Great camouflage & a nice spot to park across the road. Thanks for this cache & the impressive trail.
Apologies for the generic logs, but individuals would be unmanageable!Today was set aside to make a start on the Dog's Head Loop. The puzzles had been solved quite some time ago so we were looking forward to turning them and the other caches into smilies. It was a great day for caching, clear skies, temperatures in the high teens and little or no wind. We didn't take the COs advice and work in a clockwise direction, but that was because we were starting out from Branxton and will be moving on to Maitland later. It is a fabulously organized series to date. Reasonable places to pull over in most instances, great sized caches with excellent hints and obvious regular maintenance. Congratulations and well done!We had a couple of DNFs and an enjoyable if busy day. More to come!Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache kingfisher_au.**SKI Pair****
A straightforward find here on my 4th visit to this part of the world. It seems I started this trail more than 4 years ago and was last here early last year .... clearly, this is a trail that just keeps on giving! Thanks for this hide and for the series kingfisher_au.
Day 3 of our trip to The Great Cattle Dog Muster in Muswellbrook…
Having left my partner and our Australian Stumpy Tailed Cattle Dogs (which are sadly missing from The Dogs Head Trail) at the Muster, PirateLinda and I have made the pilgrimage to Frying Pan…
Now returning to Muswellbrook, collecting random, and not so random caches along the trail…
I’d done some preparation at home, and so this was a park’n’grab…
Thanks kingfisher_au
Left Keep Calm and Go Geocaching TB to carry on…

I solved this a long time ago and came looking for it today. Thanks for a great puzzle and hide.
TFTC and the puzzles that Mighty Minions and I have solved. We had a fun day but all fun days must come to an end. This is the last cache we did together on Friday. I dropped Mighty Minions off at Paterson and I headed home to a nice dinner of Barramundi with garlic lemon butter sauce.
techsavvy9 and I met up for a great day out caching today . The weather was good and we had a really excellent time. We had worked on solving some of the dogs head puzzles together, so were keen to head out today to find some of those and a few others. Thanks for the cache kingfisher_au tnln replaced as found sl
Sometimes these puzzles are hard, sometimes not. Can't honestly remember with this one.! Easy find once we were there.
Walked right past this one, checked everything else before finally getting cache in hand.
Thanks for the geoart

On my way north to join in on the GCNSW Hunter Expedition event. As I hadn't made a find in the Dungog LGA, I figured I'd have a go at a few puzzles this morning. Managed to solve nine before heading off, but skipped searching for a few due to parking difficulties as I was driving in the wrong direction. The rest of the dogs head will have to wait

Left Sydney with It’s_Dozzie and GeoMonkeyGirl then met with EverestHigh to tackle the Dog’s Head Trail.
I absolutely love dogs ! Large, small, young, old, I love them all. I’ve worked with dogs, volunteered with dogs, had close to 50 as foster pets, plus a few as permanent family members too. All different breeds and all wonderful.
There’s still a few breeds on this trail that I didn’t know.
Such a fun power trail, if the caching wasn’t enough to keep me entertained the dog photos certainly were.
Another clever puzzle

Today was our first chance to find some caches with the lifting of the pandemic lockdown, so decided on a good old drive in the country to chase some more strays, catching 50 before we decided to call it a day. What a great way to say goodbye to a lockdown! Near cyclonic wind gusts made for some nervous moments under lots of big gums....
Again, thanks for all the hard work you put in to this fun trail kingfisher!
Yep - we got to this one without a pen..... used the GPS to take a photo, as had left the phone behind too....

