The weekend up in Paterson had been a last-minute decision, so I wasn't very clued up about what we could do while in the area. However, geocaching always comes to the rescue, and I noticed a large patch of caches around here. They were all part of the Walka Waterworks series. In addition, there was also an Adventure Lab - a caching experience I had not yet tried with the app. So what better way than to fill our afternoon with caching, looking at the waterworks and trying out an AL.
Our first stop was here, next to a field with three horses. Two of the horses were very friendly and came over to the fence to see what we were up to. We fed them some of the nice grass outside their paddock, and I had a quick look around to see where the container could be hidden.
It didn't take too long to spot the hiding place and to grab the container. While the others were still feeding the horses, I completed the signing duties and returned everything as found. Then it was time to get up close and personal with the actual waterworks and have a better look at the beautiful architecture of the building.

We came up to Hunter Valley for a few days of food and wine. Of course a visit to the region is not complete without doing some of the caches in the area.
On our third day in the area I was granted time to do some geocaching. So I choose to go to the Walka Water Works for the AL cache, as well as the nice cluster of traditionals.
However I made one mistake. I brought my geo-dog along and having not studied the cache attributes I was disappointed to see the area is not allowed for dogs, not even on leash.
So it turned out to be a short lived visit where I only did a few cache close to the car park. I then drove back to Cessnock for more dog friendly caches.
Unaware of the dog-issue that was coming, this was the first find on the entrance to the area. TFTC kingfisher_au!

I joined a trip to Maitland with Aquilus1, dty73, Tankengine, Barb2e, Kitty Katch & Joolay. The weekends main game was to do the dogs head series, but along the way we did some old caches around Sydney and did as many Maitland caches as time allowed. The return journey was via some old caches and some challenges that may or may not be met one day.
Day 3's target was a trip to Frying Pan. The trip was great and the caches along the way and there lots of fun. I was very disappointed at just how many people were camping in a spot like this, I cannot see how it could be enjoyed. The afternoon was finished in Maitland with the Walka Lake Adventure Lab, a fun diversion.
Thanks for the cache kingfisher_au

A caching trip away with Kittykatch, Joolay, Aquilus1, Tankengine, Barb2e & Albida33 - the Capital Crunchers Gang!!
We came by here to do this series, pick up a couple of interesting other ones and do the Adventure Lab. It was a pretty busy area with many families and groups celebrating. But the walk around was lovely and I wish we could have been able to finish the rest in the series, but we were off to the other side of town. Gives us a reason to come back again I guess ; )
I like the effort put into these caches and we were impressed with the many differences they all held. Tftc kingfisher_au!!!

Found with the Capital Cachers on a beaut walk out to the water works. We had a lot of fun this weekend, finding lots of cool caches, but one of my favourite parts of our weekend was our walk around to collect these caches and the AL. We enjoyed the sunshine, talked with other walkers and runners. We talked to the guys at the remote control boats and they gave us a turn to direct their play! We searched high and low, saw lots of wild life. Thanks for a beaut walk and weekend
Great spot to spend some time. Found with Capital Crunchers on the 3rd day of a trip out of Canberra. Tftc
Chooo ooo – FOUND – on our Maitland/Dogs Head invasion! Signed - Capital Crunchers! (Joolay, KittyKatch, dty73, Aquilus1, Albida and Barb2e).
We have a great long weekend from Thursday to Sunday caching all around Maitland and beyond. We found some power trails and many cool places as well!
Thanks for the cache!

Found with and signed the Capital Crunchers who are: dty73, Tankengine, joolay, kittycatch, Albida33, Barb2e.
Visited here a few weeks back so was keen to return. A lovely walk around with unique containers while doing the AL. The horses in the paddock seem to love watching the finders!

