### MEGA EVENT TOUR ###We started our beautiful journey through the South Island in Christchurch. Here we went on a big sightseeing tour and visited lots of caches. We then travelled via Lake Tapeko, Dansey Pass and Moeraki to Dunedin for the MEGA event. In Dunedin we visited the MEGA events and together with many other cachers we found many caches around Dunedin. A few days later, we travelled on through the Catlins to the southernmost part of Bluff. We then visited Te Anau and the tourist town of Queenstown. In Wanaka we went on another sightseeing tour until we reached the west coast via the Haast Pass. We hiked to Fox Glacier and Franz Josef Glacier. We continued along the west coast up to Westport, stopping at various sights along the way. Richmond and Nelson, the sunniest cities, were also on our list.A few days later we reached the east coast again in the wine region of Picton and Blenheim. After a few days, we travelled back to Christchurch via Kaikoura. We visited many geological sites, completed many adventure cahes and found many caches along the way.We travelled almost 3500 km and had so many great experiences. Many thanks to all the ownersTeam sissifalke

Today, I visited this virtual cache with ZEALOG.
I have been having a bit of a break in Kaiapoi, and today was the day to relocate to Weedons.
Of course, the first thing to do was look up the closest non trad caches in the area, and this one sprung straight to the top of the list.
I totally enjoyed the wander around the waypoints gathering the required information. I have never been to the locations before on other trips to the quarry and gleaned a lot of information I would have not noticed or even knew about previously.
Thank you for the opportunity to log your cache and being part of my mini holiday.
Congratulations on receiving this virtual reward, and I think you have chosen an awesome location to release it. A favorite for the thought that went into this cache and bringing me here to enjoy it. Logged with permission

I started this one yesterday but as the rain got heavier decided to come back another day, which ended up being today! Two photos - one in a shelter near way point 1 on a rainy day, and one near waypoint 3 in the sunshine today. Enjoyed doing this cache, Thanks!
I found these virtual Cache today on a small hike at the Haswel Quarry it was easy to find.
Thank you for the Cache and greetings from Germany .

Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are currently parked up at the NZMCA Park at ‘The Willows’ in West Melton for the next day or so … today we decided to go for a drive to the Haswell Quarry to check out some nearby Ad Labs & to grab some nearby Traditional & Virtual Caches … the weather was not exactly ideal, hot (34*) & not a cloud in the sky … answers have been messaged to the Cache Owner & we are logging with permission … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... #12,351. I am on an 8 day holiday in the South Island, mainly staying around Christchurch and using my sisters farm house near Leeston as a base for geocaching. This morning I did some bird watching out at Lake Ellesmere. Now heading into Halswell to do the ad labs. While I was visiting I gathered the information for this virtual cache. Have sent the answers to the CO by email. Thanks Aslan* for placing your virtual cache here.
Answers sent, a hot day, glad I'm wandering here early in the morning, lovely spot.
Quick virtual on my hike around the Quarry. Aimed to clear the area but with blisters forming I had to leave a few traditionals for another time..
In Christchurch for a couple of days before heading to Hamilton on a wee road trip.
Today's geo adventure was an afternoon outing to Halswell Quarry.
Thoroughly enjoyed my walk around doing the Ad Lab + Bonus, Trad, Earthcache, Letterbox, Multi and finally the last waypoint for this Virtual.
It's very drizzly now and I'm looking like a drowned rat so glad to get the last bit of information I need and be on my way TFTC

This was a fun multistage virtual and nicely complements the AL and earthcache. A great place to score a number of different caches in a day!
Stayed in our campervan here overnight, and did this cache in the morning. Had a lovely walk around the quarry, and appreciate this cache making sure we checked out the quarrymen's quarters and the manager's house. Thanks for the Virtual.
Found the answers on a nice walk around the Quarry, checking on how the blossoms are going in preparation for this year's blossom photo shoot using Japanese Rope art (Kinbaku/Shibari) which is a fav hobby of mine- it will be our 5th annual one
Attached to my log is a photo from last spring of what we call the "Blossom Corridor"
My profile photo is also from Halswell Quarry from a previous spring down at the bridge and lantern in the Japanese garden.
This is a favourite place of mine and special to my partner and I.

