After visiting the time ball I stopped off here to watch the port working, which I found quite interesting. Its a big area down there. Coal, logs, containers. All happening.A quick find. TFTC
Quick stop on our way to Godley head, the view is always nice, even if it is an industrial port. We've been here quite a few times, but never looked for the cache. The container and its logbook are in good condition. Thanks for placing this here.
Found on a Saturday afternoon tiki tour with my daughter. We stopped off to look at the view and Lo and behold there was a cache! TFTC
9 for 9 today. I'll admit that looking at a port isn't overly interesting but it's a beautiful day today.
Had been to they Lyttelton Markets today with my lovely sister in law.We then drove further to see some views!Happened to look at my phone and saw there was a cache right here!Yay, Thanks!
I've wanted to find this one for ages, but was thwarted early on when I discovered that pedestrians aren't allowed at all on the road and there's no tracks that come by here. Finally made a drive out here today, and did enjoy the location - all the workings of the port are fascinating.
Found it on the rail in full view of everybody. Moved it to where hint says. Great views here. TFTC
Having solved a bunch of mysteries over the past couple of months, including the night before finding them. A spontaneous trip down was made by Kiwi Does Stuff and team Reschedule to collect some Canterbury caches. We have headed out to set ourselves a personal best for a days caching. The perfect caching wagon (a rental car) has been acquired allowing us to go anywhere with ease. All of the caches have made for an enjoyable weekend to remember and resulted in a solid and best days caching.Apologies for the generic log, all caches signed are a mixture of Res, Resch & Reschedule - a big thanks to the CO for creating, placing and maintaining all of their caches. TFTC!
A great place for a cache, and fabulous views from up here. Nice and quiet today and a quick find, TFTC
This is not the first cache I have found close to here, the last on was pre the earthquake that provided a lot of the material for the major land reclaim you see before you here.Cheers and thanks,S.t.
Daughter made this find as we were all checking different spots. No pen, but Tftc!
We had intended to go up the gondola today but the queues were epic, so we came instead. In port was a massive cruise ship, which explains the queues! A quick find. Tftc
4-week family trip through NZ - Find #189!On a scenic drive in the afternoon, we came past this viewpoint. I noticed that there is a cache here, so I made a quick find .TFTC!
Thanks for placing the cache, a few muggles around today. Rather impressive watching the port from afar.
Domani all'alba partiamo per l'Australia... Iniziamo una nuova avventura!!!About this cache:serata al mare, in spiaggia a mangiare Fish and Chips ma durante il ritorno qualche found aiuta a digerire !!! Thanks Owner
Did my very best but it was just way too busy. Muggle after muggle after muggle. The search ended when a party of 12 came and sat on all the benches to eat their lunch. Never mind, cant win them all.Great views though so thats a plus
Not a super quick find with tons of muggles here watching a container ship leave the port.Managed to finally locate the container while everyone was staring out to sea but had to wait for the exodus to return it. TFTC- a quick grabs we passed by on an evening drive
Took a wrong turn in town and suddenly found ourselves on the way up in the mountains. Turned here and discovered this nice view and a cache as well. Thanks!
Fantastic view from here. Spent a while just mesmerised by the port activity. there were many muggles around so kept waiting for them to leave. In the end decided they were too busy watching the ongoing so quickly managed to retrieve, sign and return cache. Tftc
While on a quick visit to Lyttelton today with Mrs nzks Mum, we stopped at the lookout. After eating lunch and watching a ship come in, we waited for a few groups of muggles to leave before locating the cache. All ok here. TFTC Jess.daphne.
A quick easy find despite a larger than usual hint object. The cold wind and cloudy conditions today were not conducive to admiring the view. TFTC
Forgot to log this yesterday. This was the first cache I found on our trip around lyttleton. Nice quick find and view. TFTC
In Christchurch from MA USA on cruise. On excursion that stopped at the overlook. Fortunate as only cache that was close enough to grab. TFTC

In Christchurch for a music gig and after it finished we headed back to where we were staying in St Martin's. Somehow we ended up in Lyttleton so I just had to find a cache of course. Have been here before but too many people around to make the find. No one at the lookout now so it was a quick find by SZ...no surprises there considering it was nearly 2am TFTC
I found this cache while on vacation in New Zealand Thank you for the experience Greetings from Germany
Perfect timing for me for this view of the Port and Rīpapa. One of the current exhibitions at Te Puna o Waiwhetū/ Chch art gallery is Brett Graham's Tai Moana Tai Tangata which comments on the New Zealand wars, which have a strong link to Canterbury. In September 1880, the British brought about 160 of the ploughmen of Parihaka from the N Island and imprisoned them on Rīpapa Island. If you were a local Pākehā, you could take a sailing trip around the island for 1 shilling and 6 pence, to stare at the prisoners. After 4 months, the survivors were brought to Lyttelton Gaol from where they were released after another 6 months. I guess some of them made it home, but then the British dispersed Parihaka in November 1881 so they were all evicted. A beautiful if sad view but a good cache. A favorite for a brilliant historical and geographical view. Thanks Jess.daphne.
Found while staying with son in Christchurch for the weekend. He brought us over to Lyttleton to visit the market then up here to get a view of the port. What a busy place and a huge cruise ship visiting as well. Thanks for the cache.
