In the night afternoon sun, this was a beautiful walk. It was interesting to read about the logjams and find was quick here. Thanks Tankengine Domsky
Certainly an interesting location. When I first pulled up I thought it was a shallow crossing, but with a jump in the middle. Interesting feature to help the fish. Thanks for bringing me here.

So a funny thing happened to me on the way to this cache....
Have you ever wondered what happens when the SOS button on Garmin inReach is pressed? No, me neither. But I found out today.
My inReach is an older model, the SE edition which is about the same size as the Garmin Explorer. It's got an SOS button recessed on the front panel that's got a sliding lockout switch to prevent accidental activation.
The inReach sits (off, unless I'm sufficiently off-piste to warrant it running for tracking & texting) in my backpack all the time; apparently with the continual loading/unloading of pens and muesli bars, the lockout switch has moved ever so slightly. Today this meant that a pen in my backpack was able to press and hold the SOS button, switching the inReach on and sending out an SOS - all while I was driving out of southern Canberra and down to Tharwa.
From the Garmin in the back of the Subaru, my SOS signal went via the Iridium satellite network to the International Emergency Response Coordination Centre, who tried to call me from Montgomery, Texas, 6 times on my mobile. Of course mobile reception's a bit bad near Tharwa, and additionally I have unknown callers blocked. No calls for me!
The IERCC then contacted Australian Search and Rescue (part of AMSA) in Canberra who also tried to call me, then cthey alled my wife and advised her that the SOS signal was (1) activated - did she know where I was and what I was doing? and (2) moving on the road near Tharwa. Apparently the inReach broadcasts is position continuously in SOS mode.
When I had enough signal I was able to retrieve all these new voicemails and realised what was going on. Stopping the car I found the SOS mode activated on the inReach - which takes a lot of button pressing to cancel - but the good news is that it then sends a 'cancel' signal off to the IERCC.
After finding enough mobile signal I then called AusSAR back and confirmed I'd activated a false alarm and apologised profusely for the fuss I'd inadvertently caused. They advised that because my details were current, they were able to contact my wife easily who confirmed it was most likely a false alarm.
The irony was I tend to only use the inReach for two-way texting out bush and providing a 'here I am' breadcrumb every 10 minutes for the family to see where I am - I hadn't really bought it for the SOS feature, as I have a (also registered) PLB for 'real' emergencies.
But great to know the system works. Tail between my legs, I popped off to get on with geoaching.
This renewed cache was quickly found in its new hiding spot.
Thanks for replacing, Tankengine!

Cache replaced in a slightly new location. The old location was buried alive!
GOOD TO GO!!!
GOOD TO GO!!!
A very pretty walk along the western bank of the river today.
Although this wasn't today's main objective, I still poked around the blackberry and rocks for quite some time before calling it quits and moving on.
I suspect the cache will still be in place, but it was too tricky for me today.
Thanks, Tankengine! (and BTW good views of yet another logjam just downstream!)

Not quite so lucky as Logjam I, but with the high water levels we weren’t able to conduct a more thorough search. If it was above the water line we simply missed it. Not ready to call it a DNF as our search was somewhat restricted. Maybe another day.
I could not find this one. Maybe it has been swept away in the flooding. Beautiful afternoon by the river though!
Walked around avoiding the blackberries and looked in every spot we could think but didn't find anything
Out to Booroomba for an event this morning and a few caches afterwards. Took the opportunity while in the area to search out a few of the caches out these ways, nice area to visit and the river is crazily full... its amazing to see so much water.
The grass in the area is so long but okay to get down to this cache! With the amount of water flowing at the moment there are no logjams, just water...lots and lots of fast flowing water!!!
Thanks for the cache Tankengine!

This was so much easier and more pleasant than the last one. It has clearly been submerged recently....but these containers are the best!
Find #4637
Lockdown has bought a totally different approach to caching with the introduction of homework! Much time for homework in fact. Therefore many more puzzles solved, both as a solo and collective effort. Thanks to my fellow geo buddies for assistance when needed.
And in between there are still some traditionals, though not nearly as many of them left these days
Logs all in good condition unless otherwise noted.
Thanks to Tankengine for putting out and maintaining all of these caches for our enjoyment!

