Four Swedish ladies walking around in Sydney looking for caches. We found this and we log as TULP. Thank you for this.
Four ladies from Sweden (Tigertassen, ursus67, Lnganfans, pidjas) are visiting Australia. This day we took a long walk, more than 20 km. We mostly log as TULP.We visited this place when logging Australias oldest.A big thank you to the CO for this cache.
Hlsningar frn Sverige, sdra Lappland Then it was time for a little adventure. The trip goes to Sydney in Australia and then on to Christchurch and Dunedin in New Zealand .On the trip are, Tigertassen, myself, ursus67, Lnganfans and Pidjas go, which means that we log under the common name "Tulp". The idea is that before we go home we should have visited a Megaevent, Geo Toroa. Greetings from Sweden, southern Lapland

What a fascinating story. We all love a mystery, although I think we citizen psychologists, we want to know whodunnit and why. Its a shame this information was never discovered.I had two days in Sydney, and had a list of caches that I wanted. Lane Cove was one, and this one was on my list as a nice to find. I missed the previous bus by 1 minute. I saw it drive by, sadly. But that then gave me 29 minutes to find this cache. I was back with plenty of time to spare. It was an easy find, well described in the hint. Thanks for the cache and for bringing the reason for the location to prominence. I wonder if well ever know whodunnit?
I had just been nearby to find Australia's oldest geocache. I realised that I had missed my bus by one minute and so I had 29 minutes to wait. While I was browsing for caches, I realised that this one was here that I had read while at home planning my visit, but for some reason I had forgotten to add it to my list, even though I'm hunting Sydney Oldies on this trip. What afascinating story and it's sad that they never found out 'who done it's. We geocachers are always curious and for some reason have more curiosity for puzzles and mysteries. The cache was found quickly and easily. I dropped off a Travel Bug that I had taken when I was in Italy recently, and I left it here. Hopefully someone will take it on for further travels. Thanks for the cache.
Woohoo. Easy find. Great 2002 cache.Found the trail easily and walked along. Immediately spotted. Well hidden and long lasting.Another LGA and another oldie. With drobbonz and kiwisteve2. Tftc
easy find, thanks for the history! coords for me were a little bit out but the hint was perfect and had cih very quickly. enjoying my rambling wander along lane cove river today
Bisoutje are out and about again in Sydney. This is only our 2nd day in Australia, but having spent some days in Singapore as well we really felt like enjoying some nature views. As a Jasmer-chasing Geocacher I just happened to know about a national park close to the city. Within 2 hours we stood in Lane Cove national park; something that has been on my bucket list since forever. I was not only excited to be making way to GZ of the oldie, but also about everything this park has to offer. We saw and heard (for us) exotic birds constantly and even spotted a swamp wallaby. Walking past the river was an absolute joy. We also liked seeing all the Aussies busy with their Barbies. After our Lane Cove adventure was over and we stood waiting for the bus I learned about this cache just around the corner. The bus was significantly delayed so I thought I would have enough time to go and attempt a quick find just before dark. It was quite dark underneath the deck of trees/leaves but I found the cache rather quickly. I was happy I read the cache description ony afterwards. Luckily the cachebox is the only thing I found today.TFTC!
Found before heading off to find some rocks. Following the path, I had CIH at GZ. A well stocked cache, with my moniker added to a brand new log on this very old cache. TFTC
A new cache container with a log, pencil and some SWAG has been put in place approximately 4m from the track. There's now no need to go climbing into the bush.
The recent spate of wet weather has prevented me from checking on this cache. It is still very much on my radar to get it sorted ASAP.Calypso62 On behalf of Geocaching NSW
This one is still very much on the radar for a maintenance visit. It will be seen to as soon as possible.
Gday Geocaching NSW, unfortunately I wasnt able to find your cache today (Thursday 4/4/2024). Thanks for the hunt anyway!
Accio 10:16:01Found with Fangsoki and Pprime` on our long way home from Mega. Actually turns out Fang was here in 2011 - getting old dude. A lovely spot, and a nice little walk in this morning. Found the logsheet really quickly - coords were still swinging around and logbook was n hand. As others have said the container in missing. We didn't have a suitable one on us today sorry but noticed the local community is looking after it (?) Love finding 2Dogs caches ... old and mysterious. I chose NOT to tell T4mmmy the history of this spot in the description until we had left [:X] ... I find this sort of thing fascinating (she ... less so). Thanks The 2 Dogs for entertaining me at this location. *{Overall find #12433}*
A frustrating DNF for the tribe here. I have looked at previous images however since hunting and think I know where it is now. Someone has placed a blank piece of paper under a rock with their name but that for me is not finding the cache. Looking forward to coming back another time.
This case has always fascinated me. I got to GZ and looked around but couldn’t spot anything. I thought it might have gone. Decided to go for nothing cache and on the way back to the car decided to look at previous logs and photos. Came back and went on a different angle and spotted that would hide a cache, I flipped it over and there was the cache.
Spent about 25 minutes looking and poking around, could not find it. Seems a little harder than what it is rated according to other people as well.
Some previous photos show a different physical cache to the most recent photo?
The history was amazing to read about though!

