Yes red herrings everywhere. I spent some time here checking out several posts. Found 4 Red herrings in rusted mint tins but co cache. Bummer..

Day 9, Thursday 27 January - Its Waitangi, Russel via ferry then cruising the back roads to Taupiri Bay and back to KeriKeri. So you ready Lenny?? Lets go!

30-Oct-21
With time rapidly running out in the month to achieve the Mt Elbrus souvenir and no chance of the planned trip to Auckland for the now postponed Mega, an alternative plan was hatched to round up the few remaining unfound ones on the back road route to Russell.

After a little side detour down to Bland Bay, it was back on the road north and a stop off at this one. Like most cachers before me I soon located quite a few red herrings, but the actual cache eluded me. I did find what I considered to be the most likely spot for it, but a thorough search there yielded nothing. Talking to previous finders at the CITO the next day confirmed I was looking in the right spot, so unless I am totally blind, I think this one may be MIA unfortunately.

Thx anyway for bringing me to a new spot I have never visited.

Now this deserves a fav point, we found 4 red herons lol the red herons containers lids are really difficult to open due to corrosion though so may be worth replacing next driving through. Awesome little hidden spot we wouldn't normally stop. Our toddler had fun helping us hunt to. Just camping puriri Bay and making a trip to Russell

Managed to get only one red herring before the cache was in hand. The idea behind this cache is just brilliant so it gets a fav point. Went for a road trip since there is a souvenir available today. TFTC.
