We hope you enjoyed exploring and discovering the local history in the communities of Aotearoa New Zealand. The Tuia Matauranga GeoTour has now ended. Thank you to the community for all the great logs, photos, and Favorite Points over the last 30 months. It has been so fun!
Wow this is such a wonderful multi, takes you to really interesting places. Solved the final and came past but was very busy so came back today before opening. Very clever hide that made us smile. Happy to sign log here. Thanks for all the work gone into a fantastic multi and the clever cache Injeanious.
Good to learn a bit more about the history here.
Found the answers easily and the final as well.
Thanks for the geotour cache!

We gathered the information for this cache on a previous visit a year ago. We weren't able to get the number from Fyffe House because of workmen there, but while doing this cache and some others in the area, we met cjp55 from the UK. Later in the day they managed to get the Fyffe House number and gave it to us, so today it was just a case of going to the cache, which was a quick easy find of a very cheekily hidden cache. We were pleased the area was relatively quiet this morning. A favourite from us. TFTC
For some reason I woke up at 3am... I thought this would be a good one to do early morning so there was no risk of being muggled, so after not really settling back to sleep, I jumped up, got ready and came up here. This is my last TMGT (although I need to reach out to another CO for the code, as I seem to have misplaced it, and I've looked pretty much everywhere I can think of!)
and just before 5.30, I had this in hand. Awesome! FP for another sneaky hide. Nice view of the sunrise as I headed back, no exploring this trip though, I wanted to get back to CHCH for the event this morning.
TFTC Injeanious, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 1 find(s) of 4 today, making this find #3084

Too rough and murky to go out whale watching so geocaching it was today. Biked along the waterfront, looking for seals and little hidden containers. TFTC
At last! It only took about 4 visits to Kaikoura to finally complete this multi. I'm glad this mission is at last over. Found the cache in a place I have visited many times before but had failed to spot. Cheekly hide. TFTC Injeanious
Poor organisation here by Mrs SoBad. She had walked with a friend from Fyffe House towards Fyffe Quay and back - and then realised where the waypoint was for the cache. So we went back to the beach and, having read the listing, we went to see the whalebones this time as well. Worked out the final ands laughed - it was close to a spot we had been the previous day. Enjoyed the cache final as well.
Thanks. A favourite point from us.

Wasn’t sure I was in the right spot but I saw something that matched the hint. With muggles nearby I managed to find, retrieve and sign the log without bringing attention to myself. Excellent hide. Great multi. Fave from me. Thanks! (Second last TMGT cache of the South Island for me)
Who would know there is a cache here at the final. That's just sneaky and clever. Despite being muggle central here I had an idea of what I would be looking for and was not disappointed! Thanks, Injeanious, for all your work on the TMGT. Brilliant!

What a super fun multi. Two great way points to visit and like someone said a daring finale. I got super lucky at GZ but i can see people having to wait quite some time. I even had horses hitched nearby helping with the theme of the past. Brilliant cache and getting a fav from me.
Finally found it, thanks for the history tour. Had been here twice before but no idea there was a cache waiting for us here.
Found with NZDi. We had a long weekend booked for last weekend, but Mrs Kiwimykl (aka NZDi) didn't feel that flash so we postponed it until this weekend. So Friday morning we packed the caravan (including MTBs) and headed south arriving at the campground about 10.45am. After spending yesterday doing the Kawhai Cycle Trail, a few caches south of town and a few around town, todays effort is to the Mt Fyffe Forest Walk and then drive around the area to see how many roadside park and grabs we can get.
Over the two days caching we manage to find 44 caches with only two DNFs, although we did manage to avenge three DNFs from a previous visit. Of the 44 finds, bumandworker was responsible for hiding 28 of them. Our logs were generally dated and signed with Kiwimykl and NZDi or KM + ND, or variations there of.
We are about to head home but we have this last cache to find. We worked out the final coordinates to this on our last visit back in January, but when we went to sign the log, GZ was muggle central as anyone who has solved this multi can attest to. We passed GZ a couple of time over the previous two days with the same result, But I knew it should be safe at 8.30am on a Sunday morning, and it was. I had also asked a previous finder if where I expected the cache to be based on a drive-by back in January was correct, and this was confirmed. So this morning it was a QEF when we stopped by here prior to departing in the northerly direction.
Once again another well researched TMGT cache.

