Pretty much a 24hr run down mainly around Yass with The Rats- nice weather and daylight savings.TFTC!
Out for a 24hr caching run with steeba. We spent much of our time caching around the Yass area in an attempt to grab some numbers. Thanks to all the COs for your hides.TFTC
Found this onnour Canberra trip back in April but forgot to log. Only notice as we prepared our challenge cache logs. Please accept our late log. Tftc.
Today was the day I was aiming to achieve three things 1000 caches in 2024, 7000 caches all up and 200 caches in a day (my previous record was 121). Easily achieved all three in 13 hours between 06:00 and 19:00. Was a glorious spring day on the back roads around Yass. Most logs signed TE5 30/9 to save time.Passed a group of hikers doing the Hume and Hovell Track (i.e. the road) on to this one - no cars yet. Pulled up and circled a bit but cache was soon in hand - assume this is a replacement.TFTC Pacmania
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Staying a week or so in Yass, today we headed out mid morning. Fantastic weather today. We loved seeing Burrinjuck Dam, we even had a picnic lunch there. To get there we had to move through a herd of cows being moved along the road. A tribe of goats jumped across in front of us, then a lyrebird crossed the road in front of us too. There were quite a few caches we did not attempt today, if it was a challenge that we don't qualify for we did not stop to sign the log, and there were a few high terrain caches that we were unable to attempt. All in all a successful day out, with only 2 DNF We did replace 2 broken containers along the way.TFTC Pacmania
Over in the area heading for Canberra to attend the Easter Mega with tmann421Tons of caches done while here and this was one of them.Enjoyed the touring around and all the containers foundLog signed tm/ww NZThanks for the placement and the effort put into maintaining these hides for us to find.
In the area with woolwood9 today. Wasn't really expecting much rain as the area looked really dry - sure the farmers were pleased to get it.However for us it caused a lot of frustration with rain off and on for the next 4 days.*We managed to get the container found here!* SL *tm/ww NZ*
In Canberra for the GeoBash Mega, our WA group had planned to tackle this area north. Out and about for a full day of fun and laughter we certainly took the opportunity to have fun and conduct plenty of photoshoots along the way.Logs signed as WA. Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. We have commenced our raid on Yass. All logs have been signed as WA to save space, abbreviation for our team of cachers from Western Australia, who are cleaning up the series together. Cheers Pacmania! Join us in Augusta, in Western Australias South West, for WA Goes Big 2024 (GCAGV8Y) on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September. Log your will attend now!

The Cockburn Crew are on tour at the Capital Geobash in Canberra - travelling from Perth to Sydney, Canberra, Sydney and finally back to Perth.Today was day 3 and we had an absolute blast, after an earlier night last night we got up early to head to Yass and the surrounding areas to cleanup a bunch of caches inparticular whereigos and our personal favourite the challenge caches. We stopped in Yass and completed some high quality caches before venturing back to the trails. We completed a huge number of trails, challenges, whereigos, traditional, multis, earthcaches, labs, virtuals and puzzles. It really was a great day for variety. We enjoyed caching in territory we havent been before. Weve filled our boots with some rare DTs and DTTs and generally had a great time. Thanks to the COs for a great day and event. Logs signed as part of team WA/WAC (WA Crew)
For day number five attending the Canberra mega, I headed off with the WA5 (I C Nothing, meme28, geotrakka, burns345 & myself) as well as some other West Aussies (Barnzy12, Lachlan1.77 & neva2old) for a full day off caching in NSW around Yass and the surrounds.Along with the many caches we found we also signed off on a heap of challenges that I will see if I qualify for in the future. The day finished off by heading along to event HQ to join in the evening festivities.Logs today were signed WA.Thanks Pacmania for placing GBR Swifts for me and others to find.I added my name to the log on 31/3/2024.This is find number 8729 for me.

TFTC Big day trip up to Yass with chamad and Ardom to fill up D/T grids and such...
What a huge day was planned for today. I hooked up with Bluewattle to drive to Yass and around the areas to collect letterboxes and challenge caches. This was just before we were to meet up with Ardom to continue our caching travels for the day.First off was the letterboxes of the area (sausages) and a drive around a farm property collecting a few more which was super fun. It was then back on the road to our meeting point for a tree climb and meet up. the tree climb was a tuff one for me.We then worked out where we were going and how we would get all these in a day. It was an awesome day and I was super surprised at how fast we were going along. I guess it helps when the caches are there and in good condition. It was a super day and the CO's should be super happy with their caches in this area. Thanks for the fun we had today. All logs were signed and caches replaced as found.
WoW - thats an interesting historical spot.So much untold history around this amazing country. Its great to be able to follow these roads less traveled to come across such interesting sites as this one. Thanks for the history and the geocache.TFTC
Afternoon out in Yass area. Got about 50 caches. Signed and replaced. Thanks for the caches to find in the area.
Another stop for us as we make our way to the Burrinjuck Dam. The grass here was head high in parts, but we found a way in, using our walking calls ahead of us to make plenty of noise in case of Thanks Pacmania Domsky

Hatched a plan with Rapidlywild to head out to north Yass to attack a couple of trails while the other half of our team was hiking up some crazy hills. We took today slow and steady and found all caches we attempted.
While doing the trail nearby here we called past this one as well. Placed a new log into this one as the other log was mush and unable to sign.
Thanks for the trail hide Pacmania and thanks for a fun day out in the country side Rapidlywild.

