Passing through, heading south. I was pressed for time but thought I'd make a quick stop to look for one cache in town.Searched high and low and all around ... but nothing. Luckily, not that much traffic either on foot or tyres. Better luck next time I pass through town ...TFTC ...
Popped into town to get some dinner and took advantage of the quiet streets. It took a hot minute but we let our fingers do the detaching and came up with the goods. *The generic bit for this trip*We are on now on our way south after heading north for warmer weather. From Cooktown back to Notth East Victoria, weaving inland and to the coast, caching as we go. No real plans, just taking each day as it comes and enjoying the adventure in our converted ambulance. Thanks to all COs for placing and maintaining caches for our enjoyment.
A quick visit back across the country for my daughters engagement, so of course i had to grab a few new hides since my last visit. This one was a piece of cake on a lazy Sunday and with a good hint!TFTC BenM70
This was my second time visiting this cache. Same as last time a group of taxi drivers was taking an extended break on the bench looking straight at GZ. Fortunately this time around they all disappeared after a short while, finally allowing me to commence a proper search. The hint helped to narrow down where this little bugger could be hidden. Thanks for this very popular cache, nice placement. Thank you very much BenM70 for creating the Micro sized 2.0/2.0 Traditional Geocache Welcome to Ayr.
Wouldnt have stopped here had it not been for the cache, it was worth a favorite point from me
No luck for me today. I did tried to searched and not right muggles keep watch medo give up. DNF Thank you for placing the cache BenM70.
After lunch bunadoorian and I came here to find this cache. After a long look bunadoorian soon had the cache in hand. TFTC and for bringing us here BenM70
After a bit of a search I finally found this little one. I'm not sure about the hint but a find is a find. TFTC.
Found 10:14 17/8/2023. The fountain was orange today. Thank you BenM70 for the cache and bringing me to this location.
In Ayr visiting Burdekin Shire Council for work. Caught up with a geocacher at council who is looking at using it to promote the area. Found this one in a typical Nano spot after a few minutes search. It is well camouflaged black on black. Thanks.
I managed to have a quick look whilst passing the area earlier this week but was unable to stop for long but the cache was not in any of the spots I had previously seen it. But as of today you would have to assume the cache is definitely no longer there as all of original GZ structure is being replaced with some very impressive new art structures.
Still no luck here has me stumped and the local swine decided that hanging around a fountains enough to pull up and act like usual idiots they r
Nice quick find by PP2 whilst I tried to act nonchalant and hide the search . Tftc
The fountain is dry today, I tried my best to look at nooks and crannies. Couldn't find it
I made the find today when there was a break in traffic with my nephews FootballHeadWill and TC-14. The coordinates played up a little in us but we persevered and soon had the cache in hand.
Driving through I stopped for a coffee and a cache. Found this one a lot quicker than I thought I would! Interesting water colour ....

Sandyofthesea and I took off from Perth at the start of April to travel more of Australia using geocaching as a guide to see the sights. How good is this country!!
BenM70, I found Welcome to Ayr today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 97. Ayr Day 1. For my first day in Ayr, I set my eye on five cache to the north and in Ayr itself. I failed one, and I decided one was too far away, but the rest went well. I also did a tour of the Burdekin Machine preservation site in Brandon. A very impressive collection that would be great to see on a day everything is going on their show days.
For all the parked cars, there were not many people walking about. I happened to sit on the correct side first and had my hand on it before I realised I had it. After a previous fence cache, I was happy about that.
Thanks for the cache BenM70

A quick find, which helped a bit to make up for the previous two failures; someone sitting at GZ so I couldn't search, and a DNF. Found this one though. TFTC BenM70.
On the hunting trail again with SeasonedBird. I’ll leave the more interesting & detailed log to Mrs Geo (aka: SeasonedBird, Salty Chook, the Old Boiler, Old Chook, Dirty Bird, Angry Bird & occasionally even Love Bird) because she writes so much more eloquently than I and usually has much more time to do so while I’m driving. It’s a great day for caching. TFTC BenM70

An amazing quaint country town
Looking back over our trip from WA to the CacheQld Mega, Townsville, we have a few spare moments to put a smiley on some more of the caches we have signed as TC along our journey.
It’s amazing to see the country through the eyes of a geocacher
Especially seeing the beaut local spots
Thanks to all the COs for sharing these great stops along the way, making our joy all the more interesting.