Today I spent my second day on the Dog’s Head caches. Day one was 8 months ago. Today I found 62-100 and all puzzle caches ( eye of the dog). The weather was perfect. Thankyou Kingfisher_au for placing and maintaining the Dog’s Head. I especially thankyou for the puzzles , I really enjoyed them. I hope it won’t be 8 months until I get back.
Now that i got internet i can start logging again. Found it even without internet
hen there were all the rage Mrs Shifter was very good at them and still seems to have the knack of seeing them quickly. Cache was located quickly, this is where MR Shifter picked up Mrs Shifter for another short stint in the car.
Thanks for the hide kingfisher_au.
Thanks for the hide kingfisher_au.
I had to use the internet to solve this, even though I supposedly have good eyesight. Along with the puzzle, I also had to stand well back at GZ to get an idea of where this was hiding.
Thanks for going to the effort of a phenomenal geoart/puzzle trail in beautiful areas of the country. TFTC

Having solved these caches a long time ago it was time for a trip with teamMerlin and TARDIS 0061 up north to finish of some more of the Eyes of the Dog caches and a few others while we are up that way

Found with Shaneo58's help doing some caching around the Branxton area mainly on the dog trail. It was good that most caches weren't to far from the car as the tempretures was in the high twenties, even tough this wasn't always the best (to close to the road).
Log signed and caches replaced as found.

PS: Apologies for generic log. I thought these logged while in the field, but due to poor signal it seems many didn't. I tried to add something extra for each one, but now I can't remember what I wrote.

Well 2020 has been a relatively slow year on the caching front due to COVID-19. If it wasn't for that it would have been a trip to the USA and Geocaching's 20th year celebrations.
However the crew got back together and The Rats, Hoojar and I teamed up for a few days caching up around the Hunter area. First it was to finish off some of the older OZGM series caches then up into the Watagans for more. Most of Saturday was spent tackling the great Dogs Head Trail then on Sunday it was down into Newcastle city for some great caches.
This was another find on our trip.

COVID has really put a dampener on this year’s caching ability, but it hasn't stopped my enthusiasm to get out and find a cache whenever possible. So, it was with excitement that I was keen to catch up with Steeba and Hoojar for our first caching weekend of the year.
We targeted a number of powertrails in the Central Coast and Hunter region over our 3-day caching frenzy. The weekend threw up a bit of everything, including a plethora of finds, mountain bush bashing, coastal caching, weather that varied from beautiful to bizarre, sleeping under the stars, some close calls with the flora and fauna, lovely local hospitality and most of all, a great time away with my mates”.
Thanks to all the C.O’s for placing and maintaining their caches for us to find. Apologises for the generic log but with so many finds I couldn’t personalise every one of them.
After a chilly night and another early start we tackled our biggest day, the “Dog’s Head” trail north of Maitland saw us meandering through the picturesque countryside. It was here we found some cleverly crafted containers which added to a great day. By time nightfall we’d met up with Big Matt & MV for a lovely meal at the Paterson Hotel.
Thanks

With restrictions starting to ease in our Covid World, it was decided that 2020 caching really need to kick up a gear, and so a plan was set in motion for The Rats, Steeba and myself to head to the Newcastle and Hunter region. There were a few trails, power trails, and Lab Caches that would be hitting our radars, along with a milestone for The Rats. We headed off on Thursday evening and turned for jome on Sunday afternoon. A wonderful long weekend was had, and our cache finds topped 450 for the trip. All in all it was a great success.
The caches were excellent. Some indeed were amazing, and favourite points have been awarded. The company, as always, was faultless. The weather was varied. We had sun, rain, wind, colder, warm, more wind... A bit of everything! We managed to find a few nice spots to camp, and enjoyed the company of Big Matt and Marcus Vitruvius for dinner at a local establishment on Saturday evening.
Please forgive the boiler-plate log, I assure you it is no reflection on the caching experience of our few days away. Thank you to all cache owners for their hides.
Cheers

A fun series of puzzles with quite a few clever ideas. I know many people love their fur babies, but I am definitely not a fan. I could get Grumpy(TM) but that would detract from the enormous effort that kingfisher_au has made to set out the whole series - a very impressive effort!
Headed up tonight and managed to escape the rain and make finds on all 17 of the Eyes of the Dog. Doing this series late at night presented few problems as there were plenty of places to stop nearby and very little traffic.

