Found on a five day geocaching road trip to the Nelson, Buller, and West Coast regions. We traveled many kms, by car bike and by foot and found many great caches and explored many areas. Thanks to the various CO for the caches sites we visited that made our trip so great. Thank for the caches.
On a Week road trip to Nelson,Buller and Greymouth. lots of driving and walking, plus biking, lots of great caches many thank to all the CO"s - Bitsprayer
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are currently parked up at the NZMCA Campsite at Westport … we decided to do the Ad Lad at Denniston, along with the ‘DoC Kiwi Guardian’, and as it was a nice day, we thought we would have a really good look around & nab some caches … this cache was easily found, log completed & replaced … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #4,073 for us.
Making the most of the long weekend with a few day trips, this is day 3 the denniston plateau.
Spending a lot of time up here recently for work and have knocked off a couple of caches all ready but needed more time to get them all...
Thought I'd do the top walk first ,parked at the bathhouse and went anticlockwise..
Managed to get this without poking my eye out..tftc

I did not understand the hint, so I just fell back on good old fashioned hunting. TFTC.
Another walk that doesn't get much use. A beautiful day with some great sights. This was a nice easy find. Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for this cache, hazedarus. Good to be back on the Denniston Plateau - my last visit was nearly 10 years ago, at which time we were lucky enough to go into the mine as part of an organised tour - sadly that is no longer possible.
Evidence of the recent weather bombs with track closure (& Conn’s Creek Rd at the bottom of the hill) which limited my caching today - I shall have to return.

Catching up with logging caches from our trip last month. Fascinating area, lots to learn about and explore. For some reason this one took us a while to find. TFTC
A nice quick find thanks. Muggled by a weka! Put a write in the rain sheet into the cache.
Ms_KR and I are on the west coast, hopefully to complete the PWGT GeoTour this weekend, with only 2 to go. Another glorious day today, fine weather for most of the caching time. Up to Denniston was definately a highlight, with good views and no wind.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Caching with Sidewaze. Apologies for the late log - working at catching up. I enjoyed finding your cache. TFTC
Continuing our loop walk in rather inclement weather. This log and the previous one have become a little fragile and powdery. Unfortunately we didn't bring any replacement logs with us. TFTC .
Had a wee wander down this track for a nice quick find after visitng the bath house. Great to have some more caches in this fascinating place thanks hazedarus. TFTC # 16,677
This was a bike and grab for us. The biking got a bit tricky in the end, so we carried on by foot, but it was all a great adventure. Trying to imagine where the town was. Cache is all good. TFTC
We are visiting from Christchurch and top of the list of places we wanted to visit was Denniston. We visited the museum and then did this Denniston Town Walk which wasn't so straightforward as it is not signposted. But very interesting and worthwhile doing! TFTC, great series!
Found with NZDi. Today is the fifth day of our Wet Coast adventure and today is supposed to be the best the weather of our trip. So the plan is to do some caching on the Denniston Plateau and tak in some local history.
This was our seventh find of the day on what turned out to be quite a boggy track. It has been quite a while since I have come across that hint but I remembered what it meant and it was a quick easy find once we started looking on the right (if you are going in an anti-clockwise direction) side of the track.

A detour on our way to Westport this afternoon caching the Denniston plateau once more.
A short walk and grab.

*Thanks for putting out this cache for woolwood9 and I to find!*
SL **tm/ww NZ** (may just be a black smudge on the many wet or plastic logs)
Weather was quite bad again with several heavy showers of rain
*We soon had another good cache located. After the disappointment with the Virtual cache these caches were a great way to see the history of the area. Weather was much better with only light drizzle!*

Nice to be away on another geocaching trip with tmann421, travelling to a few places in the upper South Island.

A walk down the main street, and we made up some stories with each chimney we saw, With Baird, tftc
TFTC. Nice easy find. We enjoyed learning about the history here. Out on a caching day with Boyd.
After a trudge down and then back up the bridal track this morning it was time to get the caches around town after lunch before heading home. I could see this one from the track, the outer container had water in it but the inner one and log where fine replaced the inner one upside down and then the same with the outer one so hopefully any water that does get in wont reach the inside. Rehid a little better as well. Thanks for placing hazedarus

Up and at it early this morning as we wanted to find four caches today before we headed for home. As the number of our unfound caches in Westport is less than four we looked further afield, so here we are up in the Denniston area again, not that either of us mind that as it is one of our favourite areas on the coast.
Luckily we had our gumboots with us as the ground was quite sodden from the recent rain. We love seeing and reading about history in the area and trying to imagine just what life would have been like for the hardy souls who lived and worked in this area.
Thanks for placing these caches and thank you for the smiley. Our last cache for today, now to head for home.

