Quick find

26-Apr-24
I decided to take Friday off work to make it a four day weekend. The plan was to explore around Barossa and Clare valleys. Im not much of a wine drinker but there sure are lots of geocaches in these parts. I brought my bike along so I could tackle some of the many caches along bike tracks. A little cool through out the day but the sun was shining which always makes me happy. Yes I am a John Denver Fan. Numbers collected and cache was in hand without problems. Thank you Hurtle, for placing Used 2B a Church Micro #0037 for the geocaching community.# # SmileSmile #14882 SmileSmile # #

At around Clare for a few days. Tftc.

Quick find after a nearby FTF chase. The needed multi for this calendar day, and if I remember rightly, this cache helps with another “360° from home” loop too. An early entry in the series, and an unusual colour for a church! The info is legible, the coords are great, and the cache is in good condition. Thanks for this one Hurtle.

The cache was found in the first place we looked. Thanks for placing a fun cache guys. We do love your work. We signed the logbook. Of course we did that is way we play this game. Cache in pretty good condition for the cache age.

I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count.

This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and a Samsung S8. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs...

Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.

Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke für den Cache. Gracias por el caché. Bedankt voor de cache. Kiitos kätköstä. Zikomo posungira. Terima kasih untuk cache. Hvala cache. Köszönöm a cache. Nga mihi mo te keteroki. Dankie vir die kas.

Good thing my Mrs Thismechanican was here, otherwise I would have walked away from it. My phone had me 3m away. Hers, being the newer phone, plonked us right on top of it. Cache all good considering the amount of water that has been running across the road.

The Non Wangaratta Event Tour 2021! Razz
Covid has postponed the Mega in Victoria until January but leave had been granted for AnyMules to attend with me and Bushfire. So Anymules and I went on a tour to Eyre Peninsular and mid north South Australia instead whilst Bushfire joined us in spirit only as covid meant he couldn't come here either. Big Grin Not needing anything for my yearly goals I hoped I didn't add too many to the DNFs [B)]Cool

Day 6: Time to head home, caching as we go.
Another Used 2B church micro - our eighth for the day! Razz It was indeed a nice quick multi on a day for multicaches. Smile

Only one of the three goals from last year achieved. Twisted So once again trying and fill my calendar with multi-caches and complete loop 11 again this year. [^] For my third goal I will try and get my DNF numbers from over fifty to single digits. Cool That should keep me busy again this year! [:o)]

***Thanks Hurtle for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. *** Big Grin

After traipsing around Western Queensland for 4 1/2 weeks then having to head to Northern Territory then SA to try and get back home that way due to border closures.
After escaping from NT to SA I was spending a few days in SA before heading back to lockdown in Victoria.
Staying at Quorn for a couple of nights and after ditching the van in the caravan park it was time to try and find all of the caches around here and also the ones on the way back to Stirling North.
A lot easier to pull over with out a van.
Forget to log these last few caches when I got home so here I go.

Thanks Hurtle TFTC.

Full time nomads since 2014. Still tootling around the country trying to avoid Covid hotspots.

Back in SA for harvest work. Spending a few days in Kapunda before heading to Yorke Peninsula.

Headed out to explore some back roads today before the forecast rain. Boy the crops look good around here. Some of the dry weather roads are only just drying out from the recent downpours! Lots of mud around but we managed to avoid most of it. Although we are going to look up a carwash for tomorrow. Wink

Data collection for this multi was straightforward and coordinates which matched the checksum were calculated quickly. Then it was a short distance to GZ where accurate coordinates led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Hurtle for the cache.

