Day 40 of our Enzed adventures with Robmc and today we headed to Hells Gate - Robmc did the walk while we had a mud bath and spa.In the afternoon we went rail cruising - a unique experience. We had time on our way to go around the lake and collect a few caches. Thanks for contributing to an amazing holiday.
Day forty of our epic New Zealand Adventure with The Morris.Staying in Rotorua, visited Hell's Gate to play in the mud, then to play on a self drive train. We did a few caches and AdLabs in between.A couple of fishermen here today, luckily this is a Virtual. The Morris sent our answer through to the CO.Thanks, Robmc.
On a road trip together with -moge-; across New Zealand; from Cape Reinga to Stewart Island; up, down, right, left ... So much to see, so much to experience. So many great, and sometimes old, cans! But I can hardly keep up with the logging. Far too exhausted from all the experiences. I am sorry that it will now be a standardized log for some founds. The answer was send by -moge- a few days ago.
Hallo Dracophyllum,DrDonna and I had something special planned for today. We were going to go zip lining and rafting. Of course, a few caches were not to be missed. Liebe Gre und vielen Dank fr die Erstellung deines Virtuellen! -moge-#############Der Cache "Weir is this view? (Bay of Plenty)" von "Dracophyllum" war fr mich Cache 6637. A lovely spot on a reasonable day out heading to The Mount. No muggles about today. A favourite point from me for setting this up virtual in such a great spot. TFTC I love the gate and the scenery here.
This Virtual enticed us to make a short detour in our travels and it was an interesting area to visit. We were interested in the number of shags flying to and fro above us. Perhaps the fishing is good here? Answer sent and logged with permission. Thanks Dracophyllum for this Virtual.
A short walk from Okawa Bay Lake Resort. Been here before when I Kayaked from my house at Ruato Bay to Holdens Bay.
Thanks for your amazing cache Dracophyllum. I really appreciate the time you took to set up and reply to your cache. This photo takes me back to about 1977 when I went fishing here at the entrance to the channel. Complete with chest waders off I went then decided to head closer to the other side where I had seen others going. Unfortunately I found a hole and lost my ballance. Luckily another fisher saw my plight and called out to direct my rod tip towards him. Thankfully he held my fly rod tip and swung me to the safety of the bank and that put paid to my return to fly fishing. Found with Fisha1288. Cheers, Cympull.
On our last full day in Rotorua, we visited the Living Mori Village of Whakarewarewa & enjoyed a tour of the village, a walk through the geothermal areas & an excellent cultural performance - all highly recommended! After our visit, we took a drive around Lake Rotorua for a couple of specific caches. This was my last stop & a straightforward task to answer the question whilst BlLbo took the requisite photo, just managing to avoid including the fisherman at GZ! The waters on the lake were quite choppy & there was a good flow through the channel today. Found at 14:30Cache #10423TFTC Dracophyllum

Cachehilsen fra Ellen Sch, NorgeMe and MrVon sr have come down to Australia and New Zealand, -an old dream has finally come to an end. Team Eika and Ingsve have also traveled with us on this trip.We have been traveling cross-country for a month, and the goal is to end up in Adeleide and mega-event on the leap year. We have especially looked for old caches, to fill jasmer'n, for a couple of pieces, and for the other two of us who have started to think about reviewing more. The vast majority of them showed up at their places, sometimes we had to search a bit, but we were usually lucky in the end. There were also some DNFs.We have mostly logged in with the common nickname N4 (ingsve, Von sr. TeamEika and Ellen Sch), but our own nicknames are also used.A big thank you to all you CO's for laying out and maintaining your caches. Without their work, we would never have been able to make a living with this hobby.Always nice to have a new smiley face on the map.Cache greetings from Ellen Sch, Norway
EnglishWe are six Norwegians on a trip to Australia and New Zealand. We arrived in Melbourne at the beginning of February and are traveling home after the mega event in Adelaide. We travel by car and Geocaching helps us discover many nice places and often helps to decide where we choose the route between our goals which are: Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Dunedeen, and Adelaide. This is one of the caches we found on the trip and we thank you for showing us this place. We who are on tour have the nicknames: MrVonsr, ingsve, EllenSch and TeamEika. And signs the logs with N4.Great thanks for showing us and doing our tour wonderful NorwegianVi er seks nordmenn p tur i Australia og New Zealand. As a once in a lifetime holiday, this year we are traveling for 7 weeks to Vietnam, Bali, Australia and New Zealand. In Australia we meet Ellen Sch and MrVon sr and Ingsve to visit these last two countries, so here we cache together. We signed the log with N4. Now we have solved many caches so we have a large number of solved coordinates. But we are interested in all types of caches, so if you receive a log, it means that we have visited your cache. We haven't quite decided where we're going, but we'll probably let the weather decide for us. We want warmth because in Norway it is now freezing. We will stay for about 2 weeks in Australia and 2 weeks in New Zealand and we will end the trip with the Mega event in Adeleide on 29 February. So thank you very much to all of you who make it possible for us to travel around finding caches. On March 6, we set course for Norway again. There are extremely nice people everywhere and we are welcomed, we thank you very much. Thanks to our cache friends for good company on the trip.