We were exploring Kaikoura today by way of geotour caches. After finding the required info we headed to the final coords and thought, no, it can’t be... but it was. Thanks Injeanious for bringing us to these interesting places and for the well-camoed cache.
Log full definitely require an urgent replace..nice camo daring place thanks for the cache
A great multi bringing us back to the area again. The log is very wet and needs replacing. Nearby establishment is very busy. Thanks for the placement Injeanious
Good multi. Got chatting to a couple at gz. Told then about geocaching. Then finally found the cache and showed them.As usual they were very interested
Doing a road trip as I have to wait for my villa to be refurbished. What better way than doing a road trip geocaching. Thanks for placing and maintaining.
With a nudge from fellow cachet after my duh moment I found it. Log book is totally full and log sheet I have is too big otherwise I would have replaced for you.

JDScout discovered this clever cache. I was reluctant to find it earlier this year as I thought I had the coordinates wrong.

We hadhad trouble finding a spot to sign as the log is chocca, nothing to replace it with. Cheers

Third time lucky! Yay, glad to have founda muggle free moment to pick this one up and get the info. Cheers
Thanks for the help. Found on our third visit. We should have found it sooner. Log book very full. TFTC
At the house, we found the first clue, then we went back to Armers bay, where we spent the night. Then off for the final. The wind has made some damaged. The CO was present at the event so we could inform her. The logbook is almost full. Thanks for the great information. This adds culture to our vacation.
Grabbing the information for this multi was quite simple as we have been here before and knew where to look. The cache was in the open at GZ and we were out of sight of the many muggles around. Found a space to sign log and replaced correctly. Log may need checking/replacing next time you are passing. tftc
We started this one yesterday with a visit to Fyffe House and couldn’t resist a quick game of horseshoes which was set up out the front. Without going into detail about our performance we would just say that practice makes perfect and we have had no practice. But we enjoyed giving it a try, not something you get to do every day.
Once we had the information we needed it was off to the next waypoint to gather the remaining numbers before heading down to the beach to look at the amazing whale bones. Their size is amazing and shows what magnificent and powerful creatures they are. The area has such a strong spiritual feel and being there was quite an experience.
Next it was off to the final but as we approached GZ we realised this may not be easy as there were muggles everywhere. After having a brief look we had an idea of where it might be but decided that returning at a quieter time may be wiser so we returned at sunrise this morning.
And what a great decision that turned out to be. There was no one around on this quiet Sunday morning so we could enjoy the peace and tranquillity and really soak in the atmosphere. This is such a beautiful and amazing part of New Zealand.
We made a quick find of the cache and love the camo. Very cleverly done.
This is our 100th and final stop on the Geotour which has taken us from the top to the bottom of the country to such a wide variety of places, many off the beaten track in areas we would never have known existed. And we have learned so much history through the well researched cache descriptions.
Thanks to all the COs and particularly to Injeanious for this final cache and for making the end of our journey so special.
A well deserved favourite point.

Arrived in Kaikoura to collect the TMGT caches and find the new Lab caches.
I visited Fyffe House for the Lab cache not realising that this Multi began here too.
It wasn't until I was around the corner at WP2 that I realised. Back for a second visit and the numbers all fell into place.
Tricky at the final. A few people going in and out. A very nice hide and I remembered to get the code this time - Yay.

(# 5995). Day 2 of my South Island odyssey. Today is getting caches from Blenheim to Kaikoura. The weather was decidedly average with mainly light drizzle interrupted by heavy rain. It's the first time I have driven along the coast since the earthquake. I can now appreciate the carnage that occurred. Even how much the seabed rose around Kaikoura. A quick find after gathering the required information. Everything in order. TFTC
Did not realise there was 2 notice boards at way point 2 -so was having to scratch the old brain until I opened my eyes.
Final calculated quickly. There was a lot muggles at the final but they did not seem interested in what I could be doing as they chatted.
TFTC and all the work placing and maintaining the geo tour caches.
All are interesting and it is good to learn more about the history of our country.