#4049 With the co ords alittle out, cache was found nice and secure. Easy walking track from the car park.
Quick find on a beautiful long October weekend. Good hint, cache nice and dry. Found with TheSkype and Duff. Tftc
Searched for a while, but eventually gave up when the blood loss from the Blackberries was getting to high. Bit jealous of all the people who spotted it straight away.
Thanks though for the information on the barriers. I had been wondering what they were for.

Loki picked the hard way to this cache, only finding the nice open road on the way out. Had to retrieve this one from its underground lair but thanks to classic TE attachment device it wasn't too hard to spot. TFTC
So close but due to over growth and lots of bees (allergic to them) i had to give up
A bit warm by the time I got here, but wandered along the track to GZ. Cache found all OK in the obvious spot.
Thanks,
Thanks,
A lovely day for an outing and the countryside is looking wonderful after the rain; so green. I can't get enough of the green. As Decrypter and I wandered along the path, a pair of wombats scurried away from us. Lots of feral poppies in bloom here and I took a bunch home to decorate my dining table. The cache was muddy on the outside, but dry on the inside. Cache and log are good. TFTC Tankengine.
This is a pretty looking Jam! I do love walking along interesting rivers. A lovely walk with tikvaNZ, Kittykatch, Joolay, GLISS! Canberrachick, Ruth, Ayekem, Barb2E, StrangeTrousers and Search4 after a River side event. Signed as Kayak Cachers. Thanks for the cache!
What a great afternoon to enjot a walk all g the river. Signed as stamp Kayaking cachers. Tftc
Another find on my pre-event ramble. This one was much easier to locate with a nice approach to GZ. There was a very chatty fisherman on the actual logjam who delayed me a bit but the cache was easily spotted, signed and returned. TFTC.
# 6512 Found after attending the Thaws Barba Q event. Spoilt the serenity of a nearby fisherman while we raucously searched for this one. Signed with a stamp "Kayak Kachers"
Thanks Tankengine

Another TE cache - score. Walking up to do the DSD multi and thought we are going past, lets get them. Signed as Kayak Cachers and included Strangetrousers, Barb2e, Search4, Kittykatch, Nibletricecakes, Aykayam, GLISS! TikvaNZ and CBRCHIC enjoying a lovely walk along the river on a fabulous spring day. TFTC Tankengine all was good with it.
Out caching today with Kayak Cachers after attending the nearby event.

21,304. Found during a mixed day of caching of which some were with minniek.
minniek and I both wanted some caches today, so we had a very early start and headed down to Tharwa for this riverside walk. This was the first for the day, and a nice quick find once at GZ. The cache was recently underwater, but the inside of the cache and the log were completely dry.
Thanks Tankengine !!

Headed out with fitzy_1965 super early this morning so we could go caching and still get me to work on time.
Made it just in time. Thanks TE for another nice find.

I was down this way yesterday but that was for a FTF on another Tankengine cache a little further down the river.
Today, after spending the day studying I decided to get a little exercise and returned to look for this cache and a nearby multi.
This cache was a nice easy find - if I had realised yesterday how easy it was I could have made the find under torchlight as I returned to the car!
TFTC, Tankengine!

We decided to head out for a day of caching on the southside, as we have quite a few to choose from in that area, and collected ALL7 along the way.
We had planned on doing a bit of walking today but had to change our plans because of the closure of the Namadgi park. So we decided to clean up one side of the river and leave the others for another day. A nice stroll, spied a wombat along the trail, who had emerged from his burrow in the later afternoon. A quick find, thanks Tankengine.

