A great location to visit on this wild and windy day. It's been quite a journey, just to get to King, yes, but the many years of trips and travel in the quest to find every cachable LGA in Australia. So, here we are, on King, our last, all found and now sacada, TikvaNZ and myself are spending our time exploring the island and its caches. The weather hasn't shown its gentle side. Instead, we have had wild wet and windy weather. Apt perhaps, that this journey ends memorable, and gives us a little taste of the roaring 40s and bass straight life. A reminder of the islands history, often tragic, so a little wind and rain as we explored, quite mild in the scheme of so much hardship of the past. So, we carried on, as you can only do and found amusement and fun in the craziness of it all. The second day was much more pleasant, a light drizzle later on, and the wind still but compared to the previous day. Quite nice! Scenic, rugged, and wild coastlines, grassy lush fields, and cows lined up in rows to protect from the weather. Wallabies in numbers so high, just lining the roads, it makes you wonder how many there are we can't see. Wild peacocks, turkeys, and pheasants are often seen as well. With our caching complete early on the second day, a little fun. King island dairy for tastings and a little shopping! Very yummy and great prices, too. The KI brewery was next on our agenda, where we had some tastings and a cheese platter to enjoy too.We finished the last day with an event, a celebration to reflect on being the first two to have all cachable LGAs completed, great to share this with milestone with sacada , and great TikvaNZ was there with us. Now the question is, what next? Thanks for your cache!
Off to Tasmania to get Flinders Island LGA and finally the last LGA for AU at King Island. TFTC.Today was less rain but much more wind. Great to experience those roaring forties, on repeat.Managed to finish all the caches on King Island. Nice. Now for some cheese, crackers, a drink or two and an event to celebrate.Nice quick find on a very windy day.
#23196 @1335Day 8 of a 9 day trip: Drive from Canberra to Melbourne, then by air to Flinders Island, Launceston, King Island, and back to Melbourne, then drive back home to Canberra. For the King Island part of the trip, I joined Aquilus1 and sacada. This morning was rain free, but still windy. Much more pleasant for caching. Our focus was on the south and west of the island. Cache easily found. TFTC.
We got to the museum a few minutes before it opened, I remembered seeing this one so sauntered over to make the quick find. Lighthouse & museum are super cool!
This morning I was in Sydney, this afternoon I'm walking around Currie on beautiful King Island. Our tour group was given a good tour round Currie enlightening us on it's geography, history, nature and spectacular views, plenty to whet the appetite for our stay.Often it is difficult to escape from these tour groups but with a free afternoon I had the perfect opportunity. The GPS took quite a while to settle and initially I thought it might it wasn't going to work at all so I set off on the walk with just a paper map. Finally it decided to help me and I made my way round the oval and up towards the Currie Lighthouse, stopping for many photos. The cache was a quick find, but oh dear, the container definitely needs some love.I really enjoyed this location. A great spot to find my first Tasmanian cache.TFTC # 6333
After a beautiful day exploring and enjoying the sunshine, this was a great find! TNLN TFTC
We were lucky enough to tour the lighthouse! It was great to search around the buildings here too! We did notice the container is cracked and broken. TYFTC.
First time to Tasmania to play golf with raindoctor. As we have done in the past, we did some post golf geocaching, but only after a nap. We must be getting old. The wind is relentless here.Really nice walk from accommodation to gz. Thanks heaps
On a very cold evening walk, but to make use of the daylight hours, this cache was found jomingara with the find! Continuing the tradition of post golf caching!
A wonderful weekend away had to try and get all the caches on King Island whilst here. An easy find as it was sitting out completely exposed. Cache returned and covered well. TFTC
Arrived in Tassie by ferry, then flew King Island, 2nd find here. Stamped log and replaced. As the sleeting rain arrived. Thanks to CO
TFTC,
Back in Tasmania for the National Riley Rally this time. We came a week early to see if we could cache in 7 LGA's in the north west and see locations of interest.
What an unusal design, A quick find, visited trackables.

Today we were tourists as well as cachers and found this cache while travelling the island with goingplaces2. Log was soon signed, all was replaced. Job done! TFTC.
We flew over to King Island with ilookgeo and spent the day doing a combination of tourist things and geocaching. This was one of the caches we found. We took in the view from here on a rather windy and dismal day. The log was soon signed with two more names and all went back into place before we moved on. Thanks go to 7brightstars for placing this cache.
Was down on King Island for a golfing getaway and I needed a cache, when one happens to be 100m from our accomodation I couldn't argue with that so down we popped and after a quick search, log was signed and placed back. TFTC
Very happy to be on King Island. This is the first geocache for this trip. To describe this place in one word very windy.
I was on a golfing holiday and decided to pop out after my round and grab a cache on King Island. What a lovely lighthouse. Thanks for bringing me here.
The wife and I came to King Island for our 15 year wedding anniversary. Caching was just the ticket to see what the island has to offer. A beautiful spot. TFTC.
After flying into Currie we picked up our hire car, checked into our accommodation then ventured out to find a few caches. This was our first find on King Island.

Whilst visiting the Currie Harbour Lighthouse this morning we took the opportunity to look for this cache. Accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks 7brightstars for the cache in this windswept yet delightful location.
First Geocache that I've found.
Good fun, great way to spend a quiet afternoon.
Wasn't sure about Covid rules so we left it as safe as possible for someone else to find.