We're still going down this picturesque road discovering easy cute caches thanks kingfisher_au
MummyPenny, our favourite hound and I came up to the Hunter for wines and caches, particularly an attack on the dog's head. These puszles used to be easy when the eyes were younger. The hide took a little longer to find, blending in so well.. Thanks kingfisher_au.
I have to admit I’m more of a cat person than a lover of dogs but today I set out from Port Macquarie to find the dogs head trail. Who knew there were so many breeds?! What a picture perfect, gorgeous day to be out caching. Paddocks were full of calves, lambs and baby goats, with stunning mountain backdrops. A good mix of hide locations in all sorts of containers made the trail interesting. Finding suitable parking on the side of narrow roads with 100km/h speed zones not so fun. Attacked 1-110 and the mystery eyes today, so will return another day to finish the trail. Thanks kingfisher_au Man my eyes struggle with these. Was much better at them when I was a kid!
A puzzle thankfully I can solve online.
I missed the last cache and luckily picked here to turn around. A quick find first.

I joined a trip to Maitland with Aquilus1, dty73, Tankengine, Barb2e, Kitty Katch & Joolay. The weekends main game was to do the dogs head series, but along the way we did some old caches around Sydney and did as many Maitland caches as time allowed. The return journey was via some old caches and some challenges that may or may not be met one day.
Day 2 was the dogs head series and three other series around Kurri Kurri. The R&D caches and many other Maitland caches are absolutely fantastic containers showing great creativity with new tools.
Thanks for the cache kingfisher_au

A four day caching trip up around Maitland collecting a number of caches of interest to suit everyone along for the fun. A lovely area, very scenic, green and lots of historic locations. Also some great caching to be done while in the area as well as on our way there and home.
The 'Dogs head' was a main focus of the trip, and took us the the best part of the day along with a few smaller trails and a few as we passed but a lovely scenic area to spend the day in. Most caches were straight forward finds, a few took a little search and others are great 3D printed designs or LARGE! Great trail through a great area, thanks for the cache kingfisher_au.

We camped at the rest area in Branxton with wazza9 and Nana Nel and ventured on this trail together. We did the majority on day one which proved to be a good move as the rain came in for day 2. We enjoyed the hides and information about the various dogs, great job on putting out this trail. Thanks to kingfisher_au for hiding this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area.
TFTC,
Day 2 caching around the area with Liz and Bruce & Nana nel.
It must have rained all night and after a good nights sleep we are out to finish the Dogs Head Trail today together with plenty of other caches along the way across several towns.
Great to have such a variety of caches.
It's raining lightly and we are getting wet but we are still having fun and barking our way to the end by lunch.
Thanks to Kingfisher_au for providing a trail where we could work together with other cachers and enjoy each others company while building numbers and learning about so many different breeds.

We learnt about the 'Dogs Head Trail' as one of our TB's was placed into a cache on the trail. After seeing it we just had to come and do it. Who knew that there is so many types of dog. The senery in the area is fabulous, we saw loads of cows and horses but not much else in the way of animal life. Now for the caches
Roads - Very busy
Farmers - friendly and interested
Co-ordinates - Really great
Hints - we used these and had a laugh at the humour that was used, it certainly kept you interested
Hides - Easy - loved the camo tape it really helps the cache containers to blend in and if the CO had wanted to these could have been hidden a lot harder
Parking - Great, OK, not so great and down right horrible. In saying this the cache owner does tell you when you need to be aware in the hints. It just means that you will get a little more exercise walking to the cache from a safe parking spot. The CO is looking after you and making certain you get your exercise. You may need to climb, either up or down, to reach the cache. You may choose to climb down when you do not need to this is, it is all up to the indiviual.
A huge thanks to the CO, what a massive job this would have been to find the places to hide the caches, sort co-ords, write the cache discriptions and now to maintain them. You asked us to leave a favorite for the dog that we feel is our most liked type of dog, for me it is the german shepherd and for hubby it is the bull mastiff.