A brilliant idea to have shade crossings and a handy feature for loiterers like geocachers. [^] Thought our sleuthing skills would be tested here but MrG spotted it quickly. TFTC BenM70.
Mr C had a quick find while I was looking forward to seeing the coloured water, but alas the fountain was not coloured today. Found with a new log sheet in it. Coongoola & Geodog are on an adventure after attending the Townsville Mega event in Qld. We found your cache today 28 April 2022 10:26 am , while enjoying another day out adding to our tally. TFTC BenM70
Quick find, not alot of people in the pub and taxi drivers were conversing on the other side of their cars.TFTC

First find of the day, before I headed out of town. Lucky it was early in the morning and there were no muggles about.
I went with my sister and we looked in every nook and crany and still couldn't find it after a good 15 minutes ??
Caching today in and from Bowen to Townsville as we are attending the Mega this weekend. After a short search the cache was found, the log signed and cache returned where found. TFTC Signed as TC
Travelling on the way to Townsville with ilook4geo and picking up the occasional cache along the way. Many thanks go to BenM70 for placing this cache which we enjoyed finding and retrieving. Log was signed and carefully replaced as found.
Northward toward Townsville for the mega and doing some caching along the way of course. Getting there soon with goingplaces2 and say thank you to BenM20 for putting this cache into play for us to find as we go.
Making our way to Townsville and we decided to stop in at this one on our way through. This one took us a while to stop while trying to dodge the blue water. I eventually put my hands on this sneaky cache. And then swearah nearly pushed us in the water for a photo signed as 3AC's. Tftc BenM70 ️
Good thing the gps wasn’t needed here. Jodsta83 coming up with the goods with out being covered in blue water.
The fountain was a pretty blue today. It was a little windy though, so we might also be a light shade of blue
Jodsta83 made the find in a spot Stephyy and I had already checked. Typical!!
Thanks for the cache, BenM70

A quick trip into Ayr on our drive from Brisbane to Townsville! The water in the fountain is blue!
We bumped into another geocacher who is from Adelaide at GZ. Since he had found the little nano, we agreed to do the rolling up of the tiny sheet of paper.
Log signed.
Thanks BenM70

Townsville Mega -Day One
My first time to Ayr, I don’t think I’ve been to the Scottish one either. Look how blue the water is! I ended up handing the cache on to the next finder, which is what I always imagined a mega would be like.
Thanks BenM70

Heading north to the Townsville mega and this was a must do cache so we fulfill the LGA! It was busy in town today with many cars driving past. I admired the artwork while looking and soon spotted the prize, got some splash from the fountain as I signed the log. All good here, tftc
We are heading up to the Townsville mega with micaparamedic, Geoturtle37 and Papi4506 chasing as many Adventure Labs that we can along the way.
After grabbing the Mackay one yesterday we headed to Proserpine to camp for the night.
After completing the Proserpine ad lab wpt this morning we were picking up caches on our way to Charters Towers.
We wish we had a dollar for every "Welcome to" sign we have visited since we started geocaching as we would have a lot more money to put fuel in and visit more of them, although not as many as we could have a couple of months ago.
This one wasn't at the start of the town though but rather in the middle and also quite elaborate.
A few people around made the searching a little bit more difficult and we split up a little bit and Papi4506 had the cache in hand in the second place he looked which made everybody happy and we can now say that our names have been added to the log.
To save room in the log we signed as "The Vics"
Thanks BenM70 for the cache.

