Good to see our Police recognised for the challenging work they do and the price they sometimes pay. There was a bit of a break in the cold spell today and the sun was out much earlier and things warmed up, even though the temperature only got to 13 degrees. We had been keen to ride our bikes round Lake Burley Griffin so today was the day. We only made it to the Farmer's Market on our first attempt then had to return to the van with our purchases! With that done it was back out to firstly catch the tram into town and then the ride round the lake. On our way round we picked up a variety of caches, trads, multis, puzzles and quite a number of Virtuals. Some were straightforward while others challenging.Lunch at the National Portrait Gallery was welcome. We made it home just as the sun was settingThank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Jump Pilot.**SKI Pair****

Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Back in Canberra for ANZAC day. With a late morning start we were on the bikes through EPIC to the light rail then the plan was to ride between the bridges of Lake Burley Griffin but alas too many caches and too little time so another day at least to finish that task. Bit of a breeze today so whilst sunny it was still a little cool. some lengthy search didnt help with our time management. We saw at least 2 school groups cycling around the lake, lucky for us they were going the other way, whilst we were stopped having lunch. CoolBeing from WA we made sure to get the WA flag in the picture. CoolTFTC Jump Pilot Cool

I visited this lovely tribute with sir_spectre while in Canberra for a holiday. Thanks for sharing with us

23-Apr-24
Found with Mogni. Myself and mogni are headed off to canberra on the " I missed the Capital GeoBash Mega " holiday, since last minute family problems came in to play and we had to adjust our plans by a few weeks. On the way over we targeted multi's, wherigo's and puzzles to make sure we had 25 in each or at least close to that total ( or more ) as possible, getting as many new New South Wales LGA's as possible, the 17th most favourite point NSW cache and every cache size in New South Wales. In the ACT it was getting 2 of the 5 oldest letterboxes, oldest wherigo in Australia, 2nd oldest earthcache ( with a side trip to get the oldest earthcache of course ), and ACT oldest cache too. I also hosted a CITO and planned on getting every different cache type i could and eevry different cache size as well. I also needed 9 more virtuals this trip to get my virtual count over 100. Finally canberra was far enough away from from house to complete the well aged well travelled cacher 0 to 1000 kms with a cache every 10 km's ( i only need 7 more caches to complete )Leaving the ACT it was going via Victoria to get there last active web cam cache and slowly getting a total of 20 finds in each LGA i passed through if i had enough time plus also hosting a CITO in Victoria as well. A busy 11 days. Trust me by the end of the holiday you would have thought the 6 meter ladder weighed more than 13 kg's to amount of times it was used or carried up hills or over creeks. If your cache was found with a broken container/lid it was replaced or if the log was full it was replaced or a extra log if the container was big enough ( except for nano's, do your own maintenance on nano's.

Another very interesting place to visit in Canberra, that I wouldnt have known to come to if it wasnt for geocaching. It was pretty busy, and when I returned to my car I realised Id parked illegally. Woops. Id missed the no parking sign pointing in the direction of where Id parked. Luckily no ticket waiting for me.Thanks for bringing me to this spot. Photos attached.

2/4/2024 Find #6972The final day in Canberra for KBreeAHH, Captain Terror and me, and we were going to pack it with caching before handing the hire car back and relaxing in the lounge at the airport. Having been up as far as Murrumbateman and then Yass this morning, we were now back down in Canberra for our final caches. We had decided to do a walking circuit around here to complete our mission. This was the furthest cache in the circuit today for us. Then it was time to begin the journey back. Thank you to all those who serve to protect us and keep our society safe. Thanks for the cache Jump Pilot.

In Canberra to attend the Capital Geo Bash mega event. I attended the Queanbeyan Mega event a couple of years ago which is when I did a lot of the touristy things. This trip was more focused on Geocaches. There has been an abundance of new high quality caches published since my last visit so more than enough to keep me busy. Obligatory photo is attached. An additional photo taken a little later in the evening nearing sunset. Thank you Jump Pilot, for placing We Will Remember (VR 2.0) for the geocaching community.# # SmileSmile #14562 SmileSmile # #

Found by The Empire + HOn a warm and sunny day in Canberra, we set out to explore the Menzies Walk around Lake Burley Griffin. The weather was delightful, with the sun casting its golden rays upon us and a gentle breeze providing relief from the warmth. However, with the sun beating down and the temperature rising, we quickly realised the importance of staying hydrated. Armed with plenty of water bottles, we began our walk along the scenic pathway, taking in the stunning views of the lake and surrounding landscape. The shimmering waters of Lake Burley Griffin stretched out before us, inviting us to immerse ourselves in its beauty. As we made our way along the Menzies Walk, the heat became more intense, and the need for water became increasingly apparent. We made frequent stops to quench our thirst, taking sips of cool, refreshing water to keep ourselves hydrated and energised for the journey ahead. Despite the warm weather, the beauty of our surroundings never failed to captivate us. We marvelled at the lush greenery along the shoreline, the colourful blooms that dotted the pathway, and the sight of sailboats gliding gracefully across the water. Thanks for the cool virtual cache, Jump Pilot.-MVirtual #235

Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. Photo attached. Cheers Jump Pilot! Big GrinJoin us in Augusta, in Western Australias South West, for WA Goes Big 2024 (GCAGV8Y) on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September. Log your will attend now!

