Leaving Geelong in the morning we made our way through Melbourne and towards Canberra. We made a little detour through Wangaratta, to stretch the legs and visit this virtual cache. Thanks a lot for the cache,Murkel, on tour with Muckel113. September 2024 17:10
I set off from Canberra to Shepparton to visit a longtime friend. As an Albury girl who ventured to Melbourne and back often it wasnt my first trip to Wang, but first in a long time and well worth diverting off the freeway. Even got sushi, how times have changed. The pen thing was challenging but got there in the end. TFTV.
Off to meet our kids and share the drive home. A neat piece of art to begin our cache around town. Tft
Kid free, and with the wife at work, I decided to spend the afternoon caching around Wangaratta. So many little gems around Wang. Good weather today and lots of interesting caches and places visited.Yet another interesting sculpture. Missed out in doing all these at the Mega. TFTC!
Thx ahomburg. We stayed the night in the Park View motel on our way to Melbourne. I just had enough time to whizz out and grab this virtual. Made a blue though, and sent a message to the wrong owner. Fixed that up and then all was good!I am giving a talk to the geograndkids Scout group next week on geocaching!Got a favourite from me.
Day 12 of my interstate trip. Today I left Everton and continued on my way to Sydney making it as far as Burrumbuttock where I spent the night at a free camp site. I managed to find 17 caches today and only 1 DNF.A great piece of art thanks for bringing me here.TFTC ahomburg
Wonderful cache today I took a pic with the lady at the front, but buckoraider reminded me I needed to be playing music so a second pic was taken This town is wonderful! Im so glad we spent a whole day here
Gee whiz I suspect Id have been punted from this jazz band pretty quickly! I managed to sneak in for just long enough to get some time on the keys. Thanks!
This was our first full day in the Wang and we spent the morning grabbing a few caches in town before driving down to King Valley to grab some Prosecco. Our whole reason for spending a week in town was so that we could be close to the bubbles and as far away from our kids that are never going to move out of home.I know that I am the bomb when singing in the shower, and also cant believe how good I go after a skinful of beers at karaoke, but I was generally surprised when the band at GZ asked me to get up for a few guest vocals. I started ripping into a rendition of Fly Me to the Moon at full pitch until Mrs Woodyrothwell reminded me that we were in public and my singing reminds her of scratching finger nails on a blackboard.Answer sent and photo attached. Lets just say the band and I have already planned our last and final reunion tour. Once that finishes we will start planning our next very last tour, and then the next one. tftc
What an unusual request for the photo. It was a bit of a challenge! Found while driving through town and stopping for a breather. Thanks!
We were heading to Canberra for our second Mega in as many months, and when you are driving a long way, it is wise to break up your drive to prevent driver fatigue. With this in mind, we stopped quite a bit on the journey to find a good number of caches and endeavoured to get closer to qualifying for more Challenge caches. We will use some relatively generic logs with the sheer number of logs we need to complete after the Mega. We are tired and have insufficient brain power to do much more than that.We would like to thank all the cache owners for placing the caches for us to find, and unless otherwise noted, we found all caches in excellent condition.I used a Whiteboard marker so it showed up in the picture.Thank you, ahomburg, for this Virtual cache.
I loved this statue! It was school drop off time and the crossing guard helped me get across the street to get to it. How fun is that?My photo does not have the statue using the pen, but I let the CO know when I sent in my answer that I was the pen holder. LOLThank you for the smiley and the fun!The day:Today I continued my month long journey from the U.S. along the east coast of Australia!! I was on my way to Canberra for the GeoBash mega and reuniting with the Aussie friends I left behind when I left Adelaide almost a month ago. I had a a shorter list than usual in hopes of getting to Canberra by early afternoon. I think I found all that I sought, but either way, it was a successful run north. Many thanks to all the geocachers who placed and continue to maintain their geocaches for folks like me to find. I know it's not always easy, but know that I appreciate you.
Visited it during 28-days geotrip to Australia, N.Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Am.Samoa, Fr.Polynesia with Marci, Ch. Sometimes we logged as "MT" or "Jonea" or "MTCh". Thanks for showing nice caches and places. MT-Jonea from Brno city in Czechia EU. FP
Now we are on the way to Canberra for the mega and pick up some more caches .Found the cache with TBU1BIKESU. Tftc. ahomburg

This trip is the...ADELAIDE MEGA TRIP ??This cache-which challenge/ why???LGA??can't pass a virtual ??leg stretch ??Had a great time catching up with friends and caching ourselves silly at the Mega in Adelaide and now I'm wandering home to Brisbane.Had planned to go to a few places in the high country but a big storm sent me running for more open spaces. Hadn't been able to come to the Mega here so it was a new playground for me. Scanning the map I noticed an event on this evening as well as four virtuals and a couple of solved puzzles so I put the skates on to see what I could get done before the event. Managed to park nearby and scooted over to find the answer and take my happy snap. TFTC??
Where's the saxophone? Had to settle for second best as himself is a trumpeter. All three of us are musicians so it was great to see this fun statue.
Here I am holding this cool cats jazz cigarette while they bust a move.Thank you for taking me here and the awesome selfie request. *jazz hands*
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Moving today from Shepparton to Wangaratta. Couldn't be too early at the caravan park so a detour to drop the van off and head out to pick up some caches near Dookie and Devenish. Once we arrived mid afternoon we decided to tackle the multitude of AdLabs, it was pretty hot this afternoon. Managed to grab 3 virtuals, and a traditional aswell. Before a lovely dinner at the local RSL. Answer sent.TFTC ahomburg [^]
Firstly, thank you for making me aware of this artwork I'd never have seen while driving past without the cache to highlight it. Required photograph successfully captured recently, as attached; I chose to pose with the pianist as a tribute to the wonderful music of Count Basie and Ray Charles.
An afternoon of caching in Wangaratta, The usual finding of unknown locations, gardens and parks.

