Since it was Earthcache weekend. Funny part I had to return a package back to work. I had GreenGecko1 and Muggle65 with me doing this Earthcache. Muggle65 sent the answer for us. I love learning on the information about all the different types of rocks there. bobandclaire thank you for placing and maintaining this cache for enjoyment of the caching community.
Earth Cache Day! Having a look to see what is around, I find this is my nearest earth cache and it is a 45 minute drive away. Along the way there are a few little caches I could collect to ease the pain of the drive. Truth be told I really dont mind going for drives and with the new bridge construction and road works along the way I was interested in seeing the progress. I arrived at the location and was surprised at all that was there. The memorial and numbers of miners killed in mining accidents was gut wrenching, I never knew there were so many, I was blown away and a new appreciation for this site has taken place. I spent a bit of time walking around and reading the plaques before going outside and seeing the rocks. I was coming here for an earth cache, but found a very moving monument, thank you. My next thought was why is it tucked away in some back area. I took my notes for the answers and a pic for the log and was back on my way. Thanks for bringing me here and will give it a favourite point.
Hopefully this photo is acceptable. Enjoyed the cool breeze n easy walk.Lots of good earth cache rock examples. TftcFP for so many rock types .. an unusual earth cache..
This cache is thoroughly recommended as a reference for any EarthCache you undertake thanks Bob&Claire.

Oh I am so tired that I can't write individual logs for today's cache finds. Please forgive the generic logs but be happy that your cache has contributed to my having all the Queensland LGAs except the Whitsundays and the Aboriginal areas. I cached by myself and cherry picked the caches along a route that would cover the two required LGAs. This part of Australia is just beautiful. TFTC TNLN SL either as Smittengranny or SG. Was checking a cache nearby for Imbunda so I decided to visit this Earthcache too. A very informative site - thankyou for bringing me here after driving past on the highway so many times. TFTC
I have a turbulent love hate relationship withEarth finds.. I love that it takes me to a new place but my brain often hurts to answer such easy questions .. This and a nearby cache have been haunting me since recommencing my caching journey.. after driving home from a day of work and a quick nearby cache.. I thought Id quickly grab this one to slowly fill up my local area.. Answers submitted.. Thanks so much!#773
Yet another cracking morning in South East Queensland. Heading out west today to pick up a few caches that have been on the radar for awhile and will help with a few challenge caches Im currently working on. Arrived at the suggested parking location and quickly made my way to ground zero. I soon had the cache in hand and extracted the log. Mark made and safely returned to its hiding place ready for the next cacher.A big thanks to the cache owner for making this cache available to be found by like minded individuals.Cheers
Very interesting information! TFTC. We never would have known about the monument if it werent for the cache. Answers submitted
In need of an earthcache for Earthcache Day, this one was the closest one to my home. I had also been saving it for an upcoming Earthcache Day so today was going to be the one. This place was very interesting, with the memorial and the geological rocks. I found it interesting to read about the Eidsvold Siltstone Quarry and the Biggenden Mines, both of which are close to my hometown of Gayndah. The answers have been sent to the CO. TFTC and for bringing me here!
I was heading to Main Range this morning for a head clearing walk to Bare Rock, and I remembered that there was a souvenir on offer for collecting an earth cache. This one was very conveniently located just off the motorway enroute and proved to be a pleasant surprise. I opted to walk around the memorial first, reflecting on how little our WHS practises and laws have progressed as I read the more recent names. After collecting the nearby traditional, I strolled through the rock display and collected the clues for this one. Well done. Thanks Bib and Claire. Almost surprised the local vandals haven't pinched the gemstone! Pete #7,463
Stopped by quickly this afternoon with bennyboppers for earthcache day. Nice memorial, answers noted and sent. Tftc
I was out this way to find a couple of caches with a particular attribute for a challenge and this one was nearby.
I really enjoyed seeing all of the rock types in one location so a fp.
The only downside was all of the rubbish from people who attended the carnival yesterday.