# #7,155 #----------Parked the car close to GZ and got the required photo. Just as I was looking for the other answer, a truck turned up with some friendly fishermen in. They were surprised to see a British man all the way out in the middle of rural New Zealand. All good here. TFTC!!! ----------> All geocaches are signed as mmmPIZZA or mPZ
Quick stop here on a drive around the lake this morning, nice spot, thanks for the virtual cache and greetings from North Queensland

After years on our bucket list and three cancellations due to Covid, we are thrilled to finally be here. Following several cruises we flew from Sydney, Australia to Wellington, New Zealand to begin our next adventure. Picked up our rental vehicle and will be driving, exploring, hiking, and caching both islands for 3.5 weeks. This was a neat stop where we found a White-Faced Heron at GZ and a field of them (maybe 15+) near the highway. We gathered the needed info, snapped some pics, and enjoyed the view. Our answer has been sent via the message system and we appreciate the CO developing this geological lesson. Thanks for adding to our adventure today, Nukeworker and Racquetball Girl, Arkansas, USA
A lovely day was being had by people at the lake; swimming and fishing. I have messaged the answer. TFTC Dracophyllum.
Quick detour on the way past. Should of rought a rod. Tha KS for bringing me here
We really enjoyed our visit to this spot, thanks for placing your virtual cache here. We discovered this is a good spot for fishing - - I was going to say for catching fish but then I remembered we didn't actually see any fish, alive or dead.

We are in rotorua for several days and staying at a camp site a little south of this weir so we travelled up here to look at it and complete this virtual cache . there were two fishermen at GZ hoping for a catch for tea ' alot of water was passing through this weir so the flow was pretty fast. It was worth seeing this and thank you for bringing us to this spot . My photo was slightly to the side because of the two hopeful fishermen .
I will send the answers along with one of the photos . thank you

4Clubs and I went for a drive around the lake and stopped off here to take in the view. There was one guy fishing and he showed us the rainbow trout he had caught. Thanks for bringing us to this fascinating spot. TFTC
On an amazing trip for the Tarawera Ultramarathon, this was found during our (extended) stay in Rotorua. A neat spot, and the water was truly flowing! Thanks for the cache!
Traveling around the area with Carø collecting a few must do caches. This one was great to grab after so much rain, the channel was truly flowing. TFTC and bringing us to the area
Staying at the fabulous Ramada Resort, and wandered over to Mourea to tackle this challenge. Great work...loved playing detective. Thank you
We are staying at the hotel across the street. The Norman wanted to get this cache. And we watched the fishermen for awhile. TFTC

Busy place at dusk. The locals were all parked up watching three or four fishing in waders. The water flows through here at quite a clip.

Out and about reasonably early today - not as early as the fisherman at gz though. He'd already caught a couple of fish.
Unfortunately we couldn't see the island today, so had to estimate where it was

Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are now parked up at Ngongotaha … decided to head out for a drive around the Lake … stopped here specifically to pick up this cache … pleasant day with an angler out in the lake trying his luck … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #2,632 for us.
Day 4 of our family trip down this way and we decided to try out fly fishing. Started across the water as this is where we are staying but thought it would be better fishing from the other side so drove around with our gear - yay cache for me!
Found the required information whilst the others prepared their rods and waded in.
Thanks for the cache.

