A milestone birthday for MrTG last month & the family booked a short labour weekend family getaway in Hokitika. It just happened to coincide with a monumental Spring weather event over the weekend. With Arthurs Pass shut with snow, we had to head north out of Christchurch and through the Lewis Pass to loop back around and down to Hokitika......in torrential rain. Fun driving, not much stopping!Heading back to Christchurch today (through Arthurs pass which is open again - yay) but time enough this morning for a early morning adventure with MrsTG whilst we let the boys have a sleep in....Walked in from nearby; found on the opposite side to the expected. As previous, lid awol...but still manged to make a mark. Thanks.
Cool spot Did a big 80km bike loop from hokitika to kaniere and out to here . Cache unfortunately definitely needs some care TFTC
unable to sign as cache was missing its lid and it was full of water = stuck paper. A great hiding spot!
Rode a small portion of the wilderness trail this afternoon and picked up 16 caches there and back. This one took me a few minutes. Was looking on the wrong side of the bridge initially. Managed to see the hint item on both sides! When I switched my attention to the correct side I quickly spotted what I was looking for! #7170. TFTC.
A sneaky little hide this one, but a love of looking over the top of railings and into the water below definitely helped. Tftc
Yahoo was able to turn my frown upside down. Was able to revisit the site and after searching finally located cache. BUT then what do you know muggles appear. Thankfully there was something to look at while they past. A favorite from me.TFTC
A very quick and easy find, which was appreciated as it started to do what it does on the Coast. TFTC
Rain started to come in but last ones for the are ask was determined and success! TFTC
We had a good look around & still couldnt see anything that matched the hint. Maybe we should have gone to Specsavers. As soon as we spotted the telltale sign of the cache we then saw the hint . Great cache in a great spot. Thanks for placing.
Having spent the day collecting caches around town, on the way back to our lodging, we saw this linear route, so decided that Tim could drop Viv off and she could do it whilst he drove back to the Airbnb which is where this trail ends. She guessed what she'd be looking for, but it still took far too long to find! Just as she was about to give up, she saw it. Log signed and cache in good condition, Have a favourite point.TFTCTim and Viv -ddm
Found on a five day geocaching road trip to the Nelson, Buller, and West Coast regions. We travelled many kms, by car bike and by foot and found many great caches and explored many areas. Thanks to the various CO's for the caches sites we visited that made our trip so great. Thank for the caches.
Last find for the day, right on dusk. Spotted after a few minutes, after looking for a different type of hide. Thanks for something a little less ordinary!
Nana and Aunty Grace took me (Allysa) on a walk today so we could find some caches. They had already found this one so just pointed to where is was so I could reach and sign the logbook.TFTC.
Great day out on the introducing Linneamagnusssson to the world of geocaching.TFTGC
Thanks for hiding this cache maitahisteve I appreciate it. I️ love finding geocaches while on the E bike with JDScout and a couple of muggles.
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are currently parked up at the DoC Lake Mahinapua Campsite … we had been to Woodstock-Rimu to check out the mining history & decided to check out a few more local caches … we had previously walked some of this tramline from the ‘treetops road’ & some more from the ‘foot-bridge carpark’, but this time we decided to stop in here & go for a walk & work back towards the middle … overcast & raining … this cache was easily found, log completed & replaced … gets a favourite point from us … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #3,922 for us.
The complete month march I am travelling on both Islands. Christchurch heading south, next the westcoast.
AbelTasman-Wellington-Rotorua-Hahei and finally Auckland.
This was one of the caches I found; thanks for showing me the area.

Found on the way back from Ross to Hokatika. Great place for a cache. Nearly lost it in the wind. Thanks for the cache.
We were heading a bit further south today to do a couple of walks, when I saw how close this one was to the parking area I asked gk to stop so that we could come and find it.
As we pulled over to let traffic past before parking I noticed a deer skin and bones on the side of the road - that was a bit random.
We had to wait for a couple of bike riders to clear the way on the bridge and track before we went to look for this one. It was such a nice day we were not surprised to see so many bike riders out enjoying the sunshine.
One I registered what the hint was indicating the cache was a quick find.
Thanks for placing this cache and encouraging us to have a closer look at the bridge and thank you for the smiley

Found it! Starting down the track today, we found this cool cache that was maybe my favourite of the day, and therefore gets an FP. TFTC!
Spotted the cache on arrival. Lingered as the boat was heading out to the lake so watched it for a bit.
Such a cool cash, the hint when ya realise is the best thing ever, good wee walk
Was getting photos on the bridge and randomly came across it by accident. Super excited
Day 1 of 4 on the Wilderness cycle trail. After arriving early at the Scenic Waterways we headed to explore Hokitika. As we were going over this bridge, we thought we would stop and look for this cache. It didn’t take long to spot the cache. We were able to complete the formalities and return the cache before a couple walking their dog started to head over the bridge. TFTC
Took me a bit to find this one , had a cyclist pull up beside me as I was pretending to take photos , she wanted a photo taken , after that I was looking at leaving and wondered something… bang on , there it was
Found. Stopped and had a lovely chat to a local. Was about to give up when I spotted some unusual
Quick search around and it wasn't long before I spotted something. Great hide Thank you for the cache

Biking the Wilderness trail with my geocaching muggle partner who is better at finding caches than me. Today we ride from Ross to Cowboys paradise. Great ride and will recommend to all my biking friends and relatives.

