Logs
Out and about today poking around Mt Major. The views are spectacular, and the day is perfect for a leisurely stroll. Have added a new log as the old one was very wet. Thanks for placing this cache here for me to find. All good here. Now, onto the next one for the day. TFTC
Shepparton is an area that we often drive through but has never been a destination. This Kings birthday long weekend we made it our destination to tick off some caches in the area Gps was 14m out, after widening the search I was pumped to find it, only to discover the log was soaked Tftc
Cache located by ScottyL78 from a distance back.
Lots of laughs as we almost tripped along the way.
Beautiful view from up here.

i'm at orientation at the unimelb dookie campus and we came up to mt major for a hike so we had to stop and find this one! very cool container but have to say the logbook was soaked and we couldn't sign it. TFTC!! a favourite from us )))
I like the container - creative and appropriate for this cache. Unfortunately the log book is waterlogged and I was unable to log my find. I’m up this way quite often and will attempt to add another log book and a new snap lock bag.
Quick find on a beautiful but windy day.
Cache and log is wet so may need some maintenance.

A nice evening for a walk we thought. TBS had packed the mozzie repellent (thank goodness) and snacks.
After completing a couple of multi’s on our way up to the top, we set out to grab a few traditionals.
The gps wasn’t being to friendly so we expanded our search. Soon after the cache was in hand.
Nice one!

As the weather looked good, I thought tonight was a great night to head back up Mt Major and grab a couple of caches that I hadn't managed to grab on my last couple of visits. jo2022nz is a relative newcomer to Geocaching and since returning to Shepparton from New Zealand had not yet ventured back up Mt Major so tonight was the night. jo2022nz grabbed most of the caches I already had as we made our way up the mountain. Although the GPS failed to settle this cache was soon in hand. We collected a few more caches in the vicinity of the summit before settling in to watch a beautiful sunset. Then we hightailed it down the mountain before dark. Thanks TeamBGF for this cache and the whole Major Walk Series.
With the rest of the family in Sydney and a busy few weeks coming up at work I decided last week to have a day off to go caching. Looked at the map and initially thought about Shepparton but then saw an intriguing collection at Mount Major so that became my target. Picked what would be a sunny day (was raining when I left Albury but was fine most of the day - though very windy). In the end a successful day with 26 caches found and one DNF. Turned out to be a Team BGF day.
Last one up the top and my phone died about 3 metres out. Saw a lone walker near the summit but no problems while I going this quick cache (they passed me on the way down as I scoured the quarry again. Pity I couldn’t bring the geohound - this would have been a perfect walk for him. But lots of sheep up the top ?probably why the site is so weedy). Still a great walk and a really enjoyable day.

Finished work and thought we had a couple more hours still up our sleeve so we thought we’d come and make a visit to Mount major absolutely beautiful stunning day for a walk TnT
Quick find. Out and about on trusty treadles aka the MTB as I heard Mt Major is fun for riding. I don’t mind uphills but it’s not really my style of terrain - still a change of altitude and fab views of where I’ve just driven from! with beaut panoramic views of home base. Buffalo looks impressive and there’s plenty of snow on the peaks. Apart from skittish sheep, no muggles today. Cache locate and mission accomplished. Now it’s off to Shep with a load of boxes for #1 daughter who has moved there so I’m crystal balling plenty of visits. TFTC and the fun!
I was in Dookie for a road ride, but also brought the MTB for a quick look at the Mt Major MTB trails. It looks like it has been a long while since anyone was looking after the MTB trails. In many places they are barely discernible and I took plenty of detours along sheep tracks without knowing that I had deviated off the MTB tracks. So I won't be coming back here on the MTB. But the views were spectacular and made the climb worthwhile.
While at the summit I wondered if there were any caches around and sure enough there were. This is the only one I grabbed as I was passing it on my way around the summit trail. TFTC.

Continuing our fun day out with locus cache, Rex the geodog, Kernal Cache, catnap777 and dalerious, Kernal Cache was the finder here.
A perfect day to be on top of the mountain, sunny and a pleasant breeze.
Thanks for placing the caches up here TeamBGF, every cacher should get up here at least once in their lifetime.

Lucky to have a few days by the river at Yarrawonga, today our GPS'r headed us toward Shepparton in search of a few caches, we only got as far as "The Major" before we were surrounded by hidden treasure.
We were right into the walking now, mostly on the capeweed carpet!
Satellites today had our GZ 12m WNW of where we found the cache.
Thanks Team BGF for placing caches in such interesting locations.