We have been in the Far North in amongst some really foul weather, as we neared this area we were having moments of dry weather in amongst showers of rain. So when we looked towards Rotorua and it looked like blue sky we were feeling pretty pleased.
We parked the campervan and made our way to gz just as a rain shower started. It was light at first but by the time we had taken the photo it was full on rain, which had us retreating to the campervan.
The words have been sent to the CO and a confirming email has been received.
We are in the North Island to try to complete the PWGT Tahi section so we are having to head to the far north. Along the way we will pick up a few other caches that take our interest such as those with lots of favourites or size large or letterbox caches or some that will just help us to fulfil some of the various challenges we are working on.
We are really enjoying the places we are visiting and the knowledge we are gaining through the tour, we just wish we had more time to explore these areas further. I guess once we retire that wish will come true.
With the new souvenir challenge we need to use the app to log the finds, but as I like to waffle on and write my stories on my laptop I am writing these while back at the campervan.
Thank you for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley

We came down to Rotorua today and did a circuit of the lake picking up a few caches here and there. Happy to pick up this easy virtual - interesting spot, TFTC
I'd always wondered how many Virtuals I could complete in a day and a recent Trade Me purchase that required collection from Auckland meant that today was the day. An awesome but long drive ahead looping Tauranga, Rotorua, Waitomo, Hamilton, Auckland, Waihi to home.
This was Virtual stop #2/21 - Weir is this View?
I was already pretty familiar with the area thanks to previous caches and it was nice to return for a wander. This was a good straight forward virtual - tasks completed and sent to CO.
Cheers Dracophyllum and congrats on the Virtual Rewards 2.0

It's my Mega weekend road trip! This is day six and I'm off to Whakatane via Rotorua and the GC45 tribute. Will expand on my logs, post photos, qualifying caches for challenges, etc. When I get home. TFTC
Really quite pleasant here. Never really thought about the outflow of the lake, but there's always got to be at least one.

Having been at the Auckland Mega last weekend we are now pottering home. Stayed the night in Rotorua and decided to go round the northern half of the lake which we rarely drive. Great little spot by the lake, thanks for bringing us here. TFTC
#10,636. During my recent visit to Rotorua to catch up with family I checked out this virtual cache. I have explored the Ohau Channel a lot when I was growing up in Rotorua. Things have changed a lot since then with weirs and barriers blocking the inflow of water into the wider reaches of Lake Rotoiti. Still its always good to be back here to admire the scenery. Have sent a message to the CO with the requested information and will upload the photo of Mokoia Island. Thanks Dracophyllum for setting up this virtual cache in my home city.
A nice quick find thanks. it is a bit overcast today but can make out the required poles!
Ms_KR and I are off on a wee tour of the North Island. Well the rain was raining till we were almost to Rotorua and then it stopped. We headed from Tauranga to Taupo today.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Answers with KR. Day 23 of our roadtrip from Chch. We have some unplanned days with no visit to Hamilton allowed so that means extra time here. There's always more to see around Rotorua and here's no exception: splendidly moody in the low cloud. Tftc

Found on a rainy Queens Birthday Weekend when we couldn't do plan A, thank goodness for geocaching. Always a good plan B. And just typical, beautiful sunny weather on the day we leave.
Weekend in Rotorua.
A litte road trip.
Day first focused around the lake to pick up interesting hides.

Called in for this Virtual chance before we headed off for a coffee just up the road. Gathered the details and sent message and will add pic shortly. Nice area but it was really howling a gale at the end of the lane, the other lakes we visited today were calm by comparison.
Day 2 of our visit and 20 caches were found. A real mixed bag with a Geotour one, the CANZ regional one (just AKL to go for the NI set), a couple of solved puzzles (incl a 5/5 Challenge), a letterbox, 4 Virtuals to get the Project-GC badge upgrade, an Earthcache and a lap of the lake (in the car) and plenty of great scenery.
We're off on a mini-break to the Bay of Plenty, specifically Rotorua and a visit that we had to cancel due to the last Auckland lock-down trapping us in the region. Away Friday morning and a weekend in 'Vegas' before heading back home on Monday. Nothing massive caching-wise, a few PWGTs, some Virtuals and a couple for solved puzzles was on the list and that was about it for finds really. As they say, quality over quantity (sometimes). The weather played ball and was generally good and it was good to be back in Sulphur-town after about 6 years since last visit. Thanks to all COs for their contributions.

