I'm in Auckland for a couple of days and for a change it has nothing to do with work (up the Irons!). So I've got nothing to stop my caching activities except being limited to public transport. Maybe I'll spot a Yeti with his very distinctive coat (GCAT2T2). (I didn't but I know he was up the front there somewhere).Pretty muntered container. All good here, and thank you to TheCoblets for the placement of your Traditional Cache.Find #7104 at 17 September 2024 11:16am
Good hide! Logbook a bit damp and lid cracked but still able to sign. TFTC Thecoblets.
Did know where this was but a lovely day meant there was a constant stream of muggles. Had to watch the ducks for awhile before finally making the find. Lid won't screw on properly. Tftc
Trying to finish this series and the accompanying Ad Lab around the basin, with a couple more to get.On approach, had an idea where it would be and once the slow muggles had passed by, quickly retrieved the cache. Code duly noted and now to work out the final . TFTC
**#20,974**Last of the Scooby Series, now we have enough codes to work out the final location!Good to get a few Ad Lab stages ticked off too.
Yess clever hide! Bit of a trouble to extract without alerting those nearby but got it in the end. Tftc
Another nice are to walk around and collect some caches the cache was nicely concealed. Unfortunately the lid is broken mainly because the container is a tad too large for the space available..log all good and signed. Replaced as found thanks The Coblets for the hide
Fortunately, I had written down the clues as we went. I thought the final may have been disabled as I couldn't see it (didn't look properly). Thankfully, there was shade to work out the final. That's for another day!! Thanks for the series TheCoblets
Another find by Panmure basin. Had us stumped for a bit as local knowledge would probably help. But caching intuition kicked in and we soon had the cache logged and returned. No lid, but contents fine. TFTC
Found it on a cloudy Friday while in the area with MissMoo+2. Thank you for this one.
After an event a few members of Team SEAC did some afternoon caching. Trying to knock off some pesky DNF's and a general sweep of the area to try and clean up some green dots.It was just Mr HeMaLuDy and Mr NZT now as the others had bailed due to the heat and air conditioned homes awaiting. We tried to find an area that we both hadn't cached the Panmure Basin looked good. We walked almost twice around the Basin as the bridges is closed for maintenance.Had to wait for quiet a few muggles to walk past before we made the quick easy find here and now we have all the clues to the final... YAY!TFTC
At an event in the morning at which HeMaLuDy and Stik-A-Crane jointly celebrated 10 years of caching a plan was instigated to return and re-attempt some DNF's and perhaps locate a few more as well. With the bridge being closed we walked almost twice around the basin collecting trads, Adlabs and bonus's. As we approached the GZ we knew exactly where it would be however we slowed down to let some muggles move ahead of us, then we had to wait for some more muggles coming towards us and to pass. Then we made the find so no one knew what we were up to. We also now had all the required info to determine the location for the bonus cache. A quick bit of paperwork and we were on our way to the bonus GZ. TFTC.
#11053:Day 219. Today I wanted to tick off two Local Boards, so we headed to Panmure Basin to start us off. Our planned loop of the basin was ruined by the Jubilee Bridge being closed. We couldn't see it mentioned in any of cache logs around here, so ended up feeling so frustrated having to double our walk in order to reach all the stages. We totalled 10.4km.After completing two Ad Lab stages, we reached our first physical cache. It had a tough hint, and I had to Google it to work out what it meant. I eventually found Daphne after lifting the camo with some difficulty. TFTC.
