We hope you enjoyed exploring and discovering the local history in the communities of Aotearoa New Zealand. The Tuia Matauranga GeoTour has now ended. Thank you to the community for all the great logs, photos, and Favorite Points over the last 30 months. It has been so fun!
Found yesterday during our explore of Timaru. Not too many people out as it was looking like it might rain
Our Friend met us at the Beach, and she got a lesson in Caching, and it was a quick find.TFTH
1525. 1:12 pm. What a wonderful urban/ seaside Park! A real asset for Timaru. TFTC(with a very helpful hint).
A quick find despite the big tractor mower. There was a seal warning sign out but I didn't see any seals.
In town with Mr14, he had a preseason game of football in Basil Park (washdyke). Wholst they were doing their warmups i ducked out for a couple caches before the game.....
Lovely autumnal day with lots of people around. Nice quiet gz so easy enough to make the find and sign. Last for the moment, time to boost it back and watch the game.
Thanks.

I had a bit more trouble interpreting the hint. I guess it depends on where you stand and how close things are to where you want them to be. Nevertheless, I eventually found the cx. TFTC.
We've just spent the night at Caroline Bay and did this cache in the morning nice and easy!
There were plenty of these trees to choose from. But the obvious one was the winner! I’m not sure which ranks first for the most loved home of caches… fax bushes, agapanthus or cabbage trees? TFTC
Nice quick find, while the weather cleared a bit. Grabbed this as waiting for a muggle to move from the seat where your next one is. cache all good. Tftc and for your input re the TMGT series Ray
Last day of our road trip, we are tired and skipping the multi, as we want to sleep in a real bed and warm place tonight. Nice quick find, visible from 2 meters, so we pushed it a little further, visible from 50 cm now. Both container and logbook are in good condition. Thanks for hiding!
On the hunt for some GTs in Timaru after the Labs. Have come to snag the Cabbabe tree. Cheers
Day 3 - Wednesday 22 December - Lake Pukaki to Timaru, Ashburton. We cached around Tekapo this morning. Mt John road was closed so walked up from the lake. Then headed to Timaru for some TMGT and PWGT. Left aafter dinner to spend the night in Ashburton
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are of on another Geo adventure this time to Mt Cook for 5 days. Met up with Bullertrout and Bro on the way down. Lake Pukaki was fine but Mt Cook was wet and wild with the Hooker Valley being closed due to high winds, so did not stay long. We went exploring Tekapo, Timaru and a round trip to Lake Coleridge. Short trip and very tiring but awesome.

Love Cabbage trees.
Part of a big trip with Taybeedragon to explore Mt Cook. We explored a little of it but there was gale winds, lots of cloud and rain. Some of the tracks had been closed and others were right dodgy given that we did not have our foul weather tramping kit. We had booked to stay for two nights but left the same day. More time to explore Timaru, concentrating on GT caches. So now I have been to Mt Cook. Still yet to see Aorangi.

A quick trip away from the hometown brought us here for an overnight stay. This one was quickly found after a wander around the area. Thanks for the cache

What a lovely area to explore after work. Went out to touch the water and see how cold it was and it was potentially swimmable - although I did not have the correct equipment for such an activity. However, I was prepared for a dash of geocaching. A quick find in a quiet little spot tonight. TFTC. TNLN.
this one is stil there, have left noon charged stones in all that I found. Take if you need good energy
Took a minute or two to move away from the title, and spot the box. I tried to camo it a bit better when I left it. It looks like it was lucky, as the debris nearby suggested a few 100mm of water more, and it may have floated away. TFTC.
Day #2 of my Geotour.
A short drive from the previous TMGT cache followed by a short walk. A quick find too.

Spent the evening here watching the beautiful little penguins so popped down again this morning to look at the nesting boxes. Quick cache, thanks! Photo as I have no pen.
A quick find which was blissful after our two previous ones. Hint spot on, all good with the cache. TFTC RAYZR
#9450. This is the last day of my Easter geotour adventure in the South Island,. Been travelling around with Infoferret since Friday and we have been in North Canterbury, West Coast, inland Otago, inland Canterbury and North Otago/South Canterbury. Now in Timaru and heading north to Christchurch today but have quite a few caches to do around Timaru first before we head up towards Methven. IF had already done the TMGT caches in this area so dropped me off and went to do some adventure labs and get some breakfast and lunch supplies.
I headed along the path and soon found a row of cabbage trees. Yes they are versatile trees. The dry leaves burn very well and make a great fire starting material. Something to remember when you are in wet bush and looking for something to get a warm fire underway. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache where found. Gathered the code word. Thanks RAYZR for the cache.

I’m stopping in town for a couple of days while I do some work at a couple of our South Island sites and as I’ve never been able to explore bits of Timaru I thought I’d make an early morning start.
Even in the Dawn light it was a nice wander through the park. Some early morning walkers held me up here for a few minutes but after that I dived in for a quick find.
Dropped off a TB which had been snagged by a finder today.
Thanks RAYZR

Found while visiting family in Timaru. We went for a walk around this area in Timaru. It has been well set up with the various walking tracks and the boardwalk. Thanks for the cache
I saw someone sitting on the bank a distance away so did the old 'tie my shoelace' trick to make this find, sign the book, then return it without anyone being any the wiser cheers, RAYZR.
TFTC RAYZR, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 4 find(s) of 5 today, making this find #2468

Just had enough phone battery after following a multi around to duck over here and pick up this one. Nice easy hint. TFTC. Back to car to continue my TMGT road trip. In this case very very slightly north. Two more in Timaru.
