Day 13 of my fortnight+ road trip up to Brisbane and back to Blue Mountains. Leisurely drives. Avoiding GC power trails. Randomly driving to various spots that take my fancy. And older caches on my target list, such as this. The oldest geocache in Queensland. A nice hike around the hidden lagoon. Sweet find with much appreciation. Unfortunately we ran out of time 3 days earlier for my geospouse Graubunden to find this together with me. TFTC Maureen and Brian (original CO, Crew 153) and the current CO tonyjago. This was my 2,292th geocache find
My first cache in Australia! My friend La Kedi drove me to the parking lot and soon i found this extraordinary cache. When i was about to return the cache to its location, beady eyes were staring at me - a toad! Thanks from Canada
Thank you so much for this historical cache! Picture log as we didnt bring pencil. Bush bash was longer than expected but very easy to do. Bring a stick to protect yourself from spider webs and snakes
A bit of a soggy bash through the bush after some heavy rain in recent days, but worth it to get to this cache.
A nice walk along a faint trail to GZ for an easy find of this oldie. Thanks for keeping it going! Took the TB. TFTC and an FP from me.
In the Logan area for GCLogan, caching as always, on our own. This cache, Queensland's oldest has been on our radar for the past three years, but we are not often in the area. But today, we were prepared to take the hike into the wilds. We had golden advice from a couple of caching friends, without this information, we would probably have let it slip again for another year.Thankfully, today was somewhat cooler than it has been, so we were relieved about that. We took the gentle stroll along the Wild May track, until it was time to go bush. Now, as a friend said to me, this is supposed to be bush bashing, but some of the caches down in the Southern Downs are fare worse than this one. Mr D lead the way with the compass, clearing away the cobwebs ahead of us. I followed up, looking for potential trip hazards and snakes. Neither affected us today. It was with relief that Mr D (AKA PJ) called out that he found it..... Yay!We both signed the log, I left a travel bug of my own to start it's journey with out me.Thanks tonyjago for adopting this now famous (in Queensland) really old cache. We had fun on this walk, and enjoyed the Great Outdoors. Favourite point to add to the rest.
Back over from NZ to attend the GCLogan events over the coming week. Day zero today and attending an event not too far away. After attending that event, plans were made for some of the attendees, to head out to this one and the anniversary ones as well. I tagged along, just to revisit this oldie that I found early in my caching career. Picked up the TB to take on further travels.
On our Australian trip . After travelled from Darwin to Perth over the GRR, now on the Eastcoast .Starting from Cairns, Port Douglas, Airlie Beach, Platybus Camp and Bush Camp Broken River, Graignesh, Maryborough, South Nanango, Noosa and now in Brisbane .After met my relative yesterday, I have never seen before, we done some geocaching around Brisbane .After the lovely event, we done this one with some other cachers .Nice walk and talking till we found THE real old one . Thx for showing us!TFTC# 18'034
I am down under for the very first time. Visiting Australia has always been a dream of mine, and I cannot believe it has come true. Australia's nature and wildlife really captivated me. Over three weeks, I saw many wonderful beaches, sunsets, animals such as , and I found great geocaches. My tour guide was mostly geocaching, and through it, I discovered many beautiful places I wouldnt have seen without our great hobby. I mainly stayed in Brisbane but also visited other gorgeous places such as Noosa Heads and Springbrook. I spent a few days on the Gold Coast and Moreton Island, and I went to New South Wales to have visited a second state in Australia. During my stay, the winter and early spring in Queensland were very warm, the sun shone every single day, and I did not see a single drop of rain. My time down under was so beautiful and unforgettable. Australia is such a stunning country! Today I spent another day in Brisbane. I really like this city and I discovered beautiful places. In the morning I spent some time in the city centre and I hosted an event. After that I went to the oldie "Queens land". What a day! This one is definitely my geocaching highlight in Australia. My second oldest find ever! Finding a good and safe way to GZ was quite challenging. However, somehow I made it without meeting any snakes. Lucky me! After signing the log I put the container back as found. Thank you for this geocache says Mr. J. Cacher from the other side of the world