A great place for a cache and a busy spot for cyclists today. Once we found the hint object we soon had the cache in hand. TFTC
Found on a cycle loop from Hokitika on the West Coast Wilderness Trail and returning via SH6 before the last old rail section to Ross. A wonderfull scenic ride for which we give thanks to all those involved in its creation. TFTC
I had a free day in Hokitika today, so decided to hire a bike and ride out to Lake Mahinapua. Stopped for this cache along the way and found it quickly enough, then spotted the hint afterwards! TFTC!
Didnt notice the hint item until we had found the cache. It would have been lots easier if we had read the hints. An enjoyable walk on a lovely day. TFTC
I reckon I've found a cache at this bridge before, or was it another bridge? I spent some time looking for evidence of the hint item. Once I'd had success with that part of the exercise I was soon signing the log. A great hide. TFTC .
Out with Mr C's cousin, picked up son from rest home and had a nice drive out. Had this walk and bridge to ourselves so was happy to be able to look everywhere. Found the sneaky hide, how awesome. Thanks for this cache maitahisteve.
Thanks for putting out this cache for woolwood9 and I to find!
SL **tm/ww NZ** (may just be a black smudge on the many wet or plastic logs)
*We soon had another good cache located!*
First cache of the day for us just before 7-00am

We needed to head to Ross to sort a couple of our caches but had had two aborted attempts due to one thing or another. Last night we decided we would make a run for it today despite the weather forecast. An early start meant we were on the road just before 7am and we headed off in the rain. Driving through flooded roads and dodging downed tress and slips we arrived at our destination. We sorted out the maintenance then headed home again picking up caches along the way.
After picking up the previous cache we left our car there and headed across the road to this one. A chilly wind was blowing off the fresh snow on the distant mountains so we didn't linger long. Not sure if I signed 8th or 9th all day. tftc

Tufty and I decided to cyclocache along that part of the West Coast Wilderness Trail between the Hokitika River Bridge and Tree Tops.
After riding that impressive piece of new track we rode over the bridge to make this find. TFTC.

BaldEd and I had planned to ride part of the Wilderness Trail through the bush near Lake Mahinapua.
Luckily for us there was no other traffic as we had parked on the bridge.
Cheers for the cache.

Guessed exactly what this would be, but it still took a little while to find. Not to bad though. That dragon sure has sharp eyes! The cache was bigger than expected, but still could not fit a path tag in there.
Taybeedragon and I are off on another weekend's exploring - again! This time to the West Coast. The company owes me some time so I took Friday off. Lots of rain on the way down, but after that it was a nice cloudy-but-not-rainy weekend. It never rains on the West Coast when I come to visit! Parked Zara in Greymouth and on Saturday came down this way in Toby. Taybeedragon had an excellent trip planned - two cycle trips, some TMGTs and adventure labs, 74 caches all up today.

Found with StreetWalkerNZ on a 3 day weekend to the West Coast to increase our find counts on some low number calendar days. Also we were keen to escape the dismal grey and wet weather in Christchurch.
Not an instant find, as had trouble finding the hint object! Once spotted, SW soon located the cache. Nice hide and loved the location. TFTC.

#18392. We waited for a grandfather and grandchild (on bikes) to get off the bridges. The grandfather asked me if I was a troll, and then asked Troodles whether she was a troll. Weird. Took us a while to spot the cache (even though we had a good idea of what we were looking for). Eventually Troodles spotted the hint object, and soon after I located the cache. This was the last cache of day, as it was nearly five and pretty gloomy. TFTC.
Long overdue caching road trip, heading to hokitika for the long weekend after checking into my hostel and a quick lunch it was back out for a few more ,plenty of daylight left...
Only one place it could be ...didn't take long tftc

This took a wee while to hunt down. There are 2 hint items! choose the red one! Found eventually and it wasn't that hard, thanks.
Its a lovely weekend to visit the Coast. Time for some biking and caching
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Almost came back tomorrow as my knees got so sore from looking. Well, that sentence makes sense to me. Then it became obvious! Tftc.
There was a cache here, if I recall correctly, by one of the foundation cachers of SI, bitsprayer.
This one bit easier to get. Thanks

Had a great day caching from Christchurch to the West Coast, bit of rain here an there but a good day. Many Thanks Bitsprayer
Streak-week Day 7. Mum talked a walk mate into coming and searching for this one yesterday while they were at work - but without a GPS they didnt have much luck, so she was eager to return today and find this. It didnt take her long today knowing the area was correct and we didnt see the hint until after finding the cache (and it not really relevant) The log is already damp and was abit ripped. We are both glad streak week is now over. Thanks for the effort in placing and creating this cache for all of us to enjoy
FTF With Holymu. The persistent rain for the last days finally made way for a beautiful sunny day. That and the need to find caches to help solve the "Mystery at the Museum" plus 3x potential FTFs were three motivators to venture out. We succeeded with every task we set ourselves for today. This was the first FTF . The hint and the GPS didn't make much sense at first. Should I chuck it in? Well, I did but signed the log first Thank you maitahisteve
FTF with Hazedarus.
With three new caches in the area and a promising looking day it didn't take long to decide what the day's activity was going to be, plus there were some other caches we hadn't found that would help us solve the Mystery at the Museum.
This was our first FTF of the day. I'm not in the habit of hanging around bridges unless I'm looking for fish swimming below but today's catch was certainly worth it.
Thank you maitahisteve.
