This has been in the GPS for years and I did bits of the series at different times.
In the area today and this showed up in the GPS so set about finding it.
Once I widened my rudimentary navigation calculations I found the cache. The cache is there and in good condition.
The cache container is period correct I think and a great piece of history in many ways.
Thank you grugthethug for placing this cache.

Time for this series to be wrapped up - too many muggles! Thanks for all the fun
I will be archiving this series in 1 weeks time - please let me know if you would like more time to find them. Maintenance has become too much of an issue with constant muggle interference. If you have all the clues for the final please message me and I can grant you the find.
I was at the sports centre today on a bus driving job, so took a walk to find some local caches.
Looking at the caching map last night, I performed the necessary calculations to find GZ to save time today
On arrival, I mistook the location and had an "eek, that's not a T3.0, before paying better attention and ascending a much more manageable specimen.
Love the container. It took a little effort to hold on and open it to reveal the logbook.
Signed and reset.

So interesting can't wait to do the rest of the series, spooky but very cool. Tried to climb tree but just a bit too high for me. Awesome container though, thanks heaps
I didn't set out to find this one but as the other two caches in the area were quick finds, I had some time to do some calculations and have a good hunt for the alien artefacts. Using the hint provided I was able to spot the cache from a distance. Climbing the tree was fun. Getting the cache out of the outer container was challenging but I got there in the end. Thanks grugthethug for Alien Artefacts 2 - Annihilation.
Sorry it has taken so long to get to this - I have been out of action for a few months. Cache replaced and good to go
Today we found Alien Artifacts 2 - Annihilation on our travels. We have been to No Worries’ first event of the day and these were close by so we selected them for the intervening time between events. We were expecting to be a bit height challenged but the Chief just reached up, presently the cache may not be quite as originally placed.
Thanks grugthethug for being part of our geocaching fun.

Nice quick find. Enjoyed the tree climb and clue collected for the series final. Hadn't been back here for quite some time. Found in company of Ahomburg, BecknMonts, EarthboundChief.

Arrived there and notice the cache was on the ground, so I picked and put it back. suggest that you better check with it. Found your cache grugthethug, thank you so much for placing it.
This was so much fun to find, I didn’t use any maths or google maps, I used a waypoint and walked the other way!!! But an awesome container and an awesome hunt, I didn’t see a hint in the logbook tho? Thanks for the cache )) visited some trackables

Out caching today before having to head up to Clayton to catch up with mates for dinner. All in all had a nice day with no real DNF's today. But all of this came to an abrupt halt when driving home from dinner as my car broke down.
Anyways thanks for the cache.

It took us a while to find the right tree.
It had fallen from it’s proper place so we didn’t need to climb to find it, but we put it back up, so there was a little climbing involved then.
Really cool box!

Ahead of my visit to this park today I looked at the requirements for this multi and did the calcs from home, using geocaching tools. It was very damp around gz — including ducks in the puddles. Approached from one direction to find, er, puddles. Circled around to approach from the other side, which was much drier. Stood at the bottom of the tree and looked up. Hmm. Hadn’t noted this aspect of the cache and wasn’t really up to a climb today (ha!) so will have to return another day. Hope to check out more of the series too.
Bit of an adventure getting there but some basic geo maths and a good grip helped! Tftc.
Haven't found number 1, but we used a useful Google maps tool to help us find the location of the second device. Tftc
My caching skills are only a week old now, but Annihilation is the closest Mystery Cache to my house so last night I was determined to solve the coordinates. I had no idea where to start at first but I was able to find an amazing Dutch website that helped me immensely once I worked out what I needed to do. It was certainly a great feeling of accomplishment once solved.
The ground was really wet surrounding GZ and I was almost wishing I had brought the gum boots, but managed to skirt around and get to where I needed to go (really? there?) and retrieve the cache. Absolutely loved the clever outer container for this one.
Thanks so much for this cache grugthethug!