#5635Mathsnuts are over from the UK, visiting the inlaws. We have been staying at Springbrook but today we're heading back to Brisbane. Having done my research in advance, I had noted this old cache so was keen to stop here on the way back. Having found some old caches before, I anticipated some bush whacking, but forgot to let the others know so poor Mini Maths wasn't very appropriately dressed, in a skirt. I found some insect repellant for him and we set off. Mathsnut Junior was happily leading the way until she went through too many cobwebs, but we reached GZ without anyone being bitten by anything and only saw a carpet python when we were back on the main path A great cache in a lovely spot. We dropped a TB that will hopefully be picked up soon. TFTC
I arrived in Brisbane, from New Zealand, last Tuesday night, for a couple of weeks work. During my time here I hope to find several geocaches, but for many reasons none was more important to me to find than this one. I always enjoy the old ones. So, after a morning of effort to 'fuel' up the car I had, I headed out here. I parked at the Illaweena Street Picnic Area, and having read several of the past logs I took the Wild May track until it got as close as it was gonna get, and then headed into the bush. It seems I got lucky, because straight away I found a faint trail that took me to the stream, and then followed along side it until I was quite close to the cache. Clear walking all the way. Then it was just a short walk away from the stream to where the cache was. The whole expedition was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. ---Thanks to Maureen and Brian for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.
A bit of off track adventure. Nice to get this off the bucket list. Thanks to all who have maintained.
TFTC great bush bash to find it & the friendly garden frog was a surprise , added stickers to cache
We made a change of plans this morning due to our mishap on this one yesterday. We got up super early before the sun and headed out here to be here as soon as we could see determined to locate this golden oldie. We really enjoyed the walk this time with a proper map and except for a little bit of bush bashing and the early morning spider webs the whole plan went together quite well. As we neared GZ we could guess where the case might be and sure enough it was found in the second place we looked and the log book now contains our name and everything has been returned as it was. many thanks for keeping this one going for so long and we're really happy we have finally got it off of our to-do list. Many thanks Maureen and Brian for placing the first cache in Queensland, it was an honour to find it nearly 24 years after placement. We now have the oldest cache in every state and territory except for Canberra.A favourite point for us for sure
Bisoutje and I are on a roadtrip between Cairns and Adelaide and have now touched ground at Brisbane. We spent our 2 day here just walking around and exploring the city. Of course we wouldn't leave before first finding Queensland's oldest. 2000-caches are always my top priority. This morning we drove to the parking where we arrived at 08:45. It is a short but beautiful hike towards GZ. I was on the lookout for koala's but did not see any. When the GPS said 150 meters to go I left the trail and stepped in the footsteps of Ned Kelly briefly. After a little bit of bushwacking I arrived at a semi-open field with tons of opportunities to get lost. I kept following my compass arrow and soon spotted a wallaby not far from GZ hopping about. It wasn't long before I reached the big log and the cache as well.Really happy to have bagged another 2000-cache and being 1 step closer to completing my jasmer. I am happy to award a fav point here fore the lovely morning hike and the maintaining of this oldie.TFTC!
Lovely day for a walk in the forest to find Queensland's oldest cache with Geodog Muffin. I carried Muffin when brush was challenging for her! Leaving a travel bug here! TFTC
1370 for the tribeAt night only 15 minutes drive from this very retro cache. What is a geocacher to do? A year 2000 cache and a hole in the Jasmer grid to fill, it was no question that we had to go for it!Attempting it at night was possibly unwise but an absolute adrenaline rush. Found a nice little frog and scared a bird roosting on the ground which scared us If doing it at night don't do it alone! As per the previous logs followed the track until 163m to the cache, then walked through some scrub which opened out closer to the cache. Cache is in mint condition. SL and replaced back.Logging this as Grace Brown takes out the first Gold Medal for Australia in the Paris Olympics, amazing that this was placed 24 years ago when Cathy Freeman won gold in the Sydney Olympics in 2000 Thanks to Maureen and Brian for placing and for everyone who has assisted in maintaining this one over the years.
