Visiting the area, went to GZ and other places to gain answers. On this nice sunny day

Thank you for this Virtual Cache. So glad that our history is being retained for sharing with others. We think that this trestle bridge is amazing. What a wonderful structure that is being kept as an icon of the past.

Thanks for the Cache DeJaVu, We camped at the Poplars, but before heading home, I had to get a Cache in the area. The one at the station is still eluding me so I went virtual.I chose Toorongo Falls as my Adventure. Parked the Van at the carpark and my wife stayed there as I scooted about doing sacred Man's Geobuisness. I thought I could pick up some other prizes on my way but the GeoGods would not grant me reception. But I can never get enough of roaring waterfalls, they get to you through all your senses. I remember reading an info board in Warratah Tasmania, that a mining engineer, on hearing the power of the waterfall, decided to harness it for crushing the ore and creating electricity. Stand by a waterfall and you can understand his reasoning. The tourist trade was roaring too.Regards from Victourer

We initially groaned when this Virtual had a number of waypoints, but that soon proved to be not correct as all the information was able to be found in the one area that was worth exploring.Answers sent.We had the chance to head out into our local area to do some caching and revisit some areas we have not been to for some time. Some lovely areas visited and found a few things we had not seen before.Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache de ja vu.**SKI Pair****Greetings from traveling Australians.

TFTC love this bridge! Been here several times before and have shown several people. The train had smoke (not steam) coming out of its stack - they light a little fire I. It for the tourists

We spent the weekend camping nearby and despite the rain on Friday and into Saturday, it cleared and was superb on Sunday. We packed up and headed back through Noojee and collected the clues and happened to be already heading to one of the places to visit (and had already visited another one on Saturday). Blue car is mine.

Stopped here to get my virtual cout to 50 for a challenege cache currently 42. And learn some more about some local history. Did the walkabout getting answers.
Left with Mogni the day before Christmas to go down to Mount Gambier for Christmas Day. Then on the 27th left for Victoria. Plan A was to go to the Ottway Rangers, complete the Geo tour in Ballarat and then head to Geelong and take the Queenscliff ferry over to Sorrento then grabbing new LGA's on route to almost the New South Wales/Victoria border and the old 2001 cache near there. Also attending a community day event, a CITO and a couple of other events as well. Then head in to the high country and come back to SA in 11 days. Things didn't go to plan. Turns out that one of my almost new tyres was defective ( side wall blown out ) and blew in the ottway ranges on a narrow road in the rainforest, Drove to Melton to stay overnight and get a new tyre there, tyre machine broken and the other 5 tyre companies not open so off to geelong for a new tyre ( and some caches on the way and in geelong ) . The event we where going to attend in geelong didn't turn out, he was late by ALOT to his own event. Then to ballarat to same day since we had a b&b booked for the next few nights. Planned on getting the ferry at 1200 and ended up on the 400 pm ferry but we did attend a event and CITO in geelong. Then we drive into the rear end of a thunder storm with forecast 20 mm dropping for the next few days. Cancel the high country and change targets to letterbox D/T for fizzy grid only using letterboxes and same wirh the multi fizzy grid plus fizzy grid only using victorian caches plus any challenge caches we where near. Plus getting a few more victorian 2001 caches. And finally any caches that had 40 more more favourite points. Only got soaked to the bone for a couple of days but the water on the tracks was noticeable. On the return home tried to get the rest of the missing LGA's around the Melbourne CBD i missed in the last mega. Still a fun trip was had if not the planned one.

Out on a Christmas break with sir_spectre, exploring southern Victoria grabbing lots of smilies, finding caches in LGA's and of course signing a few more challenges.
Sir_spectre has sent in the required answers for this cache. My family are big train modern and historical buffs, so took a photo to show them this great spot to stop and stretch the legs.
Thanks for placing this cache for us to find.

I had no phone service at Noojee but thankfully I had taken a screenshot of the description and was able to answer the questions. I've recently watched a youtube doco of Beau Miles running the old train line from Warragul to Noojee (well worth a watch, insightful, historical, inspiring and funny) so it was great to be here today. A bit of searching and I had the answers written down for logging tonight. A strange thing occurred while I was standing on the platform, there was smoke coming out of the train engine smoke stack. I was so curious I had to climb up and have a look. The metal was certainly hot but I couldn't be certain that was from the "fire" or the sun. The way the smoke stack was designed I couldn't see if there was a fire in there or not.
Anyway answers sent off to CO and photo included here. Nice historic area TFTC

A quick snap on the rails after finding the answers, now to stroll off to the trestle bridge