Again we have learned some interesting history here today. I see what you mean by the google map image too.
The guidance devices are a marvelous piece of engineering as well. Clearly they are from a civilisation far more advanced than our own.
Thanks again grugthethug. Another favourite of ours.

This series has seen me cover more ground and petrol than any other - those aliens certainly work on a large scale. To be expected I suppose when you’re travelling interstellar distances!
After success at Beacon, Water and Oxygen and a fail at Glass, how could I leave Annihilation uninvestigated? That’s right, I couldn’t!
So it was time for more driving. I made some calculations and headed for GZ. As we romped across the grass I realised I hadn’t consulted the checker. Oops!
Having a sense for a good looking grugthethug tree I went straight to a likely candidate, and whaddya know - this one also included a cache! Cool!
We continued on into this odd reserve. Those aliens think big. I couldn’t quite get my head around all the gravel. There were park benches and tyre tracks all around. Who or what enjoys that sort of thing?
Looking at the map I was torn about whether to explore more of the local caches, and I really wanted to visit Denmark nearby too, but had no battery at hand. It was already reaching mid-morning so I decided it was time to finally head for home.
Back at the car, with alien senses heightened, I felt uneasy looking at a nearby “garage”. It appeared to have an attic/loft window, but on closer inspection I was convinced it was fake. What was its real purpose?? With a shudder, I beat a hasty retreat.
This might be another one to refer on to the the Greater Dandenong Historical Society for further investigation.

Was in the park chasing some caches and even though I am not a climber I thought I’d have a go at this one. After using a couple of devices I finally found and logged this one. Thanks for this cache. Find No: 1054
We found this cache today on our Alien Hunt. Came a fair way south to grab this final preliminary cache. If we had read ahead, we could have parked on the correct side of the park, but we had not so we did not. Cache soon clambered for and added to the set of six. Thanks from D & HA B-A.

There is a bit of a story behind today's caching run. Back in June, I was in Scotland and I signed a challenge cache that required me to find 20 multi caches in a single day. I initially thought I had qualified on a caching run a couple of years back in Geelong, but upon running the checker I discovered I was 4 short. Fast forward to today, quite carefully planned out was November multi Madness day.
Getting a bit tired now, but we are really close to 20, so, up I went once at GZ and after dropping the internal container not once but twice from GZ, it was finally back in place with our names in the log book and data recorder for future endeavors.
Many thanks to grugthethug for the cache. TNLN.

My Spanish class had moved to a later timeslot and with 3 hours to kill I planned a run at this park. I had been before but was under prepared with courts and made a mess of it. Not a whole lot better tonight as I assumed being multi I needed to find more things but I decided to follow the hint when there it was. I am not very gymnasticity so although it was calm the tree still shook.
Thanks to grugthethug for the placement and fun.

I had been working on this series for a few weeks now and having solved this one I thought it was about time I got along to take a look. I wasn't all that confident in my workings and I fretted about proximity issues to caches that I had previously found near here. I didn't spot it at first and as often with multis I started to wonder about my margin for error. Seems I just wasn't looking closely enough as my coordinated calcs turned out to be spot on and I was able to get my hands on the log. More info collected here and a step closer to the final cache. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the multi cache and the series grugthethug. This one earns a favourite point from me for a neat puzzle and execution.

Another tree climb for me this weekend, after being 26 metres in the air yesterday, this was quite simple although a fall would be still bad, so care was taken.

Over the years, geocaching has taken me on many adventures, including interesting destinations all over my home continent of Australia and many overseas as well. It has also introduced me to a diverse group of like-minded caching tragics, many of whom I now call close friends.
Today, I was lucky enough to be out and about searching for caches, something I do on almost a daily basis. This was one cache that was targeted and found.
Sorry for the late and generic log, something I am notorious for. Thank you grugthethugfor adding to the adventure that is geocaching.