I have driven past on the highway so many times over the years and never realised this was here. We had a look at the memorial first and then wandered along learning about all the examples of stone. What a wonderful job theyve done here. Thanks bobandclaire
Out for the day with nikid1 in search of a particular attribute for a May challenge & the favourite points drew us to visit this earthcache & I'm so glad we did as I loved it! It's a beautiful memorial & a very informative area & a great place for an earthcache. Answers have been sent to the CO & I'm leaving a favourite point as well.

Out this way with KerriMG chasing some attributes for May.
Earth caches aren’t my favourite but boy this one is up there as one of the best.
The location is a beautiful memorial garden and this as an earth cache location is superb.
A definite FP.

Very interesting place. I’ve done a few Earth caches now and am starting to learn more about geology so it was really interesting to see physical examples of the different types of rocks. TFTC!
Mr CNQ was starting the long drive from Brisbane to Charters Towers and stopped at this convenient cache when starting to head west. Just off the highway and took photos of all the plaques for future reference! Thanks for a very informative earth cache bobandclaire. Answers sent in message centre a couple of days ago this should be our 100th earth cache!
During our recent stay in Ipswich we stopped at this awesome memorial! One of the best arranged mining memorial we came across. A fav point worth, as you could really compare and touch those different kinds of rocks.

Today, [@jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T), baby and I commenced the day with the [Cupcakes and coffee ️ ](https://coord.info/GC9ZZT5) Event at Anstead Bushland Reserve. I had visited this area before, but I thought the quarry was a great sight, so it was good to show this to [@jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T). After getting caught in a rain downpour, we made a coffee stop with morning tea, and then proceeded to take a walk targeting *The 7 Habits of Effective Geocachers* series. With our day's fitness behind us, we then headed home via the Moggill ferry and Queensland Miners Memorial at Redbank in order to celebrate EarthCache weekend.
It was this EarthCache that brought us here given the special weekend it was, and what a great spot to promote the geology here! I had initially admired the memorial and all the names, and hence didn't spot the path with the various geological types and descriptive plaques, so that was great! The EarthCache questions were a good test to the rocks here, and I thought I needed to make assumptions and inferences with Question 1 and Question 4, until walking further up along the path to find the relevant rock types. Thanks bobandclaire for the EarthCache placement and organisation. A Favourite Point from me!

Out to snag a smile for earthcache day. Parked here and had a pedal around the neighbourhood to find a few more.

Today we were picking up a few selected caches on our way by car from South Ripley to Brisbane Airport, and this was one that we targeted . It rained all the way.
A lovely memorial park and interesting rocks. A place for quiet reflection, and a great geology lesson.

Thank you for this very informative cache. I think we'll come back again when the kids are learning about rocks and their formation!
It was raining softly when we attended earlier today and it was nice to see the different appearances of the rocks when comparing the dry side to the wet side.

After being stuck at home for nearly a week because of the "Big Wet", we are out for another Friday Fun Day with Peppa, PirateLinda and TMZ59.
Making our way towards home, we have stopped for a few more caches and this Earthcache was on the way.
I have been to this location before. Many years ago after dropping off our 4WD at the mechanics at Riverview, we had stopped to grab the traditional cache here and admired the memorial and display of rocks and the information supplied which we didn't know was here.
We took lots of photos of everything and hubby had worked on creating an Earthcache at this location. Unfortunately the reviewer knocked back our application. Not long after an Earthcache popped up at this very location.
Was interesting revisiting this memorial again and working on the answers with the friends.

Another Friday of caching with PirateLinda, Patrol14 and TMZ59… we’re heading “West”… we have different ideas of “West”… todays it’s Ippy and surrounds…
Having finished with Ippy we’re heading home, but with time for just a few more…
This is the second Miners Memorial we’ve visited today…. The scale of this memorial, though in an unusual location, is remarkable… And the addition of the “Walk of Rocks” was quite the visual teaching aide…
Once again, I think our visit was topped off superbly with a reading of Woodyrothwell’s log…

What an unexpected find in such an odd place.
Soooo many miners over sooo many years. Glad to see them remembered in such a wonderful way.
As WoodyRothwell said in his log - fantastic representation of all the rocks with their plaques - will be very valuable for future Earth Caches

