I found this cache on my Mega Walk #24 - a 33,000 step through Laverton to Truganina Park to Skeleton Creek and back to Laverton. AS I was walking up the creek, I was trying to work out if I had cached along here before. I checked on arriving home and I had not. Felt like I had though. Thanks from D B-A
Needing a walk coupled with it being the weekend and thus more muggle-rich meant that I preferred a minimally built-up area for caching. The fact that I left in the early afternoon had the effect of narrowing my choices. Seeing as I was on a bit of a roll with tackle_head caches I thought I'd push a little further out to Altona Meadows and clock up the kilometres along Skeleton Creek. I found them all today which was...pleasing. Many thanks to tackle_head for putting these out and almost as importantly diligently maintaining/replacing them as the need arises.I didn't enjoy this walk as much as the one along Altona esplanade. I suppose that's the urbanist in me. This walk featured more in the way of vast, flat and water absorbing wetlands than the esplanade. Nonetheless I enjoyed the sunshine and birdsong. My logs will include this standard blurb and then a comment or two about each cache separated from this blurb by a dividing line. ---Another quick find, helped along by the fact that no one was around on my first leg of my walk. On the way back, a young woman was interacting with her phone on a picnic blanket not 10m away from the structure. She appeared to have picnic supplies, transported in a milk crate on a bike which while a wonderful idea and one I hope to emulate at some point in the future would've made it awkward if she turned around at the wrong time as I searched the structure. Glad I managed to avoid that possibility.
As most of my friends realise, I dont often travel in straight lines and today was no exception. I noticed a few green marks on the map along Skeleton Creek and decided some happiness was required. So hence the deviation of my route. Scooter out of my car, helmet on my head and off I headed. Enjoying the exercise as I scoot along this trail TFTC tackle head
I headed out on an evening caching ride to search out a few more in this area. This was the second find for the night. Another nice little handmade container, well tucked away. A quick retrieve and reset after waiting for a muggle to pass. All in good condition. TFTC tackle_head
#11581 arrived in Australia 06.01.24 for a 3 week stay. First find of hopefully many while here.
Out and about collecting some caches on a not so great weather day. Nice quick find.
Thanks to tackle_head for the cache.
Thanks to tackle_head for the cache.
I had to work today then at lunch time one of the jobs was canned so a decision was made to head West to see what I could find.
So while attending the Cachemas lunch the other week i was sitting next to a CO who told me I had to do their new caches at Werribee and I also ran into a couple of other CO’s a while ago who said I should do theirs as well.
So here I am heading to Laverton then making my way to Werribee on a chilly but fine Melbourne afternoon.
After visiting a few parks it was time to to head to Skeleton creek to finish off the ones along here.
I have visited the mouth of Skeleton Creek a few years ago so after parking at the end of Merton Street time for another stroll.
He occasional mugs pse me but nothing to stop me from looking for this.
A very familiar container was soon located.
The creek is looking quite good along here and a lot of work has been done.
Thanks tackle_head TFTC.

On a sunny winters afternoon shaded from the wind great spot to sit and watch the birdlike in the creek
Thanks

Today was free so a perfect opportunity to work on completing the hard souvenir for the favourite fan challenge for this month.
I did a mix of ad labs and whatever I came across mostly on bike trails on the scooter today and managed to complete the hard souvenir so now I can relax for a little while.
After a couple of sad DNF's in the other direction I continued scootering up this way instead and got 3 from 3. There was a guy fishing but I made it look like I was checking my scooter while retrieving the cache.
Thanks tackle_head for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Skeleton Creek looks pretty healthy to me, lots of reeds and plants are thriving here. The cache was in good health as well.

I had a free day, and SueHut was working in Werribee. I took the chance for a free ride, then biked it to Point Cook and back.
I did my bit towards improving the health of the creek, TH! Clearly they weren't all from Skeleton Creek itself, or even from the streets whose storm water goes to SC, but over the course of this bike ride I picked up a total of 373 plastic bottles and heaps of other stuff.
Thanks heaps for the cache, Tackle Head!

I had a window of a few hours to myself.
So I decided to walk a 10km loop down towards the Cheetham Wetlands from Bruce Comben reserve.
Amazing to see the changes since I was here many moons ago.
Another quick find.

Found this at the start of a walk along Skeleton Creek Trail. Good to know ways the health of the creek can be improved. TFTC

Out and about with Omegamaqn1971 for another one of our catch ups, today we decided to head over to the Western Waste lands and find a few of the caches on offer, weather was perfect and we enjoyed visiting several locations, pity about the smell, it must have been low tide.
This is one of the caches found today.
Thanks tackle_head for the cache.

Out with Rebel Acts far from home to put some smiles on the map.
Don't get out this way much but definitely enjoyed today's caching.
Cheers for the cache.