Day 9 of my 2020 NZE (New Zealand Experience).
(My apologies for the delayed logging but I'm in catch-up mode)
Seeing as I can't be in America right now, I'm touring around the South Island instead. During my time here I am aiming to find as many of the TMGT caches as I can (preferably all 41) and also as many Virtuals, Earthcaches and Letterbox Hybrids as possible, plus any Trads or others that will fill a hole in my D/T grid, my Jasmer grid, or else the last 3 remaining Hidden Dates on that grid.
Having arrived at my rest a few km short of Picton last night in darkness, today's plan was to get to Picton and then work my way back along the coast ending up somewhere near Kaikoura tonight. It's a journey I had made on my very first day visiting the South Island back in 1988, and I was keen to do it again and also see for myself what has happened to the coastline after the Earthquakes almost 4 years ago. That was a hell of a night, even for me some 150km away at the time.
By now it was after dark, so I wasn't sure how my searching would go, but I was still keen to grab some of the TMGT caches as I got to Kaikoura before I settled down for another night in the campervan. Arriving right by GZ, I casually walked over to the calculated final location under the gaze of a few diners.
But I played it cool and just chilled there for a few minutes and pretended to be messaging on my phone. When I was sure I wasn't being observed, I looked for the cache and found it immediately which was a relief. No problems with any aspect of it, so once signed the cache was replaced exactly as found.
Thanks for placing this cache.

We headed out yesterday to answer some questions and try to book in to the local establishment. Who would have thought a pub in Kaikoura would be fully booked on a Wednesday night?
GZ was a bit muggly so we decided to go find some dinner instead (Groper Garage was great).
Today we returned to GZ at a quieter hour which was a good job as I searched and searched and searched. *SUCH* and idiot! It was in the first place I searched (somewhat ineffectually). A lesson in a proper look, not just moving things around a bit.
Eventually I signed the log, got the code, and popped it all back. Nice one.

That was a bit of fun. Got to see some seals sunning themselves at the wharf, and pick up a few trades along the way. Good walk for our wagging tails, coming along on a TMGT quest, currently northbound.

#18091. The coords were soon derived, but then I made a bungle putting them into the GPSr, which was taking me to an unpromising-looking location about 60m from GZ). Luckily Troodles didn't have butter fingers, and we were soon in the right place, where Troodes made a quick find. TFTC.
Today is the last day of StreetWalkerNZ and my 3 day weekend trip to Kaikoura and the plan was to find as many of the remaining unfound caches in Kaikoura in the morning then start heading home to Christchurch, with a detour or two en route.
After a bit of squinting, we got the info at WP1, then at WP2 after finding the cache there. After a bit of a hiccup at the final (SW had entered the co-ords incorrectly), the cache was quickly found. Another nice hide. Love the view from here. TFTC.

Such an amazing way to show case New Zealand's History for us and also overseas visitors. So as My week in the South Island greatly changed I decided a wee roadie trip was to unfold on TMGT caches plus a few others along the way from Bluff to Picton via Coast to Coast. Very scenic and fab weather at this time of the year. Most interesting caches with some a REAL Challenge but so much fun. Many thanks to all CO's and I'm very pleased that ALL smiles on the South Island Series is now complete. Wee Roadie ended up being 3000km's of pure fun yahooooo.
Roaming around the South island attending a few meetings and doing TMGT and any other caches nearby. The Fyfe Cottage is closed for repairs so it was rather difficult to get the number from the plaque. Fortunately Mr S had his big Nikon camera with him and was able to get a picture and enlarge it enough to read the numbers required. We had no problem at the 2nd waypoint and Mr S said he felt a bit conspicuous at the final but he found the cache which is all that mattered. Mrs S lent a hand with this one.
Thanks for another TMGT Injeanious. Have a Fav for bringing us here.