Today was a beautiful day, but everyone wanted to do something different: biking, geocaching and building a robot... Once we agreed on building a robot later in the day, as the night and cold come early, we had to find a place where we could geocache and bike. And to complexify a bit, we wanted to finish the August spelling challenge, that is a cache that is not trad, not mystery and not multi starting with G, U, S or T... Lookign at the map, the Ghost looked lik a great candidate, and being a virtual, we were "sure" to find it. Also, it happens the crocodile track just reopened after being repaired from the heavy rains and slips. I dropped the boys at Kennedy bush and while there were making their way tot the park, I started gathering some information. I also walked up the quarry, we then walked around the swampy, which was really muddy. We visited WP2 and WP#, but WP1 was new to us, always great to learn new things along the way. Answers sent to CO. Thanks for placing this here!
KR was away biking so I decided to walk the quarry and might as well catch up on this virtual at last. I was trying to find ghostly pictures but it was too sunny. The best I could do was the one included as I always think that it looks like you're coming to the end of the world on this bit of the track! By chance we coordinated our trips to meet at the coffee cart so I'm spreading the good vibes of the cache and coffee with a favorite point. Thanks Aslan*.
One of a few caches I picked up at the Halswell Quarry Park this afternoon. My primary purpose in being there was to do the Adventure Lab cache(s). It was great to be able to enjoy the walk, great views, and collect a few other caches too, including this one. Collected the rerquired answers on the walk, and Stage 1 at the end. I took quite some time to find the relevant info for that one. My coords had me 12m or so away. Got there eventually! #4532. TFTC.
We were in the area with bullertrout and Noseynel, as we wandered around we gathered the required information for this virtual. The answers have been sent to the CO.
It was a stunningly beautiful day today with loads of people and dogs enjoying the environment. We spent a few hours here today and it was so nice to be in such a relaxed atmosphere.
Thank you for placing this virtual cache in such a spectacular place and thank you for the smiley

Thanks for the virtual cache. Lots of people about today. Did this one with gkmlb and a previous finder. Enjoying the caches
Went for a king walk in the park. Found about a dozen caches and completed the lab. Great way to spend a couple of hours. Thanks heaps.
Was a great daybout cache in the quarry. This was one of a few caches I got for the day. Thanks for the tours of this wonderful place.
Much needed day off, sun shining, so decided to check out the Quarry. Got the answers while doing the ad lab, bonus mystery, a multi, an earthcache and a couple of trads. Good afternoon out.
Completing a few caches in the quarry today with drawp. A great range of caches, and this took us to an area of the park we haven't walked through before. TFTC
Another variety to add to todays caching adventure in the Quarry Park this afternoon. A new area for us to explore today. TFTC
Came over here after dropping a friend to the airport. A couple of the locations took a bit of spotting (muggles didn't help), but enough info assembled to send through to the CO.
Will have to return to complete the AL. and properly explore the area, but I couldn't tarry, as I needed to head over to Akaroa to look for PWGT caches. TFTC - great use of your well-earned virtual. TFTC.

Some interesting information about, and locations to visit on our wander around the Quarry area. TFTC
Having just done the crater rim walk in a clockwise direction picking up information for the Lab Cache I wandered over to the start of this and found that I was soon following some of my earlier footprints. This quarry is a great place to visit and is quite popular even during a week day.
With Baird, on a trip round the quarry, cool place to visit and cache. Thanks for the Virtual too, great mini tour within the quarry. And the places you go, never been to one part before!
TFTC - Wonderful day out at the Quarry. I didn't know the homestead was here. Found several new spots while caching today. That is one of the things I love about caching
We had a bit of time to kill before our flight home so decided on a wander around this quarry area. It did get a bit drizzly towards the end and hunger got the better of us so we missed a few caches but we enjoyed picking up the necessary information for this virtual.
Thanks for setting it up for us

Found on a dog walk.
Back home in Latvia old quarries usually become lakes with really clear, sometimes green or blue-ish tint looking water. This is my first encounter with a quarry-turned-park.
Actually, I've been here before but that was before this VC was set up.
Hot and sunny day today, a bit too scorching even.
All the stages were easy to find and count up. Went on and looked for a couple more caches too.
Kia ora! Paldies!

I’m in Christchurch for another visit for 4 days. This is my last day. On my own this time, I have picked up many puzzles. I hired a nice little car, very economical and quite sporty too. It was very clean when I picked it up but with all the back roads it got very dirty! Thank you for this virtual.
I never knew there was quite so much history here. Answers have been sent.

