Found on maintenance run with Tankengine, rode up hill start 2nd cache of the day.now I'm in the picture .. yaynew container even better than the first !
Today, I had the chance to hike John's Peak with a friend who's been dreaming of this adventure for years but never found the right hiking partner. When they asked me to join, I naively volunteered without knowing what I was getting into! We invited the geocaching community, but no one else could attend since it was a Tuesday. We decided to press on anyway as two school teachers were on holiday. The hike was strenuous. At 45, I felt the challenge, while my friend made some sections look effortless. Fortunately, they were incredibly patient and respectful of my need for regular breaks. I appreciated how they waited for me to search for and hide caches. The effort was worth it. Not only did we conquer John's Peak, but we were rewarded with stunning views, sightings of some fascinating insects, and a shared sense of accomplishment at reaching the summit. It was a day to remember!I loved finding this one just off the trail. Hints were accurate. The park ranger did take a double take as he passed just as we reached the tank.
A mighty canister near GZ, and a smaller one to hold the logbook. Collected as our descent (with some pesky ascents to test the legs) back to the car continued. All in good nick. Cheers TE. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------In the spirit of reconciliation we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country on which we geocache throughout Australia and their long lasting, and ongoing connections to land, sea and community. We (the pants people) pay our respects to Traditional Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
Second cab off the rank on the way up to Camels Hump with my old man. What an amazing hike so far! Beautiful forest this one and not too steep although theres a bit of that ahead I believe Quick find at ground zero, but nicely tucked way and camouflaged nonethelessthanks Tabkengine!
Up, up and away! Slowly climbing Camel's hump and this one was the first. A baby bush bash consisting of 10m and the cache was found and signed. Took a little break here before continuing upwards! TFTC Tankengine!
The final cache that we picked up today. Another quick find on our way down. The cache had some water in it but managed to scratch my name in the logbook nonetheless. Tftc
Out for a day walk doing the Mt Tidbinbilla loop, together with Imari_the_Red, who already had all the caches. A quick find here. The plastic log was quite wet, as the seal seems to be broken. But we managed to dry off a bit of the log and sign. TFTC!
As others have noted this was very wet and infact there was about quarter of an inch of water in there which I emptied
I tried to make my mark but then it came off as I dried the logon my shirt!
The container was sealed tightly so not sure how it’s getting wet but I inverted it in its position in case that helps

The Day:
The mission was to finally visit the last of the caches along the northern ridge of Tidbinbilla. From the carpark, first to tackle was Camels Hump, then a small bit of backtracking and over Johns peak to reach Canberra's Horizon, grabbing all caches in between. All three peaks conquered in just under 5.5 hours, total 20kms with elevation asc/des 1055m. There is such an amazing view from the back of these peaks, an absolute beautiful part of the ranges. Always a strong recommendation to any casual cacher who has been thinking of checking some of these harder caches out, don't be turned off by the ratings, the tracks are all well marked and the views from the top just make the pain from the climb melt away in an instant
This Cache:
A nice starting point along the journey. Unfortunately this log has gotten pretty wet that it was hard to make a log, but managed something legible. Otherwise, a quality TE cache as always. TFTC!

The day had brightened up as I headed up to Camel's Hump by e-bike, picking off theese Camel caches, and making it to the top for the first time. Previous trips I walked came down this firetrail after doing the Tidbinbilla Peak and John's peak circuits. Cache soon found. A 2 hour round trip in total. TFTC.

Nabbed on a wander through the area and up to John's Peak.
Log was damp, little bit of water within container, which surprised me. Scratched my initials and date on the log as pen wouldn't work. Needs some drying out time. Thanks for the cache.

We’ve climbed up to the Camel’s Back quite a few times, but today there was only time to get up to this cache and no further. Nice walking on a mild day, and we enjoyed the company of a kookaburra who kept flying along the track ahead of us, alighting on a branch to wait for us then going on again! Thanks Tankengine.
Out with BonEm on another enjoyable hike in Tidbinbilla.
We started out from the Mountain Creek Carpark, hiked to the summit and grabbed a few caches on the return leg of the hike.
Nicely hidden TE, with both container and log in good order
Thanks TE

Decided to do another hard (well hard for me!) walk at Tidbinbilla today before the weather gets too hot. This was my first stop and started looking around on the ground before reading the hint and then spotted the cache straight away. All good.
Thanks,
Thanks,
A beautiful, mild winter's day perfect for a walk up the Camel Back trail. A great spot for the cache - thank you!
Found with Noikmeister and BatGirl on a cool first day of winter.
I haven't done many caches on the Tidbinbill Ridge, what an awesome spot.
This was the first restpoint on the way to the top. Cach soon found in the obvious place.
Had trouble getting our pen to work and signed the log on the way back down.