This cache has been on my radar ever since I began planning my Antipodean Adventure. I knew I would be coming to Brisbane as I have family here, so it became a must visit when I realised how crucial it would be to completing my JASMER grid.So today I set off with my cousin for the drive to Drewvale, a new suburb for my cousin which turned out to be a pleasant surprise for her. We parked up as suggested & had a lovely walk along the Wild May Trail until the metres counted down to around 165m. Then we found a half trail through the bush, which soon opened out & I followed the arrow straight to GZ.When we were about 20m away I spotted a familiar item & shortly afterwards the cache was in hand. I was delighted to sign in here to complete my JASMER grid which I've managed without visiting the USA at all. Many thanks for keeping this old one going. It gets an obvious favourite point & I dipped my *Horses Around the World* geocoin which only visits caches older than 20 years.Found at 12:36Cache #10378TFTC Maureen and Brian

FP in Although this oldie wasn't quite on our route, a visit here was of course a must for Docla and me. It was actually a relaxed walk, but the last 170 meters were a bit of a challenge because of our respect for snakes. Finding the box at the GZ was then quite easy. Thank you for preserving this dinosaur and greetings from Germany. FP in
Bobby29911 and me are visited this old cache today. The way to the GZ was somewhat cumbersome, but we found it . Thanks for the cache
We used to work in Eight Mile Plains some 15 years back, had never heard about Geocaching and had no idea the oldest box in Queensland would be right here. Today this was our main goal - took a beautiful hike around the park and made it a 5 icon day. A very obvious favorite!Thank you so much for maintaining this oldie all along and greetings from Germany!
I'm having an amazing time visiting da Bush Girl Downunder and sightseeing some new spots with da Bush Family. Last time I was in Australia was some 13+ years ago and I still love it here. It was only my final visit all those years ago that I became a Geocacher, so I had so many caches to find now I didn't know of! I only have limited time, so I picked a few good ones to target TFTC Nice walk in here this morning and saw a huge banana spider, cool! Similar to others, I could only find a scant path about 170m off the main road and had to bushwhack to GZ. After the first 10m the thick brush turned much thinner and a pleasant hike.
Visiting South East Queensland for a week from Port Macquarie. Today we drove from the Gold Coast to Brisbane, with several stops along the way. Great weather once again paved the way for another decent caching day.Nice to knock such an oldie off the list, a manageable walk from the recommended parking coords making sure you take the right track, the trails map certainly comes in very handy. Thanks for the cache
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I are visiting from NZ we had recently finished our road-trip from Sydney to the Gold Coast and are currently staying on the Gold Coast reasonably busy with family things, so dont have much time for Geocaching but not completely busy today was a caching day as we needed to head out today to find the Cache: Queensland (GC8E) bit of a marathon effort for us, walk to the train station, train to Altandi, bus to Illeweena St & then a 2km walk to the car park, followed by a bit of track walking to get us close to that cache picked what I thought was the closest track, got to a position that was reasonably close, then with a bit of off-road rambling we ended up reasonably close but with a creek in between where we were & where we needed to be we backtracked & got onto the Wild May Track, which turned out to be the best track to use walked along this till we got to within 170m of the cache, then went off-road rambling Mrs McMike2012 not too happy with the off-road aspect of this but away we went we were soon at Ground Zero the cache was easily located, log-book completed & cache returned due to its age, location & the effort we put in to get it, well give it a Favourite Point also fills in a missing date on our Jasmer Challenge Grid (thats number 280 of 290: so only 10 months to go) pleased to add a 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN:LN:LS #5,390 for Us!
bunadoorian, Smiley1982 and myself came here to find this cache as it is the oldest in QLD and its my birthday. I enjoyed the walk to GZ and even better finding the cache first. TFTC and for maintaining this cache tonyjago. A favourite point coming your way.
TFTC! Wow, what an awesome cache. It was great to find this one with Bunadoorian & Grub62. Well done to Grub62 for finding the actual cache on her birthday. This is great to find the oldest cache in Queens Land.
A bit of a hike in but a quick find once we got there. Happy birthday Grub62. TFTC. Thanks also to everyone who created and maintained this cache.
