I came up here about a year ago and completely forgot to log this virtual! This time around after a nights camping with Baristyan, I wasnt going to make the same mistake. Such a cool place this! And one of serious historical significanceIm constantly flabbergasted there arent more people up here more often.Terrific place for a virtual! And absolutely superb if youre keen for a spot of camping. Baristyan lights an amazing fire. Thanks!
Greetings from Tasmania. I arrived in Canberra for a few days to catch up on a few caches before my trip to Batemans Bay with ALL7.What a great journal to the country and some of the caches. Also, the weather is so beautiful: sunny and not really cold. There is a light snow area. TFTV
Wow what a great spot which I haven't been here before but lucky I went today with ALL7 and FFLL and very interesting to know what happen to it and thank you for bringing us here TFTV
I texted FFLL and Groot-1983 to see if both were free to join me for a drive today.. Both say YES FREE DAY.. Zoom drive around to Country find few caches... The weather so beautiful warm not windy and cold... We are good laughing and crazy women.... thanks
A group of eager cachers decided to brave the chilly morning and venture up Booroomba Rocks. All caches we found were signed as Ice Breakers due to the thin layers of ice covering all the puddles and how entertaining they are to drop and smash on the nearby rocks. The weather warmed up throughout the day and made for a beautiful day in the sun.I've come to enjoy these group ventures as you always get to know people better and create great friendships. We stopped by the Honeysuckle Creek Tracking Station on our way back. I enjoyed reading the information and learning about the tracking station that was here. I was also exhausted and ready to go home after a long day out. Thankyou for Aykayem for the virtual!
**This Cache:**Funnily enough, the placement date of this virtual is the exact same date that I last visited this location & have several finds around the place! Turns out it was placed during the Community Celebration that was hosted here, I cant believe its taken me this long to come back. What an awesome spot for a virtual cache though, well done for taking the leap and putting it out here in Namadgi! TFTC **Today:**The Ice Breakers tackle Booroomba! The group consisted of Myself, panstpeople, Scaphoid, DeadThief, Turtle284, EthisEthat, Googlehihihi, C10A + two extras. We started the day by taking two trips in DeadThiefs 4WD, as we quickly discovered the Booroomba Rocks access road is not suitable for any other vehicles! Our main target was the archived multi Temple of Nature, as well as one of Canberras oldest caches & some high terrain scrambles down the cliff! It was a hugely successful day, 10km of walking and all the main targets were conquered, only missed a couple on the way back! Got out of Namadgi before sunset too! Thanks to all the COs
#4925 A quick stop off after a big day up on and around Booroomba Rocks. Always interesting to see these remnants of such important historical facilities.Grabbed a happy snap for the virtual requirements while I was here. Thanks Aykayem for this Virtual placement.
Find # 1251714/7/2024 On a recent trip with fellow geocachers, discussions were had of possible hikes. Legoland was one area that a few of us were very interested to visit, with some of us having found half of the geocaches, and others still had many to find so a date was set.Very frosty start this morning. It was -2 in the Legoland car park though thank goodness we were able to drive as the gate was still open.On the way down from Legoland I stopped off here as this is one of the last remaining caches for me to log in this area. Well, until next time. A lovely spot and a beautiful day Thanks Aykayem for One Small Step (Virtual Reward 2.0)
I had the most wonderful day out! It began with a drive in the morning mist down to Namadgi with a temperature around -2 degrees. But you know the saying: There is no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing Then followed a few hours of walking through some spectacular rock formations and bush landscapes.*sitting here trying to type a log while I'm still largely lost for words*Maybe I'll post a photo instead. After I left the party, I visited the site of the former Honeysuckle Creek tracking station; this made my internal science nerd very happy Thank you to everyone involved in organising the day out, and to Aykayem for bringing me up here with this virtual cache!
I'm out and about in Namadgi today with my family to explore Legoland, and we decided to check out the old Honeysuckle Creek tracking station while we were at it too!Plenty of information boards to read around here with lots of fascinating history!A very interesting location indeed, so some photos were obviously taken - fortunately I remembered to take one that complied with the requirements for this virtual while I was at it!Thanks to Aykayem for placing this virtual here!
Find number 13291 at 8:07:11AM on Thursday the 4 April 2024Eleventh full day travelling around the nations capital and today, well, it's a bit overcast and not as good as yesterday but it could have been worse, much worse I headed out at sparrows f$#t down south again to finally find the ACT windmill geocache and then back to Canberra to check out a few of Canberra's tourist attractions like the Portrait Gallet and the High Court Whilst I was down this way I dropped into Honeysuckle Creek for a look see and grabbed this one.Lovely spot!**Thanks for placing this cache Aykayem**---Nominations for the **2023 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards** are now open and will close on **17 April 2024**. Nominate your favourite caches [here](https://forms.gle/Ktb6LZvtAJDX5iCb6/).And join us for a sausage sizzle as we announce all the shortlisted nominees at Cherry Lake on 21 April 2024. Well it is Canberra Geobash Mega time and Im spending 6 nights up here on the Mega site and also the ACT has put on some brilliant weather for us so far during the day.Well it is day 5 for me and it was a slight sleep in for me as I have had a few early mornings. After my morning coffee I set off back down to this beautiful area to collect a few caches.Orroral campground looks a good spot to camp and to explore the area.I had been down this way last Thursday collecting windmill information and was back again today to find some multis and a few others including this one. While doing a virtual in the city I noticed a photo of Prime Minister John Gordon and he was photographed at the old tracking station and that pricked my curiosity.Got to Honeysuckle creek and another great looking camping spot.Soon found where the old dish used to be and made my observations.A great read on the information boards as well.A fav goes out to you for highlighting this great area. Thanks Aykayem TFTVC.
