Having just arrived in Picton, it was straight off the ferry and into geocaching mode!I've been meaning to come up this way many times while traveling through, but never seem to have the time. Today we had plenty of time! What a beautiful view from here. Thanks for putting this virtual cache here

On our two-month trip through New Zealand and Australia we travel from Greymouth to Picton. We visited a number of caches along the way and when we arrived there was still plenty of time for a cache tour around the hotel. This virtual cache was visited during our tour around the hotel in Picton. We look for the answers and took a nice photo.**Raisinpig**, thanks for the cache.
We are currently on a eight week holiday which is mostly spent in New Zealand and Australia. However, the first three days were spent in Signapore as a nice break from an otherwise long flight. Yesterday we drove from Fox Glacier to Greymouth. Today we are already heading to our next destination which is Picton. Since it is not a very long drive we arrived rather early in Picton which gave us time for some sightseeing and geocaching. On our tour we also visited this nice look out with its virtual. Once there we read the requirements so on our way back we counted diligently. Answers have been sent by message. Thank you very much for this virtual.
Straight from the ferry I took the road up here, nice view. Thanks for the cache./herrFamaxe from Sweden
After arriving in New Zealand we (Team Downunder24) discovered the beautiful island ???????also by looking for some caches. ??"Picton View" was one of my personal favorites of the day, because I like virtuals a little bit more than other types of caches. ?? As described in the listing we looked around for the required log conditions. Additional we had have a little photo stop. ?? Very nice. ???? Thanks Raisinpig for showing that detail??
Fourth day in New Zealand ??. This is my first visit to this extraordinary country and the fulfillment of a long-cherished dream. In the past, it always failed due to the lack of a travel companion. Now I had the chance to join a large group of mainly German geocachers and I was delighted to take it. After a stopover in Qatar and 8 days in Australia, our journey continued from Auckland to Queenstown with various stopovers.Today we took the ferry to the South Island. When we arrived in Picton, we had to wait for our bus to arrive to take us onwards. This gave us a little time to explore the town and look for a few caches. First, we made our way to the viewpoint, took some photos there and used the way back to answer the questions. I sent my answers to the owner via message center. Thank you for laying & taking care .Vierter Tag in Neuseeland ??.
I too fulfilled my dream and traveled through Australia and New Zealand with a tour group. So today we took the ferry to the small and tranquil town of Piction and immediately visited this virtual cache.Thank you for luring me here and showing me, says ollillein
Ich bedanke mich bei Raisinpig fr den Picton View .On my tour through Australia and New Zealand I was part of the DownUnder24 team. In some caches, the task was solved as a group, but individuals also submitted the solutions. Conclusion: every virtual event was an experience and I saw and learned a lot. I would like to thank Raisinpig for the Picton View .

Danke fr diesen Geocache. Danke fr die Ausarbeitung. Danke frs Zeigen.Lieber Gru aus Duisburg / DeutschlandAndyDieser Logeintrag wird mit Hilfe von Google bersetzt.__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________We set off on a long journey with 37 geocachers from Germany, Denmark, Luxembourg and Switzerland. Three weeks to Australia and New Zealand, starting with a stopover in Doha, Qatar. I have never been so long and so far away from home. An exciting time. When geocaching, the focus was on many different cache types, but also special ratings, challenges and especially a few very old caches from the years 2000 and 2001. But also, of course, especially the geocaches that were easily accessible on foot from the hotel.Of course, the focus wasn't just on geocaching; the sights of the individual stations we visited also deserved attention. We entered our team name Downunder 2024 in the logbooks, saving logbook space and efficiently. It was a very special trip in a large team, which was also a lot of fun.Today we took the ferry via Marlborough Sonds to Picton and then the bus from Picton to Blenheim. Thanks for this geocache. Thanks for the elaboration. Thank you for showing me.Kind regards from Duisburg / GermanyAndyThis log entry is translated with the help of Google.
Together with 36 other geocachers, the KiSt team undertook a very long trip to Australia and New Zealand for three weeks. On both the outward and return journeys, there was a stopover in Doha, the capital of Qatar .We experienced a great deal on this trip and gained many very different impressions of the two countries, their nature and their culture. Of course, the main focus was on visiting as many caches of as many different types as possible and also all accessible old cans. However, we also made sure to visit many special places of interest and to gain as comprehensive an impression as possible of nature and its flora and fauna. To save the logbooks, we usually signed in with our team name **Downunder24**. For "special" cans, however, we have not missed the opportunity to leave our nickname as well. This beautiful cache is now also one of our finds.Due to the large number of caches visited, it is unfortunately not possible for us to write an individual log for each can, which is why we would like to apologize to the owners for this collective log.We also met other cachers at some of the events and were able to share our experiences. Many thanks to the event owners!Of course we would like to thank all the owners for showing us the great locations, the sometimes tricky puzzles, exciting multis and wherigos, as well as the interesting virtuals and earth caches - TFTC!!!---In der Besetzung KiSt unternahmen wir zusammen mit 36 weiteren Geocachern fr drei Wochen eine sehr weite Reise nach Australien und Neuseeland .

