Gorgeous, found on a trip from Hervey Bat to Brissy with HelenJoG to see the musical Wicked.
Always remember Bonsai being part of the original Karate Kid movies. Found 1 that was established in the year I was born so chose it as my fav. Nice spot for a cache.
I am down under for the very first time. Visiting Australia has always been a dream of mine, and I cannot believe it has come true. Australia's nature and wildlife really captivated me. Over three weeks, I saw many wonderful beaches, sunsets, animals such as , and I found great geocaches. My tour guide was mostly geocaching, and through it, I discovered many beautiful places I wouldnt have seen without our great hobby. I mainly stayed in Brisbane but also visited other gorgeous places such as Noosa Heads and Springbrook. I spent a few days on the Gold Coast and Moreton Island, and I went to New South Wales to have visited a second state in Australia. During my stay, the winter and early spring in Queensland were very warm, the sun shone every single day, and I did not see a single drop of rain. My time down under was so beautiful and unforgettable. Australia is such a stunning country! Today I spent another day in Brisbane. I really like this city and I discovered beautiful places. I visited the Mount Coot-Tha Summit Lookout and enjoyed the wonderful view even though it was a bit cloudy. I walked down to the beautiful botanic garden. In the afternoon I went back to the city centre. I also looked for many geocaches like this one. What a cool spot for a . I answered the questions and took the compulsory photo. Thank you for this geocache says Mr. J. Cacher from the other side of the world
Lovely day at the Bontannical Gardens, thanks for the virtual cache encouraging us to get in and have a look around the Bonsai Garden, absolutely gorgeous!
I'm in Brisbane for a couple of weeks to spend some time with my 93 year old mother while she's still around, and naturally enough, I'm doing some caching as well. Today, I'm doing the tourist thing and using the geocaching guidebook to show me Brisbane's tourist hotspots as well as some lesser known highlights. This is probably a bit of both ... there's a heap of people in the Gardens, but I was all alone in the Bonsai House. Loved the bonsai display, so thanks for bringing me here georode.
Walk through the ecological sanctuary of the Botanical Gardens at Mount Coot-tha.Today we spent a wonderful day at the Botanic Gardens. We spent the leisurely day strolling through the gardens, past lawns, lakes and amongst trees. We took enough time to find solace in the Japanese Garden, explore the Tropical Display Dome and immerse ourselves in the horticultural marvels of foreign or exotic plants. We found further attractions in the Bamboo Grove, the Cactus House and the Dry Garden as well as the lagoon covered with water lilies. We particularly liked the Bonsai House, the Succulent Park and the Tropical Dome. Thank you for the VirtualTeam sissifalke
Schne Idee, sehr schn gemacht! Vielen Dank frs Legen und Pflegen!
#5617The Mathsnuts are visiting from the UK and today we had a lunch invitation. To work up some space for what turned out to be a very generous lunch, we headed first to the botanical gardens for a stroll. I encouraged everyone to detour via the Bonsai House so that I could find this cache, and was delighted to be able to explain to the geokids about bonsais. There were lots of fabulous trees to choose from, although if I had through of it in advance, I could have taken a picture of my Lego bonsai tree at home TFTC
After a day at home on Sunday, thinking it was going to be a wet one and it was a public holiday in my local area today, I decided to go out caching regardless of the weather.I decided to hit the Mt Coot-Tha Bontanic Gardens first. Arrived at this virtual cache just as the rain hit.I found your cache, Bonsai House today. This is my 3248 find.Beautiful place to visit and wait out the rain.georode, TFTC, TFTH & TFTSF
georode I found your cache Bonsai House on 7/8/2024, 12:30PM. This is my find 6908 and find # 5 today. A magical place. A great display. Photo attached. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN
2688 - I was in the area to do some research for an Adventure Lab series that I am about to release. When I had completed that, I raced back to try to see the 3pm show of Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon Planetarium Experience, but unfortunately it was fully booked out a few minutes before it was due to start. My alternate plan then of course was to take a walk around the Botanical Gardens to grab a few Adventure Labs, this one and an Earth cache. had a quick look around the exhibits and decided the one in the photo attached was my favourite. It is called a Juniperus squamata Acer palmatum Rhododendron sp. I liked the woody trunk of its main structure, and the very cute miniature elk horns living on it as well. Found at 4pm, with no signs they were about to lock the Japanese Gardens up for the night just yet. Thanks for the cache georode, picture includes my tablet that I have been using to do the Adventure Labs here today.
Did your virtual whilst walking around the gardens with The X-Trailers.Loved all the Bonsai and couldn't decide so have put 2 photos on logA fav point today.TFTV