Out caching for the day, I decided to stop and try my luck at this one. I have worked it out from home, so was crossing my fingers that I had GZ correct. It turns out that I did. I read the hint and then Micaparamedic spotted the interesting cache container. He volunteered to climb the tree and retrieve the cache. Thanks for placing the cache grugthethug, a favourite point from me.

I had been saving this one for a day when I was needing to find a non traditional cache, even though I had visited this one previously just to obtain the clue for the final.
Today I returned to make the the find official and this time the log was signed and the find claimed.
This one now completes a great series that makes you think on a few occasions.

Out and about this morning/afternoon doing chores and chasing geocaches (shh, don't tell the misses)
Solved the clues yesterday and was just itching to grab the prize, so keen in fact that I dropped the container whilst in the process and had to go down and back up again.

Really enjoyed this one.
A neat puzzle with an intriguing back story.
A very nice location, and a physical challenge at GZ which most will be able to master without too much difficulty.
The rain held off except for a very light and intermittent drizzle which had no effect on me or the soccer match in progress where I parked.
I'll give this one a fav point.
Thanks for the fun grugthethug

When this was published I did some calculations and put it on my "to collect" list. Today I needed to start my streak week so headed out and parked nearby and walked across to GZ.
It was quite windy but I managed the climb ok and survived the descent as well.
I even managed to record my first clue for the final while up there.

Been a while since I went geocaching on my own so decided I head out at night while the geofamily are in bed. This one had the added challenge of having to climb a tree so I decided to chase this one tonight. After parking the car nearby I worked out the coordinates and made my way to the cache. I could see the cache up there upon shining the flashlight. I started to climb but when I reached the cache I realized I didn't have anything to write with so back down I go and headed back to the car to grab a pen.
I quickly return to the cache and this time climbing was a lot easier and quicker but I dropped my phone while sitting up the tree to sign the log. Took a good 10mins to find the phone.
Very much enjoyed this hunt.

I worked out the approximate location of GZ by looking at the map, rather than any kind of calculation. The climb was not too difficult but opening the container was a bit tricky whilst up there. In good condition. Really enjoying this series.
This is a cool basis for a multi, I reckon. It's the sort of thing I'd like to have thought of myself, quite frankly! The wee calculation was performed without issue somewhere around the publication date, but I elected to save this one until jimbo_80's favoured day to visit as the available evidence suggested that my ailing shoulder had no hope whatsoever of getting me within reach of cache.
The guidance device was quickly identified on approach to its calculated location. And jimbo did the deed. Hurrah!
This is chilling history right here, it has to be said. Absolute national shame that it's not more widely acknowledged. Thanks once more grugthethug for bringing it to light!

The government knows lots of stuff that they won't tell us. But the truth is out there. Which must be why this park has been laid out the way it has.
BendSinister required my average-at-best climbing abilities, but I made sure to calculate GZ on my own first - nicely hidden. The cache itself wasn't too hard to reach and was quite impressive - loved it. Thanks grugthethug!

While monitoring a new scientific application that simulates solar system dynamics using information provided by the NASA NEO (Near Earth Objects) Program, I received an alert, tracking an NEO on a direct coarse to the Greater Dandenong area. The advanced graphical interface monitors the orbits of celestial bodies as a function of the elapsed time and sends out alerts of the dangers from space.
Knowing full well there use to be targeting beacons for an Alien Invasion in the said area, a quick check on the activity of these beacons revealed one had been destroyed some time ago and the other disabled as late as yesterday. Why then is the NEO still heading here? In a state of confusion I decided I would check this out for myself.
After working the math to get the locations of the beacons, I grabbed Ana the geo-dog and headed to the area in question. According to n0w0rries, a K9 is a good indication that a Beacon is operational. As we approached the calculated site of Beacon 2, Ana started getting excited. I decided to keep her on the lead as I had no idea of what was affecting her this way.
Standing directly on top of the coordinates I had calculated earlier, I looked around nervously for something that could be a beacon, all the time Ana was intensely barking at something. As I turned to tell her to be quiet, she had her paw raised as if to point at something. Slowly I turned my eyes in the direction see was indicating and there it was. The beacon was active despite having been disabled 24 hours earlier. I quickly worked to turn off the beacon and interrupt the signal it was emitting. Clearly the beacon resets itself and will need to be constantly interrupted until it can be destroyed like the first.