Found on 19 November 2021 at 5:24:17 pm. After crashing my bike on the cache before this one i was starting to feel the pinch of the injury but nether the less continued on to find this well hidden cache.
Thanks for the adventure tackle_head!

We headed out for a slow 28km cycle around the perimeter of Altona Meadows and along the banks of Skeleton Creek. Bright skies, mild weather, in great company with Mudbrick, and a little bit of caching along the way made for a very enjoyable outing.
We had earlier skipped this one due to muggles at GZ. We continued north to GZ of a solved puzzle. The half-an-hour we wasted there searching yielded no cache but at least it was enough time for the fishing muggles to clear this GZ. So on returning back south it was a quick find with the coast all clear. Or maybe the creek bank was all clear...
This was the final find for the day and with the area largely cleared out geocache-wise it was time to head home.
Thanks, tackle_head.

Another quick find. Although we had to wait for some muggles who were enjoying the view, we decided to do the same while we waited!
Checked the geocache, it is in place and ready to be found.

A lovely winters day for caching and spending time in the sun. We cycled our way through Skeleton Creek and mopped up the map with smilies.
With fishermen in the area, we managed to get this on the way home as the sun set. Thanks tackle_head.

I have seen more than 5 bird species in the short visit here. Nice spot to observe some water birds. Tftc
Out on my own today on a beautiful day on the way home from my sisters. Lovely walk along this area. Nice easy find. Thanks for the cache tackle_head and for bringing me here

Not much of my holidays left, back next week so it good to get a chance to go and grab some geocaches, 15 for the day but the walking was hot, maybe not the best time to go out in the heat of the day but ah well, it is what it is.
Seat, also hot...
**Thanks for placing this cache tackle_head**

Apparently there's a souvenir on offer? We decided to get out of the house and attempt our local nemesis cache. Unfortunately we were out muggled - again; so we headed for the next nearest cache to home.
Short search and the prize was in hand.

The western seaside suburbs of Melbourne have been calling us for some time. Today we had a great day of bike riding and walking around the reserves and streets among a feast of caches. It was interesting to learn about the creatures living in the waterway.
Our thanks 'tackle_head' for adding this cache to the geo-gameboard.

Super quick find this time. No need to get down on hands and knees. What a nice peaceful spot. A man out walking his dog but nothing to worry about.
Thanks for the cache.

LL timed this one well today - just in between rain showers passing through. A quick find at GZ. Signed as C&LL.
Surprised there was a parking bay nearby which made it nice and easy.
Thanks tackle_head. Decided to venture to another area today to fill streak day #267

This is a nice spot that is popular with fishermen. The health of the creek is very important! Thanks for the cache, which was easily found.
Had to be very subtle here to avoid the gaze of the nearby fisherman. Another good hide. Cheers.
decided to finish with this little group. Clue helped. A bit of déjà vu here as I approached GZ.

Suscoe had some family business in Melbourne so a quick find was needed for the Week Streak to end.
We have been thinking of visiting Skeleton Creek for a while and so with minimal time this hide was selected hopefully for a quick find.
Luck was on our side and certainly the word quick fitted the find today.
Signed and on our way further north and we made it just in time
Thanks to tackle_head for this hide.
Had a chat to some nearby fisherfolk who were working on some feral fish removal. European Carp certainly are a significant pest and on of the fellows mentioned that he catches them up to 20 pounds.
That is a fair lump of carp for sure!!!!!!
We wondered if a feral fishing CITO has ever been thought of before and would it meet the guidelines?

#16352. Down in Melbourne for a few days and hoping to get close to finishing, or actually finish off the Mystery at the Museum Souvenirs. A grey and cool day but a most pleasant one for walking to the caches we found today. The geo-dogs were also rugged up and enjoyed their many walks. Nine smilies collected and about 4 left to finish.
We parked in the middle to collect the 3 caches on this section of the path. Such an enjoyable walk first one way and then the other. This area is looking very nice with the creekside plantings and the tall reeds in the creek itself. Having found this hide we knew what to look for with the others.

Collecting a few caches around Altona with Bettyboo3747, just to finish off the Mystery at the Museum.
The creek is looking quite good today, certainly all the water birds were impressed with the work.
We thought it would be on the sign, but the GPSr said otherwise.
Thanks, Robmc.

Found by Mary and David at 16:40:00. We've been familiar with parts of Skeleton Creek since we lived on Base at Laverton in the '80s. We can well remember when it flooded the Prices Freeway in February 2005, and have watched the rapid housing development along its lower reaches in recent years. Lovely to see how this area is being improved and have enjoyed these trails several times now. A nice quick one. Our thanks to tackle_head.