I did Logjam I a while ago and as i was out near Tharwa thought I would visit number II. A nice easy stroll and pleasant views. TFTC
Tankengine and I had been out and about on a FTF run. We had done a good few before deciding to call it a day and head home for dinner.
After coming to the last FTF just down from here, I thought I might as well pick this up as we went past back to the car.
The cache was found quickly and log signed. It's a interesting little spot and a nice walk to get to. Tftc Tankengine!!!

Found 27/5/20 just as i was about to give up
Couldn't log at the time and a forgot a pen

Found Yesterday (25/5/20) on a little caching hike in the area. Signed the logbook DSD
I remember finding the first cache in this series, and learnt that these logjams were actually man-made ones to help increase the flow of water! I thought they were literally logs, but no made of rocks instead! Interesting....
So decided to come and find number #2 ! Another good spot along the river and a very well made logjam. The cache was well secured and hidden, you've done well!
Thanks Tankengine

Lovely little spot. Don't forget to take a pen.. We left ours in the car kids loved this find
Lucky to get this one - my GPS was not accurate here. Great to see the water being 'calmed' in such a clever way - have never walked down this side of the bridge. Had a quiet sit in the sun and just took it all in - a fave from me, thanku
I have to agree this logjam was much more impressive. Much to the disappointment of the (literally) whip cracking teens we (CO) arrived just before them. Attached is a pic of appropriate social distancing while they took advantage fishing at the logjam. Thanks for the cache, history and company Tankengine.
After doing a short section of the ALL7 mega trail a nice walk along the river to find these two caches was enjoyable. TFTC Tankengine.
I decide on a little drive out this way as boredom had set it. Nice and quiet on the roads this morning. Another nice little wander down this way and a quick find. I couldn’t believe how little water was in the river.
Thanks TE for the cache

Nice warm day and an almost dry riverbed! Cache located fairly quickly which we were both very grateful for !

This was a lovely spot, but we were only able to do a short search, with no success.
The terrain of the actual location was a bit much for my very eager 3.5yr old. Lots of slipping on gravel and stones, hence the limited search.
The walk there is a nice quite piece of bush on gravel road.
We are new to geocaching, so not sure if we also just didn’t have the right hunting technique.

One day when we get a deluge we will get a chance to see another log jam .
No one around except the crickets at 5.30 pm.
Thanks to Tankengine for the hide and scenic river spot .

Out caching with AngelG27, targeting TE caches. This was our second walk for the day. AngelG27 grabbed Lanyon Logjam I, and then we continued to this one. Cache easily found. This was the first time along here that I haven't seen a wombat. TFTC.

Cache 5473 on 14 Sep 2019.
After some recent quick trips out for caching, I decided it was time for a proper geocaching mission, so TikvaNZ suggested we work towards the event in Bredbo , which suited me just fine! So we planned to grab a few of the newer TE caches and some solved puzzles along the way. All in all, I got 17 caches, 10 of them Tankengine caches, which was more than I bargained for! A bit more walking and fence clambering than I planned, but hey, that is geocaching! Start at 0730 and home by 1500 - thanks TikvaNZ for a proper day of geocaching!
This cache: we walked along a bit further for this newer cache. My satellite view had me on the wrong side of the track, but TikvaNZ came up with the goods!
Thanks Tankengine for the cache and the fun!

Back today to see another Logjam. Lovely walk mid afternoon and certainly much warmer here than down the far south of the ACT were we could see plenty of snow of the higher peaks.
Interesting logjam feature and interesting info board back near the locked gates. Quick and easy find. TFTC Tankengine.
**Our Day**
We had a fun day walking and cycling into the unknown seeing a variety of vegetation, lots of rock wallabies and plenty of birds, also enjoying some history along the way.
Two walks were completed today. Firstly we walked and cycled over 22.14 km just over 5 hours for a total ascent/descent of a whopping 950 m.
The second walk, in Tharwa, was a warm down to Tankengine’s ‘Lanyon Logjam II’. This was 1.44km return walk from the locked gate taking just 25 minutes with total ascent/descent of 14m. Love all caches with a bit of history and learnings and this one didn’t disappoint.
