Found by The Empire + HLeaving Canberra behind, we embarked on the journey back to Melbourne. The highway stretched out before us, winding its way through rolling hills and vast plains, offering glimpses of the Australian countryside in all its splendor. We passed by quaint country towns and sprawling farmlands, each one a snapshot of rural life in this corner of the world. Our time in Canberra was unlike any other. Instead of traditional sightseeing, we immersed ourselves in the world of geocaching, attending a mega event that brought together enthusiasts from far and wide. From the moment we arrived, we knew that this was going to be an adventure to remember. As we stood in awe of this mechanical marvel, we couldn't help but imagine the sights and sounds of days gone bythe rhythmic chugging of the engine, the billowing clouds of steam, and the bustling activity of the rail yard.Despite the passage of time, the old steam train stood as a proud symbol of innovation and ingenuity, a testament to the craftsmanship of generations past. Its presence in the rail yard served as a poignant reminder of the rich history and heritage of the railway industry. Thanks for the cache GLISS!-M

More big days of caching as WAC consisting of Lachlan1.77, Leg5, neva2old, Barnzy12 and me. So many caches, so little time. Too many tree climbs for my liking but Im a chicken from way back. Thanks to other cachers for helping supply some of the required tools for the higher terrain caches. Thanks to you for hiding and maintaining so many caches for us to find.

Couple of Finnish vanlifers traveling around this beautiful Australia with Matilda the campervan. Stopping here and there to enjoy life without any plans. After getting everything set up and visiting some friends, Mntti1 and I began our travels five months ago. After visiting Melbourne and Great Ocean road we worked for couple of weeks in Myrtleford for hop harvest season. We finished the season couple of days ago and made it to Canberra just on time for Mega! Today we continued our travels and made few stops along the way. One of them this, while visiting the markets at the museo. Unfortuntely logbook was all wet and moldy. Managed to sign J+M. Thank you for the cache!

31-Mar-24
Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. We have commenced our raid on Yass. All logs have been signed as WA to save space, abbreviation for our team of cachers from Western Australia, who are cleaning up the series together. Cheers GLISS!! Big GrinJoin us in Augusta, in Western Australias South West, for WA Goes Big 2024 (GCAGV8Y) on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September. Log your will attend now!

The Cockburn Crew are on tour at the Capital Geobash in Canberra - travelling from Perth to Sydney, Canberra, Sydney and finally back to Perth.Today was day 3 and we had an absolute blast, after an earlier night last night we got up early to head to Yass and the surrounding areas to cleanup a bunch of caches inparticular whereigos and our personal favourite the challenge caches. We stopped in Yass and completed some high quality caches before venturing back to the trails. We completed a huge number of trails, challenges, whereigos, traditional, multis, earthcaches, labs, virtuals and puzzles. It really was a great day for variety. We enjoyed caching in territory we havent been before. Weve filled our boots with some rare DTs and DTTs and generally had a great time. Thanks to the COs for a great day and event. Logs signed as part of team WA/WAC (WA Crew)

Canberra Geobash Road Trip 2024. Day Two: Exploring Yass & surrounds. Always up for a sidetracked cache, so this was next on our list.Once we found the best vantage point for one of the engines, it was an easy calculation from there. A lovely stroll to GZ where I scrambled to the cache. A couple of magpies beginning their swooping duties as we returned to our geovehicle. Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, GLISS! ??~????????~

The Adelaide Leap Day Mega and Canberra Geobash gave us a great excuse for a road trip. This trip has shown us so many new and interesting places as weve chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites.Meeting up with friends old and new along the way, we sometimes cached together and sometimes alone but always had a great time. Today we took a wander around Yass, reading up on and visiting various historical buildings as we completed the Adlabs and other nearby caches. Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache and adding to our enjoyment.

I am heading to Cape York in a month - I am flying up but a friend from Canberra is driving to Cairns and I am meeting him there got the last haul. He has offered to take some gear up so I knocked off work today and drove to Yass. Gave myself plenty of time for caching and was mainly targeting some achieved challenges.Missed the bottle shop so had a beer at one of the pubs on the main drag. This was the closest cache dk thought I would have a look. Hadnt realised the Tram Station was here. Head torch (nice and bright) hit me the numbers. That doesnt look far away - just need to work out the route (and what that odd shape on the satellite image was). Found both and then at GZ headed into the trees, and then a bit further. Cache was soon found and log signed.TFTC GLISS! Been a while since I logged a SideTracked cache

24-Aug-23
Day 2 of a short trip heading north.with Robmc. Left Jugiong this morning and now heading to the ACT for one night.

Our first DNF for the day which was a shame. We searched for a very long time before admitting defeat and moving on.

Might be time for a CO check up.

Some really nice engines here and good to see the railway history acknowledged and displayed.
Quite a few railway themed caches today. Lots of rain yesterday made the going wet underfoot but all good at GZ. A good straightforward multi

Logging with Cybergran on Day 3 of our Yass and environs adventure.
Thanks Gliss

12-Jun-22
I had collected the information yesterday, but ran out of time, returned today for a quick find. Thanks for the cache GLISS!