As youngest team member of team GO_Jack, I want to do some virtuals during my six-month trip to New Zealand and Japan.Yesterday I arrived in Picton and today I will mainly look around this place. Along the way I also do two virtuals, including this one. A beautiful view here.Greetings from The Netherlands.#3.584 - Raisinpig TFTC!
Hot walk up but spectacular view if the port and sound . Muggles galore so couldnt attempt the other cache at this spot ! Thanks
Andy walked up the hill from the bottom to grab the traditional cache along the way. When he reached me at the lookout he asked if I had done the virtual yet. I said no as one of us was going to have to walk down the track counting things. He volunteered to go back down and count, so we took the picture and then he headed off. After years on our bucket list and three cancellations due to Covid, we are thrilled to finally be here. Following several cruises we flew from Sydney, Australia to Wellington, New Zealand to begin our next adventure. Picked up our rental vehicle and will be driving, exploring, hiking, and caching both islands for 3.5 weeks. After visiting Picton 2.5 weeks previous to today, while aboard the Ovation of the Seas, it's fun to arrive via a rental vehicle and see the city from a different angle. We enjoyed the view from this location. Tomorrow we board the ferry to head to the North Island, thus ending our exploration of the South Island. It's been an amazing adventure so far. We snapped photos and gathered the needed information. Our answers have been sent via the message system and we appreciate the CO developing this virtual cache that earns a blue ribbon from us. Thanks for adding to our adventure today, Nukeworker and Racquetball Girl, Arkansas, USA
At last we arrive in Picton after a very enjoyable wiggly whinedy road. Answers sent to VCO
Headed up to Picton for a bit of caching. Rather wet and miserable but when you are collecting Smiley’s who cares. Answers sent. Photo attached. Thanks for the Virtual.
A lovely start to the walk until the rain came along. Enjoyed the view of both Bluebridge and Interislander ferries down below then wandered down the road counting rocks and bridges and collecting geocaches too. The kids really enjoyed this one, cheers. Answers sent.
Time for another challenge, favourite points. This one has a few, so time to grab it. Answers to 1 & 2 sent to CO, and photo attached for 3. I had no idea there were that many bridges and rocks up this track. With all the sick ferries at the moment, there was nothing in port when I called by.
Arrived at Picton for one night before going to the north Island we could find here the traditional and the virtual. Nice view to the harbour. We leave a FP there. Tftc.
Stunning view from look out. Just got off ferry and I can see that South island has got my heart. The views are stunning. On our way to kaikoura, shame we cant spend a night here. Our ferry I photo. TFTC
Day 10 on our holiday in New Zealand. We visited the spot of this Virtual Cache. We made the requested photo, and added it to the log. Of course we searched for the answer, and sent it to the CO.

Day 5, and our last, of our caching adventure to the wildfoods festival and back. Back in Picton waiting for our ferry with Mr-Mcgoo and Justlooking00. After yummy brekkie in town we headed up here for the view. Upon reading the requirements - I thought hold on there is a lot of those? Then I thought what a fun idea - like it. I volunteered to walk back down while the others took the car. Luckily it was a nice day. we had just enough time left, and we had already done the up Answers have been sent. Stunning view and FAV for the stunning view and novel requirements. TFTC.
Waiting for our ferry after a weekend away at the Hokitika Wild Food Festival with Itchyfeet2020 and Mr Magoo. A lovely vantage spot for a spot of sight seeing.
(# 7604) Day 5 and our last of the West Coast trip primarily to go to the Wild Food Festival in Hokitika. Today we are in Picton awaiting the time to board the ferry back home. Itchyfeet2020 volunteered to walk back down the hill while I drove the car back down to greet her at the bottom. A lovely view from the lookout. Thanks for bringing me here.
#12,587. I visited Picton back in January and came to visit the lookout and count the bridges and rocks. I messaged the answers to the CO on 26 January. Just realised today I had not got around to completing the finds on the two virtual caches in Picton after I got back from the South Island holiday. It was a lovely hot summers days when I was in the small coastal town. Thanks Raisinpig for setting up your virtual cache here.
I was on a cruise around New Zealand on the Noordam with my sister, Piney Wood Walkers, my brother, Cloiud9Hikers and their spouses. We were in Picton for the day with nothing to do but explore the city by caching. My favorite kind of shore excursion. Greetings from Minnesota MN.
Hiked to the top and counted on my way back down. I wrote my numbers as I walked on something. Now that I'm home logging I couldn't remember were I wrote it. Checked my little notebook and didn't see my counts. Looked through everything else and looked though my little notebook again. Finally figured out what I had done. R is for rock and B is for bridge. I need to come up with a more detailed description when I need to take notes in the future. Thanks for bringing me all the way up there.