Not today. Parked in the water works and walked back to the start of this series but no luck. Left car at 7:30ish and got back to car bout 11:00 with 17 finds and 1 dnf. 2 caches left to do. Searched everything in area of gz but no luck.
A bit wet at the waterworks today, picked up TB, we aren't going to Wisconsin but will help him on his journey. Tftc kingfisher.
It was quite cool at home so we decided to drive up to Maitland to complete the series around Walka. How much hotter could it be? Turns out it was a lot hotter and with little shade on the track at noon. We called in here on the way and I had the cache in hand before the GPS had warmed up. Thanks for a good starting point to the series.
In Kurri for a weekend of Geocaching with Wazza9, quick find, stamped the log and replaced. Thanks to kingfisher_au for the great series.
TFTC,
Came up here today with the idea of achieving more than we did. After a while, the numbers didn't matter and rain stopped us from doing some walking caches at a critcal time.
Great to have a chance to do a variety of caches placed by different cachers, thanks for providing and continuing to maintain your caches.

The beautiful puppy geo art up Maitland way has been tempting me for months!, so when Joolay, Minniek, Fitzy_1965 and SpecimenX started to brew plans for a trip, I knew I was in. Making a whole long weekend of it, we’ve hunted down much needed counties on Friday, diverted to Jasmers, caught up with locals at events and picked up some extra cool little trails and night caches, all the while keeping our eye on the geo art prize So wonderful to have the chance to get away for some caching fun, and to catch up with some local cachers whilst we’re about. Thanks so much to everyone who has invested in these caches to make our wonderful weekend away a possibility. Thanks for the Cache.

Headed to the Maitland area with fitzy_1965 & SpecimenX for an extra long weekend of caching.
Day 3 saw us joined by nibletricecakes and Joolay again. After yesterday's mammoth effort we took it slow and headed up to Frying Pan caching along the way.
Back from Dungog, time to cache in and around Maitland.
All caches where found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned. Logs were either signed or stamped as Capital Crunchers, CC, Kapital Krunchers or KK.

19,124. Found as part of the Capital Crunchers Team (fitzy_1965, minniek, specimenX, nibletricecakes and Joolay) during the Canberra Invasion of Maitland region over the long weekend.
Day 3 of our invasion. And after a HUGE day yesterday we had our sights set on heading up and getting Frying Pan for our JASMER, plus other caches as they appeared on our route. After finding Frying Pan we headed back to Maitland for some more quality caches. Having previously walked around the waterworks it would have been great to go collect all these new (to me) caches, but we just didn't have the time this trip. We could however do this drive by !
Thanks kingfisher.au !! Definitely next time.

Today was the day we were heading up to Frying Pan to finally get that early month ticked off for my Ausmer. It was supposed to be an quick trip up but we ended up 4WD'ing the entire circuit after looking for a Trig up the back. And then we had a closed bridge so again a detour. So we were late getting back to Maitland to continue our cache attack. Its been a lovely day and looking forward to picking up more of the Kingfisher caches.
Up in Maitland with Nibletricecakes, Fitzy1965, MinnieK and Specimen X, to do the Dogs Head going by the name of Capital Crunchers

Off we go on another adventure around the area and today's priority was to grab the golden oldie Frying Pan (GCF1) and then anything else which we had on our list A quick park and grab for us here at this one. Would have liked to have gone for the wander around the wetlands but we didn't have either the time or the energy after yesterday! Signed or stamped as Capital Crunchers or CC to save log space.
Thanks for the hide, kingfisher_au

With the event at the pub in Maitland the family decided to find some caches prior to dinner at Walka Water Works. We arrived at 16:30 at Walka only to read that the area closed at 17:00 and 19:00 during daylight savings which started the next day. Luckily there was a weeding so the gates were not going to close at 17:00. We met Tombi and his family but he had already found most of the caches in the area so i darted off to find them on the north side of the lake whilst the two families made there way to one Tombi had yet to find. On the way we met the CO who was out performing a cache check which was good as he mentioned one of the ones i was after had been moved and he had just finished putting it back where it belonged. Thanks to CO for putting this series out and nice pre dinner walk. Found today at 5:49:00 PM. TFTC

Pretty sure we found the cache, as it had kingfisher printed on it, but when opened it had nothing in it! Looked around for evidence of a log but it was quite windy today so may have blown away. Put a piece of paper in, SL TFTC kingfisher_au

Reperio at 1430.
After attending the event at Walka Water Works, we headed home, but not before stopping for a quick cheeky cache right outside the gate. The kids jumped out and soon spotted the cache perched nicely in it's hiding location. No doubt I will be back to track down the rest of the series.