Road trip from Tasmania to Sydney. TFTC.
Couldn't find this one yesterday so back again today for another look. Found after 5 minutes at GZ.

A short walk from the parking to GZ. It took longer than expected to find the cache.
After finding and logging it was time for a quick leech check. All good and no crawlies find.

Oldmorty and I had a lot of trouble finding this cache.
We’d given up and turned for home.
As we walked back along the track, I thought I’d look in a place we’d passed earlier, and to our surprise - we found the cache.
According to the previous finder, it looks as though we found the original cache, but not where we expecting it to be found.
The container is in good condition but the logs inside are very damp and some are mush.
Sorry, we didn't have any replacement logs with us. We dried the container and logs as best we could and replaced the cache where found.

Caching with frazeydaze today around the middle North Shore. On the list today were two newish caches, a couple of older puzzle caches and two previous dnf's that have been sitting on my map for ages.
The first of the dnf's. After unsuccesfully searching in the area that a lot of the gallery pics indicated we decided to call it and walk away again. On the walk back frazeydaze spotted the container lying on the ground about 15 metres from the posted coords at S33 47.627 E151 09.451. The box contained water and the logs were saturated and unsignable. We dried the box and signed the label on the Coles storage bag.
The cache was returned to where we found it. Perhaps any future cachers intending to visit the cache take a replacement log.
Thanks to the current maintainer of the cache.

I’m visiting Sydney from Brisbane and walked around this area finding caches. Spent about 5 minutes looking with the previous finder’s comments helpful. Interesting information. The regular size cache is in good condition. Took tb. Tftc
Looked a long time till found low by cliff. Cache in good condition and dry. (No longer a lock and lock container). TFTC Darwould & Plus Elle from Calgary, Alberta Canada
This cache has been found recently without any remarks on poor cache condition. Need maintenance attribute removed.

Out with wazza9 and Nana Nel to find this oldie. Thanks two dogs a very scenic area. We did maintenance as required and will update you and show you photos when we return to RVH. Regards Liz and Bruce
TFTC,
Out caching with Liz and Bruce to help them out with Sydney LGA's.
Always great to do old caches and where necessary help out. We spent a long time searching and eventually signed a log. Another 2 Dogs cache ticked off my list, visited trackables and added a favourite.

After searching for a while, with Liz and Bruce, wazza9. Stamped log and replaced. Thanks to 2 dogs
Nice cachers trail leading to GZ. Spent quite some time looking before spotting. Log damp so more of a scribe than signature!
Thank you for placing the is cache for me to find today.

Working nearby. Short detour had me at wet and boggy GZ. Added a clean sheet as log was soggy and falling apart. Thanks for the Grusome tale!
We were down in Lane Cove for an early mother's day and were pleasantly surprised to see an old "The 2 dogs" cache so close to us. It's always great to grab these oldies, especially as the cache is closely approaching its 20th anniversary.
This was a real quick find once at GZ, mostly due to the massive geotrail that has been created thanks to foot traffic through the ferns in this wet weather.
The contents of the cache was saturated, but after draining all the water put we were able to find a random spot to sign.
Thanks for the interesting historical read. Dad is fairly sure he has heard of the case before, and it is always fun pondering these mysteries.