Found with friends while visiting Kaikoura for the day. Easy to find Waypoint one today and then we enjoyed lunch nearby. Tftc!
Had trouble with the plaque legibility but worked it out in the end. Not too many muggles at this time of morning but enough to have to act strange haha. Tftc and walkies
I started my great and unique round trip over the South Island in Christchurch.
My first major stopover was at Lake Tapeko - here I hiked up to Observation Mountain.
I then planned two days in Mount Cook NP with some unforgettable hikes. My big goal was the Mueller Hut - on a super strenuous hike I reached it.
I continued my journey over the lonely Danseys Pass to Dunedin.
Afterwards I drove along the Southern Scienic Route via Invercargill to Manapouri for some days. On this route I visited many sights and enjoyed the beautiful nature again and again.
I already booked a tour to the Doubtful Sound in advance - another highlight on my tour.
Afterwards I drove on to Queensown and Wanaka. From there I continued over the Haast Pass to the lonely Jackson Bay with storm and heavy rain. Afterwards I drove along the west coast always in pouring rain.
The rain stopped the whole west coast, but I had good rainwear with me. Only high up in Nelson the sun shone again.
Soon I reached the east coast again in Picton and Blenheim and the sun was shining again.
After a few days I travelled back to Christchurch via the beautiful town of Kaikoura.
At the end of my round trip I spent a few more days in Christchurch and its surroundings.
I visited many geological sites and found many caches on my round trip. In Rangiora I visited an event.
I travelled 3418 km and take home a lot of positive experiences.
Thanks to many beautiful caches I was also shown unique locations, historical sites and geological features.
I am overwhelmed by the fantastic and ever changing nature on the South Island of New Zealand - I will definitely come back.
Many thanks to all owners

Day Five Of Our Journey to South Island with Squirrel Nutcase
Left Christchurch for a cruisie drive to Blenheim picking up a freshly cooked grayfish on the way. Lots of stop start roadworks on the way but the scenery out way'd the road works.
Mission today was to complete the last of TMGT caches in the South Island.
With mission completed it's now time to to sit down with a beer and a wine and settle into our accommodation at Bleinheim.

With Fap and Gap... Late last year, we started to plan for a trip to the South Island - The goal was to complete the TMGT trail.
Christchurch - Picton - Blenheim: We were closing in on the end of this adventure, and we knew what lay ahead - A long drive with many caching possibilities... We drove from Picton to Christchurch for the 2015 Christchurch Mega, and that journey almost took two days. We didn't have that luxury. A plan was hatched to only focus on the TMGT caches and to find Fap some crayfish. As had been the routine, an early start was necessary...
We hadn't really cached in Kaikoura before, but it was an opportunity to see how the earthquake changed the landscape, and how the community has recovered... We received a lot of intelligence regarding this cache - right down to how to approach the final. This information proved invaluable, resulting in a quick find despite a busy ground zone. Thanks Injeanious and TFTC.

I quick search at the right location then we moved to expand our search when someone that worked here came over and told us we were looking in the right place to begin with. I'm glad he was informed as I always looks a little suspicious. Thanks for the multi was great fun!
Last day of our short break in Kaikoura. We had already worked out the numbers so headed to GZ to find the cache. Good hide! Fortunately there was no one around to see me rummaging through the rocks! TFTC.
What a fabulous idea to share the history of our great country with both visitors and locals. We are slowly chipping away at the series.
After an overnight in Greymouth we headed over to the other side of the Mainland on the TMGT trail.
We soon located the required info and headed to GZ and immediately wondered if we had the correct location. A quick search between muggle glances and the cache was found TFTC.

Team BOP on another crazy mission! Labour Weekend 2019 - flights were booked, plans were made - Waitangi Weekend certainly came around fast. The goal here in the South Island was a combination of Jasmer caches, CANZ Caches, some high favourites and of course - the 41 TMGT caches we’ve got left after clearing the North Island last month.
This tour has been so much more then a challenge or compulsion. The historical significance alone has made it worth the journey and I truly thank all the CO’s for helping to make this happen. TFTC, see you at the Mega