The Cockburn Crew are on tour at the Capital Geobash in Canberra - travelling from Perth to Sydney, Canberra, Sydney and finally back to Perth.Today was day 3 and we had an absolute blast, after an earlier night last night we got up early to head to Yass and the surrounding areas to cleanup a bunch of caches inparticular whereigos and our personal favourite the challenge caches. We stopped in Yass and completed some high quality caches before venturing back to the trails. We completed a huge number of trails, challenges, whereigos, traditional, multis, earthcaches, labs, virtuals and puzzles. It really was a great day for variety. We enjoyed caching in territory we havent been before. Weve filled our boots with some rare DTs and DTTs and generally had a great time. Thanks to the COs for a great day and event. Logs signed as part of team WA/WAC (WA Crew)

After finishing up the mega event festivities I C Nothing and I were still up for a spot of caching so talked Lachlan1.77, Leg5 & Barnzy12 into joining us and we made our way back into the city in an attempt to get as many central caches as we could before the end of the weekend and a return to normal life beckons. On a quiet night in Canberra we combined between walking and driving to caches and by the time we returned to our accommodation had managed to collect a tidy sum of 21 finds and starting to rest before an early morning event to kick off Monday. Thanks Jump Pilot for placing We Will Remember (VR 2.0) for me and others to find.I added my name to the log on 31/3/2024.This is find number 8766 for me.

Selfie taken I showed some respect for the fallen. The trip bit.Easter geocaching festival of twenty twenty four. This time it is the turn of Oz Mega GeoBash MEGA event in the nation's capital. It is time for a road trip across country to Canberra in the Sporty Pajero Sports. Freddo and Gridge98 traveling from Adelaide via a strange inland route that takes in scenic rural locations, dusty roads, punctured tyres, overheating batteries, various tools of the trade, special campgrounds, and lots scope for many many geocaching finds. Along the way we saw running emus, jumping kangaroos, wandering deer, dead foxes, herds of wooly sheep and stray steers.Arriving in Canberra we met our colleagues e.gregory1, featherwaite, team walron, courtney rose, davidwazza, e_smilie, and georode, signing as ABP, plus a huge group of other like minded excited mega geocachers attending event after event, and more events.Day one. Canberra to QueenbeeyanDay eight. Canberra to AdelaideThe generic bit.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. As part of the tour group, we walked a ton of miles and signed all the caches as LT2. I did my best to get the U.S. flag behind me for this photo. Gotta represent!Thank you for the smiley and the fun!The day:Today was day 3 of my time in Canberra for the GeoBash Mega from the U.S. and getting to spend time with my friends. Hooray! It was another day that started with an awesome tour around Lake Burley Griffin. The weather was warm and the cachers were friendly. We were led by tankengine, one of the cachers who had a hand in the gadget caches at the mega, has awesome mysteries and other caches in the area. He kept us moving the entire time and we were able to get all the caches on our list. Then I attended the mega which was a lot of fun. There were so many people! The gadget caches were amazing, the adventure labs were fun, and the evening get together for trivia was a blast. Many thanks to all the geocachers who placed and continue to maintain their geocaches for folks like me to find. I know it's not always easy, but know that I appreciate you.

Logs were signed ABP to save time and space on the logsheets. It was a productive day, focusing mainly on caches of interest, with an emphasis on the Virtual caches and a couple of older ones. The weather was fine and quite warm, in contrast to some of the other times Ive been in Canberra over Easter. Thanks Jump Pilot for the cache. And a favourite point from me for a straightforward Virtual cache with a simple logging requirement. Well done!

A fitting memorial to the men and women of the police service ?? We will remember them.

Well, for someone that has not bothered to do anything geocaching related for a while I seem to be going out of the way to do Mega events. This particular caching trip was the brainchild of the other participant in this little excursion, that being greencordial. I flew into Toowoomba this morning hoping that the car gremlins had departed (they hadnt, but were sorted with another quick mechanical visit) and we were on our ways to Canberra. Fingers crossed I do like the design of this tribute. The characteristics desired in those service the force are all commendable and etched into the stone neatly and effectively. Thanks Jump Pilot for placing this Virtual for me to convert into a smilie

Find # 8,634 for me on 27 Mar 2024 at 1:30pm. This cache was found on our Canberra Mega adventure. Today I had a plan on grabbing a variety of caches and all with a varying degree of types and difficulties. There is a great number of caches with special attributes and d/t's around town. For me it was an early start and I first took off to grab a cache and a virtual after I had fueled up at the local servo. I then raced off to grab a few more before I had to meet up with my caching buddy of the day Grannysmith. We had a huge day and a lot of laughs, there were few stories to catch up on and some great caches.Logs were signed and caches replaced as found. Thanks for the hides. There is so much to see and do in Canberra, I am overwhelmed. I enjoyed this cache as much as it is a memorial to some very hardworking and non praised people, thanks.

6 months ago, during a frenzy, we said to ourselves "why not going to the mega in Adelaide for the leapday". From scratch we moved on to preparing an 18-day project in Australia. Our objectives are simple, visit a small part of this immense continent while validating a few caches. There are so many caches (impossible to do everything) that we will select. Our plan will allow us to visit Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Mount Gambier and finish in Adelaide for the famous Mega.During our stay we will log PestiHoot for Pestinette and Blackhoot.During our 2 days in Canberra, we visited Black Mountain, the surrounding parks and the parliament while following the caches and labs. We made some great discoveries and great experiences. Thanks to the caches we visited many sites evoking Australian culture and history. Thanks for the cache and the discovery of beautiful or original spots