TFTC and greetings from Tassie

Finished up my afternoon of caching exploring this virtual. I initially took far to long searching for a nearby cache once that was located I had a walk around and went into the information centre that was open until 4pm. I had a bit of a look inside - some very interesting stuff especially for the history or train buffs- I was tempted to try on a few station master hats and take a selfie or two but I decided to behave myself besides the stuff was very vintage..I walked back out to start this virtual..In true Tiz13 fashion I got a bit confused over question two so I seeked out the assistance of the lovely lady caretaker of the information place. I could have spoken to her for hours but I was conscious of the time and the fact that their was more to be done to complete this virtual. Off I went one day I will return to complete the other options but today I settled on the 2km walk to the bridge - enjoyed this walk immensely. TFTA (thanks for the adventure)

27-Aug-22
We visited Noojee on a sunny Saturday afternoon. I have always been fascinated by all these old, rusty and enormous railway remnants. Noojee certainly has got a lot of these.

The nearby trestle bridge is truly amazing. It is hard to imagine how a steam train full of logs and weighed hundreds of tons could safely pass such a tall bridge only supported by wooden trestles.

02-Aug-22
We had a lovely afternoon in Noojee. I love reading up on history and found the information here interesting. We ate at the local Cafe Little Red Duck, and explored the Trestle Bridge, camp grounds, around town and here at Toorongo Falls. Had the town pretty much to ourselves including this national park. Needed the time out in nature, we came here for geohusbands birthday, and we had a great time. Answers sent to CO.

02-Aug-22
Tried to upload a photo to previous log but it didn't come through...hopefully this works. Had a great time today exploring Noojee and the Toorongo Falls with my husband.

Find #5 of the day.

We are currently in Neerim South on our first trip away from home for the last two and a bit years. Today was a day to wander around Noojee and find some caches along the way. Thank you for bringing us to this location. Wandering around the center and the nearby rooms/train was really enjoyable and learning about the local history as well.

From here, we went to one of the four locations and the photo shows MrsHyde and MrHyde Jnr in front with Junior trying his best to look disinterested.

Note to future finders. No internet reception in Noojee so had no idea what to answer!

09-Mar-22
We, ICW and Ninja Tortoise, rode our bikes to Noojee to have a bite to eat. After which we proceeded to do the cache. Great bit of history. TFTC. Photo is sort of us well sort of, at the waterwheel, my lid is on the right and Ninja Tortoise's lid on the left.

09-Mar-22
I had no idea so much history was preserved at Noojee. I enjoyed the walk around with icw and plan to visit some of the other places of interest there. Thank you for bringing us to such a great spot.

11-Jul-21
I tried to find the actual cache nearby and failed! But a virtual is always much easier to reach the end. I enjoy a Parma at the pub just nearby.

22-Mar-21
Found at 10:11 am.
A long term multi location project brought us to Mt Baw Baw today. We had been meaning to do it for a while so chose this weekend. It was lovely on arrival, 11 degrees, thick fog, light rain and very strong winds that instantly inverted the umbrella so that didn't get a lot of use. Oh well, at least it wasn't snowing. The drive up here was ok with the awesome road holding and handling of the ute, however I had to pull over a couple of times to let the Porsche, Lamborghini and BMW M3 car club groups fly past.
I had only been up here once on a freezing cold day to do the LGA challenge and grab one cache and go so it was nice to walk up to the summit and check out all the ski runs.

We were heading back towards home now and stopped here to do the virtual cache , gathered our clues and headed off to our chosen awesome location. A favourite from me.

Thanks de ja vu for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

21-Mar-21
Nearly 2 years back, I started on a cache that would take me to many places and this was to be the final area. I had been dropping hints fortnightly to Spiffy- that we could come up here, but either the weather or another plan, plus the tough drive, kept putting it off. Today though, even with some rain about it was still warm and before another snow season set in we decided to go.

Loved the old station and train. Choose a favourite location for me.

Thanks to de ja vu for the placement and fun.

Find #4612
Virtual Find #24**

**Logged with Permission**

I headed out with Steve for a caching run to try and find some caches that have eluded us and me in particular. This was something of a bonus for me as we passed through Noojee. A very interesting topic.

