After our morning walk in between showers I decided to grab this one even though it had started to drizzle. Least I had a bit of shelter while I found and signed the log. TFTC
Lots of going around and around, but eventually when I went down and checked a logical place, I found the cache straight away.
Too bad people use this area for dumping their rubbish!
Thanks for another Geotour cache!

Quite a bit of work going on round here but I managed to find the cache after checking a few other places. I was surprised to find a blank log but was contacted by the CO just after finding it to say it had been missing and he'd just replaced it. Gold star to him for the super quick maintenance. Went for the wrong hints initially.. to my great relief it wasn't too difficult to find in the end!! Tftc
Quick find while waiting on dinner to be cooked at a nearby takeaway. I often forget about the indigenous culture given the coal and gold history.
Another great cache to get more of the series thank u for the code loving the places we are visiting found with xsaveya on a south island adventure over the christmas period. Sorry for the late log.
#9322. Its Good Friday. The start of an Easter road trip to the South Island to pick up a swag of geotour caches in Canterbury, West Coast and Otago over the extended Easter break. Doing this trip with caching buddy Infoferret as we decided to share the cost of a rental car and fuel plus share the driving with the long distances planned for this trip. We hired a hybrid car and it was a good choice as it was economical but easily made it through all the long distances with no concerns over fuel tank capacity. Today we are heading to Hokitika via Hanmer Springs, Lewis Pass, Reefton and Greymouth (just 25 litres of fuel used for this day).
The daylight had run out by the time we got to Greymouth after spending quite a bit of time doing the adventure lab up at Brunner Bridge. So IF parked the car nearby and we wandered over to GZ. We approached from the wrong side which made searching a bit more difficult. IF had already found this cache but was hazy in her memory about where it was hidden. Finally we descended to a different level and she saw something familiar. I checked and yes there was the cache. Just as well as its getting pretty dark. Signed the logbook and replaced everything as found. Thanks hazedarus for the cache and giving us yet another excuse to stop on the road to Hokitika. Interesting reading the history of the site. You do wonder why people would cross from one coast to other coast on foot to attack a village. Seems a long way to walk for so little gain.

Next cache before lunch. Nice place, great view. Need to remember this stop for next time we are in the area! TFTC
Quick find after my near death experience in cobden cave (worth a little visit, but ne warned its slippy). TFTC
Nice boat ramp with a good view back across the river to some older buildings thanks ...cache all good here
A nice spot for lunch, or to park up for the night. We watched a broad being launched before finding the cache. Thanks for the placement hazedarus
Time for my first of 2 visits over to clear up the TMGT and PWGT caches on the West Coast
All fine here with this cache, noone using the boatramp so I could do my thing without worrying about muggles.
TFTC hazedarus, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 4 find(s) of 13 today, making this find #2473

Wandered over for a brisk walk from the cave. Nice easy find. TFTC. Not much evidence of site remaining.
Found with KCN. Nice and quiet here today although quite a few boats on the river. TFTC
Joined with Victoriousone for some caches on this side of the river. Found these multi’s to do and had them quickly worked out and found. And another one down.
Doing a road trip as I have to wait for my villa to be refurbished. What better way than doing a road trip geocaching. Thanks for placing and maintaining.

In the area for the day today and the TMGT caches are high on the priority list to finish off. A short walk from the nearby TMGT cache, and another quick find here. Signed log, recorded code, TFTC!
Quickly found though had to wait to return it as some boaters were unloading nearby. Nice spit in the shade here. Tftc
I'm in Greymouth for a couple of nights, after hiking the Paparoa Track. I decided to hire a car today to get out and about, explore the area and grab a few caches. Parked near GZ and quickly found the cache here. TFTC!
I found this cache while on a family holiday to the South Island. We had an amazing time covering more than 3000km and seeing some of the very best our country has to offer. We were very fortunate with the weather and enjoyed a wide range of experiences.
Even though it was late in the evening I still had to wait for some muggles to move along before making the find here. Great to tick off another TGGT cache.

Thank you for placing a cache here found with watcache on a south island adventure. TFTC
On a trip to the coast and caching along the way. Lovely spot. Found with everdene22. Tftc
In Greymouth for the weekend with lytteltonwitch. We came with a list - to find the TMGT caches, the Adventure Labs series and any other finds were bonuses.
Thank you for this cache, hazedarus. We were obviously delighted to find it (in the rain).