I don't restart work again until the 8th of Jan. With free accommodation I decided a geocaching holiday in Auckland was a good way to spend this week off. Most of the week I geocached with Yvettetb but the beginning and end I was on my own. Tuesdays focus area was around the Orakei Basin area and Saint John's. Wednesday we ended up caching in the Waitakeries and finished up in Glen Eden, New Lynn and Waterview. Thursday we geocached around Blockhouse Bay, Green Bay and Titirangi. Today we decided to finish off a few out here before Yvettetb had to leave. I then cached around the Panmure Basin and the new subdivision Stonefields.I out did myself this week. I walked 27,000 steps on Tuesday, 22,406 on Wednesday, 25,500 on Thursday, 15,000 on Friday and 23,800 on Saturday. A big geocaching/walking week. I was keen to return to this area because I'd done the old series around here. With them archived my map looked blank around the Basin. I parked nearby and walked to a few before moving the car and walking again. Luckily I didn't decide to walk the whole track as the pedestrian bridge at the end of Watene Road was closed.A quick find here once the cyclist passed. The container has been squashed by the cover and the lid no longer fits. It could do with another container before the contents get lost. I liked the themed caches. I used to watch this series on TV many years ago with the kids. Thanks for the new hides
I have been visiting Auckland for the holidays, but today I will be driving to visit friends in Northland. The weather has been forecast to get very wet around lunchtime, so I wanted to see if I could find some caches before that happened.I have walked around this lagoon many times in the past, but haven't been here for a few years and a lot of the caches here have changed over that time, including this new series of Scooby Doo caches. So parking up near the Yacht Club, with the sky merely grey, I set off on an anticlockwise direction.Unfortunately for me, by the time I was about a third of the way around the lagoon it had started to drizzle, and by the time I was half way around I was very much regretting not grabbing my raincoat out of the car! Oh well, it's not like it's cold, and I have a change of clothing in the car, so I soldiered on.The find here was quick, and I'd soon taken care of the logging. I have to report that the container is damaged, with a broken lid, but the contents appear to be fine otherwise. Thanks for setting this one up.
Day 20: To Howick and through the Rotary WalkTodays journey took us to the East of Auckland where we spent a little bit of time exploring Howick before I embarked on a long walk from Pigeon Mountain to Panmure via the Rotary Walkway. It was a beautiful walk along the Tamaki River which I really enjoyed. Thanks for all the caches in the area, these will be some of my last caches on this trip to NZ!(End of the cut and paste bit)This is the specific log for this cache: Fifth of the round and I knew where this was going to be. Had to wait for a break in the crowds before I could get it out. The lid is quite broken but all is still dry thanks to its well sheltered spot. TFTC! And now, on to the bonus!
Was walking round the Basin this morning and thought it would be rude not stop and grab this one. Nice quick find d. TFTC
Find #160. This one was a bit different! Container lid was broken, as was the zip lock bag. Log book looks to have been recently replaced so it’s a bit of a pity that the cache is looking a bit worse for wear! TFTC, I enjoyed this series.
Both being Scooby Doo fans as kids, AliGle and I decided to check out this series of caches around the Panmure Basin, together with the Scooby Adventure Lab here. We enjoyed our loop walk here, which was often busy with muggles, so we had to pick the right moments to retrieve some of the caches. Another spot that had a lot of muggle traffic, but lucky we knew exactly where the cache would be. TFTC!
Found with Vistra while doing the Mysteries of Panmure Basin Ad Lab. Loved Scooby Doo as a child, so this one totally appeals to my nostalgic inner child. Had to be swift and stealthy with this one with so many muggles out for some late afternoon exercise. Now, to work out the bonus! Tftc
Today was the day to complete this series. It has been on my to do list for sometime but today was the 1st time I was in the area and had time. Enjoying my walk. Cache quickly signed but the lid was broken and when I put it back it fell out so had to replace again. Thank you for the placement
At first couldn't work out the hint, but as we approached the bridge I worked it out. We had to look at the ducks for some time until the muggles finally moved on. I had just finished signing the log when another Muggle and his dog appeared, but they didn't seem interested in what I was doing and once they had carried on with their walk I replaced the cache.
On an afternoon trip up to Auckland and first we walked up and down Mt Wellington to pick up
the caches there then we came over here to the Panmure basin. I was after the earthcache here and managed to pick this cache up as well but didn’t have time for the others. Great spot TFTC

