We have done this walk a couple of times many years ago before this cache was here. A short walk up to find it today. tftc
This was a nice walk from the gate to here When we arrived the hint made sense and a easy find all good here Thanks
HS and I remembered to bring along our walking poles to assist us on our walk along Branch walkway. Thanks for the clear instructions, cache was soon in hand. Tftc Pohanginagirls.
Four years later and this blue face has changed to a nice smiley face and it certainly was not a diff cache to locate . However , the track , after all the rain etc and being winter was very squelchy mud and we were very glad of our walking poles especially on the steep slopes. We decided not to go on to the next cache as it had had several DNF s and rain was once again threatening so we turned back down to the car . The comment earlier by a cacher No need to close the Gate " had me wondering but of course there is no net to close the gate if you have not opened it ! Thank you for this cache .
Quick find, last out this way in 2017, track has been cut back so made for good walking, thanks for the placement
After a busy long weekend of gardening, cleaning and groceries in preparation for our daughters wedding next weekend we reckoned we could manage a trip up Pohangina Valley for the new Ad Lab, and I noted a couple of possible Trad caches I'd skipped last time. Both were found, both were lonely with no finds since Nov 2011, so 15 months of solitude improved with my pen! Great quick walks for both caches, many thanks to the CO(s)
Whilst mrs c prepared picnic lunch I headed down the hill on foot past the washed out road (a stream runs through it now at the low point). A qick stroll up the slope and was soon at GZ and the cache was soon sighted. All good and name added to log and replaced as found.

What an awesome trail. If it weren’t for Geocaching we would’ve never found it.
A quick and easy find once at GZ. The Weather Forecaster inside was so neat - didn’t have anything to swap with so took a photo.
All was well here. TFTC!

Enjoyed an afternoon exploring the Pohangina village and surrounding valley. Would not have got to the walkway if it hadn’t been for geocaching. Enjoyed a peaceful stroll up the hill for the two caches. Happy to give it a favourite. Great sunset from the village once I finished the walk. Thanks for the smiley.
with being a long weekend we decided on another trip to the Manawatu.
we based ourselves in Ashurst. with lots of caches around the general area.
main idea was to complete the 20/20 series which we had all the solves for now, plus anything else.
we checked ourselves into local pub, arriving just with enough time to have a couple of beers.
plan today head up thr valley one side back down the other.
caches all in fairly good order.
thanks to the owners for the placements.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... Roaming around the wide open spaces of the Manawatu this weekend. We’ve had the caching brakes on for far too long, and it’s a weekend to cut loose.
We’ve walked part of this track before and it’s a bit of a burn to the top. Today’s effort was a comfortable walk. No problem spotting this one at the right angle. Thanks pohanginagirls and TFTC.

Took longer than it probably should have for us to find this, nice excuse to walk partway up the track. Keep meaning to come and do the whole walk someday! TFTC
Entering from Kuku Road, unfortunately we failed to spot the track heading up the hill just after the gate, and continued along on the flat. On getting near the cache, we climbed a steep sandy bank, but this didn't seem to get us anywhere so at that stage we gave up. Returning to our car, we discovered the correct track and headed up it, for a much nicer route to the cache, which didn't take too long to find. The second part of the hint made sense to us, but we couldn't solve the meaning of the first part. TFTC
Very nice find with woolwood9 while attending the Halloween events at Totara Reserve.

Today's plan was locate and sign off any many as I could on the western side of the Pohangina River so mainly up the Pohangina Rd.
I initially set the girls straight on this one and suggested this GZ 16 months ago and am glad to see it still up and running. Now I can sign it off.
Cheers for the cache.

There were a few vehicles parked up at the start of the track but we didn't see anyone until we reached GZ where a couple were gathering pine cones.
When we looked at the phone it said 4 mts away so we had little choice but to explain why we were there. They had no idea what geocaching was but when I said it involved finding a container, one of them said do you mean that one up there and pointed to it. We laughed and said yip. It was a little exposed so we covered it a little with pine cones - still easy to spot though.
I left a pet rock - a swan.
Thanks for setting this up for us to find.

I have just been up to the geocache, and it is in the right place still. I have updated the camouflage as well.
No luck here. Could not make sense of the hint and found myself scrambling up a bank before giving up. I must have missed something. My only DNF for today.
Enjoyed the short walk to this one. A very large tree has fallen over the track recently but has been tidied up. Just as well, it must have been impassable. Liked the hint - found quickly. Covered it up a bit better, thanks pohanginagirls. Only saw the sign about the track being closed as I walked out. However, only pine trees in this section, no farming.
What a lovely place you walk so good to visit the area once more thank you for placing a cache here no muggles around nice quick find here today tftc
After doing the new trail from palmy to linton we headed to the pohaingna valley to tidy up a few loose ends for watcache as well as a bit of maintenance.
All in order here TFTC

A pleasant walk in the forest today and a quick find on arrival at GZ.Wrote the log and re-concealed carefully.TFTC!
What a treat Mrs G chose for Mother's Day - first a drive up the Pohangina Valley, coloured today in beautiful watercolours of blues, purples, and greens with glowing autumn highlights of auburn, red and gold. Then the three new Girl Guide caches in the Pohangina Village area, followed by Devonshire scones and Mother's Day treats at County Fayre - perfect.
We appreciated the thought the Girl Guides had put into crafting their attractive caches, including the handmade logbooks.
First cache stop was at the Branch Walkway. It was a lovely walk up to the cache and back, and very peaceful. The cache was a straightforward find with a good hint. We had not long re-hidden it and were only a few metres back down the track when some more walkers came along - so we were just in time. TFTC

Need two caches today for my personal challenge, so a morning trip up to Pohangina to find the three new caches. Nice little morning walk. Thanks pohanginagirls for this cache.
Quick find with TwigNZ and SearchSteve on a FtF run* after the Star Wars event.
...except someone beat us to it by going on a FtF run *before* the event. Oh Well
*Maybe Stroll would be a better description than Run... Running is an activity reserved for emergency purposes only!

Having attended a Geo event in Ashhurst today, 3 of us decided that with 2 potential FTF's on offer in this area we would pop up to see if we could find them.
The first of these that we had stopped at was a frustrating DNF, and then at the second one (this one) we discovered we had been beaten to the punch and so had to settle for a joint {STF}.
It was relatively quick find for us here today, thanks to accurate co-ordinates and a helpful Hint. The logbook itself turned out to be a re-used old one which was good, although I felt that it could have done with being in a plastic bag as added protection from the (almost inevitable) water ingress that is likely to occur in such hides. The exterior of the container has obviously had some attempts to camouflage it, but this hasn't been terribly successful due to poor choice of adhesives. Nice idea, but needed better execution.
Thanks for placing this cache.

FTF wahoo our very first to find with Ethness. Lovely morning to be out walking up this way, lots of bird song. A lovely handmade cache logbook by the guides. Reduce reuse recycle. Didn’t do these activities in our time back in the day as girl guides. TFTC
A joint FTF with LNM1961 - their first. A great sunny morning to be caching. From one old Girl Guider to a whole lot of younger ones, well done. Love the handmade log book and perfect clue.
Signed underneath the finders of the previous cache GC86NGH. Good to see you reusing/recycling the log book . TFTC

After the fun StarWars get-to-gether hosted by Rattl at Ashhurst Domain a few of us decided to try for a FTF or two up the Pohangina Valley
Little did we know that LNM1961 and Ethness had beaten us to this one.
So after a nice walk it was {2TF} for TwigNZ, Etherlord and myself... and why not try for just one more cache up this gully while we are here...