**Thank-you to de ja vu for placing this geocache**

Whist visiting the area for cache maintenance, aerial photography and just to enjoy the area this Virtual was on the “must do” list.
It turned out to be a beautiful day and a great spot with picnic tables to have a late lunch.
I spent a fair amount of time exploring the location, taking photos and searching for the answers.
I sent the answers to the CO and with a good score I am happily logging this find and adding a favorite point for history, great location, good for photos and a well informed cache page.
My thanks to De Ja Vu for the cache.

we've slowly been acquiring the equipment for camping
we went camping in january with a borrowed tent and sleeping mats
and then bought some sleeping mats
... one lockdown later ...
we went camping in july with a borrowed tent
and then bought a tent
keen to try it out we were sent into lockdown two days later
... one lockdown later ...
with restrictions easing we were eager to hit the road and test out the canvas
found three free days and hiked into ada no. 2 yesterday
back to the car today and had a few attractions to tick off: town, bridge, falls
the town was the first stop with the main draw being this shiny new virtual
admired some history
and fumbled through some questions
thanks for the treasure de ja vu

Finally made it out here to do the virtual, brought Mum along for the drive, stopped and had lunch at the little red duck cafe. We had been to the trestle bridge on the way here, two other options may have been a bit far to walk for Mum, so we checked out the water wheel, not been and seen it before. Thanks for the cache.

Great cache. We really enjoyed reading all the information. Was good to get out for some exercise.

I am catching up with my logging. I was up this way in January for an event. I gathered some of the information but once home realised it wasn't all the information. After the nearby event Bunadoorian and I went up to Mt Baw Baw to get a cache in a different LGA. On the way home we stopped at one of the places we needed to take a photo. We realised we didn't have a vital answer so one Saturday night in February while our house was full of Nerds - Bunadoorian and I went back to this spot and was pleasantly surprised to see how the engine was lit up. We gathered the information we required. Now in March I am finally logging this wonderful cache. Thank you very much de ja vu for bringing us to this lovely area and for all the historical information.

A very interesting part of the history of Noojee was shown to Grub62 and myself when we visited this virtual cache. A grateful Thank you goes out to De ja vu for bringing us to this display. TFTC.

Out for a drive with my partner for the day to visit Toorongo Falls. Quick stopped at Noojee to look around the lovely town and train museum. Very interesting history and locomotive train is reminding me of my grandfather was working on locomotive train on his old times. Sent CO some answers and thanks de ja vu for placing the virtual cache

We’ve visited Noojee quite a few times over the past several years as we love the mountains, tall trees, trestle bridge, clear rivers and waterfalls. One of the most memorable trips was with a pair of Dutch students who, coming from such a flat country were amazed with all I mentioned above. The Toorongo Falls were taller than anywhere in their country! Having been here so often before we chose to visit the one location we hadn’t visited before: the walk along the Loch River. Yet another beautiful location to stroll along the river. Old train and tramways make great walking tracks. We took our photos at the suspension bridge before heading along the track. Luckily it’s summer and long days mean you can walk till very late in the day and into the early evening.

What an interesting concept for a Virtual Cache - a Choose Your Own Adventure. I used to love those books as a kid.

I got to the suggested parking location and had the place to myself. I then got so wrapped up in reading all the boards, it was about 15 minutes later when another car arrived tgat I remembered about the traditional geocache here. Guess I will have to get that another time.

The signs talking about the history in these parts was just amazing. Then the train and to top it all off, the amazing wood work sculptures. Someone of great talent must have done them.

Then I was off on my own Adventures. I got to my selected adventure and just admired that for 10 minutes and went for a stroll taking photos. Then I spent 2 minutes looking for the traditional geocache here, before the same guy parked. Another time for that one too. Then I went for a walk before back to the car and my next adventure.

Thanks for a favourite cache de ja vu
Hunter

Wow amazing and lot of information here, definitely will come back with more time reading all the information here so I can learn something more about history here. Thanks de ja vu for placing the virtual here. A fav from me.

After completing the nearby trad I was off and going on this one, was a rather interesting park I thought to myself and with a little bit of time and several familiar faces later I had all the info I needed and the instructions for the next step of the virtual..... and with the photos taken I was done. Thanks for this virtual cache, I am rather keen on these and cannot wait to go out and do some more soon.

26-Jan-20
After attending ahomburg’s 10 years of caching, we thought we’d stop here and pick up the trad, not realising there was also a virtual here. Luckily so many other cachers had the same idea, so we enjoyed learning about this area while gathering the information. Had a chat with one of the lovely and very knowledgeable volunteers who explained to us one of the pieces of machinery we were gathered around. One of the questions nearly stumped us, so it was lucky the CO’s were in attendance willing to lend a helping hand.

Love the trestle bridge, so this was our next stop for the photo.

Thanks for a great virtual with such interesting history de ja vu. Lovely to meet you both.