I'm on my way to do the GeoBash Tidbinbilla Tracking Station tour and thought it be good to come and see where it all happened 55 years ago when I and 600 million others watched what was being broadcast from here (and the Dish at Parkes) of the events unfolding on the moon.I'm so glad I did! It brought back so many memories of the day. I'm still left wondering, though ... what made Honeysuckle and Parkes the right sites in Australia to track the Apollo missions? Thanks for a virtual here akayem ... gets a fave point from me.
Part of the Sandgroper contingent that has come to the Mega to explore new hunting grounds. Its sure to be a great week with many finds and laughs with lots of great friends and maybe some new ones along the way. Thank you for placing this cache for our enjoyment. Logged as WA5
Day number four in Canberra and surrounds for the OzMega Geobash across the Easter weekend. Was back in towards the capital this morning to complete my tour of around Parliament House and grab a few more caches in the area. The plan for today with the WA5 (I C Nothing, meme28, geotrakka, Burns345 & myself) was to target caches with high favourite points and at higher altitudes. As expected today filled with a fantastic variety of cache types and containers that highlighted the ACT caching communitys creativity and sense of adventure. And with a bigger group each were located quickly. The evening was a little slower than the last few days with the WA5 joining another group of West Aussies for the quiz night at the event site. Thanks Aykayem for placing One Small Step (Virtual Reward 2.0) for me and others to find.I added my name to the log at 12:04 on 30/3/2024.This is find number 8572 for me.
Over here for Canberra Mega from Western Australia picking up caches and meeting like persons. TFTC signed as WA5 (Geotrakka Meme28 Burns345 ic_nothing cirrus_wa)
We have been spoilt with these beautiful Canberra days. We cant complain about how this GeoBash week is going!Out and about with our WA5 team Burns345 Geotrakka ICNothing and Cirrus_WA collecting some targeted caches on our list!Took some photos while we were here and wandered around taking in the information.Cheers!
Having a great time at my first Mega arriving from WA. I have my eye on high favourited caches and trying to fill my grid today. Signing as a team - WA5Some logs are delayed - Apologies for that- its been hectic trying to keep up! Many thanks Aykayem for placing this hide for me to find and adding to my adventures.
Canberra GeoBash DashDay Three: Corowa to Queanbeyan. Weather: Warm and smokey. The last time that I was even close to here, large areas of Namadji were closed because of recent fires. A great drive through awesome scenery. Im assuming that this photo is sufficient to claim a find, but Ive got the answers to the triangles questions as back up.I was in primary school too, maybe a little too young to appreciate how monumental it was at the time. Thanks for the history and for bringing me to this interesting spot Aykayem.
Great way to finish my holiday with dad. I will be back to spend some time here and find all the caches. TFTC. LongWayHome.
Four years ago, a Bromance team adventure to hike Australia's highest 10 peaks was cancelled after bushfires devastated the Snowy Mountains (and indeed most of the Eastern seaboard). We finally returned to Kosciuszko National Park a few days ago and have just spent three wonderful days in perfect weather hiking a circuit around the mountains climbing Australia's 13 highest peaks and collecting all the alpine caches along our route. My hike ended up being hike some 61 km with about 2800 m of ascent over 2 1/2 days including two spectacular nights camping - at Mueller's Pass and Aries Tor.We are now heading for Canberra for the night, stopping at interesting caches along the way, before venturing north on a caching road trip back home to Brisbane. Seffnjarah had attempted to get to this cache a few times previously without success, thwarted by road closures and fires and such. So he was very keen to make amends for that today. It was hot, but we took the time to wander amongst the displays, checking out a fascinating piece of Australia's history. Many thanks AykayemPete#7,663
After completing a 3 day hike around 13 peaks in Kosciuszko National Park, Crookedpete, JezNDez and I headed back to Canberra for a well deserved hot shower and a proper cooked dinner. The enjoyment of some creature comforts would have to be delayed though until we called in to visit a few geocaches along the way, including this one.I haven't had much luck visiting this location, having been thwarted on two previous occasions due to the access road being closed due to burn offs or roadworks. I crossed my fingers and toes as we turned off onto Apollo Road, and was much relived to find the Road Open sign displayed. Third time lucky!Following the winding road we drove all the way to GZ. Boy, it was quite a bit hotter out here than up in the mountains of Kosciusko NP, with the heat of the sun reflecting up off the asphalt and concrete. Walked over to GZ and took the required photo. Glad to sign off on this one at long last. TFTC
It was a lovely day to visit the area, after a walk up to Booroomba Rocks, this virtual was a must visit. It's a great area of history, thanks for highlighting!
Its nice to come here to honeysuckle again, its been a while. Great place for a virtual, fave point

