We hope you enjoyed exploring and discovering the local history in the communities of Aotearoa New Zealand. The Tuia Matauranga GeoTour has now ended. Thank you to the community for all the great logs, photos, and Favorite Points over the last 30 months. It has been so fun!
(# 7206) On a trip to retrieve the TMGT Geotour caches. Had visited when the cache had gone missing. The CO subsequently replaced the cache and has given generous permission to log. Thanks for bringing me here.
I tried waiting out a muggle enjoying the view by continuing on and completing the Earthcache first. I can't really blame him - it's a gorgeous day and an incredible view.
In town with Mr14, he had a preseason game of football in Basil Park (washdyke). Wholst they were doing their warmups i ducked out for a couple caches before the game.....
Lovely sunny autumnal day...great views. Thanks.
Lovely sunny autumnal day...great views. Thanks.
Muggles at the GZ on first pass, unfortunately they cleared out by the second.
Took a moment to find and it definitely wasn’t where it was suppose to be - seems muggles have found it.
Rehide a bit left of the hint to keep it more hidden.
Thanks for another geotour cache!

I checked in the hinted at spot, but nothing. I then read CC's log and that is where I found the cx. TFTC.
The seat was occupied, so a stroll to the cabbage tree. Nice quick find, cache all good. Tftc and for your input re the TMGT series Ray
What a seat, great views on the harbour, took a few seconds to locate, it was much bigger than anticipated, both container and logbook are in good condition. Thank for placing this here.
Loving this walk. Great to stretch the legs and a quick find. Thank you Jude_E
Just found the cache with my 5 year old daughter and 5 year old nephew, they loved finding the "treasure" as they call it.
We are in Timaru and with the LABs out of the road its time for the GT series. The Seat being our first stop. Cheers
Day 3 - Wednesday 22 December - Lake Pukaki to Timaru, Ashburton. We cached around Tekapo this morning. Mt John road was closed so walked up from the lake. Then headed to Timaru for some TMGT and PWGT. Left aafter dinner to spend the night in Ashburton
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are of on another Geo adventure this time to Mt Cook for 5 days. Met up with Bullertrout and Bro on the way down. Lake Pukaki was fine but Mt Cook was wet and wild with the Hooker Valley being closed due to high winds, so did not stay long. We went exploring Tekapo, Timaru and a round trip to Lake Coleridge. Short trip and very tiring but awesome.

Found the cache way out in the open. Rehid where it looked like it was supposed to be.
Part of a big trip with Taybeedragon to explore Mt Cook. We explored a little of it but there was gale winds, lots of cloud and rain. Some of the tracks had been closed and others were right dodgy given that we did not have our foul weather tramping kit. We had booked to stay for two nights but left the same day. More time to explore Timaru! So now I have been to Mt Cook. Still yet to see Aorangi. Tarketing those pesky GT caches...

On a trip with Ruru_NZ to gather the tour caches needed or in my case not done yet. Should be able to knock off on this trip.
Just as well there was a seat to rest on after the scramble just done. Had place to ourselves though

Day #2 of my Geotour.
A nice walk along this promenade and my third cache. The CO has thoughtfully provide me with a seat to carry out the paperwork. Good views from here.

PThanks RAYZR for the cache. It’s #1517 for us. We found your cache on 3 May 2021. Quick find as the sun set
Very sorry to say, but I would be 90% sure that the cache is missing.
Looked in lots of areas all around to no avail.

#9449. This is the last day of my Easter geotour adventure in the South Island,. Been travelling around with Infoferret since Friday and we have been in North Canterbury, West Coast, inland Otago, inland Canterbury and North Otago/South Canterbury. Now in Timaru and heading north to Christchurch today but have quite a few caches to do around Timaru first before we head up towards Methven. IF had already done the TMGT caches in this area so dropped me off and went to do some adventure labs and get some breakfast and lunch supplies.
I headed along the path and soon found the seat. Nice views out over Caroline Bay and the port in the early morning light. Checked the hint and soon had the cache in hand. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache where found. Gathered the code word. Interesting to read more about the history of this town. Thanks RAYZR for the cache.

I’m stopping in town for a couple of days while I do some work at a couple of our South Island sites and as I’ve never been able to explore bits of Timaru I thought I’d make an early morning start.
Ok so I’m meant to be meeting a colleague in 15 minutes but there’s time enough for one more cache right. Good job it was an easy find.
Thanks RAYZR