Came up here to enjoy the view as our ferry was delayed in leaving and we had some spare time. 2 cruise ships in today and lots of people in town sheltering from the rain. One of us walked down while the other drove down and picked up at the bottom. Answers sent to CO and pic attached. Thanks for this virtual placement.
Meri Kirihimete!
In the afternoon after swimming in the sea it was still incredibly hot, but I still walked the kilometer to the viewpoint. Nice view over Picton and down at the ferries!

It was raining quite a bit, so I drove up to the top and took the picture. Then I had to drive down and back up to collect the information. TFTvC.
Great view from here! Cold day today in Picton but I enjoyed my little stroll. My ferry is slightly delayed so I had some time before sailing.
Visited while doing campervan relocation from Christchurch to Auckland.
Thanks for setting it up.

We checked with the roading people at the bottom that track access was still OK which it was although they were saying that the bike tracks at the top were demolished. We wandered up as we were in no rush as our ferry had been delayed an hour. Counted on the way up and reconfirmed on the way down. Answers sent to the CO.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Oops, I thought I'd been keeping up with my logging but I missed this one. We were almost ready to head for Picton and the ferry when we were notified that the ferry would be three plus hours late leaving. Although we delayed our trip a little and took our time getting here, we still had time to spare before boarding the ferry. So we came here, enjoyed the view, took a walk and did some counting. Thanks for setting up your virtual here, what a great idea .
Walked up the hill counting on the way. Already loading the ferry by the time I got to the top. TFTC
I have walked and driven up here numerous times but since my last visit I noticed a virtual...yes so up I go again never get sick of the views from here really great...but I did loose count of the rocks...at one stage soon sorted...thanks for setting this virtual...in a great spot worthy of such a cache
We are filling in time in Picton today. We walked most of the way up here last year. This time we drove! The views are pretty awesome. Another beautiful day today. Thanks for bringing us here Raisinpig
Passing through on the way to the Picton Ferry after spending a few weeks wandering around the South Island. Thanks for hiding Raisinpig. Answers to come.
A very belated logging of a virtual - I had forgotten that I had sent the answers through months ago!
Revisited as part of a family holiday - persuaded them to stop as we were heading over to Nelson. Mum was happy to pause and take photos as well. What a great use for a virtual!

of course when i chose to do this cache i was running late for checkin at the ferry so drove up to GZ and then read the requirements!!! So it was back down the hill counting the bridges then a u turn to start counting the boulders on the way up.
I have been up here many times and in many weather conditions. Today was spectacular to say the least. TFTVC

I have been meaning to grab this cache everytime I pass through Picton, but somehow never have. With a couple of days in town before we sail home it was the perfect time to get this sorted. A cloudy, but very muggy, day made for a sweaty bike ride to the lookout but it was worthwhile just to watch the local tui feeding on the flowering flax bushes. TFTC up here
I have emailed my answers. Great views from here and I walked up the track. Ended up chatting to someone who is into taking wildlife photos
Since my original plan of being in Auckland this long weekend is not possible, I decided to head South for a couple of days. Took the ferry from Wellington yesterday morning, picked up a cheap rental, and off I went. I was targeting some specific caches for a personal goal as well as some fun mystery solves and some just 'cos. This was one of them.
Answers sent and got the 'all good' from the CO. Great views all 'round from up here

I've not been to Picton for many many years and with about 30min to spare I just had to visit this virtual tonight. It was real cold!
I was surprised to see Picton so quiet at 7pm so we had this location and the streets to ourselves. A bit of counting towards GZ and an attempt to get a photo with my GPS (with flat batteries) and the Straitsman in the background. Job done! Thanks Raisinpig. I'll come back in the daylight sometime.
Logging with permission.

