What a great piece of history and a superb gnarled old tree. What a great site for a cache, thanks
Continuing on with my well earned 2 week break and after staying in Rochester, Hay, White Cliffs, Cunamulla, then Toompine for the night (after my very big detour due to lots of road closures) its time to head to Charleville via Quilpie. Some more caches that will break up the drive nicely and people often wonder why it takes me so long to get from A to B.The scenery never gets old for me around her and I love outback Queensland.Happy to not be towing the van as I can pull over anywhere I want.I have stayed in Quilpie before and there a few more caches here now.So a stop at the bakery and museum was called for then I was on my way.Lots of art to stop and look at as well.On my way out of town now and Im heading east and thanks for the lesson on reference trees that I had never heard of before.Geocaching just keeps on teaching. Thanks KerryL62 & Quilpie Information Centre TFTC.
We found your cache today 7 June 2024 9:49am , while enjoying another day in our beautiful countryside. TFTC KerryL62
Thanks for putting this one out to find. I have not found the one nearby as I only gave myself a set time. I did not put DNF there as I am certain it would still be there. The one at the old opal fossicking area is another donut. However so far I got all the others in the town.
Day trip to Quilpie from Charleville. Spending a few days out here with other geo friends.

Woo hoo!!! Finally made it to my first ever QOGM, was so sad to have missed the earlier ones, but this one was great! Loved the musters and the creative activities. Sadly its now time to head back home. Taking a bit of a roundabout way to pick up a couple of extra counties; Barcoo, Quilpie and Bulloo that we missed on previous travels. So glad that we have made the trip it has been such an incredible adventure, full of amazing scenery and incredible wildlife! Great to be out travelling the countryside again with GLISS! Signed as G! NRC or our individual names. Thanks to everyone who has placed caches and enabled this wonderful adventure! It will certainly be one i will remember for many years. This was a very cool cache. I always like checking out places like this! Thanks for the cache!
Found with Nibletricecakes on the drive from Quilpie to Cunnamulla via Thargominda. TFTC

We were only discussing blaze trees yesterday so it was great to see this one today. We're on our way to Longreach for QOGM and making a few detours to explore the outback. Tftc
32,669. Found during our Queensland Outback GeoMuster (QOGM) 2023 Longreach Adventure - a 33 day epic tour of Northern NSW and Outback Queensland finding many caches, attending great events and catching up with awesome Cachers along the way.Queensland Outback GeoMuster (QOGM) 2023 Longreach Adventure Day 9. Well the trip was well and truly underway. I have never been to a QOGM before, and since this was the last one I decided to head up there for the fun. Having basically cleaned out the Charleville region we are now heading to Quilpie for a few days. A new County for me Today we headed up to Adavale and Lake Dartmouth. This was the next find of the day. A quick find once at GZ. Signed the log, usually as F65 A33, replaced the cache as found, then we continued on our journey. Thanks KerryL62 !!
QOGM 2023 Longreach Day 8. Quilpie Day 1. Driving from Charleville to Quilpie via Cooladdi. Fitzy_1965 and Albida33 are on our trip in early spring to Longreach. With no caching left to do in Charleville, we packed up and started west. With plenty of stops along the way, but the best was at Cooladdi where had a good look around and a late breakfast. On to Quilpie, where despite the rodeo and show being in town we were able to get a site at he caravan park. The afternoon was spent visiting the various caches around town, and even doing a bit of maintenance where required and possible.
It is always good to have some of the history of the land pointed out, so it was well worth the stop here today.
Thanks for the cache KerryL62

Firstly I will appologise for the boiler plate log. This does not take away from all the effort that the QOGM placement team and other geocachers have taken to ensure that we have a fantastic QOGM.
This log covers from around the 20th September to the final day of QOGM the 2nd of October, 2022. We attended many events and found untold nuimbers of caches that included puzzles, multi's, Whereigo's and AL's. We made new friends and caught up with old friends, both locals and geocachers. The meals that we had at two of the events where out of this world, such that we cannot give them a star rating as we do not have enough stars. At the final event their was so many prizes, we feel that you whould have been very unlucky to leave this event without something. This year we were not able to team up with our usual cohorts and were invited to join another group who were fun, enthursatic and well organised. It was very different for us to not be the driver. We look forward to hopefully attending next years QOGM in Longreach. SL TFTC

At QOGM 2022 with Temingi
Now that the festivities are over ...
And we are staying another night ...
But all the Charleville caches have now been found
Taking a drive out to Quilpie, the closest block of caches Temingi hasn't found.
Started the new lab
Then started on the ones in town.
This was a bit different too
All good ... now to continue the run around town.
Thanks for the cache.

Thanks for the cache. A big day drop out from Charlesville.
A great but long day had out in the countryside driving to Cooladdi and then onto Quilpie, a place I had never been to before. Our group of three signed all logs as Team SIP (Snickersallan, Imbunda & patrol14)

Had to stop here to find this cache. Log signed as team SIP. Clever hide. A fav point from me.

