I've been meaning to take a picture of the band shell at Fair Park in Dallas, Texas for quite some time. Today, I decided I didn't have any more time to waste so I made a special trip down here just to take these photos. The perimeter fence was locked so the closest I could get was sticking my camera and GPSr through the fence to take the pictures.
During the Texas State Fair, the band shell is home to the wild bird show put on by a conservatory group each year. They have birds flying from multiple locations around the audience, from the stage and even from a car on the Texas Star ferris wheel.

We found this bandstand during a Christmas Day visit to Belize City, Belize. Touring Central America was a great way to spend the holidays ... thanks for sharing and being a part of it!
I found this one in Cologne/Germany. It does not look very attractive during the wintertime, but in the summer it is really great. There is lighted water around the band.

Just 0,4 mile from our house is this bandshell. It has been build in the beginning of the 20th century, but I could not find the exact information. Surely the bandshell in our village is used! Every summer the local high school harmony plays a free concert in it, the people of village bring their summerchairs with them and enjoy the music.

This is the new Rushville Amphitheatre in Rushville Indiana. Closed for the season by snow it opened to several concerts in the summer of 2005. The front of the amphitheatre is shaped like a former covered bridge near the site that offered two way traffic and two pedestrian bridges on either side.

This is the Lincoln Park Bandshell, located in Lincoln Park in Rock Island, Illinois USA. I am not sure when this bandshell was built, but I'm guessing it's at least 50 years old. There are two plaques on either side of the bandshell. The one on the west side says: "FREE CONCERTS IN THIS PARK WERE PROVIDED FOR IN THE WILL OF NAOMI L. DAVENPORT OF DAVENPORT, IOWA". The one on the east side says: "ERECTED IN MEMORY OF EBENEZER COOK DAVENPORT BY HIS SISTER NAOMI L. DAVENPORT OF DAVENPORT, IOWA". I used to listen to free concerts here when I was a kid. My brother and I were on the front page of the local newspaper back around 1986 watching a concert here. Thanks for the cache! ~ozarksjim - Nixa, Missouri

We found our band shelter this afternoon after double checking the cache site to ensure it hadn't been previously logged. It was pretty cold out there today, something in the order of minus 15 Celsius. Oh well, we captured a couple of pictures of the shelter and one lost sole having a smoke on the stage. I guess he's the star of today's show. TFTH

This is at St. John retirement home in Billings, MT. where they put on free concerts during the summer.
This bandshell is located in Dickinson, ND. The bandshell is dedicated in memory of Phil Patterson. I don't think I ever saw a band playing at this bandshell, but I know that it does get used in the summertime. I used this bandshell more of a place to hang out as a teenager.
Found this nice bandstand in White Point Park in Charleston, SC while caching in the city today.

Found this modern day version of the shell in Hafer Park in Edmond, OK. Free concerts are held on Thursday nights in the summer, local bands and singers perform on the outdoor stage and the local drama group performs Shakespere in the Park. Just bring your own chairs.
Find #261. I discovered this bandshell at Duke Island Park in Bridgewater, NJ, when I came to the park to run in the Run for Runaways 5K, last Saturday. At the time, I needed to get my daughter to a soccer game, so couldn't get the coords/pictures at this time. However, I came back today to do a little jogging and bag this one. Every year, the Somerset County Park commision holds a "Summer Concert Series" here, beginning sometime in June, and ending sometime around mid-September. I've never been to one, but now that I know it's here, I just think I may show up for at least one concert next year! TFTC.

I found this Band Shell while in Souix Falls South Dakota in a park. How wonderful it looked. I have taken pictures of the History behind this Band Shell and the Band Shell. I hope you enjoy this one as I traveled from Wisconsin to South Dakota to bring this to you.

Bristol PA.Hot summer sunday nights. Mom and dad would gather the kids and down to the delaware rivers edge we would go. Bring the blankets and spread them out. Listen to the band play. Ah the memories. This gazeboo built in the late 1800's and refurbished over the years was the focal point to the quaint town located just north of philadelphia pa. Ah the bands - Sousa, Miller, James, dovells. Today its stillin use. You have a picture of the last summers schedule. Many towns are bringing these back and I hope more do.
Althought this band shell looks new, this one has been redone. This location is behind where the local high school was. I imagine the had many sock hops here. Today it the local city park. They still have music and the sorts here.
Found this whilst visiting the Illumination, wow waht a show.
No GPS availble for the picture, wouldn't have been appropriate within the large crowds.

This nice little bandshell located in historic Carmichael Park in California has been used for many local events and concerts. I played little league here in the 1950s.
These photos were taken in the Stadtpark of Vienna, Austria. At this band shell there used to be waltz music with pairs dancing waltz in front of it (I used to be one of them). One thing I remember from there was, that the coffee was very expensive there. I was not there during the day time, but I believe it is still in use and lots of tourists will have to dance waltz in front of it.

The bandshell is used throughout the year for community activities, and annually hosts the local Carols by Candlelight (or so notes for a nearby cache indicate - Time for a Barbe).
This bandshell is in a park in Melbourne's north, across the road from the historic Pentridge Prison. The lake in the park was the quarry the basalt for the prison was taken from (which you'll find out more about when you do the other cache in the park... Gaol House Rocks).
Only had the phone camera with me today, which was particularly disappointing, as the creek feeding the lake was spectacular after the rain this week, and the weir was over flowing nicely at the other end of the lake.

This is the bandshell in Walnut Hill Park New Britain, CT. I think it was built in 1939. It still has many concerts today. I grew up nearby and saw many bands play here on summer nights, even Mary Wilson once. Sorry the gps didn't make the picture, but its hard to do solo and not block the thing while trying to not look like a wack-o in a busy public park! (I will head back and get another shot if you say to for credit)
This band shell was found in Kålltorp, the city of Göteborg in Sweden. It has been music and dance on this place at least since 1950. The bandstand hade to bee reconstructed due to a vandalism a few years ago, it lacks some of it’s past decorations – no point to ad that then vandals destroy the beautiful decor.