(# 6192). Day 12 of my South Island odyssey. Today is getting some caches around Greymouth as well as having a good look around. Took a little while but I believe that I found the original container due to the number of logs written in it. Everything in order. TFTC

Arrive in Greymouth on Friday just in time for dinner after a VERY wet trip in from Reefton. This area is a great place, nice and level, so we left Zara here for the whole weekend. It's still raining after dinner so I wait... and wait... and bugger this, dash out for a find. A nice easy find. Later the rain stopped (and never really reappeared for the whole weekend) and so I headed off to the other nearby TMGT. It was then that I remembered that this too is a TMGT, so after finding that one and uploading the codeword, I headed back here for a second find on this one, to get and upload its codeword.
Re the Ngāi Tahu - I am impressed that they took their utu so seriously that they had to cross the entire island!
Taybeedragon and I are off on another weekend's exploring - again! This time to the West Coast. the company owes me some time so we left Friday lunchtime. Lots of rain on the way down, but after that it was a nice cloudy-but-not-rainy weekend. It never rains on the West Coast when I come to visit!

Day 5 of my 2020 NZE (New Zealand Experience).
(My apologies for the delayed logging but I'm in catch-up mode)
Seeing as I can't be in America right now, I'm touring around the South Island instead. During my time here I am aiming to find as many of the TMGT caches as I can (preferably all 41) and also as many Virtuals, Earthcaches and Letterbox Hybrids as possible, plus any Trads or others that will fill a hole in my D/T grid, my Jasmer grid, or else the last 3 remaining Hidden Dates on that grid.
Today was going to be one of my favourite drives, up the West Coast taking in all that wonderfully rugged coastal scenery between Greymouth and Westport. I've been lucky enough to do this route a few times, and it never fails to stir my sense of joy and wonderment.
But before I could get that started, there was the small matter of having to find the 5 local TMGT caches. This was my fourth cache for the day, and took me a while to locate thanks to the plethora of potential hiding spots that fitted the Hint on multiple levels. But in the end I got there and was able to sign the log and replace as found before carrying on with getting to the really fun part of my day.
Thanks for placing this cache.

No-one around and there was a break in the rain so I decided to go for it. Decided this would be the last for today as I really need to keep work clothes slightly respectable and the boots were looking decidedly wet and a little muddy after this. Wet inside first container but log dry. TFTC

There were a few muggles around but they didn’t pay us much attention.
We started searching in slightly the wrong spot but once we looked in the right place it was a nice quick find.
Thanks hazedarus for our 88th find on the Geotour.

Such an amazing way to show case New Zealand's History for us and also overseas visitors. So as My week in the South Island greatly changed I decided a wee roadie trip was to unfold on TMGT caches plus a few others along the way from Bluff to Picton via Coast to Coast. Very scenic and fab weather at this time of the year. Most interesting caches with some a REAL Challenge but so much fun. Many thanks to all CO's and I'm very pleased that ALL smiles on the South Island Series is now complete. Wee Roadie ended up being 3000km's of pure fun yahooooo.
We pulled into the carpark to find quite a few freedom campers parked up. It was about 10.30pm so they had all settled in and we were able to make the short walk to GZ unobserved. Glad we had a torch here as it would have been a lot more difficult.
Last one of an very productive leap years day where we made our target of 26 caches, TFTC.

Spending a couple of days in Greymouth to do TMGT caches and anything else that's around and relatively easy. Another stop on our TMGT drive around Greymouth. CSC camping here but it's curious how a Toyota Rav4 could be self contained. Found the cache, signed and replaced, returned to the geocamper and realised we had not recorded the WORD. Darn, so Mrs S had to go back and get it.
Thanks hazedarus. One more TMGT ticked off our list.

Spending the late afternoon picking up the geotour caches around Greymouth. There were plenty of self-contained campervans in the area when we pulled in, but we were here just for a brief stop to collect this cache. Nobody camping near GZ and we had no problems making the find. Interesting history on the cache page. Thanks.
Another interesting history Pa site. Easy find and a nice picnic table to sign the log on. Alot of camper vans parked in carpark here. Had someone come to gz after we were leaving to perhaps try and figure out what we were up to??.
Found with Mr&MrsNZAdventurer.

Day Four Of Our Journey to South Island with Squirrel Nutcase.
Early start for today with travelling to the West Coast to pick up TMGT caches and any others on the way, then back to Christchurch to pick up up a few more before leaving for Bleinheim the next day.
Country side amazing, will have to come back some day and spend more time in the area.

#17879. There were lots of campervans nearby, but all was quiet at GZ. We made hard work of the search, and I was pleased when Troodles tracked down the cache. TFTC.
With Fap and Gap... Late last year, we started to plan for a trip to the South Island - The goal was to complete the TMGT trail.
Christchurch - Westport (Return): Today's trip was a total unknown. We estimated how long it was going to take to reach our destination, but we had no real idea about actual timing. We set our clocks for 6 AM, but we were up well before then... It was difficult to navigate the inner city streets in the dark, and we probably took a few wrong turns. Finally, the road signs started to point to the West Coast, and we were on the way. The flat Canterbury plains gave way to foothills and the Southern Alps. This is an amazing part of the country...
The area around ground zone had taken on the appearance of a campground. There were campers parked in all directions. Fortunately, there were fewer vehicles by the river, so we parked up and went to work. There are a lot of hint items, and we got waylaid by the most obvious. This one needed a wider look. TMGT cache and code found. Thanks hazedarus and TFTC.