Out with Peppa, Pirate Linda, patrol14. Last cache for the day. Answers sent as a group. Thanks for the cache.
Visited this very impressive Earthcache which was both sad the see such a vast number of miners who had lost their lives while working in various mines and it is lovely to see that they are all remembered forever in such a beautiful setting and specimens from a lot of the mines that took these miners lives have been placed around the circle of plaques. Even though we have done over 100 EarthCaches, they are still one of the scariest cache types we have encountered. You would have thought we would have learnt a trick or two by now and could identify the difference between igneous rocks, sedentary rocks, pet rocks and 1980’s cock rock.
No matter how many times we are asked what rock type is better: Bon Jovi, Metallica or Bob Dylan (only joking - I know Bob Dylan is dead weight, not a dead rock. Sorry Bob Dylan fans but there is a reason your mirror cracks when you look into it), I am still confused unless texture and colour are a question. I’m colourblind so even the colour questions are scary.
We were apprehensive again as we started because I could feel another failed school exam coming on. However this is one of two EarthCaches we have given a favourite point to. Each rock has a label and suddenly geology seems like fun (until you are caught having to talk or wake up next to a geologist). We had seen all these rocks before but finally they made sense. We took photos of all the rocks and plaques for the next 100 EarthCaches. tftc

This was an emotional cache for me. I lived in Mount Isa, and have many friends from that great mining city. I became aware of this site on a Mt Isa FB page and knew I had to check it out. I search around the memorial for the name of a friend’s grandfather who never clocked off for the day. His death was not in vain as safety checks and procedures were put in across the state due to him not making it home at the end of the shift. A tasteful and informative memorial for all those who never retrieved their tag from the board. Thanks bobandclaire for an Earthcache here. FP granted
Was an amazing experience
Did not know this was here
Didn’t take long to do but stayed to look at the plaques and read the information

This is an amazing memorial and the specimens here, especially the Greenstone, are some of the best I have ever seen. I would love to add that chunk of opal to my collection.
Dropped by after dark to look for the nearby traditional and this Earth cache. I noted the area as a memorial when looking online, but was both surprised and pleased at the size and scale of place when visiting in person. The area was filled with many exemplar rocks which was personally exciting for me. I could see enough in the dark to hopefully answer the required questions, but would love to come back during the day to have a better look around.

Couldn't resist this. I'm visiting family in Brisbane, and I got here yesterday. I'm going out for a feed of prawns for everyone, and noticed this cache on my map. I love earthcaches, so I stopped for a look and a find, or two as it happened. It's a very moving display. My mother's family were involved in the early days of the Gympie gold fields, so that was particularly poignant.
Thanks for setting this one up. I've sent my answers.

With my usual geocaching playmates all otherwise occupied, I was heading out solo today to visit a few caches that I have had my eye on for a while but never seem to get around to finding, including this one.
This location is another one of those spots that I would never have known was here except for geocaching. After inspecting the various interesting samples of rocks along the pathway, I then headed over to the memorial for a walk around to read the name plaques and information signs. I was struck by the name of Mount Mulligan Colliery which kept appearing, and counted around 70 odd plaques. This was obviously a major disaster which I had never heard of before so went home to do some reading online. One hopes the list of names on the memorial does not grow any time soon. TFTC

What an interesting memorial. Great rock specimens on display too. Pity so many lives have been lost through accidents though.

Like Gunnie before me I visited this one some time ago but decided to keep it on hand for one of the special souvenir challenges. Absolutely love this spot both for the fantastic geological display and information and the memorial to so many who have lost their lives in the mining industry. A special GZ indeed. Information sent and a tick from the CO. Thanks for this amazing cache. A definite favourite from me.
Gunnie69 and I had been around this area last week, when he reminded me that its EC day today. So we left this one to make the find individually over this weekend. I had an errand to run at a local DIY store after work so made a detour here. What an impressive memorial. I had a wander around and learned a bit of local history too. TFT EC