Aaaagh!! We had planned a very long list of caches to find today with ilook4geo, but for about two hours after we started the run, the GPS would simply not play nicely with the satellites. It was very frustrating and we had to get there using other methods.
Eventually it came good and performed properly and the caching started in earnest. Each cache had its log signed with initials GP2 and ilg and all was put back into place. Thanks go to kingfisher_au for creating this series of caches and the fun puzzles included.

Dog’s Head has now become one of my new favourite trails!! So much creativity and diversity throughout. Thank you so much kingfisher_au for your time, energy and resources.
Tackled the trail (and some smaller surrounding ones) as part team Capital Crunchers (fitzy_1965, minniek, specimenX, Nibletricecakes, Joolay and Roostaman) on our Maitland long weekend adventure. So glad we made the trek it has been truly delightful! As an added bonus we all hit a milestone (mine being 3000) AND racked up the most number of finds we have ever found in a day!! 310! An all round epic adventure. Thanks so much everyone.

All caches where found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned. Logs were either signed or stamped as Capital Crunchers, CC, Kapital Krunchers or KK.

Many muggles on the roads today and many good hides.
Logs signed or stamped as Canberra Crushers, CC and sometimes KK.
Thanks for the cache and the excellent series kingfisher_au,

18,906. Found as part of the Capital Crunchers Team (fitzy_1965, minniek, specimenX, nibletricecakes, Joolay and Roostaman) during the Canberra Invasion of Maitland region over the long weekend.
This was the main event. We were really looking forward to doing the Dog's Head Trail as well as the smaller trails in the region. We had an absolutely epic day of caching, with all of us setting milestone and achieving a new finds in a day record (310). All of the caches were found in good condition, signed and returned into its hidey hole. The 3D printed containers were a real highlight as well - fantastic effort by the CO.
The puzzles were a nice touch - look great on the geo-art and they were (mostly) fun to solve !
Thanks kingfisher_au !! We really appreciate you putting out and maintaining these caches.

Time for us to hit the Dogs Head Trail! An enjoyable drive around the trail collecting the caches and marveling at the 3D printed creations which were easy finds resulted in an epic day of caching. Signed or stamped as Capital Crunchers, CC or KK (for some early finds) to save log space.
Thanks for the hide, kingfisher_au

This has me stuffed for awhile. What I was using was not working but finally I found something that did and there it was.
This is an awesome trail. Sometimes the parking left me wondering but it was later explained that some were meant to be walked too. The effort in this trail is huge and a big thanks to the big effort in setting this up.
Up in Maitland with Nibletricecakes, Fitzy1965, MinnieK and Specimen X, to do the Dogs Head. We will go by the name of Capital Crunchers. We have also met up with Roosterman who is joining us today. Really looking forward to the challenge and getting the geoart today. Unless otherwise stated cache in good condition. Thanks for the huge effort in placing these.
Our logs are signed CC, KK, Capital Crunchers or stamped depending who wrote them.
Apologies for the generic logs.