There is a challenge in Auckland that we are chugging away at, so each time we head out of town to find a few caches that challenge kind of dictates which caches we try to find.
This was one of our target caches for today, it will help us qualify for the challenge in Auckland.
We were well on our way to gz when I read the cache page, so a u turn and back to the bottom of the hill so I could do some counting while gk did some driving. Must say there were a lot more than what we had expected.
The views at the lookout were still lovely even though the weather was less than average. There were a few people who stopped for a quick look while we sat here and had a cuppa. GK got out and braved the weather so I could take a photo, we watched a barge come in and a couple of smaller boats, but no ferries to be seen while we were there.

Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley.

Down here to visit MapleroseNZ in her new abode instead of our usual catch ups in Turangi/Taupo, and escaping her family for the day she brought me up to Picton collecting caches on the way. I wanted to get a virtual and when I described it to her it was the same spot she was going to bring me to.
The view was amazing even on a grey day (yesterday would have been better), and what better reason to fly back down and visit her again later in the year.
Luckily there was nobody behind her on the way back down the hill where I counted bridges on one hand and rocks out loud.

Z12 & Mum had a pleasant wee stroll downhill counting rocks and skipping over bridges.

Out and about, mainly keeping out of trouble, with FlossyTeaCake. Bit nippy today but still lovely view. TFTC
In the South Island from Tauranga on a six week holiday and now following the PWGT. I hope to have the tour completed before I get home. Today is a day in Picton to gather a few extra smileys.
I biked up here and counted on way back down. A stunning day with a stunning view. Answers sent.
I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these caches. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers.

A good view of the port -could see where we had been earlier on the other ridge across the harbour/town. The leragextrucks being driven into the ferry look so small. Lots of counting on the way down. TFTVC.
The holidays are here and another tour begins: ‘The Very Top of the South Tour’. With GraciesGPSFun at the moment before NosyNel and Jude_E join us in Nelson on Monday.

We came on up here after collecting the final for the local Adventure Lab. We took our photo and one of us walked down the track counting as they went. Time will tell how good the counting was. Numbers have been sent to the CO and photo will be uploaded when we have better internet. TFTC.
Heading to Blenheim for the weekend. Taking the scenic route. We were here around midday and the ferry traffic was just starting to pick up. Good weather to soak up the view. Got the required answers and sent them to the CO.

Gorgeous afternoon in Picton today - stunning views which unfortunately my photo doesn't highlight. Great idea for a placement and congratulations for being awarded this special icon. Answers sent - fingers crossed with my counting skills. TFTVC # 16,643
Answers sent. Photo attached. I didn’t walk up and answered the questions on my way back down from here. Very busy here today.
Doing a road trip as I have to wait for my villa to be refurbished. What better way than doing a road trip geocaching. Thanks for placing and maintaining.

Visited with Tregearp whilst on our way to Christchurch to see family. I've been past this spot many times with most of my holidays during childhood and early adulthood spent in the Sounds. A great spot, thanks Rasinpig for placing a Virtual here.
Heading down south for a view days so it was an early start to get over the hill, stunning day and a good leg stretch up and down the hill to get the necessary information. Answers sent through to CO. Thanks Raisinpig for the cache, had an interesting discussion with a local at the lookout, he thought I was there in some official capacity as I was taking so much interest of the foot paths and bolders and writing notes on a paper. He suggested to me that I should be picking up the little more frequently and spraying the gorse so the native planting can survive. I may pop back for a CITO in March and take him up on the suggestion but not today as heading south.
This cache was found on a bike ride. It was found with my wife on our way to Picton on day three of our eight day holiday in Marlborough. My wife sent the answers in to the CO and he accepted them.
We biked up to this point and a wee bit beyond this morning. It was a very pleasant bike ride with great views. I emailed the answers for JDScout and myself once I completed the tally of bridges and holders that were made on the way down the hill.
JDScout and I are spending a week in Picton. We have spent this week exploring Marlborough and finding a few geocaches. Thanks Raisinpig for creating this hide. It was find 9472 for me.
======== NZ Mega 2021 ========
Planning for the NZ Mega 2021 event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, October 2021

Nice walk up to the view - it started with a drizzle, continued as full blown rain, then eased again. Good views from up here, I do not think I have stopped here before! TFTC!!
Visited this one with our granddaughters who live here. We were dropped off at the top and the girls enjoyed the counting on the way back down to our car. Great to have this Virtual here in Picton, thanks Raisinpig. Answers sent.

Drove up to the lookout before checking in for our Ferry back home. We got our count slightly wrong. But the CO has said we're good to go ahead and log it. Thanks for that. A pleasant view as always for the lookout today. TFTC