With FFLL#2 heading off for a hike today, FFLL#1 and I decided to go get some challenges and some cruiser stuff. We wanted a nice easy day today with the expected heat so we chose a couple small trails to do and just took our time wandering the back roads. We had a good day today, unfortunately a lot of the caches we found today are in desperate need of CO attention as heaps were complete mush and covered in black mould. We had a successful day all in all, we did replace one cache with the CO's permission after an extensive search resulted in no find and there were prior DNF's. We also placed a few temp small logs until the CO can replace the containers and logs.
Thanks for the fun day out FFLL#1, love the mini adventures we go on and thanks to the CO's for the cache placements for us to find.

An early 5.45am start for an 8.00am rendezvous at the Burrinjuck Dam boat ramp for a day's caching in and around Burrinjuck. Arrived right on time, a little trouble making way through the boomgate, but all good in the end. Unpacked our yaks, a most convenient parking spot right at the water's edge. Interesting to see how SA and SC's portables would go, damfangled origami. Most presently surprised in the end how well they actually performed.
Paddling in perfect conditions across to Cave Island, the hardest thing was making land. 'Caveisland Cache' (GCA2QAD) quickly found and signed, and after a little exploration we continued onwards across the way to our next destination.
A number of motor boars/skiers zooming about now, but super impressed with their behaviour and willingness to give us a wiiiiiiiiide birth.
Made good time, the sun warming up the day, and the pleasant conversation continuing. Before we knew it we reached the dam edge and were climbing up the short rocky slope. Quickly found the right area and 'The Magazine' (GCA2MJN), the log also promptly signed and replaced. Investigated within the man made cave, almost dying of indigestion. Damn delicious peanut butter sandwich, ate it way too quickly.
Back into the yaks and the 2.5km or so paddle back to our starting point. Took about 2 hours return for the journey, a fantastic trip with good friends. Once back we packed up our gear and made plans to continue on to the remainder of caches in the area. Paid our entry fees for the day ($15.00) off we went.
Skirted the dam edge, picking up caches here and there. None presented any issues, the scenery colourful with blooming trees, bushes and algae. One cache was discovered on private land, a quick, pleasant chat with the land owner had us remove the cache at their request. Once we had reached the dam gates, unfortunately you could go no further, a real shame as the views would have been awesome.
Goodbyes were now offered as the return trip was to be taken individually, a good number of challenge caches no doubt the task ahead (it was for me), mixed in with a few others types inbetween. Continued back to the highway, a quick detour on the way. A disappointment at 'Challenge Cache Series - Elevation' (GC8ZQDE), not for the first time, my TOTT just not high enough. Hopefully one day third time lucky.
One or two more on an extremely busy end of holiday highway before Yass, the final cache 'AHH #9' (GC9Z94N) interrupted with a quick sighting of a healthy back snake just inside the long grass edge. It bolted off somewhere and I moved on another 25 metres or so, before then continuing into the long grass. No more reptile interactions were had, and the cache was eventually found 16 metres out.
Back home around 5.30pm, unloaded the gear and had a well deserved icy cold beer!
A fantastic day overall, most enjoyed my first time to Burrinjuck. Thanks of course to mountainsbeyond, StarsAlign and SocialCacher for making the day the day it was.

After kayaking on Lake Burrinjuck early morning we picked up the local caches, and a handful of road caches on our way back out towards Yass. Love the history. TFTC Pacmania.
Great to find this on the way back from a fantastic morning paddling on Lake Burrinjuck. Thanks, Pacmania!
A big cache day after all the flooding and wind storms. Managed to get to the end of Black Range Road where the creek was still flooded and then backtracked all the way around to finally get to Lake Burrinjuck. I found all but two caches which were too high for my TOTT.
There is still lots of water, long grass, fallen trees, eroded roads and many other obstacles. My poor ladder had a big workout and so did I. I was a great day. TFTCs. Most appreciated.

#19558. Robmc and I decided to have a couple of days away and we decided the Jugiong area might be the place to go. Unfortunately with so much rain in the area recently it meant that both the land and nearly all of the caches were wet and in need of maintenance checkups.
Interesting cache page telling about Swifts. Rob discovered this one whilst I walked the doggies along the road.

Off for a couple of days caching with BettyBoo3747 and the geo-doggies.
Out through Gundagai and onto Jugiong.
A lovely sunny day today but we could see where there had been heaps of rain in the area.
This meant that a lot of the caches were full of water and could do with some TLC.
Once the track have gone and someone pinches the building supplies, there is not a lot to find.
Thanks for this history.