Visiting South East Queensland for a week from Port Macquarie. Today we primarily cached around the suburbs of Brisbane, with a real mixture of hides found. We then capped it off with a late afternoon river ferry ride to South Bank, before returning to our accommodation in time to write up logs and watch Origin Game II.Very nice and large collection of bonsais, it was hard to pick a favourite so chose the one with the nicest looking flowers. Thanks for the cache
Just realised I should have been in the picture!I will head back again on the weekend and get a selfie
29 April 2024 1:56 pmI had some free time and was somewhat close to the area, trying to motivate myself to be more fit and active.I've been here plenty of times and love bonsai plants. I'd love to be able to grow them myself but don't have the patience to do so - although I feel that is the whole learning behind it Anyway, there was a new one I quite liked today, I haven't seen a paperback in miniature before!Tftc
This was amazing to see and comprehend that some of those trees are more than 70 years old! Thanks for the cache and I include a photo of my favourite bonsai with my trusty hat.
With a bit of time to spare this afternoon I came to the Gardens. Beautiful place to explore.Cheers
After an early morning start with alphag_25 leaving the Gold Coast and unfortunately heading home after a 3 1/2 week holiday. Ahh have to earn the money to take these holidays. Finding some of the older caches to fill in some spaces. Some amazing specimens here including quite a few older than I! TFTC
Heading from the Gold Coast back towards Brisbane Direction and grabbing some of the old geocaches along the way. On our way back to Mackay and seeing what other spaces we can fill on the DT grid. Tftc slOn a caching holiday from Mackay. In the search of old caches and ones to fill DT grid spaces. Found TFTC SL Thanks for placing this cache for our enjoymentThis one is my fav
Over in Queensland for a parkrun Event and we are taking the opportunity to do some exploring and grab a couple of caches.Spending the day at Mt Coot-tha. We arrived at the botanic gardens just in time for the guided tour and they took us through here and we had plenty of time to get the photo required
Thanks Georode for this virtual cache. Bonsai never cease to amaze me! I had two favourites. I love the shape of the ginko leaves but also love the colours of the leaves on the maple!
Out and about with Ian from Ian and Penny this morning to collect a few more smiley faces around Maryborough.
TFTC! A day well-spent finding geocaches in order to get the Leap Day 2024 Souvenir. Thanks for bringing me to this lovely Bonsai House!
A very brief trip to Brisbane before heading home to Adelaide on Wednesday for the mega. It sure is warm and humid here. I used to live part time in Toowong fifteen years ago, and never got to visit here. Better late than never. All the water dragons and bush turkeys sure take me back, and for me, a Moreton Bay Fig seemed the right choice for my photo to claim a find. Thanks for bringing me here with this Virtual georode.
On our way back from the summit of Mt. Coot-tha WE also had to Go through the botanical garden and could find this Virtual Cache.TFTC geovi
Unfortunately, we did not have enough time, to enjoy the little trees as long as they'd have deserved. What a nice collection on display here! But having come here on the bus required us to be back at the bus stop in time or wait plenty. So we only went for a quick look and picked our favorite tree by intuition rather than by sophisticated judgement. And then we made a dash for the bus.Thank you for highlighting the bonsai house. We'd have missed it otherwise!TFTC!
Looking for a cache starting with B that wasnt a traditional to do the Can You Spell F-E-B-R-U-A-R-Y in February challenge cache. So this was perfect. Thanks georode!
I remember watching Karate Kid many times growing up and one of the amazing things was the Bonsai Tree. I was looking for an old tree but couldnt find any. still this was pretty amazing.
Davinells had a plan, to reach a milestone by the end of the year. But that meant some serious caching, so Ive come to Brisbane where I can cache until I cant walk anymore. My next port of call is the botanical gardens with its plenty of ad labs on offer. I have wanted to do this virtual for a while so was happy to finally get a chance. A really cool spot and some awesome looking trees, but I cant go past a fig tree. Thanks for highlighting georodeFind #4964
Mr CNQ has been staying with elderly relatives on Bribie and headed in to the gardens for lunch and a damp Sunday stroll around some of the sections. Attached 2 photos one was a Schotia that we had a very large specimen of in our previous house, the other a leaning melaleuca which is conceptually similar to our river hides near Charters Towers on the upper Burdekin R. In the interests of disclosure, Mr CNQ has a background in botany and decades ago worked in forestry research growing straight tall trees. Through that lense bonsai could be seen as a little cruel and unusual for trees, there are some great free growing figs out in the gardens! The house/torture chamber was interesting though so thanks for the virtual cache georode.