Having decided to do a trip around the lake this was a must. With clear views the whole day and stops at many places it was very enjoyable. Children were swimming where the Ohau channel flows into the lake. Answer sent to CO. Thanks for the Virtual cache and another lake viewpoint.
My first day of 4 to collect all the PWGT series south of Auckland down to Lake Wairarapa. Today, I’m with FMZ in his 4WD and we’re have a helluva plan to get all of the caches in these 4 days.
Came here with FMZ at my request, I have done this cache about 6 months ago, a Maori lady with the longest fake eyelashes I have ever seen took an immediate liking to Boney Bruce and as soon as Chris had mentioned about Bruce’s Instagram acc, she looked it up… I guess she’s a fan now!

Day two of a five day North Island Pokai Whenua GeoTour expedition collecting all the geotour caches for PWGT Tahi and PWGT Rua. 3550km travelled over 5 days, 70 geotour caches found. Today we travelled from Auckland to Turangi via the Bay of Plenty. Our group today consisted of Gorby, boneybruce and myself.

Droped by the weir to check it out. Misty today with light drizzle. Starting to rain again by the time we are back in Zara. So thats it for caching today. Time to park Zara up and go shopping and visiting in Toby. Cheers .
Day 17 - Sunday 3 January 2021 - Opotiki - Kawarau - Rotorua today, heading soutwards again. Catching up with The Seagnoids Mum later today. With the heavy rains today the road to Taneatua was flooded so had to go via Whakatane to Kawarau.
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

Stopping in Rotorua to see family on my way home at the end of a rather long and tiring geotrip. Thanks to all those COs who made it possible!
Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs (60 caches), 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk a lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

Thanks Dracophyllum for the cache. It’s #1347 for us. We found your cache on 28 December 2020. Lovely spot - rather chilly wind today but still sunny!
Heading to Hamilton and decided to grab this virtual on the way as needed one for a challenge I am doing.
Was a windy day but no kite surfers out today. Thanks for bringing us to this area again.

North Island Campervan trip Day 7
After the fantastic holiday I had a few months ago traveling around the South Island, making the most of one of those incredibly cheap campervan deals available at the time, I figured it was worth taking a week off work before the stresses of the usual holiday period to enjoy some of the delights to be found around the top of the North Island.
This would be a great chance for me to seek out some targeted caches such as the TMGT ones as well as some that would help me with my Jasmer grid, missing minutes (for a couple of challenge caches I'm working on) and any other caches that caught my eye.
Last night I ended up spending the night at the DOC site near Okere Falls, which was nicely quiet and a great place to start my day from. I knew that tonight I would be in Kaiwaka visiting friends there, but today would be a lot of driving to get there so plenty of opportunity for caching.
But before I set off, it simply made sense to go and have a look for a few caches around this part of the BoP first as I rarely get to visit here. Once I was at GZ, there was a fisherman doing his thing at the weir, but he wasn't paying me any attention whilst I sorted out some photos and gathered the requisite information.
Thanks for setting this Virtual cache up.

Such an interesting place. I never knew it was here. I added this to my road trip because I need the 1/1 rating and I am so glad I did. Thanks for bringing me here. TFTC (I can't find my photos even though I took 3 or so I thought)
Spent a few days down in Rotorua with AliGle, visiting her family. Took a drive to Whakatane today and did this virtual cache on our way back in to Rotorua. Answer to question emailed to CO and photo of view attached to log. TFTC!
With Vistra down in Rotorua for a few days. Took a tiki tour to Whakatane today and did this virtual on the way back. Photo attached to log. Answer to question messaged separately. Thanks
On the road around Rotorua with Ethness. Phew, it was windy here. I could hardly open the car door! Ethness looked like she'd been plugged into an electrical socket! Thanks for the virtual!