# 8816 Day 8 of 28 for current. Wheel of Challenges: Star Streak.
IPlod65 and I have family visitors, so today we decided to go find some snow. Corin Forest was booked out being school holidays, so we chose to chance it here. Sadly no snow here, but it's a significant place and we enjoyed our visit.
Grabbed the required pic.
Thanks Aykayem for the Virtual Cache

Took advantage of the lovely weather to visit Namadji and the remains of Honeysuckle Creek Tracking Station again - lots of people around enjoying the sunshine and learning about our space history. Photos of Wannabee2 reading the information near GZ taken by KimChoc. Thanks for the cache Aykayem.
Today FFLL no 2 joined albida33, AngelG27, Toy Hunters, Joolay, Kittykatch and sebass19 to grab a few caches around the Booromba Rocks for a bit of fun. We couldn't have asked for better weather for this walk. A cool start and clear blue sky all day as we trekked up the rocky hills and down the rocky dales, stopping when we needed to give the old knees a break, or take in some great vistas. Some of the areas required a bit of a scramble through thick undergrowth, but still worth it. Today we called ourselves the June Booroomba Bash (JBB or BB).
After coming down off the Booroomba Rocks, we decided to head to Honeysuckle Creek to grab this virtual. Thanks Aykayem

Great to finally be back out in Namadgi and we had a beautiful winter day today to explore. This was the last cache for the day and great to be back here to see the new art installations. Thanks for the hide Aykayem
Found with Booroomba Bash (BB or JBB) consisting of me, albida33, AngelG27, FurfacesLL, Joolay, Kittykatch and sebass19. We nabbed this one after our massive walk up to Boroomba. Nice and easy virtual, just the way I like them! Great choice for a virtual location, many of us were at Tidbinbilla Tracking Station yesterday and saw the DSS dish that used to be at this GZ! TFTC AKM!
Since my return to Canberra, I have been looking forward to getting out on a group walk. The opportunity came along a little quicker than expected and a trip to Booroomba Rocks was planned for today. I was joined for a great days walking and scrub bashing by Joolay, Kitty Katch, AlngelG27, FurfacesLL, Sebass19 and Toy Hunters. The logs were signed JBB for June Booroomba Bash. We met up at the Booroomba Rocks car park on a bright sunny but quite cold morning. It was not long before we were on our way up the trail, but with a few stops along the way, it seemed to go in no time. The caching along the top of the rocks began and then a trip out to South Canberra views. With time run out we skipped the trip down the cliff face and returned to the car park for a final short detour walk to another big rock. The day was finished with the virtual up at Honey Suckle Creek tracking station, amongst the huge crowds camping for the weekend. This was a fantastic day and I can't wait for out next outing.
This Virtual is one of the most recent I have not done and since we were out this way, we pulled up to grab the required image. This area we very busy this afternoon, with campers all over the place.
Thanks for the cache Aykayem

