Quick drop by while on holidays to the rock Great to see a number of new caches around the island. TFTC!
#23187 @0900Day 8 of a 9 day trip: Drive from Canberra to Melbourne, then by air to Flinders Island, Launceston, King Island, and back to Melbourne, then drive back home to Canberra. For the King Island part of the trip, I joined Aquilus1 and sacada. This morning was rain free, but still windy. Much more pleasant for caching. Our focus was on the south and west of the island. A quick find here. TFTC.
Can see why there are so many shipwrecks on this coast on a day like today. A nice straightforward find here today. It's been quite a journey, just to get to King, yes, but the many years of trips and travel in the quest to find every cachable LGA in Australia. So, here we are, on King, our last, all found and now sacada, Tikva and myself are spending our time exploring the island and its caches. The weather hasn't shown its gentle side. Instead, we have had wild wet and windy weather. Apt perhaps, that this journey ends memorable, and gives us a little taste of the roaring 40s and bass straight life. A reminder of the islands history, often tragic, so a little wind and rain as we explored, quite mild in the scheme of so much hardship of the past. So, we carried on, as you can only do and found amusement and fun in the craziness of it all. The second day was much more pleasant, a light drizzle later on, and the wind still but compared to the previous day. Quite nice! Scenic, rugged, and wild coastlines, grassy lush fields, and cows lined up in rows to protect from the weather. Wallabies in numbers so high, just lining the roads, it makes you wonder how many there are we can't see. Wild peacocks, turkeys, and pheasants are often seen as well. With our caching complete early on the second day, a little fun. King island dairy for tastings and a little shopping! Very yummy and great prices, too. The KI brewery was next on our list where we had some tastings and a cheese platter to enjoy too.We finished the last day with an event, a celebration to reflect on being the first two to have all cachable LGAs completed, great to share this with milestone with sacada , and great TikvaNZ was there with us. Now the question is, what next? Thanks for your cache!
Off to Tasmania to get Flinders Island LGA and finally the last LGA for AU at King Island. TFTC.Today was less rain but much more wind. Great to experience those roaring forties, on repeat.Managed to finish all the caches on King Island. Nice. Now for some cheese, crackers, a drink or two and an event to celebrate.Nice quick find
I'm a glutten for punishment and also not satisfied with only one cache logged for the day. So after our day exploring round the north of the island on return to our accommodation I contemplated walking from there to this cache. Looked quite a long way. After discussion with the cleaner I was persuaded and set off. She had suggested the coastal walk and it was spectacular! It was a beautiful sunny day and with the rock formations and the sun reflecting off the water and waves it was wonderful. Then ..... I'm really interested in birds and rounding a bend there were thousands of Crested Terns roosting on the rock platforms, and so noisy. I also saw a couple of other small birds we don't get at home so all in all the walk was great. It was topped off by this cache find and finally a seat to sit and contemplate the view. A great cache to end my time on King Island, so well worth a favourite point.TFTC # 6339
Last find of my time on King Island.I had a look on my own the day before on a run down the Kelp Track but came up empty handed. This time around I had the geocoach with me and he showed how it's done. Thanks for the nice hide.
Last cache for jomingara and I. Can we call this a post golf cache as we played golf yesterday afternoon at the nearby establishment? Again thanks to those who maintain these caches so we have an opportunity to visit! The cache is definitely in play and the clue makes sense
Checked this one out yesterday and decided to buy some small containers to replaced the missing cache, stamped log and replaced. Thanks to CO
TFTC,
We took it upon ourselves to purchase a few containers at the IGA and using write in the wet paper we brought with us, replaced a couple of missing caches.
Enjoyed our return visit and visited trackables.

Obvious little Heidi hole at the base of the seat, but nothing there. Nothing else where does look like it’s gone.
The wife and I came to King Island for our 15 year wedding anniversary. Caching was just the ticket to see what the island has to offer. A beautiful spot. TFTC.
Very close to the accomodation yet one of the last ones we picked up in our stay on King Island.
From the lighthouse we took a drive along the Track and soon found ourselves close to GZ.
Took a seat and enjoyed the view then found the cache. After signing the log we then wandered to the water to explore around the rocks. Good fun.
Cache contents were dry and in good condition.
Thanks for this cache. It’s a lovely location!

Found tonight after having dinner and decided to go for a drive along Kelp Rd. Cache in ok condition.Emptied water from in the container. Log damp. Still able to sign. TFTC
Easy find thanks to very good hint.
Cache looks in good condition but it must have a leak because saturated inside.
However log is fine (safe in a plastic bag).
Tried to dry cache as best I could, plenty of sun & wind to help. TFTC

The sea was pounding in from the west this morning making this spot a spectacular location to visit. Accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find. However, because the container had not been closed properly and the plastic bad with the logbook had not been sealed, the container was half full of water and the logbook quite wet. We emptied the contents, dried things as best we could and the wind did the rest. We were able to sign the log and return everything to the container. Thanks 7brightstars for the cache in a great location.
This one tricked us at first but declan felix & ange found it on a cold windy day
Found 20/2/20 14:59
