In the area with Selva Girls today picking up some caches around town and this was one of them. Once at GZ the cache was soon in hand and once the log was signed all was returned as found.

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 79. Charters Towers Day 2. Today was supposed to be a shorter day doing the remaining caches around town I could get to. It turned unto a marathon of long multis zig zaging all over town with a dash way out to the south for one final location. I then had to out wait a ground staff person so I could make a dramatic climb to my last cache of the day. Lots of success, but it all took so much longer than expected.

As I was doing one of the multis, I drove past here. I should have spent more time looking around, but I headed straight off for more caching.

Found with tassie expat while exploring this area.
Lots of history here, we read gravestones dating back to 1870, including a couple with similar inscriptions:
"In the midst of life we are in death"
We had to look it up and found it dated back to 1300's.
Thanks for placing this cache.

frmen1 and I enjoy cemeteries, the older the better. Time capsules that show how tough people had it and the use of materials available at the time. A quick find with a brand new log sheet. TFTC

Our last day in Charters Towers and it was the bikes turn for sight seeing, after our 4 weeks riding in Townsville, we have come to like caching on our bikes. Plan on doing a few hills but should be ok with the ebikes.

Got off to a late start to do some caching around Charters Towers with ilook4geo. It was quiet around town being Anzac Day. No problem in finding this cache and adding both names to the log. Cachedin NQ gets our thanks for placing this cache.

Just doing a bit of caching today with goingplaces2 when it was not raining too hard. Sometimes we had to stop, so didn't get to do as many as we would have liked. TFTC.

Given it was Sunday morning, it felt timely to take a walk through the Pioneer Cemetery. The life of the cemetery was really quite a short number of years and we enjoyed walking around and reading some of the history here.
Reading the plaques, it is sobering to note how young so many people were when they died.

After caching having to be abandoned at about midday yesterday because of the rain, today was going to be a very busy day discovering the many different places around this historical town. Thanks to the COs who have placed caches in the area for us to find.

Today travelling from Clermont to Emerald after visiting Townsville for the Mega Event at Easter. Arrived at GZ and after a short search cache was found. TFTC

On a geo road trip with swearah and stephyy. As we say goodbye to Charters Towers we swung by this one. This one was sneaky, swearah managed to spot it though while I played round 2 of tetris today??. Tftc Cachedin NQ

A temporary green container from Coongoola is in place (with permission) as the original was missing. Will leave the green one in place until we can sort a suitable replacement.

We did this one yesterday, but for some reason it hasn’t come up as found on the map or on our geocaching page. We must have forgotten to log it. It was a quick find by Mr Ski while Mrs Ski was still looking in the “other” spot!

I love cemetery caches, and the older the cemetery, the better. This cemetery is a beaut one, full of history and old headstones. The cache was found after a short earch.

Grey nomads, after spending way too much time in Far North Queensland, starting now to wend our way via the Gregory Dev Road to the South. Not many caches for us to collected allong the way, caching with a caravan in tow is not that easy. Always on the lookout for a cache where it is easy to pull over.....

But now we are in Charters Towers, and after taking an early evening walk around Lissner Park for the Adventure Lab, we are on our way back to the caravan park, via this Cemetary.

An easy find in an interesting place. TFTC. However, it is a shame that the local council do not maintain this historic site. The Selheim cemetery also needs attention. Shame on Charters Towers council!

Found with orth71 on a trip to Charters Towers.
Instead of the Mega in Dayboro we came to the Towers to cache.
Out doing some finds, but grass is very long near some but this one was a nice find.
Love the old pioneer cemeteries, they hold all the history.

Charters Towers.
For the last 2 days we have covered the four corners of the region.
We have found such a good variety of caches in some incredible locations, this has been a wonderful way to tour the town.

GZ was obvious.
The clue confirmed I was probably in the right place.