While doing the Adventure Lab here, I came in here to take a photo of the bonsai which is my year. Its going well. Thanks for bringing me here Georode. All good with this virtual. Photo to come. A favourite from me.
My geodog Scruffy wanted to look for some caches, so I thought "why not?"
So we decided to head to Brisi and do a few Labs & other types as well.
Ended up at the Botanical Gardens and noticed this little gem on the map.
Some of those bonsais are fantastic. I never knew that grow some so big, but well worth the 'time out' and have a look at some.
All Good .. TFTC ..

I am so glad I have finally been able to visit these beautiful gardens. There are some stunning bonsais in here, I had a lot of favourites! I eventually chose this one as it has been growing for more than 60 years and still looks incredibly healthy.
Thanks georode for bringing me here. Giving an FP.

Team MMEandK spent a lovely warm winter's afternoon in the gardens and enjoying the views from Mt Cootha.
The Japanese Garden is our favourite but Bonsai's are cool too... crazy, but cool.

Last day of our Australia holiday, where we took a trip to Mount Coot-tha and explored as much of the city as we could before the flight home. Managed a few caches as well, mainly virtuals due to the popular touristy locations we passed.
Found plenty of nice bonsai trees here but took a photo of this one at the end.

Thank you Georode for using your gifted Virtual geocache at the Bonsai House at Brisbane’s Botanical Gardens. It was a delight to come here and admire the bonsai trees and their intricate miniature detail. . We have long had an interest in bonsai but haven’t ever actually made our own. After spending some time looking and admiring we took a couple of photos to add to our log and featuring Aussie Bob.
Cheers and happy caching!

Apologies for the late log here (12.01.24) but I've had a busy time since getting back to the UK.A beautiful area for a look around on a sunny day, complete with wildlife, gardeners with secret information about where all the water comes from (I won't spoil it for you!) and this charming cache at a lovely spot. I'd have come here anyway - I like Bonsai - but the cache made it all the better; thank you! Photo attached TNLN-Virtual. TFTVC!SP (UK) on an epic trek right around the world.
I loved the exposed root system on this Port Jackson Fig. A close second was the juniper growing out of the rock (but as any Geocacher from Colorado knows, junipers are not your friend!).
Back in Australia visiting our daughter who is studying at NSW, catching up with friends we have made over the years and of course, going to soccer games as we timed our visit to coincide with the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining caches for us to find while we are here.

What a great idea for a virtual. I love bonsaïs so enjoyed walking around admiring them. I chose a very old camelia, almost 60 years old!

A friend was having a surprise milestone birthday party and a trip to Brisbane was required to attend.
After accidentally (on purpose), booking my flights a few days earlier, it was time to do some pre party caching around town.
After a late night last night, today was a little more laid back exploring some targeted caches around Brisbane and beyond.
A cool location to explore. I found one established the same year as me!
Thanks georode for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.

This was a fun find during a stroll through the gardens. The only challenge was choosing which one to photograph!
#8786 Today iPlod65 and I headed to the Mt Coot-tha botanical gardens for a gentle stroll. We loved it here on this fine winter day. Stopped by the bonsai house while doing an AL.
Thanks georode for the virtual.
Thanks georode for the virtual.
Visiting from Canada. I lived in Queensland 1974-94, and visited the Botanical Gadens once in 1993. It was great to revisit this lovely spot today.
I loved all the bonsais, but the one that grabbed my attention was the Moreton Bay Fig with the rock, because it had been established in 1958.
One can only imagine all the hard work and TLC involved in establishing & maintaining these bonsais.
Fav point for sure!
Thanks for bringing me here today, georode, and Happy Caching!

After having a fun breakfast on the top of the Mount Coot-Tha, we headed down the hill to the Botanical Gardens. Had a fun and informative tour and learned a lot in the process. Greetings from the USA. And TFTC.
On a holiday trip to Bundaberg we stopped at various places to stretch our legs, meet new people, grab solved puzzles, complete Adventure Labs, Wherigos, multis, answering questions for Earthcaches & Virtuals. This is one of them.

I haven’t been here since the upgrade and it looks great. Lots of people visiting here today. My caching items are the split bag I replaced at a cache earlier today and my trusty pen!
TFTV. Geo item is the battery charger that is always connected. Now I have reason to attach a tag to my bag.
Really enjoyed walking around the gardens with our geobaby! The Japanese Garden and Bonsai House were particular favourites. TFTC #198
Took a wander around the Botanic gardens. Found some fantastic statues hidden around the place including a bee outside the Bonsai house. Some pretty bonsais in here too. I prefer the ones with flowers. TFTC.
Cache number 2580, found whilst travelling the East Coast in search of adventures. Amazing collection of Bonsai Trees within. Pictures of BroccoliBoy and BroccoliGirl with their favourites. TFTC
We all enjoyed our walk through the gardens and visiting the bonsai house.

Out with Probsty and Sandyofthesea. A nice afternoon walk exploring the gardens.
Sandyofthesea and I took off from Perth, Western Australia at the start of April to travel more of Australia using geocaching as a guide to see the sights.

Hi georode, found “Bonsai House” today, really cool looking at the bonsai, had no idea they were so good! TFTC from Probsty
Unfortunately the Bonsai House is closed for an upgrade. So took a photo in front.
We found Bonsai House while out and about on a glorious spring day.
After a lovely walk we headed for the Bonsai house only to find that it was closed for renovation. Spying a lovely pink example inside the locked door, I declared that to be my favourite and moved myself into position to take the required photo
Thanks georode for hiding this cache so that we could come and enjoy ourselves

What is a trip to the gardens without a visit to the bonsais! TFTV! Promised the teenagers this wasn’t a caching trip - what they don’t know won’t hurt them, right?
Unfortunately, the Bonsai House was closed but we could get some glimpses through the bars.
Still under construction, due to open in September so will have to come back and see it again soon.
We'll see if this log is removed. No bonsai for me, the area is under construction! But I made my attempt, from two directions just in case. If I'm back in Brisbane, hope I can resurrect this one for real... sign at the visitor center says it'll reopen in September.
TFTC, from Tennessee, USA
edit: Looks like all the recent cachers also ran into the same construction sign, so I feel better with my log!