G'Day My Fellow Geocacher,
How are you my fellow Geocacher? I’m DARKSIDEDAN aka Daniel from Canberra, Australia and I have had the pleasure of finding your Geocache during my travels as a Geocacher. I signed the logbook in your cache either Darksidedan or Darkside or DSD. This was one epic series and I thank you for placing as well as maintaining this epic trail. I have added your cache to my growing list of “Found It” logs. Please forgive the Generic Logs for this Series.
I HAVE GIVEN TWO FAV POINTS FOR THIS SERIES ONE FOR THE FIRST AND ONE FOR THE LAST CACHE. WHAT AN EPIC SERIES.
I love discovering Geocaches, Trackable items and collecting Pathtags. I hope that you enjoy Geocaching as much as I do. For me geocaching is a way of life and when I am not Geocaching, I am thinking of Geocaching.
Here is a little information about me. I have been geocaching since 2015. At the time of finding this cache I have over 6000 finds plus 350 hides. I am the creator of the “Duck Dip” Lab Cache that won 2nd Place for the Australian Capital Territory in the State Vs State - Battle of the Lab Caches at the OzGeoMuster - The Gong Mega 2019 in Wollongong, Australia. In 2019, I won the right to place a Virtual 2.0 Cache from Geocaching.com, but I have not placed it yet. I am just trying to find somewhere that is worthy of a Virtual Cache.
Now let’s talk Pathtags. Currently I have over 4600 Pathtags in my collection plus about 500 Etagz. I currently have two of my own Pathtags (45762 & 46950) with another one in the works.
I have included with my Found It log an Original and One of a Kind, Geocaching poem that I have written. I hope that everyone who reads it gets some enjoyment out of it.
Geocache Poem by DARKSIDEDAN
My endless search goes on and on
Looking for treasures of every kind
Always chasing just one more find
Putting past DNF’s out of my mind
I step out into the world outside,
Seeking what is hidden from me
What size, shape or form will it be?
Only time will tell, I can’t wait to see
Will I find my prize at the end?
I will search in the failing light and cold
Filling with despair having looked everywhere
Where is this thing that gives my life pleasure?
Looking all around from every angle
I read the logs and check the hint
I curse out loud as I walk in circles
Screaming the bloody thing it not there
As time flies by and I fail to see,
Never once stopping to realize
It always been there before my eyes
No need for sorrow, there’s the Geocache.

I am currently writing very detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC called "The Author". This Badge challenges geocaches to write logs with an average length of more than one hundred words per log. As of the 25th September 2019 my average Found It log is 165 words per log. I would like to get all my logs up to more than 200 words per log but I will have to wait and see how I go. Currently I am just trying to get my average up by finding and logging as many geocaches as I can. My apologies to anyone who finds my lengthy logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain the highest level with this challenge. After more than 6,000 geocaches (which includes all cache finds up and including this cache, I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task very soon. Progress has been better than anticipated.

The dog trail was achieved today with The_Tritonz working as a team we knocked over the entire series having a blast the whole way around. Lunching at Gresford, we refueled our bodies and continued on our way. We even done mini CITO’s near the caches as we signed the logs.
Thanks kingfisher_au for the Dog Head Series.

While up in NSW on holidays enjoying a fun Lighthouse Mega, we headed further North to catch up with family and try our luck with the Dog Series, one that we have had our eye on since publication.
The puzzles were solved without much fuss except for one and boy did that do our head in....lucky for the kind CO who put us out of our misery allowing for a 100% success rate today as we tackled them head on in the company of Tack123.
Thanks kingfisher_au for the awesome effort in putting this series together, we had a blast today/tonight.

Singleton Day 2 staying at the Showgrounds
Today we have teamed up with Grub Fred & Shaneo58 we have signed the log as DIGS as a combination of our names & obviously it's what dogs like to do.
We did a small number in the afternoon leaving to do 100 the next day.
We enjoyed our drive around the farming land, surprised at how busy the country roads were.
The effort to place this trail & to provide information on so many different species of dogs is an enormance project. Some nice fantastic plastic containers noticed as well.
Thankyou for placing this cache kingfisher_au

With a long weekend in Canberra, FurfacesLL #1 and myself decided it was time to get away and find a bit of warmth as the cold makes its way into Canberra. We decided to head up to Maitland as neither of us had been there before for Geocaching. We had our primary target set to complete the new Dog geo-art series, and we managed to do that within a single day, so we had plenty of time up our sleeves for other things. We enjoyed the series with the different containers and hide styles along the way. We decided to add a drive upto collect Frying Pan and also included another older cache on Mount Sugarloaf for the journey home.
Had this one solved before heading off for our weekend away. Apologies for the generic logs
Thanks for the cache hide kingfisher_au and thanks FFLL#1 for another trip out and about for some quantity AND quality caching