Out on the first day of winter with Noikmeister and JmanJezza to head up the Tidbinbilla Ridge to at least gain a little altitude given our limited options in that space right now. Although a public holiday the weather (especially up high) was not exactly stellar so I was amazed (and gotta say pleased) to see so many other hikers out on the trails. As we mustered at the car park N checked if anyone had a pen..."Yes!" I call out. Possibly he should have asked "Has anyone got a WORKING pen?" So among things found further up the trail was also a working pen and we ended up returning this way, finding the cache a second time and signing it.
Found at 9:15:00 AM with JmanJezza and BatGirl and Co
I organised a trip for the day to conquer the camel and co (again). Last time I was up here was over 7 years ago when I complete the ridge line cache and Canberra's Toughest Challenge in a day, but due to a very early start we approached from Pierces Creek Forest, so I have never done this trail. Steep at first but the quite easy up to the summit bit of Camel Back, which was slippery and treacherous.
Thanks Tankengine

What a great day, parks and reserves opening and the weather is great. A brisk walk along the hump to search for a few newer caches placed since the last trip out this way.
An early start, parking in the Mountain Creek carpark. A few muggles already here! A slow and steady climb, picking up Camel's Canister, Climb and Cusp. Can't go all this way without summiting so it was a quick scramble up. Passed the first muggle of the day, sitting enjoying the view back across the valley. Took a few snaps as well then it was up to the top quickly then back down again. The rest of the muggle brigade then followed, and over the course of the return trip at 30 of them heading the other way. Glad I was there early.
Made good time, the round trip taking just on 3.5 hours. TNLNSL TFTC

First of several today. I then went up to Camel Peak, back down, then up to Tidbinbilla Throne. A bit weary by day's end, Thanks.
I was pleased to see this one had survived undamaged after a recent burnoff. TFTC
Such a nice day for a walk. Parked at 8 am at the start of the Camelback trail and was soon up the top for a few quick finds. Great views. TFTC.
**This cache**
We had so much enjoyment walking through the snow and taking photos that the 45 min from the car to reach this cache went very quickly. The distance from the car park to here was just 2.17 km with a total ascent of 201m. GZ was out by 3m but the hint was very helpful as we knew that we didn't have to search in snow - 1 down 4 to go. BTW Tankengine the tank at this location is missing its engine ) It's a dad joke. TFTC Tankengine.
**Our day**
We went through the Tidbinbilla Reserve gates this morning at 8.15am excited that we may see some snow on the Camelback Fire Trail, and we were not disappointed. Initially we were thrilled just to see patches of snow but as we walked further it was everywhere and so picturesque in the morning sun. Most of the day we could hear the lyre birds 'singing' and saw their foot prints in the snow. We also saw paw prints of various animals during the day.
We spent most of the day in the mountains taking lots of photos, throwing snowballs and making snow fairies (yep, even at 60+). We also enjoyed the atmosphere and had our lunch at the top of Camel Hump - fantastic with the pristine snow all around. Perfect temperature in the sun despite our boots filling with snow as we sunk knee deep while scrambling up Camel Hump.
From the footsteps in the snow we could see that many people had come this way over the past week. We also spotted a couple of bike tyres and car tyres with chains. However with a couple of trees across the trail a few kilometres uphill they went no further. Approximately three quarters of the way up to the top of Camel Hump the foots steps also stopped as if no one dared venture to the top given the steepness and depth of snow around this area. We were careful as it was slippery and took our time and oh what fantastic views up top.
Finding caches in the snow is never easy so we did not expect to find them all - but we did. The hints and/or photos helped enormously so thx to the COs and cachers. In particular, many thx for the 'CLUE' photo that enabled us to spot the approx. location of the 'Arabian Caravan' cache on Camel Hump.
The wooden log in the CLUE photo was mostly buried and GZ was out by 3m making it all the harder AND we were sinking deep into the snow as we hunted around. Wet, but not out, we soon found yet another log dug it out to see if it match the photo - YEP! We then spotted something that could hid a cache. We then dug the snow out as it was buried under 30cm of snow despite it's location. Such satisfaction. Now for lunch and play.
We spent 6.25 hours walking over 15 km with a total ascent/descent of 712m. A fabulous day had by all.

Saw there were more caches on Camel's Back, so I made it the object of my weekly hike. Always a satisfying climb. Thanks for the caches.
Assembled a large team of muggles on a Canberra Bushwalking Club trip to find these for me. A successful technique. Added interest to the walk by exiting Camels Hump to the east directly down to Nils. Perfectly equipped cache as always. Thanks TE.
Unplanned STF
We decided earlier this week to use the long weekend for few hikes. Today we are heading to Camel's hump.
What a surprise when I opened c.geo and found this cache has only FTF so far.

Given that the parking area you've listed is inside Tidbinbilla, which requires a fee to drive into, I think your 24/7 attribute is a bit misleading. Might be worth indicating a fee is applicable.
While it is technically possible to access this cache without paying the fee and at any hour of the day, in all practical circumstances this is not true.

Not sure what came first, the prescribed burn or the cache! Perhaps Thomas wanted to fire rate his containers
Either way the cache is fine, yay .
The order of operations today varied but end result the same.
Do three Camels win the jackpot? *FTF*
Really enjoyable day out . TFTC