Team BOP on another crazy mission again to the South Island. Lockdown gave us a lot of free time that we directed into Canterbury’s many Geo-Arts and with the Auckland 2020 Mega postponement, Christchurch was an easy decision. Team BOPs current incarnation is DavidsonClan, NZFlossy, McJandals and myself and we’ve signed all the logs as Team BOP to save time and log space.
So Labour Weekend 2020, it’s a numbers mission, the Cachly cut’n’paste template is sorted and while I unapologetically use this tool, I really appreciate you placing this cache for us to find. We're just having a wander round today with no particular plan - We managed to sort this one eventually although it pays to sort the singlemens quarters from the outside of the building haha. I really quite enjoyed the Haswell Quarry and there's a few different cache types available here too - a neat location. Cheers Aslan & TFTC

On a mission to the south after mega in Auckland was canceled. Team Bop booked airfares and here we are. Thanks all COs for your efforts. Due to numbers please excuse copy and paste logs in advance.

As Auckland Mega has been postponed we decided to do a trip south to Christchurch. Four of us from Team BOP joined up to share a car and accomodation. I always love these weekends as the company is great and makes our days and nights out caching lots of fun. We have done lots of puzzles in preparation and did some long windy roads to get them. Found lots of great caches and thanks to all the COs for the effort that goes into these Please excuse the copied logs and I will try to make some individual notes on as many as I can This sort of trip is where I find the cachly app very valuable. Lots of fun doing this virtual with Team BOP TFTC
With the Mega Covid cancelled this year a part of Team BoP decided to come south and try get all our solved puzzles, and some others along the way. So here we are!
Great to see the quarry being used for recreation. Thanks for the walk around, loved it and worthy of a Fp.
I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these cache. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers.

Day 3 of my 2020 NZE (New Zealand Experience).
This is when it starts to get serious. I picked up my campervan this morning and by midday I was out on the road to start 2 weeks of touring around the South Island.
During my time here I am aiming to find as many of the TMGT caches as I can (preferably all 41) and also as many Virtuals, Earthcaches and Letterbox Hybrids as possible, plus any Trads or others that will fill a hole in my D/T grid, my Jasmer grid, or else the last 3 remaining Hidden Dates on that grid.
I wanted to find this particular cache as I have a soft spot for Virtuals. Canterbury had turned on the weather for me today, but now it was getting late and I was racing against the sun to try to find the final few caches I wanted to get today. I arrived at the entrance with the sun already setting so I knew time was tight to be able to fulfil this one.
But in the end all the information was easily attained, and it was still just light enough for me to snap off a photo at WP3.

With rustynz on a caching adventure to Christchurch. Discovering now that the wrong dates where written in the logs
We arrived in the middle of a cross country day, so parking is a challenge. Loved collecting the information for the virtual, answers have been sent to the CO by rustynz. I hope they meet logging requirements.
Thanks Aslan* for the virtual hide

With rebel98 on a short trip away to Christchurch. All our dates written in the logs are wrong woops, luckily this online log is the correct date
We have come to visit the Quarry in the hope of finding the required information for this Virtual cache. It is busy, a cross-country event is on, so parking is a challenge. With answers gathered, they have been sent to the CO hopefully meeting logging requirements.
Thanks Aslan* for the hide, congratulations on being awarded a Virtual.
Its a perfect day to be caching, the sun is out, and lots of smiles on peoples faces (thankful it is level 1 for covid19, means we can get out and about)

Enjoying our walk around Halswell Quary Park collecting all the orienteering codes for the multi, reading all the sign boards and collecting the data for this Virtual. Thanks heaps for bringing us here. fav from me..
Its a long weekend in Christchurch, with The Seagnoid, Zara and Toby, and Star Gazing on the radar. Unfortunately clouds put paid to seeing stars but great event meeting up with the locals. Enjoyed visiting Halswell Quarry, Lincoln, Port Hills and running around after the Smurf family. Cool, fine days and NO rain made for an awesome weekend. Will be back again soon.

The dragon and I decided to do this and the multi here at the same time. The last time I tried two multis at once it was a major failing, having to start both again separately. This time it worked fine, although we did miss one of the multi's waypoints. Anyway, a multi like this is a great way to explore the park's facilities, so a definate favourite. Alas the cellphone was nearly flat so it was left in Zara charging so no photo.Except that there is a photo! Taken from around the back, a few caches later. Attached.
Came down on Thursday night with Taybeedragon for a three day geocaching trip and to collect a rare cache type - so rare that this will be the first ever for me - a 10-Year Celebration Event cache (now rejigged as Community Celebration Events). But that is later today, so we came over to the airport before dawn for a virtual and a few adventure labs, filled in a few blanks, then checked out Halswell Quarry before going to the event.