As I began the final approach the Alien technology seemed to activate and K9 began to run wildly in ever increasing circles. Perhaps these are remnants of the legendary crop circles from last century, we may never know but as it was far too dark to deploy drones, I needed to find an alternative method of getting a better overview of this area.
After finding that I had also been led around in ever decreasing circles, eventually the source of the interference was discovered and deactivated.
I am fairly confident that we no longer face annihilation but ongoing monitoring of this site is strongly advised.
A report to this effect has been forwarded to our superiors.

With a break in the weather, we grabbed the chance to check out the target those aliens have in place for us, in case the need arises to wipe us all out with their WMD. Stood at the site of device 1, then proceeded to track down device 2.
Surprisingly it was the second place we checked. Retrieval completed and log signed, we were off to explore more of this lovely area.
Thanks again grugthethug. Great series

Today after work, with the rain appearing to hold off, I went for a drive and parked close to this cache. After listening to the birds, enjoying the walk, I saw what I expecting to be where the aliens had hid their device. However following the GPS, it took me to a tree near to my target.
Pleased to say that I was able to find this Alien Device very quickly without any interference from the Aliens. I suspect that they were under the belief that if I found the device, that I would blow myself up while 'playing' with it. However my electronics teacher would be proud that I was able to deactivate this device without electrocuting or blowing myself up.
Another interesting puzzle and cache. Thanks for the adventure Grug the Thug

First ever {FTF} @ 0045 and all on my lonesome out here.
Dead of night, kids tucked up in bed & hubby just getting into bed when I hear the email come through at 2340hrs. It's the first cache that is close to home as most are some distance away. I read the description and think to myself this one is too complicated for me but at least if I go and meet others there I will learn something.
So off I go. Where should I park? I find a spot that will be central to everything. It's dark outside and windy and scary. I sit in my car and look for torch light. Nothing. I start reading the description again and then glanced at the attributes which said "Tree Climbing". At this point I thought I should just go home and come back in the day.
But no, I got out. My plan was to go to the middle and the destroyed device co-ordinates location and see if I can find someone along the way. Did I mention I'm PETRIFIED of the DARK! There were all sorts of night noises, shadows and creatures flying about. But still I thought I will bump into someone to help me. Nothing. I decide to walk back to my car. I sat in my car reading the description again. I've been here so long now that I'm not giving up.
I drive my car to a different spot, get out and start walking. I have no sense of direction and very poor navigation skills 14% battery power left on my phone. But I'm still thinking I'm sure I'll find someone or torch light shortly. I see light and run to it but it was just a reflection in the water. Sad face.
At this point I look at my phone and say to myself what are the chances. I don't over think it and use a bit of intuition. I decide to look around and check a nearby tree. Nothing. I look at my phone again and walk a little further, check a tree. Nothing. One last try, look at my phone, walk a little, check a tree and there it is !!! Well now I think it's time to mention I am also PETRIFIED of HEIGHTS and I'm going to have to climb.
Inspired by some recent tree climbing by jascat, I mustered up the courage and climbed up that tree. Half way up one of my shoes comes flying off. Not to worry, keep climbing. Took me about 10 mins but I finally got up there.
It was then that it dawned on me "what if I'm not the first". But I also had this amazing feeling of excitement! Standing there on the branches holding on for dear life, 1 shoe missing from my foot, I slide the cache open. The mint tin comes flying out and I manage to catch it only by millimetres. And what should await me - a clean fresh logbook ready for me to sign in first place. It was a bit tricky putting the tin back in it's hide.
What an amazing experience and adventure for my first ever FTF. Pretty proud of myself.
A fave point from me.
Thank you grugthethug for this amazing Alien series.