#7767. I have a meeting in Blenheim next week so decided to add a few extra days to the trip and rent a car so I can pick up the Marlborough TMGT caches. So flew over early on Saturday morning and heading south today to do the Kaikoura section of the tour. Its a nice day but lots of fog and haze around on the trip south although it was sunny and warm on the Kaikoura Peninsula. Headed down to collect information for the TMGT multi. The warning signs by the outside gate were off-putting but no workmen were about. Near the first waypoint I decided not to cross the house fence. Instead used the camera on my phone to snap the plaque and enlarging the image could read the number. The other information was soon gathered and parked down at Seal Point carpark I did the maths and realised exactly where it was hidden. Hmm that will be tricky. The place was very busy but luckily no one was exactly at GZ. So sat down and after checking a few options I soon had the cunning hide in my hands. Signed the logbook and returned the cache where found. Thanks Injeanious for the cache. Favourite awarded for the series and the one I enjoyed the most.
We are spending today in Kaikoura, finding TMGT caches, earthcaches, a couple of solved puzzles, and a few trads along the way.
This area has certainly changed from when we were last here about 3 years ago. We approached Fyffe Cottage and it took us a little while to spot the plaque we needed. Once we did we took a pic to enlarge it to be sure we had the correct numbers. No issues with the other number we needed from the sign. We worked out the final location, which seemed plausible, and made our way there. There were not many people around, so we were able to check a couple of possible spots without looking too odd. Pleased to come up with the goods after a bit of rummaging. More interesting local history and photos, thanks. Favourite point added.

Last day in Kaikoura so early morning sneak into GZ Final to sign log. Another sneaky hide.

Ok I take back all my previous observations.
Called in while doing a 12km walk around the peninsula from the bottom of Tom’s track in town in one huge loop.
With no one around or working here today I went past the locked gate to the entrance and was able to grab ABC.
I then continued on to collect DEF. Worked out the coordinates of the Final while waiting to return Jimmy Armers.
**Bugger that! I’ll get the Final later.**
So upon completion of my 5-hour epic walk I visited GZ but even on a Sunday evening this place is far too muggly for me. Another time I think, but not today.

Travelling with my dad and his wife who is visiting from the UK, there were on thhe whale watching boat, which I have done a couple of times, so I was waiting for my whale flight, decided to grab a couple of caches in the meantime. I saw that people had been having problems getting the number from the first waypoint, but decided to give it a go anyway, walked up to the front of the property, ignoring the closed signs, no one seemed to be around at lunchtime so walked up to the gate leaned over and took a photo of the number to confirm the number I thought I was seeing. Drove to the next waypoint and soon had those numbers. Headed to GZ, no way, how was I going to find this, anyway, made myself at home on the bench and had an explore in between people watching me, had the right idea from the start, just took a while to put my hands on it. 20 January 2020 06:28. Every day on this 5 day adventure along the length of the South Island, I have had to backtrack to tidy up a cache I'd not completed from the previous day's list.
I gathered the info last night on a beautiful summer evening. Fortunately, although the house is closed for repairs, it is possible to spot the plaque and (just about) read the numbers from the safe side of the fence. The second set of numbers were also quickly located, and the check sum added up, so that was encouraging.
Once the loaction was calculated, it was a quick drive, but then I abandoned the attempt as there were far too many muggles directly overlooking GZ to give the area more than a cursory glance. Even the more unusual muggles pictured were insufficient distraction...
However, one of the advantages of staying in a backpacker s is that people are up and moving early, so I also got my axt together and headed over this way before anyone was about, and was rewarded with a quick find. TFTC, a fascinating bit of history, now to find somewhere that is open and serves coffee....