So today (29 Mar 22) Tregearp and I were planning another visit to the Quarry and Tregearp couldn't understand why I had an unfound Virtual icon on my map and she didn't on hers. After reading the cache page I recalled collecting the information, and reading back through previous logs found Tregearp's log from when we completed it in 2020.Apologies Aslan* for the late log - Tregearp submitted the required info for both of us in 2020.
SJT_NZ and I are enjoying a wee virtual road trip while checking on friends and family post lockdown, we lived in the area when in ChCh so it was nice to have a wander around today and see the development. Thanks Aslan for an interesting virtual
#18111. We'd nearly done this virtual a few times over recent months, but each time we were a bit short of time. Luckliy we hadn't got round to it, as it meant we could find it on a level 3 lock down day on a day when we wanted to find a cache. The car park is currently closed, and even though it was before 10 there were already lots of cars parked along the road. We were lucky to get a park near the entrance. We enjoyed the short walk needed to find the info (Troodles sent an email on behalf of us both). TFTC.
It was another beautiful autumn day, so we decided that a trip to Halswell Quarry to do this virtual would be a good way to get a bit of fresh air and "find" a cache without have to touch anything.
We were lucky to get a park near the entrance as this was a popular spot on a Sunday morning, so didn't have to far to walk. Soon gathered the information.
Thanks for the opportunity to get out and about, and indulge in our hobby in such a fabulous location. Logged with permission. Thanks Aslan.

A very interesting place to visit showing a couple of different types of volcanic rock.
No photo today as my camera's battery was flat.
Cheers for the cache.

Really nice way to learn more about the park. Thank you for this virtual and greetings from Scotland!
Find number five for the day.
I've been to this reserve a number of times over the years. Not every trip was for geocaching (but most were ).
A short wander around and I soon had the information required to complete this one (message sent with the answers). Like others, waypoint one slowed me down the most.
TFTC Aslan* , and congrats on being awarded one of these virtuals.

On my tour today this was a very nice spot to visit and have a look around. At Stage 1 it took me quite some time to find the correct sign, but at last I succeded.

A leisurely afternoon with daughter and granddaughter with the aim of finding some caches that have been popping up all over town! Great start here, not too busy, and we had a nice time exploring. Lots of fruit/nut trees around I have not noticed previously! TFTC!!
Pottering around Christchurch today after doing the TMGT caches in Greymouth yesterday. Had a nice walk in the quarry park today, in the heat, picking up the answers. Spotted another couple doing the same virtual cache, at stage 2 counting windows and doors... so that's what we look like... TFTC!!!

Really enjoyed the walk here today. I have been here before many times, the last was when my niece was running some cross-country. Great day and nice views, so will attach a few photos.
Congrats on the virtual Aslan and cheers for the history. FP from me.
A few caches today in-between other commitments, ie watching cricket and eating.
First up in the morning I took Jed the reluctant geo mutt to the Halswell quarry where there is a nice series of walks and a dog park.
There is also a virtual, an earthcache, a letterbox, an oldie for a hidden month calendar hole, and a few others.
Coincidence?
Nope.
So I reached my humble targets for the day, the dog got some exercise but still can’t sniff out a container to save itself, and my bro in law Hamish joined us later with his whippet which promptly ran rings around everything else there.
In the afternoon I casually made my way home with just a few targets. A few DNFs there too. But some important and fun ones found.
All good, another fun day in the Garden City. Thanks all COs.
Nope.

Last time here in Quarry park I got several other caches. This time I was solely for this Ghost cache.
Answers sent to the CO, and here's my Stage 4 selfie.

Yesterday I increased my diversity rating from 5 to 8 and in preparation I scoped out a couple of options for Virtual caches and Lettebox Hybrid caches beforehand. I ended up using a couple of caches in Cashmere for the diversity rating, but this morning I came here before the rain set in to get my back up contingency caches. The day I got my diversity rating up to five included a nearby Earthcache at the quarry so I was familiar with the area. The only difficulty I had was with Stage 1, which I did last. For some reason there was not sign where c:geo was indicating one should be. Looking around I spooted something likely over there, 17m away and that was exactly what I needed. I'm not going to blame bad coordinates, because this is the second time recently that this has happened. It maybe a good excuse to get a new mobile.
TFTC and congratulations on receiving a Virtual Reward Aslan*