Day 1
It just wouldn't be a holiday with out grinding a few more of this church mirco's out. quick solve and find.

found with Mogni and Jacknor. We where heading up Carrieton for a couple of days and then on to the Flinders Rangers for 5 days. The plan was to find as many of the church multi's as we could going up and then bright and early the next day head off to the " Bendleby Ranges " 4 x 4 tracks. Then clear the next section of multi's between Carrieton and Rawnsley Station and of course a few stray trads that would help Jacknor's jasper grid. A straight week of over 30 degrees meant less hiking than planned but we still got to the top of Rawnsley Bluff as well as some other smaller hikes. The Rawnsley station 4 x 4 track was completed and by then it was time to decamp and start the drive home. Stopped at orroroo and cleared the town out before going back to the church multi grind. All caches that where found that were brittle or damaged were replaced and extra logs added to those caches that the scroll was full or almost full, except for nano's. Nano's are evil spawn and you can do your own maintanence on them.

Find 3228

Today I was invited by FeatherWaite and e.gregory to join them on a trip to the Barossa Valley.

Little did I know that the intended route would be via Stockport, Hamely Bridge up to Clare by the back roads, joining the highway at Watervale. Then back to Kapunda via Mintaro, Saddleworth and Marrabel.

The closest we got to the Barossa Valley was the Sturt Highway north of Nurioopta on the way home.

Collected the information, completed the calculation a went and found the cache.

Thanks to Hurtle for the cache.

28-Dec-20
Today Bob from Elsewhere, FeatherWaite and I headed north from Adelaide to find some caches. We were mainly targeting multis, but also found a few puzzle caches and some Traditionals. We covered a fairly large area from Hamley Bridge, up to Clare, then back to Kapunda via Marrabel.

Most of the multis were short and quite straightforward and the puzzles had been solved in preparation beforehand.

The weather was nice and mild, which made for a great day for caching. Despite it being a public holiday, the roads weren’t too busy, there weren’t a lot of people about around most GZs, which made things a bit easier.

Thanks Hurtle for the cache.

A couple of days away with The White Dog Gang .

The bikes were bought along and we did the Rattler, the N E series and a few of the Reisling Trail. Plus any that were near the roads we travelled along.

Today I had a early start to get to Clare for the Breakfast Club. It was pretty nippy when I arrived in Clare at 7.59am. The breakfast cafe served up a tremendous veggie brekkie that I thoroughly enjoyed which set me up perfectly for a big day of caching. My goal was to collect 50 caches/labs for the day. Sadly a few dnfs and arriving at Nuriootpa too late for the labs meant I had to make do with 43 finds. I also set myself a challenge of 10 multis for the day which due to the number of abandoned churches was easily achieved and enjoyed finding nicely hidden caches with check sums!
Great day out, loads of walking and nice caches found. Thanks to all the CO for contributing to me being in my happy place all day.
Quick calcs and find of multi no 7 for the day. Another non micro in a micro series. TFTC hurtle

Another day caching out north with Doctor Owl, sushilord and SA Sewer Rats. It started out quite cool but by mid afternoon it was quite warm and I even worked up a sweat at one cache. Stopped here to gather some numbers, then did the calculations and a short walk later and the owl had retrieved the cache. Big Grin

We used divine light to read the divine sign. The we followed the arrow that was back lit with divine light to find the cache. Light assisted in the log signing ceremony.

Found with H423L on an epic trip up to find Pluto (GCG32B) - the furthest known planet at the time of TeamAstro's solar system inception. There was dust, flies, more dust, no mud and a million stars at night. There were no tyre issues. The geocaching led us to spectacular spots that were out of the way - and a few spots that were popular as it was the school holidays. We cached a few caches with others and it was good to see our friends on the trail.

Thanks to Hurtle and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet!

So Purrfect Di and I got up and went for a look at this cute little church with the interesting pentalpha on front.
I wonder if the locals know the double meaning of this way up!
A fuzzy one this, is it still a church, but not used, it has a cemetery, or is there some strange cult here...
Not listed on the UCA website, so I guess Mr P ain't too busy anymore.
Thank you for hiding another fun cache Hurtle Cool

PS - the original calculated coordinates based on
>>> calculate the following... _S35_ 13.ABC E138 52.DEF <<<
had us somewhere near Strathalbyn.

We took a punt on a small variation, and ended up much closer Wink

Sadly beaten to the first by Ned Kelly's mob...