The kids had fun finding it. Desperately needs maintenance. We poured the water out of the container.
it's really rainy today, so when u tried to go find the geocache, got my shoes full of mud. the geocache was pretty well hidden. just make sure you spray some mossie repellent and you should be all good. btw, would recommend putting a new log bokk since when I found it, it was full of murky water, i did tip the water out.
What an interesting history! I loved exploring and learning more about the area.
The cache was really well hidden and took me a while to locate it, even with the help of previous logs. Just a few meters off the path but pretty bushy and plenty of mozzies. Best advice from some other logs was “log and rocks”. Glad I didn’t give up - since I was rewarded with a satisfying find in a clever hiding spot. Can’t believe this cache was placed 10 years ago - in good condition but the log was soggy (brought my own paper so signed and left that as a log instead)

This was the last cache we hunted for on this walk and it was quite a surprise. We went to where the compass pointed and I had to remind myself that people hid caches a bit differently in the early days of the game. After quite a while of nothing we decided that we were too hungry to keep looking. So as we were heading back down the hill aubeasty put his foot on something that moved and hey presto, there was the cache! Yes, it was a bit away from where we started and not in a spot we would have expected. The container is not in great shape, but then the fact that anything is here after so many years is super.
This is not where we thought it would be as we were looking at the terrain rating. Still not hard to retrieve but maybe not in a wheelchair. Thanks for the cache and bringing us here.
I like to aim for old caches so this was a must when we noticed the date hidden. Thank you for placing this cache and maintaining it for so long.
I have listened to the casefile about this but now that I’ve visited the cache and found it I’ll listen to it again. Wow what a challenge. I had gone down to GZ expecting something simple but no I just found overgrown plants and mozzies. Poked around and didn’t find and the mozzies were biting me while I was trying to read logs and look at pictures. I grumpily went back to my car and cooled off while reading the logs and hints and sprayed myself down with aerogard before returning to GZ surely I can get this! Yep log and rock. About 8m from GZ. But holy cow this took me a while to find. Blew out the side of my old jogger while trampling in the undergrowth but as I was dejectedly looking where the hint said all of a sudden it was there, hey that was it! Lightbulb moment. Cache itself soggy and gross and log unsignable so I’ve taken a pic but really why would I cheat myself out and lie about finding this OG. Came here for jasmer grid. Left with 1L less blood thanks to mozzies TFTC twodogs!
TFTC!
Looked around a bit before we found it but found it in the end.
Still a bit wet inside, sadly.
Thanks for the intriguing back-story!

It's been a hot minute since I've been out on a solo geocaching adventure. Today's gloomy Sunday brought me out this way to try and get some vibes out in nature. What a beautiful spot!
There is something exciting about finding an older cache, its amazing to think how long this has been around for. Nice to snap up another OG cache by 2dogs! Log is really damp so could use a new log if someone sees this and plans on coming out!

I had this cache on my to do list, I came and parked near by and bush bashed to GZ, managed to make a quick find here here and the cache is okay. Great to have found this oldie.
With a few days of not much going on in Adelaide, I was deciding what to do for the next few days. For some reason Sydney seemed like a good choice and within 6hours I was off and away. With a last minute decision came a last minute plan of what I was going to go and find and as usual it changed but still got most of what I came for. A few DT fill-ins for my next loop, high favourites and JASMAR caches I was yet to find including the oldest in Aus: Lane Cove. Day 1: I arrived in Sydney late in the evening and had booked to stay at the rocks, I got off the train at an early stop and collected a few caches in the city along my path and a few lab caches. Day 2 I was up nice and early and went for nice run along the foreshore collecting some cache from the opera house to Walsh bay, I then headed over to manly and a nice walk around the area before picking up the free hirer car collecting a few caches on my way to lane cove. I later headed north to central coast to 2 Multis I was keen to tick off before arriving back in the city suburbs for the evening. I continued driving around the suburbs collecting LGAs and that continued on for day 3 before going to Bondi for some nice walks along the rock faces and the beach. As I had to drop the car back at lunch time I headed back into the city for the afternoon to collect the rest of the caches I had missed that were possible in the time I had left.
A total of 86 finds and 37 adventure labs for the trip.
Thanks for the cache

This is one of the oldest caches ive found and am very happy that it's still in play! Container was mostly dry today but the inside wasn't super dry.
It was a nice walk down and we discovered the golf course too
Felicity and I also challanged ourselves to find 5 different cache types today to beat our previous best of 2
This was #4

A quick detour while doing the GNW to grab this cache. Awesome story behind the cache. Cache was unfortunately filled with water and log unable to be signed. I left a piece of paper which I signed, but the cache will need some TLC. Sorry I didn’t have my usual caching bag to leave a new log and zip log bag. TFTC! GNW #7