10-Jun-22
Managed this one while Mrs SKI was doing some shopping. Collected the required information and did the calculations for a quick find at GZ.

We moved a whole 60km today from Harden to Yass and are looking forward to the plethora of caches in the area. We were set up by lunchtime, so after a bit of shopping and a quick lunch we headed out into town to do some caching.
We found a variety of caches including trads and multis, as well as completing the Adventure Lab. It was tough going at times with some challenging hides and a few DNFs. Also some high Ts that were beyond us!
The weather was cold with a chilling wind to boot, but better than sitting in the van.

Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache GLISS!.

14-Apr-22
Travelling through Yass on a mini road trip from the coast to Cowra for an annual cycling weekend. Didn't know much about the town of Yass and this is my first visit. Used a few Geocaches to take my parents and I to some interesting spots. Great location and old trains. My grandfather worked on the railways across country NSW so I always love seeing the old stations. Pity it was closed unfortunately today as a weekday. Would have loved to go on for a closer look. FP from me for location.

13-Apr-22
Engines admired. Numbers found. Numbered computed. Then a nice little wander. What a great idea to stop over in Yass for a few days enroute to our ‘esteemed’ National capital Canberra for the NFF. The remarkable old buildings and stories of Yass’ past have been fascinating- being south of the border I didn’t know much it seems . Cache found in good nic. TFTC AND THE FUN

10-Apr-22
A brilliant little puzzle to start the day.
Thanks for the cache.

07-Apr-22
Sydney to Alice Springs Road Trip.
Day Three.

A wet wet wet morning in Yass, but the show must go on. Easy to collect the data in the rain, the cache itself wasn’t as much fun.

I really enjoy the Sidetracked Multis. Thanks Gliss!, keep them coming!

20-Feb-22
Out for a Sunday run towards Wee Jasper with Smittengranny and needing a multi for the day, headed in for this one. Have been in the museum before so was good to come back and see it again. All the required info was gathered, then a bit of a calculation and we were on our way to GZ.

Turns out though that the new 'ride safety' park behind the museum is a popular place as there were a few kids and their parents using it. Decided not to walk the area with other folk there, so left and came back later. No issue then and the cache was spotted nice and easily once at GZ. Log signed and we were back to the air con car.

Thanks GLISS!....always enjoy a train museum, so a fav point added.

09-Jan-22
I was driving around the Yass district with Smudgeycat and stopped off here for a look around and to find the cache. We parked the car not too far from gz and then it was just a short walk over. I was worried that we wouldn't be able to obtain the necessary info because the area was fenced, but the answers were staring us right in the face. With the new coords, and after reading the hint, we were off in search. After a short look I spotted a likely hiding place and then the cache tucked away there. Signed the log and then replaced it all as found.
Then it was back to the car and onto the next place.
TFTC Big Grin

26-Nov-21
Decided to do a run out past Yass to collect some challenge caches on a horrible day. A couple of DNF's, a lot of waterlogged caches/logs and a few dodgy parks. Got to use a fast charger for the first time on the way back, so that was exciting.

Found this one while the car was charging nearby. Thanks for placing.....and what a cool 'learn to ride' spot they have just built!

06-Nov-21
A quick multi while out with GLISS! an Nibletricecakes. Thank you

On our last visit 29/6, we gathered the required information and did the
calculations, but it was a DNF for us.
Back today after reading that the container had been replaced, and we
added our name to the log. Great museum.
Many thanks for placing this cache, GLISS!, for us and others to find.

22-Aug-21
Found @ 10:52am - my first find as a Yass resident

Sunday is my long stroll and I had inadvertently collected the first set of numbers on last week’s stroll. With a targeted approach this week, the second set of numbers were quickly found and calculations completed.

Another short stroll and the cache was in hand.

Thanks GLISS!

Thanks for hiding this cache GLISS!

06-Aug-21
Headed up to Yass for some sun and a bit of caching.
After lunch, we tackled a few town caches.

Arrived at the given co-ords, and found the required information.
Walked onto GZ, and after a lengthy search, no container was found.

Sadly a DNF here, for us today.
Thanks for the hunt anyway, GLISS!.

29-Jun-21
Pretty sure I solved correctly and have the right location. Maybe because it’s on dusk I just can’t see it, but no luck today. Couple of good old engines in the rail yard

Found on a trip around central New South Wales with e.gregory1. Our original plans were to travel through Bourke, Cunamulla and Toowoomba to attend the Dayboro event in Queensland and return via Port Macquarie and central NSW, but a series of events that included road closures due to flooding in southern inland Queensland, a covid outbreak in Brisbane and widespread storm damage and road closures along the north coast of NSW resulted in multiple changes of plans during the trip. As it eventuated our travels took us to central New South Wales, on a route from Broken Hill to Cobar, Nyngan, and Gunnedah from where we meandered southwards through some great scenery and historic towns that included Dunedoo, Wellington, Cowra and Yass. We then headed in a roughly westerly direction through to Temora, Wagga Wagga, Deniliquin and Swan Hill before making a final dash for home. All up we found a good mix of Traditionals, Puzzle Caches, Multicaches, Adventure Labs, Wherigos, Earthcaches, Letterbox Hybrids and Virtual Caches on a very entertaining and enjoyable trip. Thanks for the cache GLISS!

