Out and about today poking around Mt Major. The views here are spectacular, to say the least. There is a stiff breeze blowing at the moment. The flies are getting very friendly as well. The paddocks look amazing with all the different crops and patterns. Thank you for placing this cache here for me to find. TFTC
I came up just for the trig station find, but realised there was a multi to be found using the compass thing. Worked it out and made it to GZ. Alas the sheet is very wet...could do with an hour or so in the sun. TFTC
Happy Australia Day! A cooler day today, perfect for geocaching. Collected the clues and plugged in the coordinates to get me to the cache. Unfortunately a little moisture has found it’s way into this container. I didn’t have a pen with me so make sure you BYO pen for this one. TFTC.
Another fun multi for the night.
Although it was a clear evening, there were no peaks to be seen in the distance.
Being on the summit feels like your a world away from everything. A lovely place to reflect.
I was a little of gz but after a nudge from TBS the cache was right there looking straight at me.

With the rest of the family in Sydney and a busy few weeks coming up at work I decided last week to have a day off to go caching. Looked at the map and initially thought about Shepparton but then saw an intriguing collection at Mount Major so that became my target. Picked what would be a sunny day (was raining when I left Albury but was fine most of the day - though very windy). In the end a successful day with 26 caches found and one DNF. Turned out to be a Team BGF day.
There was a dude sitting in the car as I approached from the costean - no idea what he was doing (was a loony late lunch break perhaps). No problem getting the coordinates and then another down hill walk to GZ. Could see Glenrowan and Buffalo to the east but Bogong was in cloud. A unique log is quite damp but still signable - not certain it will last to be full. Another fun multi

Out and about on trusty treadles aka the MTB as I heard Mt Major is fun for riding. I don’t mind uphills but it’s not really my style of terrain - still a change of altitude and fab views of where I’ve just driven from! with beaut panoramic views of home base. Buffalo looks impressive and there’s plenty of snow on the peaks. Apart from skittish sheep, no muggles today. Cache locate and mission accomplished. Now it’s off to Shep with a load of boxes for #1 daughter who has moved there so I’m crystal balling plenty of visits. TFTC and the fun!
Best part is the view for sure. Nice multi and excellent cache container. Great idea. Love it. Well love everything but the flies. OMG. Fly hill! TFTC.
It has been a major aim of mine for many years to get back to the top of this mountain again, and today we finally made it. Luckily we were able to drive right up to here with locus cache, Rex the geodog, kernalcache, catnap777 and dalerious.
The view is even better than I had remembered and I was able to take a beaut panoramic shot.
Thanks TeamBGF for this beaut Multi. It is certainly worthy of a favourite point but I’m still working on achieving some of them. I’ll give you an IOU for now, and have to do a power trail soon!

Lucky to have a few days by the river at Yarrawonga, today our GPS'r headed us toward Shepparton in search of a few caches, we only got as far as "The Major" before we were surrounded by hidden treasure. We were right into the walking now, mostly on the capeweed carpet! Amazing how far we could see. Just have to award a FP for one of the best 360 degree views.
Thanks Team BGF for placing caches in such interesting locations.

Out on a very warm day walking around this picturesque park. Dale and l had something very different planned for today, but a series of unfortunate events put the kruytbosch on those plans entirely. Not that that mattered in the least. Just being in the presence of such a willing cacher, who bends over backwards to please is a joy. This was a very simple, but very enjoyable multi. Team BGF, you've done it again. Cache found in good condition.
#17476. It has been a while since I have been out caching and today Robmc, Howjen567 and I made an attack on Mount Major. Rob and Howard had done some of these back on 6th July but this was my first time here. We arrived at the carpark at 9.30am and were back again in 4 hours and 20 minutes. This included a few long side treks and a decent lunch break at the top. We were the only ones here today which surprised me as most people have had to contend with many walking muggles. Fortunately I had a walking pole but even so I found the downhill back to the car rather difficult. Walking is most definitely not a favourite sport for me. Give me a bike any day.
We battled on to the summit and this is where we stopped for lunch. What fantabulous views - I could have sat here for hours admiring the scenery. After lunch I worked through the multi, did the check sums and off into the distance we went again to find GZ for me. We have done a lot of walking so far and we ain't finished yet. Favourite point for the views.
Thanks Team BGF