After meeting the CO at a pre Mega event in Canberra at the Lakes in Gungahlin we decided to have a look at the dog trail that he talked about. So we set to work to solve all the puzzles in hopes of taking a trip to complete this series in the near future.
That day arrived a plan was hatched to spend a long weekend for Canberra up in Maitland collecting the dog trail and others around the area with Rapidlywild.
We headed out early (well early for us) and completed the trail in a day with no DNF's which was nice. Lovely country side to look at in this area and lots of various hides and sizes of caches.
Thanks for a great trail kingfisher_au you sure have spent a few hours putting this one together and thanks for the great weekend away and laughs Rapidlywild.
Sorry for the generic logs.

Having met the CO at the Clear Waters Mega Event and enjoyed a couple of great days out geocaching together we had been hoping we would have the time and opportunity to undertake this series of caches sometime over the last two weeks of our current visit to Australia. Two days ago we had started the Dogs Head Trail and completed up to number 50, but had run out of daylight hours to be able to continue, then yesterday morning we had returned to where we had left off to continue with another short section of the trail before diverting off to head up north to find the Frying Pan cache. Now back again today it was time to find some more of the puzzle caches before continuing on with the next section of the trail. What a great series, with an amazing amount of information on the A to Z of dog breeds on the various cache pages - most of them dog breeds we didn't even know existed! We were impressed by the many different types of hide, the clever 3D printed cache holders and the large variety of containers, all of them nicely camouflaged to match their locations. The clues were fun to read and we liked the themed dog rubbers found in many of the caches. Many thanks to the CO for the incredible amount of time, effort and cost involved in laying the extensive trail and for the clever use of the roads to create the geo-art. Mr Team GBS is really at this type of puzzle and so it wasn't long before I was writing down the numbers he was calling out. The cache itself was a nice quick find once at Ground Zero today. Thanks so much for the cache and a favourite point for the puzzle. Greetings from Zimbabwe
Big Sunday effort around maitland. Reading all about dog, but not seen a dog all day. Lovely countryside to drive and great weather. Joint forces wirh J+J.AU for the day and three makes caching a lot easier.

Well only a couple of hours work this morning and we had the Dog Trail done and dusted. Although my knee was much better this morning, geowife did the bulk of the work on the caches, however you would think that doing over 100 caches in the bush, putting your hands in areas not ment for hands that she would have overcome her fear of putting your hands in places that you shouldn't, but NO, she still dances around, taking deep breaths and a quick grab at the container, although her aim is much better now and she can get it on the first attempt.
A great series Keiran (Kingfisher AU), now to go over the series and award fav points, we have a few banked so will part with a few.
Thanks for the hints when needed, especially for the crisis msg last night so that we could do the last puzzle. Overall all containers were in excellant condition, with only a couple previously recorded that have been cracked by over zealous cachers placement of the rocks in their haste to get to the next cache.
Hopefully you have more planned for this area as there is more than enough room to place other caches in between, maybe a CAT SERIES.

One last day on the Dogs Head trail to grab the last 70 or so. Today I had both kids but no wife (she was very clear that staying home was more fun than 70 drivebys) - but the kids and I had a great time and they were very proud of their efforts.
What a fabulous series this is. There’s so much effort is setting this up - people sometimes forget that as they power through numbers but it’s important that we take the time to say thanks.
Made sure I solved all the eye puzzles earlier this week too. There’s some great puzzles among them and definitely a few FPs earned.
This puzzle was so much easier with a TOTT. Ever since my detached retina in 2000 I can’t do these with any consistency manually any more.
This was a quick find as we headed west from ears to nose. TNLN TFTC
