Day 8, Thursday 27 January - from Tokerau Beach dropping down leaving Zara in KeriKeri. Then exploring Kaikohe, Opononi and Omapere with Toby and Lenny, before returning to Zara in KeriKeri. The fishy series this morning before leaving Tokerau B. Lots to do so lets get moving!

Thought while we were on the boardwalk with our whaiora, I'd check on the couple of GCs that I'd previously found here.
Unfortunately this indeed seems to be missing, and my GC Maintenance pack is not in my work vehicle

Found this one in the mud a wee bit down the track. I decided to replace it as I had a similar cache on me. Plesent walk with geopuppy. And bump into some anti vaxxers. Tftc
Quick find once at the GZ. Cache is in good order. Interesting walk out there. TFTC.
Well that was fun as my arms are short and the cache small - managed in the end. interesting area. t4tc
19 June 2021 09:47. Low tide here today, the stranded boats looked somewhat eerie! Grateful to whoever built the boardwalk. TFTC.
On our way back to Auckland from our trip up in Northland - decided to head back this way for a change to the way we came up. Pleased to come to Rawene as we holidayed here a couple of times as a child and my sisters brother-in-law used to be a captain of the Rawene - Kohukohu ferry.
We haven't walked this boardwalk before so enjoyed the very peaceful walk. Got within a few metres of the cache and had a fair idea what to expect and sure enough there was the cache - took a bit of prising out of its hidey-hole but got there in the end without dropping it. Cursed as left pen in the car so hope the CO will be happy with a "photo log" (can send if needed). Dog enjoyed the walk.
On the way back we met a nice couple from Greytown who were travelling around Northland too. Thanks for the cache - all good here.

Possibly only geocachers use this boardwalk?
No one else was spotted here, before we catch the ferry.

Quick find here with Rebel98. We had to wait for a family of muggles to pass us on the boardwalk before returning the cache and adding natural camo to hide the cache. First to sign the new log - thankyou for replacing the cache.
Have been over and checked this hide. All new container and well concealed in place. All ready to go thx. Enjoy the boardwalk.
Roadtrip time, day 8.
I have used the Easter weekend combined with taking 4 days leave this week to get in a 9-day driving tour, hoping to get as far north as 90 mile beach in order to seek the recently published PWGT caches throughout Northland, as well as catch up with 4 different sets of friends.
Having spent last night at the campground in Opononi, I knew today would be a bit of a mad dash to try to get up to Pukenui and then back down to Kaiwaka by this evening, especially with the section of SH1 between Okaihau and Kaitaia still out of action due to a slip. I knew I would see a lot of SH10 today.
More virgin NZ territory for me, having never been here before. Quite a nice little part of the country, and I wish I had known about this ferry earlier as I may well have taken advantage of it to cut out a fair bit of driving today, but now I know better for next time.
I loved the walk through the mangroves here. Great idea for a cache, and once at GZ I found a very likely location for it, but no cache. Reading through previous logs, it maybe seems that this cache is being unfairly targeted for theft?

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... Chasing down the last few PWGT caches for Section Tahi. We’re whipping through Northland this weekend at a cracking pace. No time to enjoy the scenery or smell the roses - it’s a pity...
We looked for access into this hide but could only find one way in. There are limited hiding places for a cache at ground zone, so this should have been straightforward. We checked previous logs and photos, and this one has definitely gone. This needs attention.

We did find GZ, and did find the hole within reaching distance of the boardwalk which matched the photo from the previous cacher, who had replaced the missing cache. The cache and its "tiled roof" were nowhere in sight.
Contacted CO to make sure I was in the right place. Have replaced the cache with a pill bottle under a tiled roof!!!
Staying in Opononi for the weekend, a quick visit to Rawene. Loved the toy shop. And this cache. Boardwalk was closed with tape, but we trod the boards anyway. Great little adventure, reading the signs about the old saw mill. Great place for a cache, all is good at GZ. Very careful not to have butter fingers and drop the container. All good here. TFTC
I can remember doing a lot of the original Golden Circle series a few years back and here I am doing some more. Plus a few more of the Little Toot series. Love driving these back roads. The CO came with me as a passenger, not certain if that was a good idea only time willl tell. Though it is great to have some company to share the fantastic scenery on these back roads.
Interesting information on the signs beside the walkway.
Cheers for the cache.

A few family members and I went into Rawene to buy some groceries and visit some sights. We decided to pick up this geocache while we were there, as the boardwalk looked like an excellent activity to do.
When we got to the boardwalk, I went a little bit ahead of the rest of my family so that they could catch up while I searched for this geocache. Once I got to GZ, I looked around for possible hiding locations, which there only appeared to be one. With a quick search, I quickly pulled it out, and with a little fiddling, I was able to open the lid to get the logsheet out and sign it. TFTC!

Stumbled upon this manic spot by accident while on holiday, thought This would be a great place to hid a cache. Low and behold, one was here! Nice use of natural camo. Logbook quite moist. TFTC
Fav of the day

A nice walk through the mangroves. The log was a bit wet but I managed to sign it anyway.
TFTC.... thought we'd go for a walk with our tangata whaiora after lunch today... and thought surely there'd be a GC here... so bonus there was!
Didnt need the phone for this one as I had an idea what I was looking for and first glance spotted something a tad different and soon had cache in hand.
No time to head to the wharf for another, but will be back!

Out and about today collecting some caches in the area. Lovely walk along the board walk to GZ. Nice hide. TFTC
Had a nice walk. I found this cache during my Irish summer holidays. Thanks for the Cache .
A neat little hide and lovely boards walks. Being a kiwi we learnt about the importance of mangroves at school. I remember we did experiments with mud crabs. One groups crabs ended up all down the school corridor -Oops! Thanks for the cache and another {FTF}