Walking around this great part of the world was a pleasure. The weather today was quite warm for Easter. My thanks goes to to my host dalerious, and the cache owners for providing and maintaining these caches. A fun day in more ways than one, and one Easter that l will never forget. Cache found in good condition.
Even using a different entrance point to the parking co-ords on the cache page, there was still plenty of walking to do on this very blowy day. Giving this one a favourite point for the innovative cache container. SL at 10.21am and making better time now because these mountain bike tracks are not as steep. #7346 TFTC Team BGF
Found this on the way to other parts of the hill. Covered a fair few km I think, Great views! Thanks again
BettyBoo3747, Howjen567 and I took off for Mount Major to complete (for Howjen and I) the series on the Mount.
Surprisingly, we were the only one on the Mount today.
Bettyboo did a clean sweep of all caches here.
We also did a few caches in the way home including the Winton Historic Adventure Lab series.
It is interesting to see so many MBTracks here when the sign down the hill is forbids mountain Bikes!
We will have to get a map of the tracks, and give them a go.
A nicely themed cache container.
Thanks, Robmc.

#17474. It has been a while since I have been out caching and today Robmc, Howjen567 and I made an attack on Mount Major. Rob and Howard had done some of these back on 6th July but this was my first time here. We arrived at the carpark at 9.30am and were back again in 4 hours and 20 minutes. This included a few long side treks and a decent lunch break at the top. We were the only ones here today which surprised me as most people have had to contend with many walking muggles. Fortunately I had a walking pole but even so I found the downhill back to the car rather difficult. Walking is most definitely not a favourite sport for me. Give me a bike any day.
When we finally reached up here, up top I thought how good it would be to be able to ride around up here, but didn't realise until we got home that we actually could. Well, that would probably have made things quite a bit easier. Anyhow this was a very nice hide here and fits logically of course.
Thanks Team BGF

Another wonderfully creative cache container. Thanks for making the hike up this hill much more enjoyable. Thanks Team BGF for the cache.
Found this cache as part of the afternoon's outing on the mountain to find all 13 caches as it stand to date. More great views and plenty of mugglers aka sheep here. Plenty of towers too, but didn't see any bike riders. Love all the thought and creativeness put into your caches Team BGF including this one. TFTC.
I remember seeing a few of these get published a few months back and thinking I’d like to get over to check out the area at some stage. Then lockdown 2.0 happened and I forgot about them.
After collecting a number of the wonders of the world souvenir challenge tokens recently I then discovered the final two I needed happened to be on the Mt Major series. I spoke to the wife and we hatched a plan. Today wasn’t supposed to be to wet or cold so we set out from Wangaratta just before lunch.
We ate lunch in the car park before setting off up the hill at 12:18pm. I hadn’t even counted the caches up there, we mostly wanted to just get outside in the fresh air. After arriving at the tower we spent a lot more time off track for the rest of the day. The landscape is covered in thick knee high cape weed!
I don’t think we took the most efficient route around up top but we made it fun.
After leaving the summit multi the rain hit us. We headed for a group of trees to shelter from the wind and rain but it didn’t help much. It was cold wind and being wet didn’t help.
We decided it was only going to be brief so we pushed on up the hill to the road and this cache. There was talk of this being the last one before heading back to the car....
Fortunately we found and signed quickly at GZ.

Nope. I got sucked into taking a mountain bike up to the top of a hill in a different MTB Park for a FTF only a week ago and I wasn't falling for that one again, especially having to wear a face mask the whole way this time.
I hiked up this time too but even without carrying a pushbike again the sun had just about beaten me and the cache was found under lamp light.
I was also beaten by another cacher and by nearly a month even though the cache was only published in the morning of my adventure. [:o]
Congratulations to chook&toon for what I can only assume was a very lucky random find.
TFTC Team BGF, a cleverly re-cycled container and another spectacular view even in lost light.[^]

Doh!
I cant believe I was up here just yesterday scribbling my name in Major Look Again (among others) making the most of the last mask free/optional day for who knows how long. [:o]
Oh well, I was always going to come back here anyway. [^]

So walking around Mt Major and geokid says 'there's a good hiding spot. Reckon there's a geocache on there?' and there was. So no ftf but a very happy geokid.
