Traveling in style with Mr Marchwood.
No problem with the cache, although I did add another rock once we had signed.
Now for the flash car to do its thing.
Thanks for the cache

Heading up the Goulter with bumandworker this morning finding a few caches on the way.
A short stroll and a quick find.

First stop here as we read the road-end sign and what would or would not be viable. Seems a hope to make it to Mid Goulter, and place a cache there, will not happen and that we will walk most of the way. Easy find here and a good start to the day after all that unsealed gravel and flying dust.
A return back to work after the Christmas break is imminent, 2 weeks have shot past so quickly as they often do and there's never enough time to visit all the people and see all then places in the available time off. I'd missed out on the FTF frenzy that was one Saturday in September as I had something else on that day, but managed to sweep up the 2 subsequent listings as a result of that raid. Despite having climbed Mount Stokes and done a stretch of the Anakiwa Track for the third of fourth time, I was keen for a bit more adventure.
Prior to going on xmas break I'd had a hope of getting off on an overnight tramp to a hut with my youngest daughter who is about to fly the nest at the end of the week. I weighed up whether a trip up Mt Fell/Johnson/Richmond was a possibility but it seemed all that possible 'up' might be a tramp too far! Checking the DOC website for Goulter Road options didn't look too flash either with talk of slips and wash-outs and a trip to their office in Renwick revealed they too were on their holiday break.
So, heartened by this CO's reckoning on a nice walk in to the cache, and some good forecast weather we set off early on Friday morning and parked just past the 2WD option and started walking. 3 and a half hours later we arrived at the hut having had a few breaks and snacks, and found the available caches. A great walk in and when we left the following day after a hut night in the company of a couple of hunters and French fisherman, we only got about 10 kms from the hut and we were picked up by quad and delivered back to the car - yay, win!
Another awesome adventure courtesy of caching, and daughter had an enjoyable time away with Dad too. T F T C BigglesNZ.

While RicardinoNZ and The Seagnoid start hunting, I assist GH6710 with gate duty to get the jalopoly through the gate. Well of course its snagged and tagged by the time we are sorted. Thanks And its another {FTF} Cheers.
Lots of new green boxes up to Goulter Hut are on the Seagnoids radar for today. So its a day out with the boys, piling into GH6710s jalopoly, a 4 door version of Toby, at 7am for a great day out to Goulter, with a few stops on the way. Have been eyeing this road up to explore so Thanks BigglesNZ for this incentive.

It's a nice day, a perfect day for a Toby trip. But after I sent out an invite mid week, I had too many for Toby so Ricardinho.nz, GH6710, Taybeedragon and the Seagnoid all piled into GH's grown up Toby. And here we are at the end of the 2WD rod, 4WD from here on. Yeah right. I shall watch this road with interest. But then, I do seem to take my city car where others wouldn't. Would it get right to the end? We'll see.
But first, a cache. Yep, nice easy find, empty log book! Woohoo! {FTF}. Grabbed the trackable to take to Australia.

When I originally looked at this series earlier this week I imagined this would be where I would park up, play it safe, and bike from here. Having now done the rest of the road, my 2WD should have no probs getting to the 4WD car park. Ground clearance is the issue, and I have that sorted. Quick find here, [FTF]{FTF} etc, thanks Biggles.
I didn’t have much planned for today until I got the call a couple of days out enquiring if I would be up for a trip down the North Bank for some recently placed caches.
Yep, I’m up for that, even if the FTFs have gone. They weren’t, so myself, Taybee Dragon and the Seagnoid jumped in GH6710’s 4 wheel drive and went exploring.
And it was a good morning. We got a large handful of the new Biggles caches; found a cool old stone hut which is now about to have its own caches; then explored up around the Pine Valley area (even though we had few caches loaded on our respective devices), but still were able to grab a couple, including an archived one which is now about to be repurposed.
A successful day and tentative plans made for other trips to the general area. Thanks all COs.

My last visit to the Goulter was just prior to starting geocaching, and I've been meaning to get back ever since. At times it was logging that prevented it, but primarily it was trips elsewhere. It definitely deserves a few caches and I'm glad that they are now in place.
I noticed the new listings earlier in the week, and a quick conversation with Kiwimykl identified that the Seagnoid was planning to head up on Saturday. With my vehicle being more suited for the trip, I asked if I could join in and provide the transport. Richardino, taybeedragon, the Seagnoid and myself all loaded up early and had a great day out.
I moved through the gate while the search was initiated, and got back in time to see the team locate the hide, awesome. A *FTF* cheers BigglesNZ
