Streak day 9.
Out in the rain getting this one today to continue the streak. Really don’t understand why I committed to this at this point. Regretting my choice of the stream very much.
TFTC but not for the rain GeoTSV.

We've ridden past this heaps of times. A blue frown from a previous visit was sitting amongst a row of yellow on our map. Not any more... avenged the DNF with a find today. TFTC GeocachingTownsville.
Great Northern escape 2022 Day 13. Townsville post Mega section Day 1. Now all the organised activities were over, it was time to catch up with some missed caches. In the morning I returned to Mount Stuart do get the final LAB and do a few more caches with SmittenGranny. After that I went by myself to do a section of the Ross River Power trail on my scooter. As I completed this section I caught up with TikvaNZ & Loci and was able to join them for a few more caches as well, Loci's balance is way better than mine. It has been great caching with Canberran cachers this far away from home.
The log was full here today,

With a goal of collecting 150 caches in a day, our plan was to tackle both geoarts, hit the RRPT and collect some other caches in between. An early start was in order to achieve this goal before getting ready for the Trivia night at the MEGA.
A huge thank you to all the COs for preparing and placing the caches we collected today, the variety of hide locations, types and containers was fantastic.

The day had come; the plan to get 150 caches (excluding labs) in a day for another challenge was here. The planning and prep started two months ago when I was at the Wangaratta mega. With the recent zoom events for puzzle solving a big help and the Geoarts of the saint and the book catering for two thirds of the task, it was just a matter of finding 50 more caches so as I was able to complete. Today I had Willis007 with me; we picked on a few quick easy finds as we were passing and motoring between arts. We then grabbed the bikes and went for a ride around along the Ross river parkway or is that power trail.
The Geoarts were found easy and thank you. The book art did slow us down a little with some hides a little tuff to find. the power trail was fun some good caches and some that also slowed us down. However, by the end of the day we were done and the challenge completed.
Thanks to my caching buddies, the CO’s for the caches and the great areas I got to see today.

Day 12 of the trip from Perth to Townsville.
Today was a quick trip down from Charters Towers to get the only appointment available to replace the windscreen before doing a few caches here and there around Townsville. After booking in to the cabin went for another short caching run before doing some shopping.
Cache found without problems. Log signed and cache returned as it was found.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for geocachers to find.

Day 12 of the trip from Perth to Townsville.
Today was a quick trip down from Charters Towers to get the only appointment available to replace the windscreen before doing a few caches here and there around Townsville. Had decided to do a walk around some of the RRPT but it got too hot for a long walk so cut the number of caches attempted down to a shorter number.

Day 6 of a 3 week holiday driving from Canberra to Townsville and back to attend the Mega. Today was mostly Ross River Power Trail caches by bike. This afternoon Contesta and I joined forces to tackle the section from the Riverway lagoons heading downstream and back up the other side ending up at the event. Cache easily found. TFTC.

So excited to be attending my second MEGA and to fly
to a destination for fun! And return to the tropics in an equally long time
Great to meet new faces and to spend caching time with some familiar cachers as well.Find #5406
A few days ahead to explore this beautiful hot city. So much caching on offer, and apologies for the generic log.
And so it goes, just happy to pick up caches such as this one. Thanks to GeocachingTownsville for putting out and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment!

Found while out cycling around the river we are staying in Townsville and getting ready for the Townsville Mega
I had a few hours this morning before I had to drive home and had the mountain bike packed so decided to do some of this trail, I didn't have time to finish it so will be back another day.
Overall I liked the array of different caches with some being an easy ride all the way to the cache and others needing some tree climbing/fishing ability.
Most of the caches and logs were in good order.
Many thanks to the CO's for placing.

How does that box not get washed away? And why are there so many mozzies? Super easy to find and full of goodies.

it's hard to believe that there are houses near this pretty area. It feels like you are in the bush. I used the roughly cut steps to get down the slope and then walked back to GZ. Thank you for placing the cache.
We woke up to another great morning with clear sunny skies and light winds so decided it was a great day to go for a ride along the Ross River. The added bonus of series of caches on both sides added to the attraction.
The trails were well formed and flat to undulating and the cache styles varied. Some tree climbs we had a go at where we could spot the cache and others, discretion was the better part of valour! Some we just didn’t bother to try! We managed an Earthcache and qualified for a challenge.
At one stage we spotted a Johnstone crocodile while searching for a cache near the water. Heard 3 others splash in as we approached. Then around the corner we saw turtles and later in a scrubby area quite a few wallabies. Water birds were also quite common.
At the furtherest point where we crossed the river for the return journey we came across a cafe where we were able to sit and enjoy a coffee.
All in all, a great day out with some good caching. Feeling a little tired as we are writing these logs, but what a great day out.
Our thanks to the local COs for developing and maintaining these caches. It is much appreciated.

Nice little hike in the forest of Townsville a little slip down the hill before a stop then we found it
Lovely day to walk this picturesque river section. Nice secluded spot and easy find TFTC
Having arrived in Townsville and staying a stones throw away we ventured to this cache. Teamed with Team JLBL. This was well placed. Thanks for hiding.
On the bikes today with Bill from DiMorgan, it was the RRPT Trail not sure how we would go looking at some of the terrain ratings, but decided to give it a go.

There was some discussion about how big a log has to be to be considered 'large' but heading to the biggest one paid off
Found with orth71 on a Sunday morning walk with the Geopup.
Nice climb down and search.
Lovely wallaby hide.

The tree cover makes accurate coordinates challenging. After repeated logs stating such I have updated them to reflect the census.

Cleaning up the last few remaining caches I think 60km as I’m ending my daily streak on 101 tomorrow.
I don’t learn. Swarmed by mozzie and no repellent again.
Found about 18m from the listed cords. I’ll pass on the message to the CO.

Didn’t feel like getting mugged at any point on this tour of the river. 3 dot days to go but this isn’t one of them. 2 in a row tomorrow and the 29th Feb. a nice part of the river would have liked to have seen what it was like during the February floods. Coords were out. It said by 19m at the GZ but would be less than that according to the 8 metres listed at the top of the slope next to the bitumen path. A decent GPS would help under this canopy instead of the phone. Thanks for placing these. It should bring up a souvenir. May be able to get to 400 with what i have left around town but will stop the streak with my event. Must be tough geocaching on holidays with the family as AT502 is blitzing you. Have fun.
Not at coords but you will see where you need to be.
Saw some wallabies as well.

Continuing a cycle/walk along the Ross River, eventually tracked this one down. Could be me but my GPS was about 18m away, and only found looking at another way out. Found at S19° 18.529' E146° 45.455'. No wallabies but the deep barky bark from a nearby residence may have something to say about that. Signed at replaced, thanks again Geocaching Townsville.
This cache was the last stop on me wander along the Ross today
It's been a mighty fine stroll [^]
And here in the scrubberies,
I soon found the cache
And discovered that a wallaby was actually watching me from 20 metres away
I do like it when a cache lives up to its name [^]