Found! First time I've been able to get into one of these Managed to perfectly time extraction with muggles. Left a SwiftMantis fine art vinyl sticker for next cacher. TFTC
We continued our walk onto this cache enjoying the stroll. When we got to the bridge Mr b said is it around here? Oh I'll check ..... 5m away as I was telling mr b it was indeed here he already had the cache in hand..... Good geo sence!! We hadn't even read anything about the cache at this point. I was very impressed with him.
We look forward to a morning walk tomorrow to find the rest of these caches.
Thanks for placing the cache TheCoblets.
Find number 4690.

Found this one while going around doing the Earthcache. I wasn't even meaning to stop and hadn't checked exactly where the cache was, but I came up to GZ and spotted what looked like a likely hiding spot. Had a closer look and yes, there's a cache in there!!
All good here, thanks! Noted the code number for a future visit, since I'd like to come back and do the series another time

A nice quick find. Now to work out the final.... Thanks.
I'm in Auckland to house sit while my mother is overseas visting family. Today started out a blue sky day. I should have got out a bit earlier as it was wet and windy later in the day.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Daphne is geokid 6’s favourite so she was excited to discover the cache first. Thanks again .
Found within seconds. Randomly checked the first thing i was looking at and it so happened to be there lol
Very cool hiding place. Didn't want to move first, but then it worked.

My caching buddy paraonegirl made quick work of finding this one.
So many ducks hanging out here!

Started early to try avoid muggles, but Damn alot of runners walkers out this morning. All intact , on to the final
We had a good vantage point to keep an eye out for muggles here fortunately. We didn't have to wait long for a break either. Last one before we were able to figure out the final . The heat was already getting too much for the eldest of our two geohounds. Tftc
Our first for the day, have previously done a trail along here so back to do this fun one today. TFTC
Quick find here for the first in the series. Had to wait for the previous finders to move on from GZ before having a look. TFTC

Was out exploring this area today as due to COVID restrictions we had not done so for many weeks.
Decided to park by the model train station and walk around on this sunny (but windy!) day.
Had seen the previous DNFs on this one, but after reading the hint we knew just where to look as have seen many LPCs on YouTube.
Cache in great condition, coordinate numbers noted too.

**NZ Mega 2020 is definitely happening, but has been postponed until 2021. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 22 to 25 October 2021. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:**
• 20+ years of geocaching worldwide.
• 20+ years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
• All the 20s and now 21 as well!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of this event - you won't want to miss it!

Will remember this cache as a local kingfisher was watching us as we picked up this cleverly hidden cache.
Walking around the Panmure Basin to secure the Mystery Machine series - and get some fresh air after lockdown.
A quick find.

Replaced log and code number. The Daphne figurine was missing so replaced her as well.
First cache on the trail and an easy find with good coordinates and a nice hide here. T F T C TheCoblets.
Part 2 of the caching day involved a drop off at Sylvia Park and a circuit of Panmure Basin for the Earthcache and for the Scooby Doo quintet of trads. Although the drizzle was falling steadily I achieved almost all I sought.
As the hosting of our Whanganui family continued today was a game of 2 halves. First part of the day was a visit to the beautiful Cornwall Park and One Tree Hill. This was followed by a trip out to Sylvia Park for some retail therapy for some of the family and some caching for the remainder of the family (I'm sure people can work out who fits which profile!). The weather was a bit blah, but still good enough to get out into the fresh air. T F T C all COs.

We were bamboozled by the hint as we approached GZ, but on arrival, it became clear. We had to wait for a break in the steady flow of muggles on this sunny Sunday afternoon, but managed to retrieve, sign, & replace before any more muggles came by (which was a small miracle today!). A novel hide: this is what makes geocaching fun!
TFTC!

We actually found this back in April and forgot to log it. On another walk around the basin yesterday we were reminded of it. The kids enjoyed finding it again, just to show they could. It was such a beautiful afternoon for a walk and a perfect location for the walk. TFTC
Could not find. Looked around and under the bridge. Bushes on both sides. Also used the hint lpc but could t find it
Out and about today enjoying the beautiful weather and knocking this series of caches off my list.
I had just watched a dog pee on a hint object just like this and was reminded why I always keep hand sanitizer on me. The cache was grabbed and replaced quickly, hardly any muggles around at this location to interrupt the retrieve and replace. Now to work out the final coords for the bonus. Thanks for the cache #1013