04-Apr-21
Found on a trip around inland NSW with FeatherWaite.

Our original intention was to attend the Mega event at Dayboro in Queensland, travelling up via Broken Hill, Bourke, Cunamulla and Toowoomba, then home via the NSW coast to Port Macquarie then on to Adelaide via central NSW. However, the Covid outbreak in Brisbane forced us to reconsider, particularly given that the Mega and associated events were within the area of concern and we may have had difficulty re-entering NSW to get home and then would have had to quarantine back in SA for 14 days.

The floods in the north and east of NSW also hampered our travel plans. But we were able to develop a new plan that took us on a very pleasant tour around country NSW, picking up some interesting caches along the way.

Thanks GLISS! for the cache.

20-Jan-21
A nice quick and easy find. Coordinates are spot on

18-Jan-21
My goal for today was to find at least 9 caches including 1 multi and 1 mystery cache. I managed to find all that I attempted - a total of 16 caches . It was a beautiful day for caching and when I need these sort of numbers I turn to numerous PT of All7 to boost my numbers on my calendar as comparatively, I have not done a lot of caching in the ACT. Thanks to all COs for the placing and maintaining of these caches. All logs were signed SG.

This was a good quick find once I worked out where the GZ was and I took nothing but left a pathtag. Thanks Gliss! love this series as I am so often sidetracked when caching.

17-Jan-21
Lovely day for some geocaching with geokiddies and grandparents. Trains were cool too!

02-Jan-21
Didn't even need to get out if the car for the information for the final location, a lovely little station though. At GZ I scared a few birds sitting on the cache, nice quick find, and I found a golf ball nearby. TFTC

out on a expedition to yass
Thanks for cache

29-Dec-20
Found on a caching expedition out to Yass with sebass19: from 9:30am to 7pm, 51 caches! It was good to find a few more SideTracked caches today on our trip! Parked right in front of the trains, quickly did some math and then walked straight over to GZ for a quick find. It was awesome to take a closer inside the fences of the museum; and the journey to GZ was lovely. TNLNSL. TFTC GLISS!!

The Day: Lovely weather this weekend and Aquilus and I planned a long overdue attack on some of the new caches around Yass that we had heard so much about and which looked quite intriguing.

After most of Pebbles guests were due to depart midday, that is when we arranged our start. As the days are nice and long this seemed to plenty of time, although we did run out of light in the end but only after we had hours and hours of fun with the new and old caches up here.

We had a few that we were particularly keen on. Burdern of Sisyphus was one of them which we did early on before we ran into Sui soon after. (Just amazing!) And bowning creek was another which sounded super intriguing and turned out to be cooler than my wildest dreams. It was great to have the CO there for this and many other of his caches we did. Not just for the mischievous smiles/laugh Razzor the TOTT that help with browning Red Faceor the occasional hints he gave (between laughing with glee Twisted, but for a very fun and cheery company [^].

Aquilus' company was, as always, very enjoyable and we had an absolute blast with so many cool and inovative caches around. We didn't quite get to do them all, so will be back for more.

This cache: The local youth did not take much notice of our wired doing, or if so not sure what they would have made of it. We turned this into a quick find at GZ, all in good order.

Thank you GLISS! for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

It was a lovely spring day, no forecast of rain and a perfect day to be out enjoying the beautiful green countryside up around Yass. With Flintstone's driving and my company for the day we made our way north to find what we could of the newer caches up around the area, and a few of the older ones as we passed by as well.

We had a number of must do caches, some we had heard a lot about and came prepared with a selection of TOTTS that may help the cause. A great selection of caches greeted us and I loved the variety, with Burden of Sisyphus we hit the challenge early on... I say 'we' but really have Flintstone's to thank for tackling the bulk of what was required through out the day.

I had head that many of these required trees, its true. However with the right TOTT these are achievable and not difficult to access, just need to spot them first! Lightly camouflaged caches was the theme of the day, some taking a little more time than others, the neck took a stretching with the looking up required! Not all up though and a variety of hiding locations and objects greeted us.

Met up with the Sui through the day and a loan of a TOTT that was useful for a certain cache, we had one that would have worked but this one was, well, best for this location! The three of us made our way around, my logs may be brief as not to spoil what awaits... but the CO has had the enjoyment and knowledge of how they really went! Wink

A really enjoyable day and looking forward to being able to return for the many caches we still have to find. A great effort in the construction, thought and placement of these caches, had us searching but I liked that, its all part of the fun, and well... we do this for the fun, right?! Many thanks to Flintstone's for his driving, navigating, finding, TOTTS, climbing, wading, good coffee and company! Thanks for your cache that led us around on this lovely day.

Loved the old trains and buildings, was a bit unexpected hidden back here and then off for the cache which was well tucked away but didn't take long to spot from the right angle.