Day 3 of my outback travels and the continuation of my Queensland Outback Geocaching Muster for 2022. As a continuation from last year’s event and a very successful team collaboration of Willis007, Jacs Team, Triple turmoil and myself; we continued with the team again for this year. We have worked hard in getting to a point where we can just jump in a car, go, and have fun for the day. There are lots of laughs and repetitive jokes seems to be the call for each day.
Today was a drive to Cooladdi for an event and then a drive to Windorah via Quilpie. Yep a 12 hour day of driving, collecting some LGA’s and a few caches along the way. We left the event and set off on our mission. Ticked off a few personal goals along the way; a couple of extra LGA’s, another couple of earth caches and a few extra caches in the haul. With time pushing we just made it back in time for the last dinner bell at the pub.
Thanks for the caches and the travels out here today.

Found as an early bird for QOGM - Charleville 2022. On the hunting trail again with SeasonedBird (aka Mrs Geo, Salty Chook, the Old Boiler, Old Chook, Dirty Bird, Angry Bird & occasionally even Love Bird). It’s a great day for caching.

Caching Charleville in a convoy to Cooladdi for the local event for QOGM 2022 and snuck over to Quilpie to catch up with friends and take them caching around town. Amazed this tree is still largely in tact so many years after it was carved.

On the way to Charleville we took a detour and found a few caches. Thank you for the fun ??
Thanks for the history. The wind today made unrolling and logging a tad difficult.

Yes, I have to agree with a previous logger that the cache has numerous guardians. It was however an easy find a cautious retrieval and return of the cache once the log had been signed. TFTC
Noticed the meaning of the cache name as we drove off. Thanks for drawing it to our attention.

Wow - what is happening here! A huge ant colony was living in this tree and also used the home of the nano as a refuge! Tricky getting the nano out without getting these weird black and red ants all over us!
btw - was that ring a Stock Route Marker?
Thanks KerryL62.

Travelling homeward bound to Busselton from the Townsville Mega, how lost can we get?
It’s been 2 months since the CacheQld mega and we are still in Queensland, that’s still a long way to go to get home to WA
But the fun bit is, finding all these geocaches along the way.
No matter where we park our caravan for the night, it’s always an exciting day to see this great country through the eyes of the local geocachers.
Thanks to all the COs for showing us your favourite spots along the way.

Easy find and when I’m very glad we stopped to do it was great to see this tree still with us original mark on it although I’m not sure for how many more years that tree will be alive looks like it’s been infected by ants pretty bad
What an interesting find! Log is absolutely completely full unfortunately. TFTC KerryL62
Found today, with a full log sheet, so signed with "V". Didn't have a replacement log so dropped into the visitor information centre to let them know and the lady who does the cache maintenance had the day off work. Hopefully, a message will be passed on.

Found while traveling on my 'Quest to the Cape' trip from Adelaide to the northern tip of Australia on Cape York Peninsula. The plan was to tour along the Strzelecki Track to Innamincka, out to Noccundra and through Quilpie, Blackall, Barcaldine, Hughendon and Ravenshoe to Cairns, then out to Weipa and up to the top. I ended up staying at Quilpie overnight in a free camping area at the eastern end of town. Thanks for the cache KerryL62 and Quilpie Information Centre!
Here for the Outback Qld Masters Golf. Yesterday I caddied but today I’m caching. Trying to get as many as I can today. Favourite from me for the pure simplicity of the container and hide. TFTC
It was quick find as there weren't many places to search. However it took us some time to get the container open and even longer to extract the log - but eventually we succeeded. Our first find on a trip out west. TFTC
Most unexpected little beauty

This cache was on the list for us to collect while passing through on Day 5 of our geotrip to outback QLD. A quick find at GZ despite its tiny size!
Next stop and to my surprise my parents were the FTF on this cache. Adding a fav point just for the novelty of it.
We enjoyed the variety of caching. Good hides and a little challenging. Our thanks to KerryL62 for placing this cache and enhancing our enjoyment of the area.
I decided to take a break from cold Adelaide and head north to warmer climes for a month or so. The (loose) plan is to travel up to Innamincka then into western and central Queensland camping along the way. Where I go and how far north I get will depend on how distracted I get along the way and how hot it gets.
Last night I camped at a great little spot south of Eromanga. From there it was on to Quilpie, Adavale, then half way up to Blackall, retracing some of my travels from a couple of years ago and finding some new caches that had been put out since.
This was a really interesting bit of history.
Thanks KerryL62 for the cache.

Here is a blurb about us
We are trying to get a badge ,the author ,from project GC for writing found log files of 100 words or more. Once we get this badge we will stop writing this. We are also trying to get badges for adding photos to our found logs .
We started caching in December 2019 and by January 2020 we were hooked. As we are on the road full-time, living in a caravan for almost 2 years now, caching fits in well with this lifestyle. It is taking us to places that we would normally not have gone. When we move to a new place we also look at what caches are in the area and how many days we will need to be there in order to get the caches we want.
We are heading into Queensland to a few caching hot spots. First stop will be Blackall, then Jericho before heading to Emerald. This is a great time of year to be in this area . Each place we will be there for a few days at least and will try to get some caches in town and surrounding areas. We hope we can make those extra smilies without too much trouble and add to our find tally. We are looking forward to the variety of hides we will encounter. Thank you for your work in placement and ongoing effort for maintenance of caches.
Send us a message if you are available for a meet up. We would like to meet other cachers and have a chat.
