I thought I better drag myself off the couch, and give something back to the community.
My first look into the hedge, I noticed a cardboard box, cans, coke bottles etc. Accessed hedge from other side, and loaded bag up. Even climbed, expecting to see more, but just a little cave among the hedge top, pity there's a cache nearby. Look forward to hearing where the guides donate the found $50 note.
Thanks Geoff, a great event, thanks for the icecream cake, (and the recipe)...

We had a unit camp this weekend, and because our leaders are also cachers we all come along to do some community service.
One of us found a $50 note that we donated to the SPCA

Hmmm, we have a Guide Camp this weekend, but can we fit this cleanup into the programme? Yes, we could! But only because the rain came and stayed so the tents were too wet to pack away.
With permission given from parents, we picked the girls into the leaders' cars and headed in. Gloved up and with bags for the trash the girls headed into the bushes and the hedges.
Then came the little voice from in a bush "I've found 50 bucks!" we thought she was joking, but out she came waving a dirty, but intact, $50 note! Where there is one, there could be more - so other girls dove in and looked for more. Rubbish yes, cash no. That $50 has een donated to the Otatara Guides favourite charity - the SPCA.
Before long it was time to head back to camp, but not before a group pic and sharing of food. Thanks for the icecream cake, hope you enjoyed the last of the GirlGuide biscuits.
Thanks for the smilie southlandicebergs.

After an overnight girl guiding camp.... we cooked up a storm for lunch in the rain.... yes in the rain!!!@!
So with a yummy lunch in our tummy we tidied up the dishes and packed away the gas cookers.
Let's go and do our bit for the environment and pick up other peoples rubbish.
The girls had a great time doing their part for the community.
Thanks the Southlandicebergs
For the cito event

So was good to help do our bit for the environment .

There's nothing like other peoples' trash, other peoples' money and sugar overloaded no bake treats to draw oodles of peeps and kiddyboos together on a damp Autumn afternoon. I don't always update cache pages prior to cache trips and after the rain that started on the previous night foretold this event was not going to be a walk in the park with jandals and shorts - I dug out the long boots from the closet. First to arrive at the GZ and peeked behind the hedge to spy a couple of members huddling in their cars waiting for the starters pistol. Spied a couple of tins in the easiest (driest) places for collection and once the troop started arriving, bags were soon in hand to start the Cito. Autumn had made the sighting of the most obvious rubbish easy but wet dripping foliage made for a wery muddy, sopping wet Quietlion collecting two full sacks of rubbish *and a few wide opened eyes*, a traffic cone to add to the other one, a full baggy of tins for fund raising but NO CASH! or suspicious tuppaware containers tucked away. [P](https://coord.info/GC32K3B)athfinders and [O](https://coord.info/GC209P5)takaro park (archived) had locked the area to any other caches at one time. Usually any cash I find on my cito's goes toward FTF treats, *there have been a few of them or no dots left in 30mi*. I hadn't been this muddy! since my [FTF](https://coord.info/GC7AEQ9) on the Hardest Geocache and normally I would keep a full change of clothes in the pony but hadn't been repacked since my Easter caching holiday. A quick trip back to the carpark doffed on what dry clothes were stashed away in the boot and arrived as the last crumbs of the NNSW treat were hoovered up by the gathered community. 42 peeps minus one or two 'did not show's made a resounding effort to make the Doon st greenbelt that little bit more tidier and while the others left for warmer premises after their wee 'community' huddle, I stayed behind to help the CO pack the RAV4 and return the traffic cones to the nearby cordon. The fire plug used for the Fire Dept exercises must have needed a valve repaired in the middle of the greenway. While there wasn't a council chit to depose of the mountain of trash, over the next week - bags will be squirreled away in the bin, yeah a 'don't ask-don't tell' supply of strong sacks comes in handy Smile. Thanks for organising your first event for a bronze badge, first published 2019 Season [1](https://www.geocaching.com/souvenir/?guid=199ece10-cbf9-4f8d-88bd-624f627a503e) souvenir and a ruby gem badge for a long time coming reward for me creeping towards another notch on my blue belt. See you's that are showing up to MrsH's QPark event later on and Mrs&Mrs Mystery night next month since there isn't any mystery caches left to solve. [TB](https://coord.info/TB2C30N) since been logged out by captain to travel elsewhere.
