Feeling dreadfully sweaty and gross after tackling a nearby trail, but couldn't resist the urge to add another smiley to the collection.Had been wanting to visit the lagoon since arriving on Maggie a few days ago, but hadn't had the chance til now. After a few false starts to even find the trail, soon the hunt was on!! Was tricked initially by another bit of pipe, but after widening the search area, the cache was soon in hand.As previously reported, log is damp and a little gross and unable to be signed. Added a new log in a plastic bag, although not sure how it will last in the summer heat and impending wet season. Thanks for the opportunity to cache whilst also taking in the sights.TFTC

Really wet, just signed the back page.We were on Palm Island last night. This morning, exploring by the foreshore waiting for the ferry, a tropical rain had us under shelter with a few others. They had spotted us walking a few times yesterday, thought we were working on the Island, so surprised to find out we were tourist. They hadn't met any before. Wished we had a second night to enjoy more time.Taking the ferry back to Townsville, our window was tight when we got there. 30 minutes later, had what we needed from the car and back on a ferry. This time to magnetic island. Accomadation booked on our way over. Over lunch on the island we saw many transport options drive past. Scooter (motorbike) was one, and a phone call had them collecting us, hired, and off to enjoy the cool breeze it gave. Great way to get about once I got over the what if I fall off worry!Enjoyed the beaches, rock scrambles, koalas grunting, scenery and tropical feel. The Rock wallabies on dusk being hand fed was an experience. A guy came and handed us approved fruit from his car window, we later met him on a completely different part of the island after dinner, (Banana man). Parking was a breeze with the scooter and had the full island experience including the cocktails by the beach. Would easily return, temps in the 30c or not. Thanks for your cache, we cached about and saw so much.

Finished another long trip around Australia. The 6th. Next up to Townsville to grab the Palm Island LGA. Only 2 LGAs to complete Australia.Firstly heading back south for some Canberra time.TFTC. Started the rainy day with the return trip from Palm Island. Decided to ferry to Magnetic Island for a day's caching now the rain has cleared and the day has warmed up. Did one cache and then decided on the best mode of transport to discover the island. Scooter was chosen... as in the motorcycle style. The scooter people knew all about geocaching, which was great. Lots of caches found in amazing scenic places with beaches, rock wallabies, granite outcrops and wonderful tropics.Day has ended with cocktails on the beach. Nice.Nice quick find.

Day 8 of the annual Crooked Clan North Queensland Christmas Catch Up with my in laws just happens to be our last day on Maggie. We had a slow start this morning and got packed up with a late breakfast/ early brunch.

We still had a few hours to kill until our 1 pm barge, and it was too hot to do much. So we opted to drive around the island collecting a few caches on my list, whilst my son clocked up some driving time for his learners license.

Managed to keep the car running and slip into the bush for a quick find. All good here. Many thanks C&M+B&B

Originally gave up on this one because I’m not the biggest fan of bush-bashing and the GOS was seemingly off by a bit, but came back later in the day and eventually found it. Fun cache, never doing it again Wink

Day 17 of a 3 week holiday driving from Canberra to Townsville and back to attend the Mega. Today was attempting to finish all the caches on Magnetic Island. I ended up with 2 DNFs and 3 did not attempts. Otherwise a successful day with some pleasant and enjoyable walks. Two Koalas sighted plus some bird species I hadn't seen before. Cache soon found. Took (unactivated) TB. TFTC.

Over on Maggie for a few days and the weather isn’t looking great so we decided to get up early and if it wasn’t raining then we would do the fort walk! Wow, we thoroughly enjoyed the walk. We started in much cooler conditions but knew that the rain could come at any stage, just hoping it would stay away until after our walk! Unfortunately no such luck! It started the drizzle on our return, then it pelted down and we returned extremely wet but cool!

Went back to our accommodation and got changed and sat there waiting for the rain to stop, which it eventually did! Desperate for a coffee we decided to head for Horseshoe Bay.

Dodging road workers we eventually ended up here, was expecting a track but couldn’t see anything so we just followed the gps until malemebsec sang out that he found it!

As part of the CacheQLD committee I am here working, caching, catching up with friends and generally having a fab time. Some awesome puzzles up this way and some tricky and adventurous hides! Awesome experience! Today was island day so myself chamad and Willis007 headed over , grabbed our open air jalopy and spent a brilliant day chasing adventures. Thanks to all the COs for the caches!

20-Apr-22
What an absolutely fantastic day of caching. A day of caching which included Willis007 and Gcoven and where we had organised a day trip to Magnetic Island, (to see where they make all the magnets). I had organised a topless ride for the day to add to the fun, it was then named the “JALOPY”, however, we got more than we bargained for there. The Jalopy was a Suzuki heap, your typical was a typical island car of the 70’s, which is probably when it had its last service and road worthy check… the fun in that thing alone today was priceless.
The area around the island was just fantastic and the walks brilliant. We managed to see a couple of Koala’s sleeping in a tree near a walkway. Some great birdlife and some stunning beaches.

The caches were a lot of fun and we managed to grab the important ones for us and a few others as we passed by. Thank you to the CO’s for the hides and the continuing maintenance of the caches. We signed all logs and replaced as we found them and had a fantastic day.

Gcoven, chamad and myself had always said we would do a tour of Magnetic Island while we were here for the MEGA. Today was the day!
After attending Bugs Birthday Bash we boarded the ferry and headed towards a very beautiful Island, it showed us all it had to offer today - black cockatoos, koalas, stunning views, amazing monoliths and some beautiful trees.
Making our way around the island, we headed to this cache which was a quick find.
Thanks C&M+B&B for placing the cache here.

Appreciate your efforts planting and maintaining these caches.

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 7. Townsville Mega section Day 7. Today was the first big outing of the Townsville leg of this trip. I joined Nibletricecakes, Gliss!, Smitten Granny and Cosmonaut97 for a day trip to Magnetic Island. It was an early start, but pleasant ferry ride over. First activity was the walk up the Forts hill for the Labs and a few caches. This took us till late morning, so after a few caches around Horseshoe Bay, we had lunch and continued caching, targeting some nice old caches and solved puzzles. Our return to the South side of the island took us to a nasty pier cache where we failed badly before lining up for the ferry home. We were all ready for dinner and bed after a fantastic day !

We spent quite a bit of time going around in circles here before we hit on the right spot for this one, lots of very spiky plants !

Thanks for the cache C&M+B&B

One of my best geocaching days ever. Nibletricecakes booked her full car across on the 7 am barge for a day's caching on Magnetic Island. The group travelling together included Albida33, Cosmonaut97, GLISS! and me so logs were signed as NACGS , with a silent C - not that she could ever be accused of that.

Albida33 beat us all to this one. Actually that happened quite a lot today. He's a machine!

Found while having a week long holiday on this magnificent island.
Quick easy grab. Nice container, thanks.
Sorry about the late logs, my GPS died and I had to do a hard reset loosing all of my data, so now having to re-trace my steps. Luckily we only found about 15 caches over a few days, so they’re easily enough to remember.
Thanks again