A little bit of back and forth for us on this one. Worth the effort though. Thanks for this awesome cache!
Reaching the top is always a highlight and with fabulous views of some snow topped mountains and yellow countryside. Found this cache as part of the afternoon's outing on the mountain to find all 13 caches as it stand to date. Love all the thought and creativeness put into your caches Team BGF including this one. TFTC.
I remember seeing a few of these get published a few months back and thinking I’d like to get over to check out the area at some stage. Then lockdown 2.0 happened and I forgot about them.
After collecting a number of the wonders of the world souvenir challenge tokens recently I then discovered the final two I needed happened to be on the Mt Major series. I spoke to the wife and we hatched a plan. Today wasn’t supposed to be to wet or cold so we set out from Wangaratta just before lunch.
We ate lunch in the car park before setting off up the hill at 12:18pm. I hadn’t even counted the caches up there, we mostly wanted to just get outside in the fresh air. After arriving at the tower we spent a lot more time off track for the rest of the day. The landscape is covered in thick knee high cape weed!
I don’t think we took the most efficient route around up top but we made it fun.
We had to double back on ourselves for this one but found the cache pretty quickly at GZ. The rain was getting closer and we wondered if we’d have to cut the day short and march ourselves straight back to the car and leave the remaining caches for another day.

The kids were starting to tire as we finally arrived at gz after a few detours to collect all the caches on the way up. Marli had previously had her photo taken standing on gz when we came up to watch the supermoon some months back so she was excited to be here again. We obtained all the required info from this location and worked out the coords before heading off track again to locate the cache. Marli who hadn't found a cache so far today was delighted to locate this one. Loved the map and photos. Mountain caches are the best because the views are always stunning and today was no exception. Thanks Team BGF for this cache and the whole Mt Major series, well done. It was great to have some caches close to home (Shepparton) to find. TFTC
This is the one I came up for. [^]
I can tell you exactly the last time I was at the summit of Mt Major as it was the day after my 18th birthday when I drove up to the top in my 1969 Toyota Crown sedan to dance around like a lunatic having just earned my "P" plates.
The first time was as a scout preparing to launch my home made lashed together death machine in the inaugural "Mt Major Billycart Darby".
In subsequent years the starting line for this annual event was placed much further down the hill. [xx(]
Thanks Team BGF for this great little multi cache with novel final and the perfect excuse to revisit my youth. [^]
Unfortunately the day was a bit hazy (and so are my eyes) so I couldn't quite pick out any of the distant peaks, but I was still thrilled to get up here once more.
Left TB, a fav point and a whole bunch of memories.
Current Covid safe practices adhered to. [8)]

We finally made it to the summit after seeing a number of mountain bikes hurtling along some of the nearby tracks. Three of them were practising all sorts of balancing acts on the nearby structures, so we took our time sorting out the numbers needed to get us to GZ. It was quite warm and sunny, but the Alpine peaks were covered in haze. We could only make out Mt Buffalo in the distance from the Summit. SL at 3.08pm Took: photo #7085 TFTC Team BGF - now to make our descent and pick up the last couple of caches we missed on the way up.
After driving out of the pea soup fog in Wang, I arrived at howjen567's house in brilliant sunshine!
We set off for the Major Walk series, and joined the hordes walking up the new track. Not sure where all these muggles came from, but there was plenty of room on the track for us all.
Fantastic views from the top across to Mt Buller and Bogong, both snow capped (and Wang still in fog!)
The series (as it is atm) took us about 3 hours to complete, including lunch at the top.
It was interesting to confirm which peaks was had been looking at as we wandered around the top of this hill.
Apart from the high country, it is very flat around here. Howard thought he could see his house.
We checked our numbers a couple of times as we hoped that the cache might have been under the nearby platform! Not a lot of spots to hide a container up here.
Fortunately it was a distance away as there were a couple of muggles up here who weren't going anywhere in a hurry.
GZ had them out of view.
Thanks, Robmc.

Lovely spot again. After working out the ins and outs soon had the cache in hand.
FTF 1pm. Well this was the last for the day. The task in hand had to be held onto with a good grip. The freezing cold wind whipped up and sucked out some pages from my folder. It nearly took my beanie off a few times. The puzzle worked out perfect and the cache was found with a blank log sheet. Great effort on the log sheet, but a bit cold to look around by the time I reached this one. Keep up the good work.
Well done SpyInc for being the first to reach the summit of Mt Major (and to find this cache that is ). After reading your log today, it has drawn comparisons to the achievements of none other than Sir Edmund Hillary almost to this day 67 years ago! Congratulations Sir SpyInc.?