After a very late check out from our hotel we took a walk to get a few before going to our event.Nice piece of art here.TFTC
What fun we can have when Harrietville turns into Wang, and then you decide its only a 100 metre dash in the rain to get the photo and answer the question, and then you get soaked all over again. Please, no autographs were artistes!!
Driving to Beechworth for a short holiday with the family, we had time to do a few caches on the way.
This was an amusing way to do a virtual.
What a fun virtual. We tried several poses before deciding which one to use. Thanks ahomburg.

WOW, I’ve been past this statue many times and never stopped, thanks for the cache
Now that is an unusual group of statues. Very stylised.
It was a bit challenging with the pen. But a long reach helped. BTW. The orange thing is a mini pocket pen called. Pokka pen.
Thanks.

This is one that I have saved for the right day - originally for getting many cache types in a day but now for the current challenge.
A really cool sculpture in Wangaratta - think the festival is a victim of the Covid years.

Should have done this ages ago I suppose but done now. Have been here before, in the process of caching by the way. The pen holding thing could mean two things depending on punctuation. May have missed the intention here but looking at the logs it seems I'm not alone.
Thanks indeed

Driving home to Melbourne from spending the weekend in Sydney with family. Needed to stretch the legs so decided to do this virtual. Of all the times we have been through here, I’ve never noticed this piece of artwork. This is why I love caching, it takes you places that you’ve never noticed or seen before

Stopped to get the virtual as we passing doing the A - Z challenge and some lab stages. Answers sent.
Found with JAMS (( JJ52, Allister w, Mogni, plus sir_spectre ) Mitchell&hound wasn't with us this trip) crew. All logs stamped as JAMS to save log space. This trip we are off to the Rutherglen Mega and then slowly coming back to S.A. for a total of 8 dys and 7 nights. The targets of this trip are for JJ52 to get 11 more multi to get to 1000 multi's and a few more Victorian LGA's, Allister W was targeting 17 virtuals ( or as many as he could get ) a few more Victorian LGA's Mogni to make the Rutherglen Mega her 20, 000 find and also for her to complete all Victoria LGA's, sir_spectre needs 1 more multi to get to 1000 multi's and get his Victoria LGS's down to 2 LGA's left. We got 20 or more finds in a LGA if we stayed in there over night. We also detoured to stamp any challenge caches that we were " in the general area off " and to complete that challenge before we came back to S.A. This meant that some times dirt road (s) had to be walked down because they were to wet to drive down and/or haven't been repaired since last years flooding. We started off the holiday in the rain and then that cleared up only to start raining and a overnight thunder storm but most of the trip was dry. Over 600 caches found for the trip including over 120 lab stages in that total. Got to complete the GPS Maze at the Rutherglen Mega for a 2nd time. Allister w was the team driver for all of the Victorian part of the trip. I think this was the first trip ever to Victoria that the extension pole didn't get used but the 6.2 meter ladder did get a work out.

The JAMS team (JJ52 allister w, mogni and sir_spectre) were on a road trip heading to the Rutherglen Mega event (staying in Corowa) for 3 days then winding our way home via Albury, Wangaratta, Bendigo and various other places in between. It was a great week with many more caches found than we expected. There were targeted caches, challenge caches, Ad Labs, events and various others to fulfill various statistics for the four of us. We were lucky with the weather, it rained a bit on our way over on Friday, then half a day after we left Wangaratta but on the whole it was great caching weather. We did drive a few slippery muddy roads, but nothing too bad. We also caught up with lots of people either at events or out in the field and enjoyed many great chats. All in all a fun time with lots of Victoria explored and then very tired when I arrived home. [^]
We are now caching around Wangaratta finding caches to meet the A-Z challenge along with a few others.

What's there not to love about Quirky Art work that makes one smile. I didn't have my sticky tape with me so my creativity only went so far.
A few days ago we worked on Ned's helmet, and gathered the details for the slot to come back to later. Today we finished the Easter 2023 series, and there is a few hours left in the day, so we decided the best use of that time is to head down to complete Ned's slot. But I also need a couple of virtuals for a badge upgrade and a multi and a size "other" for their respective dot-days. So here we are, stopping for a toilet stop, on the way to Ned's territory. Carried on after doing the two virtuals, and picked up the "other" on the way back, and the multi closer back at Rutherglen.
I love sculpures, and I like the quirky design to this one. Gets a fave.
Found during an awesome 10 day Aussie trip, centered around the Rutherglen Mega event. Log signed as NZBITS, for NZ_B, Itchyfeet2020 and the Seagnoid.

Another big day to complete the Wherigo series near Rutherglen, which we did earlier than expected. Since we had time on our hands we decided to find the Ned Kelly letterbox series. On the way we decided to stop by and log this cache. I do like this art work.
Found with Itchyfeet2020 and the Seagnoid -all physical logs signed as NZBITS. We are one group of several kiwis over here for the Rutherglen Mega at Easter. It’s going to great with so many sessions of things I want to learn about. PLUS so many caches to find.

We are on our next geo adventure - Rutherglen Mega. NZ_B, the Seagnoid and I are here from NZ. Today is Day 7 and while the events have all finished, we had more Rutherglen caching to do. Today we finished the Wherigos - an achievement in itself! Then we headed south to finish the letterboxes for Ned Kelly, and stopped by this fun virtual on the way. My hairtye ensured that this guy was holding his pen and my ID correctly! Thanks for the fun cache.