Not going to mention names, but someone in the team made this a much longer hunt than it should have been when they checked the right spot but said it wasn’t there. After looking all over the place, the other team member checked the first spot and immediately revealed the cache. TFTC BenM70
Great spot and pretty sign. The marble sign across from here is also worth a look.
Having a great time making our way to the Townsville Mega with Team Crackers, Micaparamedic and Geoturtle37. We were lucky that there weren't more muggles about as it was definitely hard to conceal what we were doing. With so many of us, hopefully we weren't too obvious.
Thanks for placing the cache for us to find.

Day 3 of our Tour de Ville… having overnighted in Mackay we’re heading to Townsville…
Again, TMZ59 is at the wheel of the Habanero Sport, Patrol14 is up front and I’m having to constantly apologise to Imbunda in the back about covering her shirt in my milk…
This cache wasn’t on any list… but then we started the Adventure in Mackay (pronounced McQuey) and anyway, here we are… about fours hours behind schedule…
I’ve just learnt that we need caches that contain place names in the title!!! We’ve already travelled 2,200 km and now I learn this…
This cache should almost finalise a crazy challenge cache in Townsville… I swear 12 months ago I didn’t know what an LGA was, let alone how to spell it…
Something about the cache… quick find on the obvious feature… didn’t even need to turn the headlamp on…
Tftc… log signed as TDV - Tour de Ville…?? well not the first time… first mark was AYR… it’s been a long day, and I’m not even driving!!!

As we venture north to Townsville for the Mega, with Tour de Ville (Imbunda, Peppa, patrol14 and myself). After a few distraction on our way to the Ville. This was our last cache for the day. Logged as TDV. TFTC. ??????
Today was our 3rd day of our trip to Townsville for the MEGA Event and our group consisted of TMZ59, Patrol14, Peppa and me and as we stayed in Mackay last night we decided to get some of the caches on our to do list to help fill some spaces in our Challenges. Log signed and cache replaced as found. TFTC
6.55pm
Third day of our trip to Townsville for the MEGA and we (Peppa, TMZ59., Imbunda and I) have a list of caches to do along the way. This was one of them for another LGA or special attribute needed for a challenge.
A quick drive through town to this cache and looking all around, Peppa located this cache. SL then returned as found.
Found on 11 April 2022. TFTC, BenM70.

Mega Bound - Mackay to Townsville
Most of the focus was on the very large number of "Big Things" on this road, but we did manage to stop for a cache or two. Arrived in Townsville mid-afternoon and grabbed a few local caches while doing touristy stuff!
A quick find without looking too dodgy! TFTC.

Today’s plan was to make my way from Mackay and arrive in Townsville but nightfall. Caching along the way and grabbing a few important to me caches, lol. It is just a 3.5 hr drive normally however this drive will take me all day and some. I had to be ready for work in the morning so it was a day of find what I could. Some were stops to stretch the legs. I am sorry if I did not write a note below as some caches stood out and others I just do not remember. I signed the log and replaced the cache as I found it. Thanks for placing it here.
The coordinates had me in a completely different spot, but using my geosenses I rather figured out where it might be. With no one around here today, it was a very easy find.

Out caching with a family friend finally another success find in the Burdekin. TFTC
After a while of looking on two attempts, finally looked at the picture to show what it looked like. Read all the hints and previous comments, looked in every nook and cranny, still no luck.
My daughter was too embarrassed about everyone staring at us to continue the hunt lols
Thought I'd check on this cache while we were waiting for a taxi. To start with I thought it was missing as it wasn't anywhere near where we had found it but we have learnt that caches don't always get put back where they are found and sure enough after a quick search the cache was found safe and sound on the opposite side of the structure.
The “short person” walked straight past this one thinking she had given the area a good hard look! Luckily the taller person found it quickly.
Once more we are on the road today continuing our journey north. Today we are leaving Bowen and making our way towards Town#ville, stopping as we are able to grab any accessible caches that pop up on our way.
Thanks go to all the local, and the few not so local, CO’S for placing the caches for us to find. Without you we would have no pursuit to take part in. We appreciate your efforts, and thank you for your time.