Found it although my directions were deceptive. Lucky judithrichards were better. Great to be part of a team
Found with Tregearp whilst exploring the Denniston historic site and surrounding area. The information boards are a wealth of information and although we spent several hours around the area we felt as if we'd only scratched the surface. All in good order with the cache - signed the log book and replaced as found. Thanks hazedarus for the cache.
Tackling the virtual in the area so while wandering with SJT_NZ to one of the waypoints I checked for a few traditionals, a quick find, thanks hazedarus for the cache all in good order.

***Late logging after busy last 2 weeks!! Date is accurate***
First find on my loop walk and a Q E F here.
Sunday was return home day, but after a leisurely breakfast in Westport to allow the inevitable top of the plateau fog to clear (yes, it was there, but diminished) we headed to the lower incline to get some important Virtula information, then up top for the 4 ' new ' caches which have appeared since last time I called by. In the end I parked near one end of the track and as the grass was wet, and fog hanging low I left mrs in the car and did the loop. A nice little walk it was too and a nice journey around the remnants of the old town, nice on hazedarus.
With a free weekend at our disposal we decided to head over to the upper West Coast to have a crack at a few of the easier walking tracks before we move North later in the year. In the end I put in for the Friday off as well and headed across the Buller Gorge etc early on Friday morning. We had almost 3 full days over this way and whilst we didn't find loads of caches, we saw plenty if interesting things and had some awesome weather to boot.
Friday was travel and then a trip out and back across Cape Foulwind walkway. We followed that up by a jaunt up to the Tauranga Bay high point before checking into digs and a meal out. Saturrday we headed to the caves at Oparara arches and nearby highlights and then a slow drive back through the Gorge on Sunday after heading up to Dennsiton Plateau.

We had done some great walks around the Fan House and beyond earlier and were on our way back to town (Westport), but I wanted to stop and grab these since we were up here. Who knows when we'll get back here. Easily found. TFTC.
Came up to the plateau for a look and to find some caches - it is so interesting that we spent much longer up here than originally planned. This one was most a park and grab. TFTC
Out and about in Denniston signing off a few Traditional caches.
This one was well hidden and I couldn't make sense out of the hint.
Cheers for the cache.

Cheers for the cache.
Glad I had the jacket on! I'd have loved to seen the rope road in operation, photos will have to do. Cheers
I love the little piece of green hosepipe. I've used identical pieces to actually make caches in both Britain and France! I fix fake plastic ivy to the hosepipe, glue a plastic specimen tube in the pipe, and hang it in a tree.
As we continued on this mini-circuit this was soon located and signed. All dry and well sealed! TFTC
The last major stop of the day was Denniston. I had expected to see more old buildings here, but still it was a very impressive and interesting place. It is good to see that this history is being preserved (at least to some degree) and lots of information is provided.
The cache was found and the logbook signed. Thanks for hiding!

(# 5418). Today is day 8 of my West Coast trip. Today I am traveling around Westport and also looking around Denniston up on the big hill. A quick find. Everything in order. TFTC
Its magical Denniston this morning to do the town walk and snag the virtual. Love this place but again we are on a mission so no extra time to sight see. Enjoyed this walk way with another quick snag and tag here. Cheers. Everything is very wet and rivlets running along the tracks. Stepped in the wrong place and nearly lost my gumboot. Very sucky land. Have to come back when the museum is open.
Its off on another geotour this weekend with The Seagnoid, Zara and Toby. We spent last Sunday in Nelson collecting the gemstones from the Museum Heist, so this weekend we are on a Geotour to the Westcoast with The Seagnoid, Zara and Toby, to return the gems. It was a wet trip down with light rain all the way. Finally getting to Westport after 9pm and parking up at Carters Beach for the night. Thankfully not much traffic along the way.

Apparently there was lots of rain here yesterday. None today, but Taybeedragon stepped in some gumboot remover. Not particularly effective though (laughing would have gone for a lot longer if it was!) Nice little loop walk.
Taybeedragon and I headed out to the West Coast to figure out how to return the jewels taken from that big heist at the Teague-Ulmer Museum back into their vault. And I picked the West Coast to do that as there is a cache nearby that gves me the last hidden month for a NZ Jasmer. And on top of all that, it is the 50 year anniversary of the first men on the moon - Happy Moon Landing Day! While the rest of the country was bathed in glorious rain, we were stuck with sunshine and clouds. Oh, well, can't have it all.

Family (In Laws plus Sister & Brother In Law plus their kids!) holiday on the West coast (Hokitika and Westport). Staying at Carters beach; after heavy rain yesterday today dawned clearish (well; not raining at least!) so we headed out and up here. We've been up here before but her family haven't. MrsTGs ancestors lived and worked up on Burnett's face so it was a chance for the family to see the area and visit the grave down in Waimangaroa. After a walk around, lunch and finding 'Mitchell's Corner' we had a wee squelchy walk around the track. Very wet but a quick find and sign. A lovely day. Cheers. Love the history up here and nice to be able to bring MrsTGs family up here to show them the family connections....Cheers.
FTF yay, I love coming to Denniston so I was excited to see some new coaches! TYFTC and happy caching!