Today I got an early start and headed off to Toorongo Falls for a 10 year cacher event but as I had some time, I had a look for other caches along the way.
This one was certainly on the to do list for today, I met up with buhfuhguh and we went in search of the answers to the questions together, after a lot of reading about the area we headed off on our adventure, as I hadn't seen the waterwheel before I decided to have a look at this one.

**Thanks to de ja vu for placing this cache.**

I traveled all the way up to Noojee and the falls to help ahomburg celebrate his ten years as a cacher.
On the way up I drove past here and made sure i called in on the way back through.
They have done a great job in restoring this area with the station, train, log truck and the saw mill equipment.
Plenty of info boards to read and find out about the local area.
Didn't realise at first that it was the CO's sitting near by enjoying their lunch.
As i was here, a few more cachers who had the same idea as me turned up to do the same.
As i missed the opputunity at the falls for a photo, i headed off to the trestle bridge instead which i still forgot to take a photo of.
Did a couple more caches then headed back to the bridge for my happy snap.
As i was taking my photo i heard a you who from above and it was the CO's again who had walked in from the picnic spot.
Thanks for bringing me back here and highlighting some of the fantastic spots to visit in the area.
A fav goes out to you for the experience.

Thanks de ja vu TFTVC.

We had thought of doing this cache a week or so ago when we were in the area doing the Lab caches but the weather turned quite nasty and we decided to leave it for another day and we are glad that we did.
After leaving ahomburg's Ten Year Event we arrived here to find quite a few other teams including the cache owners sitting back listening to all the conversations as people looked for the answers so it was great to have a catch up again.
We have been to this park before but it has certainly changed since our last visit with a lot more informative boards and we can honestly say that this is the first of this type of machinery that we have ever seen making it the ideal place for a virtual..
Our photo is below.

Many thanks de ja vu for a very interesting virtual that highlights more than one great feature in this area, a favourite point from us.
Answers were relayed on the spot and permission to log given.

I've been coming to this Noojee area since the 1980's following old timber tramway walking trails and finding the old trestle bridge sites, there were a few which we can't access anymore, still enjoy this area and really appreciated doing this virtual. Tftc de ja vu

In the area today for a very special event, Mr Ahomburgs 10th year caching anniversary.
On arrival at Gz looked like I had stumbled upon another event by all the cachers walking around.
After doing the required work and having chat I hit the road for home.
Cheers de ja vu for the fun cache.

Today we found History Walkabout Virtual 2.0 on our travels. Getting a piece of advice from the CO at today’s event for ahomburg we decided we’d stop here before going off to collect the local Lab caches. Well we read every board, or at least we thought we did and went and asked the guy in the museum...nope, he was no help. Turns out there was one sign that had not been read as thoroughly as we thought...d’oh! A lovely little corner of our state, we’ll have to get back up this way for a pub meal at Powelly Pub!

Thanks de ja vu for being part of our geocaching fun.

We visited our cache today after a nearby event

What a great spot on a hot day. With power prices today perhaps the Pub should try to resurrect the old Water Wheel.

20-Dec-19
On a 41°C day, day1976 and I headed out here to noojee to get this virtual and then cool off in the river. We got out of the car near the coordinates and it was stinking hot, trying to work out the answers and where the locations to go to while in the sun wasn't so pleasant. We picked the waterwheel because it was a very short walk, and then went to the waterhole further upriver where we decided it wasn't the nicest spot, very silty and there was a dog barking constantly, so we came back down to the waterwheel, and we spent the rest of the evening in the river behind it, sitting on the submerged rocks.

20-Dec-19
Ilukaperi and I headed out this way to escape the heat of the day. I figured it would be nice to grab a virtual and maybe a couple of other caches before spending the afternoon in the river to cool off.

It took a little while to work out where to get the info, but once done we settles on tackling only the shortest and easiest of walks (given it was 41 degrees). Once that was done we found ourselves at a brilliant spot to enjoy the rest of the afternoon. We brought food down in an esky, sat in the rapids to cool off and explored up and down the river before home time came about and we headed off.

What a great spot, a FAV point from me!

Heading to Mount Baw Baw we stopped and took a stroll around this site.

An interesting read and a step back in time.

Love trestle bridges and the Noojee Trestle bridge is very impressive and a must see if in the area.

Many thanks de Ja vu for creating this virtual and highlighting this location.

My first logged virtual and we had a ball. Woohoo! Big Grin
It seemed like a kind of multi earthcachy thingy. Loads of fun.
My extended family and I enjoyed gathering all the information required and us "younguns" had some real quality time together on the gentle stroll to our chosen destination. We were collectively awestruck by the imposing structure that greeted us.
We also managed to find another sneaky little trad' there as well with plenty of opportunity to explore as a couple of the muggles among us did the car shuffle thing.