Fyffe House is a construction site at the moment with all the warning signs and workmen about. I came back after business hours but couldn't get numbers off plaque.
Was looking around and people giving me funny looks and was in a rush so had to stop. Shame left area now
This proved problematic for us. Couldn't see the numbers on the plaque as signs all around, do not enter! Got as close as I could for a photo but could only make out first number. Went off for coffee and checked the photo. Could be...decided to try WP2 and found details needed. Bingo it all matched up so fingers crossed headed to final. So busy! It is a little less obvious with a child poking around but still. I decided to leave it didnt want to expose the final in such a busy place. Already had brief conversation about the wind with muggle as he exited the premises. No time to hang around as ferry to be on later that night. 1 of 3 South Island TMGT I was unable to complete.
I headed down to Kaikoura from Blenheim today. The main purpose was the Geo Tour Caches. Found a few others along the way as well. A most enjoyable road trip despite the slightly inclement weather. That had an upside as most of the places with caches were deserted. Got to GZ and yay lots of people nearby, but no one in the immediate vicinity, a few stealthy moves and I was holding something of interest. Some interesting history here . Thanks for being part of the Tour. Cheers and TFTC
I collected the information and got to GZ, I looked at where the GPS was pointing and thought surely not I must have made a mistake so went and sat on some rocks to recalculate. My calculations where correct so I figured I might have to give it a miss, definately not a cache to get at this time of the evening. As I walked back to the car I was approached by rattll, they had sussed out the location of the cache but were unable to approach. We stood chatting for a bit before deciding to try again later. I headed back in town to get some food but just missed the Why Not Cafe closing time so thought I'll go back if I can't get it then I'll have to plan another trip down here. There were 2 people sitting there then I realised it was rattll so parked up and went over where the cache was handed to me with instructions where to return it. Nice to meet you both rattll. Thanks for an interesting cache Injeanious

This area was buzzing with muggles today. With the final co ords sorted, we made our way to GZ, where muggles were sitting right near we wanted to be. We'd gotten a hint from a previous finder as to what we were looking for so knew there was no way we could search without being seen. As we were about to drive to another cache, to return to this one later, we noticed the tell tale signs of a cacher approaching (actually the lanyard and t-shirt gave it away) so we got out to say hello - lovely to meet you.
The muggles were still there so we each moved on. We started looking for a cache further down (which appears to be missing) and then noticed the muggles had moved away from GZ, so made a bee-line for it before anyone else could get there. We tried to look as casual as we could and eventually spotted a glint of colour so after a quick muggle check, made the grab. As we were finishing up we saw paddlechick (hope that's your name) approaching again so passed her the cache and told her where it came from. This would have been very tricky at this time of day had we not had the extra clue from a friend. Such a busy spot.
Thanks for setting this up Injeanious

I couldn't get close to fyffe house as it was very busy with a private event being held. I note that it's closed for repairs at the moment but hopefully that won't stop me finding the required info another time.
Found on the way home to Christchurch. Enjoyed this cache, and the final was harder to find than expected. Thanks so much.
Heading back south after a great few days caching around Blenheim. We collected the numbers quickly, but it took a while to collect the final. Lost of bikes and absolutely everyone was there. At one point we managed to position ourselves in a suitable spot to grab the cache. TFTC!!
I had visited this area before and remember about the whalebone piles of Fyffe house. Thanks though for all the information on this cache page, it's really interesting. I hadn't realised just how quickly the whale numbers were depleted. Unfortunately it wasn't until many years later that humans suddenly realised there were not infinite numbers of animals on earth. Thanks also for the Injeanious hide .
Found on a road trip from Christchurch to Picton. It was fascinating exploring the two historic locations. Like others, I was confronted by muggles near GZ so had to use my best stealth moves to first spot, then retrieve, the cache without being busted. TFTC
Cache has been checked, all in good order (although a little battered by the wind)
Down south with boneybruce picking up TMGT caches and other interesting ones along the way. Almost had to DNF this one as I couldn't get close to the house to get the info from that waypoint - the house is closed for repairs and it is a construction site with builders and all sorts around. Not to worry, got the info from the other waypoint and made some guesses and used some intuition to find my way to the final, which luckily all was quiet and it was an easy find. TFTC!!!

The hardest part of this was retrieving it as so many peering eyes watching. A guy even stood right next to me to 'look at the water'! It was super awkward holding the scroll in my hand trying to look casual! Loved the history I learned with this adventure! TFTC
We checked out Fyffe Hse and Jimmys place to gather the info for this multi. Its around lunch time and muggles a plenty here so we go check out another cache up the hill. With that sorted we come back. Still busy but got for a quick snag. Tagged it round the corner then a quick replacement hopefully with out being spotted. Cheers. Great write up on cache page. Cheers

Toby, The Seagnoid and I are off exploring to Kaikoura again today. Its an easy day of mostly P&Gs as TS is the walking wounded at the moment, and not walking much, but can play navigator on this trip. So lets go! A great day with many stops on the way we usually drive past to greener pastures for TS.