This is the last day of StreetWalkerNZ's and my extended Waitangi Day trip to the west coast, and we were pleased to see the day dawn dry and sunny, especially after the patches of rain yesterday.
There were heaps of camper vans etc in the car park, so we were pleased to see that we were able to search for the cache out of sight. This one took a while to reveal itself as we started on the wrong level. I think we search every other hint object before I spotted the correct one . TFTC.

Making a long weekend out of Waitangi Day exploring the West Coast with Zara Toby, Bullertrout and Bro. Its Waitangi Day today. Exploring Hokitika, Ross, Hokitika George, Lake Mahinapua, Lake Kaniere areas today. Great time and visited some amazing places. On the negative side got a speeding ticket in Hokitika and munched up Zaras nose.

What a fabulous idea to share the history of our great country with both visitors and locals. We are slowly chipping away at the series.

Found on a three day caching journey over to the West Coast. We really enjoyed the challenging hours spent in solving the many puzzle caches and now the signing off on the log books. We had a great spell of weather as we traveled along the many roads in the area. Many thanks to the various cache owners for placing and maintaining their caches. TFTC
Had a great day on the West Coast todya lots of km's walked, grabbed heaps of caches, and had a lot of fun. Many Thanks Bitsprayer
Team BOP on another crazy mission! Labour Weekend 2019 - flights were booked, plans were made - Waitangi Weekend certainly came around fast. The goal here in the South Island was a combination of Jasmer caches, CANZ Caches, some high favourites and of course - the 41 TMGT caches we’ve got left after clearing the North Island last month.
This tour has been so much more then a challenge or compulsion. The historical significance alone has made it worth the journey and I truly thank all the CO’s for helping to make this happen. TFTC, see you at the Mega ????

Checked coords as some people find them a bit off. I found them to be within 3m of GZ proper so it's a pass Also fixed typo in code word.
On holiday with my dad (Hole-in-one2) who is visiting from the UK, nice quick find here with the hint which was great as it was raining. TFTC
On the West Coast with Nosynel and Ethness. Signing logs as JEN. Top approach was best! Too much rubbish from bottom approach. Thanks for the interesting info and the cache.
After tea we came out a caching. Scenic views with a CITO required. below. The insects are now complete. We're stopping for others but targeting the tour ones We had an ice cream in Kumara. After finding Under the Goal Posts and eating a delicious lunch at The Blackball Inn we continued geocaching. We stayed the night Greymouth. Look out my friend Ethness is in town. We have started our road trip with Jude-E. Tripple Trouble. Thanks Hz + Hm for placing this geocache it is find 8:34 PM 8225 for me.

On a road/bike trip with Ms M, heading south.
Time to find a few more GeoTour caches today.
I doubt if I'll get anywhere near the required number but I may as well do what I can when the opportunity arises.
The GPS took me to the wrong place. I read some logs and boxhill suggested that I do a better job of following the needle. Unfortunately that took me closer to the water and even thought there were some rocks down there I knew that the CO wouldn't have put it down there.
Eventually I heard the "found it" call from Ms M. She'd expanded the search area and once in the right area spotted it quickly.

Down to Christchurch for another weekend trip with boneybruce to pick up TMGT caches, and today's mission is to clear out the TMGT caches on the west coast, and pick up a few other interesting caches along the way. Another nice spot visited on the geotour. I had to PAF here as I found a bunch of hint items at the bottom of the bank that looked like they had been cleared out, but the cache is safe and sound in its spot. TFTC!!!

After dropping some of the family off at Nelson Airport I was on the road to Greymouth. My mission was to find the West Coast TMGT caches. Spend the night here (somewhere) and drive back to Takaka early tomorrow morning. Yay mission accomplished. Enjoyed my brief visit, looking forward to coming back again soon. Thanks for the TMGT caches. This took a while to find. I should have trusted my GPS a bit more.

The rain had well and truely set it now which had the GPS jumping around all over the place.
It took us a little while to find the correct hiding place, but at least the rain meant there weren't many muggles around to contend with.
Thanks for setting this up hazedarus

Our aviation cell though last night so we had to pull over and sleep in the car. After driving back to McDonald's this morning to get wifi we realized this was right were we slept okay night.
1 January 2020 14:11. Second find of the day. Muggles aplenty, launching boats, and arriving in campervans. Eventually tracked this down after a conversation with one of the muggles about whitebating. Once he had wandered off again, i could retreive sign and replace this one tftc, in good condition.
