail a lot but this was our first visit in at least 3 years. Things had changed a bit but we were looking forward to picking up the finds along the trail. The hint was very handy and we had the cache located shortly. Thanks for the hide Saltie
Found with FUF009.
The point of the day was to make it to The Sims family bbq event in the evening.
To fill in the rest of the day we decided to head to Ocean Grove and just do what we wanted.
We found a cache at the Ocean Grove Nature's Reserve but didnt plan to do the whole lot as I didnt think Id be able to do the lot.
Well, we ended up doing the whole thing and I loved it. Fortunately I read that the mozzies were fierce here so we coated ourselves in bug spray but eventually that sweats off so we still got a few hardy little buggers trying for a meal.
I haven't spent too much time in this area but will definitely be pushing to come back as we barely scratched the surface.
Later in the day, we got to the Ocean Grove coastline and saw the ocean and got blown about by the wind.
By the end of the day, I was sunburnt and windburnt. Still happy as a pig in mud. A nice area.
Later in the day we cached around Ceres and Deakin Uni.
All in all a good day.
Thanks to the hiders.

We decides to head down to Ocean Grove then make our way around Geelong and finish off catching up with fellow cachers at the evenings event in Ceres
We were only going to get 1 in this area but the terrain looked ok so we headed around the park and managed to find them all here.
The only things we had trouble with was the mozzies in a couple of areas and the 2 large trees that were down on the West Track. But these just made for an interesting walk.

Another great find, on another great day lovely to be out here thank you for placing
Been out all day hitting the "non-essential" retail now that we have hit our 80% double vax rates. Everyone else was exhausted from their busy day so it was just the geo-kid and I who decided to head out on a whirlwind trip around this lovely park. Lots of clambering over fallen branches and dodging puddles to get to this one. This was find number 3 for the geo-kid for the evening. Thanks Saltie for the cache placement and for bringing us here tonight. The sun was nearly setting over the horizon and the whole place had a really calming feel to it.
The GeoKid was allover this one and had it in hand in no time. The log is pretty damp, we dries the container as best we could and added a couple of little swaps before moving on. TFTC

A great day out for an afternoon walk and a hour and half from home. The day was cool but not wet or windy, so this was a great afternoon to be had amongst the trees and geocaches.
A simple find, although rather uncovered at this location here today.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks for placing this geocache here for us to find today. We have been eyeing this location off for some time, but with the wet weather and risk of mud underfoot we didn't plan the day until recently when we knew the ground would be dry and not too wet in the grasses,
*Overall Experience: 3*

A lovely, brief, afternoon walk to finally close the two gaps that have opened since we were last in the reserve. This was the first smilie we gained today. On to the next now.
As always, shoes were sprayed our shoes before and after the visit - you never know what you might have picked up.
Note to self: Should come here regularly, even if there are no new caches for us to be found!

I've been meaning to come back to the reserve since I found the first group of caches in here and enjoyed the walking tracks. Today I had a bit of spare time and decided to head back in. A nice quick find at this stop, thanks for the cache Saltie.
Found with McAdies and Jelly_bean14.
I had a great time finding this geocache.

We decided to take the afternoon off after having an appointment in Geelong and having worked very hard this week. We needed to shop on the way home, and we needed to get our steps up, so we decided the Ocean Grove Nature Reserve would be a great place to do that. The afternoon was a lovely pleasant temperature, and the likelihood of snakes being active was lowish. The mozzies, on the other hand, were out in attack squadrons. Mr Dromaniax remembers coming here as a kid and enjoying many enjoyable picnics with his family. There has been a lot of new growth, and we went beyond the Black Stump, and then we turned back and found it. We also saw a Black Wallaby who just watched us pass about 2m away before hopping off into the scrub. The cache was in excellent condition. Thank you for this cache Chan 5456
Found on 22/2/21 with tasgoanna. Too busy trying to swat at the mozzies as they were loving my sweat. Thanks
The eldest GeoKid insisted in going after this one and I was happy for her to! We just had to wait for some muggles to go past first.