Thanks Aykayem for the virtual cache - fabulous and fascinating adventure sharing in the moonshot mission. Had a blast!
What a great little part of history in our backyard. Great little place for a virtual cache, thanks!
A bright blue sky day exploring Apollo Valley and surrounds. Some amazing history at Honeysuckle Creek
I've been up here multiple times over the years. Good to see that it's constantly being looked after and made into a great camping and day recreation area. Plenty of people about enjoying the long weekend as well.
Collected the required photos and zoomed onto the next. Thanks for bringing me back.

Found this nice Cache together with Dino and Flintstones. Thank you for putting it out and maintaining it Aykayem.
A weekend with the family in Namadgi. Today we had planned to go for a nice walk up on the Legoland ridge line not realizing that that road was closed. Change of plans to find some caches at the tracking station.
A very nice and significant spot for a virtual. Thank you Aykayem for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

I love what they've done with the 50th anniversary celebrations! This was the first ever spot we visited in the ACT, before moving here. Always a delight to return. Tftc
What a fabulous spot. So rich in history and a great campground.

A bit of a drive over to this area today and this one was a nice surprise, it wasn’t on my list but I was happy to revisit this spot that I haven’t been to for close on 15 years. Photos are attached to my logs.
Thanks Aykayem for the cache.

Providing radio communication for the 2022 annual Fitz's Challenge bike ride and decided to add an extra side quest.

A shiny new list of virtuals on the ACT map for this work trip. I wasn't sure I would get to this one, but I figured I had just enough daylight to sneak down after work. I did not factor in the breeze and freezing temp on arrivals...
A really neat spot when I got here and I got straight to business. A couple of pics here, some more there, I returned to the car to thaw out. It would have been great to see this in full swing by in its hay day. I have visited three similar sites across Australia that were or are still active, but this is much smaller.
Thanks for bringing me up here, I enjoyed the location.
Cheers Aykayem.

I had a couple of hours free thismorning so took myself off to Booroomba Rocks, but stopped here first to visit a very familiar site and take a photo - attached (luckily I wore my 'geocaching' cap in case anyone wondered what I was doing, which was geocaching [as per the cap]).
Quite a few people camping up here last night, either in tents, trailers or in one case an RV parked just down from GZ.
Thanks, Aykayem - I never get tired of coming up here.

Always a nice spot to visit. This was my last camp site on the Australian Alps Walk several years ago before reaching Tharwa.
You may think I have spent a lot of time in creating an artistic photo of the site, but you would be wrong. The photo just turned out this way.

Yesterday we visited GZ having been here just a month ago, and many times last year. It is always lovely to come to this location with many trees and bushes lush, green, thick and tall having somehow avoided the devastating 2020 bushfires.
We collected the required data, took a silly photo which did quite work as planned, then headed for the Orroral Valley to cycle and hike all afternoon. TFTVC Aykayem.

Chooo ooo [FTF] with dty73! We had hatched a plan last night at the NYE party that if we made it up early enough this morning, we could try for this FTF! This is a great location, have been here many times! And early this morning was lovely! A great way to start the new year! The day was perfect, still nice and cool. We had the monument to ourselves, the only other people about were at the campsite busy making breakfast! Favourite from me! Thanks Aykayem!

We got up early and made the drive out here for this cache.
Such a nice spot. The morning sun was pretty warm already and listening to the birds and animals around was lovely.
This is a good idea for a virtual spot. And such a significant place too. Tftc Aykayem!!!