Our last day in Yass before moving on so we will be leaving plenty of unfound caches for future visits.
We decided to head down the trail to Lake Burrinjuck, where there are lots of Challenge caches, Birds of Australia, Flags of the World and Frogs of the World mixed in with a few traditionals and a multi.
As usual, we had to bypass a few high Ts which were beyond our capabilities even though in most occasions we could see them! We can see the smile on Sui's face now!
Lake Burrinjuck was a pleasant surprise so we spent some time exploring.
As we log we will find out what Challenges we qualify for, hopefully most and the rest in the future.
Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Pacmania.

After a roadside camp not far from Temora, I took a winding route back home to pick up some more caches out this way, and then some of the new animals between Binalong and Yass. Decided to give myself a mental health day and head out with SpecimenX to grab a few caches west of Yass, the challenge series being the main target. There was so much we had on today, but the allure of a few ftfs and the chance to pick up a few caches to add to our souvenir total before other commitments was a pretty good reason to get up and out early this morning.
The morning was bright and sunny and although a chill was in the air, it wasn’t long before the sun warmed us up.

I've always liked challenge caches, its good to have something to work towards and a direction in this caching game of ours. So with dty73 and Tankengine we set of early one morning for a short trail of challenges, with the bonus of perhaps a few new ones as well. Just a short outing as family commitments had us wanting to be home before lunch but a lovely relaxed morning in the very scenic countryside of this area. Thanks for the cache Pacmania!
A bonus cache as we passed, certainly nice to stop for any cache along the trail. Nice hiding spot here, blends in well.

Found this previously, forgot to log.
What an adventure. Found it, and had a great time.
Thanks

Found on a trip to Yass with The Drovers.
A perfect summer day for a trip along the new trails and a few GBR's too.
Mainly quiet roads and only a few muggles in some sections.
Cache condition is good/OK here.
Thanks for the cache and the series Pacmania,

Caching in the area with Roostaman, enjoying the lovely countryside.
Did this cache, after completing the nearby challenge caches.
Many thanks for placing this cache, Pacmania, for us and others to find.

Long grass long hunt. No Candy. Rats. Hopefully next time!
GLISS! was itching to grab some earth caches, I needed an oldie for my Jasmer and we were both in the mood of a country drive, so headed out to clean up this trail a little. Such a lovely (and highly successful) adventure! Thanks for the cache.

Places to cache in the ACT were limited due to the total fire ban, so I decided to do a road trip to the Ettamogah Pub and back. On the way home I took a side trip to the dam and back. A quick find here. TFTC.

19,223. Found during a country meander this afternoon with minniek.
After a fun loop around Galong grabbing a nice number of new caches, we still had time for more. We decided to visit this interesting series - another little railway I'd never heard of (I really enjoy railway themed caches). Quick find at GZ. Signed the log, returned the cache, and we headed off to the next one.
Thanks Pacmania !!

Fitzy_1965 and I decided to go for a 'short' drive in the country today.....380km's later we were home with around 20 caches each.
All caches were found quickly and easily. I've never been down to the dam before so found it a fascinating series and wonderful scenery along the way.

A caching trip with Marmaduke Rothschild out along the Hume Highway to Burrinjuck Dam. A cache in Yass and a couple of Aussie Animals. 27 caches for me. TFTC.

I'd seen these caches come out, but was in no position to collect them at the time. So I decided to leave them for a rainy day! Today was the day! Not only was it rainy, but also, this series of caches down to Burrinjuck contained fingerprints, footprints and shadows I required for my Mystery at the Museum: Evidence collected souvenir! There weren't any caches in Canberra I could readily get, so I came on a mini roadtrip today. I managed to score the souvenir and also a couple of gems thrown in! Also the history highlighted by this series of caches was very interesting! Thanks for the cache Pacmania!
Thanks for the cache and the history lesson never knew there was a railway line into the dam wall SL Cheers
This was a nice quick pick-up, but unfortunately disturbed the birds roosting in the tree overhead.
TFTC and the series, Pacmania!

Yabba Dabba Doo *FTF* at 1:30pm ! .
A great trip, everything went very smoothly and discovered some cool places and roads I have never traveled before. I am very glad I went for the hunt, as normally I wouldn't necessarily go as far for a FTF. Today a few facts made this an easy choice though, plans for the day had just fall through; I was already sad not being able to be at the coast with everyone so this was good caching therapy; it was a whole nicely themed trail (by a well known cacher no less); and I had no FTFs yet this month but will travel soon. So didn't think twice and went. The weather was not great, got wet at most stops but not too bad either, never heavy rain and with sun at the very end of the drive.
The series took me to some interesting places, often there is very little left to see of the old tracks, so the picture in the listing and the history are very much appropriated! A winding, sometimes narrow road took me all the way to the dam, with nice views of the water and hills around with misty clouds surrounding their tops today. A bit like a ride back into time with the settlement at the end of the road and an very empty road today.

This cache was hiding very well today in the wet, I had search all around and even lifted up the entire stump before I eventually touched the secret cover. And some stage I was wondering were the railway should have been other than were we are driving. Very cool that we are from here on driving on top of the old railway.
Thank you Pacmania for putting the cache out and maintaining it.