With it being such a nice day I decided to bring the kids out here to do some exploring and so we stopped off for some ghost hunting....during the day Good to see a virtual being placed here for us to enjoy and so after a little while we scored the answers to the logging requirements and have now received the ok to log this find for today. Thanks Aslan* and congratulations on getting a virtual reward.
Time for another cache in the quarry. We really enjoy walking around and today was a nice and warm day to do so. Got all the information and also a new perspective for the photo. TFTC
I actually got the answers on Friday 12th July but just going through my photos today. I had a great wander around the park.
About the last one of the evening after a trip out to Akaroa, nice to finish up with one of these new virtuals. A wander around by torch light as we picked up the clues in this familiar place (how many caches over the years, a good dozen at least) and then a photo in the dark and home for a beer. Cheers
Last find of the day, a nice wander around the quarry, in the dark. Cheers
A lovely day for a little drive with Kiwi Moose.
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

Today is our fifth day traveling the south island and the 24th day of our travels south. We spent the night at the nearby freecamp and after a nice breakfast I went for a morning walk to collect two caches close by. After we walked the otepatotu track to the lookout and enjoying the great views. our way back to Christchurch we stopped at a letterbox-hybride before continueing to the Halswell Quarry Park to complete this virtual. After completing the earthcache and letterbox-hybride in the park while visiting the stages for this virtual. All stages were found easily and the information has been sent to Co. This was cache number six of seven found today. Tftc
For my personal daily challenge I needed to find two caches today to bring my total for the 8th July up to 11 found. A perusal of my unfounds revealed that today's mission could be easily accomplished by a visit to Halswell Quarry.
After finding the first cache it was time to walk around gathering the details required. A very pleasant walk. Message sent to the CO with the answers. Thanks for the placement.

Congratulations on being awarded this VR, Aslan* - a great place to put it.
A lovely sunny day; I hadn't intended to come out here & my footwear wasn't really up to caching. I limited the expedition to this cache and 1 other.
My photo is a view of the Quarry from higher up the hill, near GC532X1. The snow on the mountains is receding rapidly.

It was a beautiful day, I had low numbers on my calendar and I could do this one after work. I really enjoyed this virtual.
Thanks Aslan* for placing this geocaches 7120 find for me.Sadly there is no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. I plan on going to the OzGeomuster in July. To find out more visit this site: https://www.ozgeomuster.com.au
If you can't make Aussie. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland.
======== NZ Mega 2020 ========
Planning for the NZ Mega 2020 event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. Thanks for hiding this geocache.

Son and I enjoyed a walk around the quarry on this beautiful blue sky winter's day.
The answers to the questions were soon found and then we did a loop of the park. TFTC.

A pleasant morning to wander round the quarry park. Thanks Aslan* for the Virtual cache.
I had a great time wandering around the quarry this morning, lots of cool spaces in here. Thanks for bringing me out here for this great virtual cache!
Found at 8:19 am while on a week's break in Christchurch. Will expand log when we get back home (as well as answers to questions, qualifying caches, photos, etc.).
With three new virtuals published just before we came down, I had to have them all! After picking up some caches closer to town, the quarry was my main target for the day. Parked just inside the gate and walked up to the first WP, then drove in for the second and parked up to walk up to the third. Answers sent, then it was further walking to get some other caches and to take some photos. The fog was still hanging around so quite ghostly indeed. TFTC

It's a tad damper out here than in town but there are heaps of people about. Have emailed answers. Arriving back at my car the mist has started to clear and the sun is peeking through. A nice walk. Thanks for placing your virtual here, Aslan*.

Out for a cache today, and miserable/ wet is was too! However, all information around this great park was obtained, enjoyed the peaceful walk and got some photos too. TFTvirtual Aslan* It's going to be a popular one I'm sure.
A very wet afternoon and great to not have to lurk in wet bushes!!! Have been here quite often and so pretty well where to go without the co-ords. However we did use them and they are accurate. So much of ChCh has it's beginnings in here, so always interesting and informative. Thanks Gr.
Saw this virtual published and diverted my lunchtime walk to wander around the quarry and get the required information. It is such an awesome spot here and a great place for a virtual. Thanks for bringing me back.
Congratulations on receiving one of this years Virtuals. A lovely spot full of history. One of our familys favorite spots for a wander. No matter how quiet other port hill tracks are this area is always busy - great to see...and nice to see the quarters finally restored.
Thanks for creating this virtual wander.

Closest cache to home, must be found whatever the hour! {FTF} 11:49pm. Lots of ghosts on the dark. Trees creaking, doors swinging and boy racers smoking drugs at the gate. All in a days work on a Monday night eh?
Quickly found Part 1, then scooted over to Part 2. Tried from inside (it was still open this late at night? You could sleep here!). Got a bit confusing in the dark so went outside and got the required detail. Then off to Part 3- quick spotting as well familiar with this wonderful park.
Thanks for the cache and congrats for being selected Aslan, nice to have a new Virtual in the hood, so to speak. Fav point from us