TFTC de ja vu.
This is what geocaching is all about, a fav from me. [^]

Whilst visiting Warragul to spend time with our daughter and her family from America, she chose to have a picnic lunch at Noojee. It was a delightful day to be outside. And our combined three generation group all participated in acquiring the necessary information.
a. Who donated funds for Sleeper No 11? Granddaughter Caitlyn discovered this
b. What did the tall piece of machinery make from timber? Muggle Hubby and son dalerious gave us their considered opinions
c. What is the Aboriginal name and meaning for the town? We all enjoyed reading the various notice boards in this very well arranged area.
- then the younger and fitter members of our group chose to walk the two kilometres to the magnificent trestle bridge, while Muggle Hubby and I drove there to meet them, and entertained ourselves by finding the “Come and play Bridge with me” traditional, sneaky, cache cleverly concealed nearby.
Cybergran V, son dalerious, daughter Pennstar, grandson IceSquad, and other assorted Muggle family members - Muggle Hubby, Son in law David, granddaughters Stephanie and Caitlyn and grandson Nelson.
Thanks for bringing us here to this great picnic spot and to see the spectacular bridge

We're chasing Victoria's first Adventure Lab tour, and picking up caches along the way. Starting at around 9:30am, we finished the Geocaching Adventure at about 4:30pm - we took it pretty easy today and had a great time. This was one of the caches we found along the way, after our big day we headed for one of the many new virtual caches. We got the required information - answers sent, then headed out to our spot to take a pic and grab another find! Thanks for the virtual cache de ja vu.

Out and about with Geoturtle37 and beckNmonts today and Bec mentioned this new virtual. We hadn't done the caches in the area and Bec had this and a couple of others still to do so we made the drive.
Thoroughly enjoyed gathering the answers for this. Such a sleepy area now.
Thanks for placing this here and bringing us to this area.

Had a great time gathering the answers for this cache. Shame it was so cold as it would have been great to explore more of the landmarks. Thank you for giving us a great reason to come for a drive.

This really is a beautiful area. Having come here often as a child with my grandmother, I appreciate any opportunity to come back. A virtual cache here? A no brainer! Of course I had to come and visit. We searched for the nearby trad (well done Papi4506 on the find), followed by some searching for virtual answers, and then onto a final location. The final location we chose is another place I used to visit with my grandmother. MontsII tells stories of walking the railway as a child and stumbling across the bridge. He had no idea it was there! (Obviously it was not touristy as it is now). Thanks for a great virtual, a fav point from me.

16-Jun-19
This one had us running around looking for the answers for a while, but after inspecting all the information boards, and the awesome chainsaw sculptures we had answers that we were pretty happy with.

Onwards to our destination of choice where we caught an accidental cache and had a trip down memory lane!

After completing the Adventure Lab cache in Neerim East with Team ZACAAAT, +Wife and I headed towards Noojee.
Our first stop was out at The Poplars campground. We camped here many times when our boys were young, my how the area has changed since then. All the poplar trees are gone.
We then drove back into town and on to this new Virtual Rewards cache. Smile
Having visited the area countless times over the years it was with a sense of de ja vu that we returned. Wink
Spent some time reading all the boards and taking photos before heading off to continue our adventure. [^]

Was looking for caches after completing one of the locations in the Adventure lab locations and thought that grabbing this one would be fun. Had a very interesting history lesson about the area and the steam train. Went to the trestle bridge afterwards and had a great view from on top. TFTC de ja vu

Joint (FTF) The Welder and heymissjo. After a busy weekend celebrating my daughters birthday, I managed to clear my day for a caching adventure with my caching mate, The Welder. We started the day with some local new field puzzles and then wondered what next... The Welder looked at me, he said, you up for an adventure? Silly question really... he had seen this new virtual pop up about 13 hours early and yet was still unfound... the fact we were 70km away was only a minor detail! So after stocking up on supplies we headed off wondering if we would beat the other FTF hounds. On arrival at GZ, we did a quick scan to see if the visitors were tourists or perhaps in hunt of the same treasure as us. Luck was on our side! After capturing the required clues, we debated which adventure we would chose. With light diminishing, we selected the closest one and headed off on foot. With all required answers and photos captured, we had to head back to mobile reception to ensure a log was placed to secure our FTF! Bingo!! Thanks for the cache, we loved the adventure, and although answers were logged decided to go back and play out another of the chose your own adventure! thanks for the fun!