Taybeedragon wanted to go to Kaikoura and collect all the caches along the way, and invited me along as navigator. Why not - I have a free weekend, and there are a few new ones along the way. The only snag is that I tore my thigh muscle 4 days ago, and walking is quite painful. Luckily they are all P&Gs, except one that is a 200m walk - I threw the crutches in as well.
Last stop of the day. We had arrived a little earlier, solved the final coords , which were further away than I had expected, I had to do a recheck of my figures, but the final did make sense once we arrived. Alas the muggle load was too high, so I aborted the find and we headed up the hill to find Life on the Edge instead. Alas, that was the last cache on our list, so back down here again. Muggle load much the same, but as we had worked out where it was, the dragon when for a quick grab while I kept an eye out. Signed the log, grabbed the code word, wait, wait... go! and the cache was returned.
Another excellent write up, gets a favourite from me. I love history caches!

Well another trip to the South Island and it was going to be a big trip, this trip was going to evolve, work, socialising, caching and some major travel with some spectacular places and some major distances to get to. Day 6 of 9 ...............
Day 6 involved me leaving my accommodation as early as possible and going around from Ashburton and picking up a few TMGT caches as well as a few others that along the way. Also the aim is to try and make my way back up the South Island and making it to Nelson for the night.
After finding GC8CV64 - TMGT Te Taumanu o te Waka a Maui (Marlborough), it was time to go and get the next TMGT cache that I wanted to find today. I decided that I would park on the Esplanade and was able to find a safe parking spot and then it was just a matter to go and gather all the required information and then back to the car to work out where GZ was.
The walk to the final GZ didnt take long, and arriving at GZ. I was so glad that there were no muggles nearby and I decided to read the hint and there wasnt too many spots that the cache could be and I soon spotted something and I soon realised that it was the cache.
Managed to retrieve the cache, opened, retrieved the code and signed the logsheet and then it was time to return the cache back to where I got it from. Thanks Injeanious for placing this cache here and for bringing me to this spot. TFTC TNLNSL (14877), what a clever and cheeky hide.
Now it is time to go back to my car and start making my way out of Kaikoura ..............

I've visited both the location many, many times over the years for caching as well as just visiting. As I was gathering the numbers a workman came over to see what I was doing because he had observed several people doing the same. I told him and he knew what geocaching was as he had a friend that used to do it. Then he told me he had found a plastic box while working here and took me over to show me. He couldn't believe his eyes when he saw that several people had found it recently - one because of how overgrown it had been and secondly because he has been wotking there everyday. He decided the visitors must've come at night. Quite an interesting visit. Nice link with the final too and neat hide. A favourite for an excellent all round multi thanks Injeanious. TFTC # 14,997

We enjoyed this short multi and had no problem with the calculations. Another beautiful spot, with a lot of interesting information. Thankfully not too many muggles at GZ. Closest was a man spraypainting red lines on the ground and he wasn't the least interested in us. A clever little hide but located quickly. TFTC

This is the second Kaikoura TMGT cache we tried to find. As our eyesight is not what it once was we could not make out what the numbers were on the plaque, so I took a photo and zoomed in. Soon had the numbers and off to the second way point. As we arrived we noticed a couple of freedom campers nearby but as we were only gathering information there was no problems with having them near GZ.
We had been to Fyfe house with GK's old dad last year and had a very in-depth personal tour, which was very interesting.
The numbers were soon worked out and we headed to find the cache. A Sunday evening at dinner time on a warm evening is not necessarily the best time to find this one. Luckily there is a seat nearby for me to sit and make a phone call while I sussed out what GK needed to do to pick up the cache. There was a speck of colour showing that indicated which corner to go to so he had a 'shoe problem' as he picked it up and passed it to me to sign.
The log was signed and then discreetly returned as we found it.
Thanks for the cache and thank you for the smiley