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Today we moved from Murwillumbah to Beenleigh so across the border! We parked the van in a street in Beenleigh (couldn't check into the showgrounds before 2pm!) Then headed off to find the oldest cache in Queensland. Pretty hard to believe of all the times we have been in this area over the last 10years and we had never sought this one out. The plan was to drop some TB's but when we parked the car there were signs up advising a prescribed burn so we decided not to risk it.We got to within 170mts on the track, Mrs F whoosed out, and waited on the track, whilst Mr F went the hard yards (apparently not too bad) and signed the log. Looked for Koalas all the way but no luck for us today.TFTC Maureen and Brian
Thought that I shouldnt be slack and go get Queens Lands. It was very nice to get out in the bush this morning. I really had time for this one as I had to get back to Toowoomba for early afternoon. Glad to tick it off. Thank you tonyjago for placing this cache for me to enjoy!
Back when I made the plan to find the B R I S B A N E cache for my 1000th find, I decided that my 2000 milestone cache would be Queens land. As I was approaching the that goal, I asked elina_maree to join me for an afternoon of caching. We took a few hours to make up the numbers I needed, including finding the Queen land anniversary caches. With the numbers now right (in my head at least) we set off to find this one, following a path that led along the creek towards the cache. Once at GZ it was a nice easy find and an impressive cache cache of course. elina_maree sorted through all the trackables inside and made some swaps and then we took some photos to mark my milestone. Thanks for the ongoing maintenance of the cache tonyjago! I love that this cache is still so well hidden after 20years. And even though it is such a popular cache and there are a few geotrails around, it was still a fun navigational and terrain challenge to get here.
Found for a second time with Brissy Cat Retrieved a trackable and dropped two off ["n0w0rries Deadly Duck - Simon LeGreed" and "Treasure X Trackable"]. The Andy Gee Wombat trackable is not in the cache. Retrieved Journey to Jenn #2 which was left in this cache by a Canadian person - even though the trackable's goal is to get to somewhere in America!
After recently finding Australia's oldest, karen rinora and I wanted to find Queensland's oldest geocache. After a lovely Mother's Day lunch we donned our hiking gear and headed out. It was a pleasant walk along the trail for the most part. A decent bushwhack to GZ, and we were soon signing the log. Thanks for maintaining this oldster for the enjoyment of the geocaching community!
Fivegk and I are visiting from Canada, and this great oldie was on our must find list. Armed with sticks to ward off spiders and other nasties, we bushwhacked off the trail to GZ. FAV POINT FOR SURE!
Today we left the highway to visit the old cache Queens land. This month is still missing from the statistics. After visiting this cache, we found a few more cans in the area. Thanks for the caches.TB in
Over in Queensland for a parkrun Event and we are taking the opportunity to do some exploring and grab a couple of caches. This was one of the caches I had on my bucket list for this trip to give me another month in my Jasmer, only a couple to go. I managed to follow the geotrail most of the way but with the recent rain a lot of it was inder water. I'm glad I wore my waterproof hiking boots.Once at GZ it didn't take long to spot even though it is nothing like the original picture.TFTC Maureen and Brian
A must on our caching list to do while down here. After doing the nearby traditional and virtual headed along the D1/T1 trail for this one. Certainly not that tonight with the darkness and change in terrain. Lots of night noises but highly worth the walk in. Completed with mackay_geocaching. Thanks for the entertaining night. FP On a caching holiday from Mackay. In the search of old caches and ones to fill DT grid spaces. Thanks for placing this cache for our enjoyment with mackay_geocaching. Have mostly had clear sunny days on our trip.*Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*
Out with alphag_25 to grab some old caches and the nearby virtual before heading back to the Gold Coast, although pretty much pitch black with no moon tonight it was a case of search in the dark, still managed to find the cache though. Good condition for a very old cache. TFTC

Now that was FUN!! Love a little off track action but maybe the spiders could set their webs elsewhere. A little moist underfoot so Ill squelch my way back to the car, but had a blast getting to this golden oldie.
This old one was must do for me in our time in Brisbane. Today, in our way to Byron Bay I could find this really old cache. But it was a hard challenge for me. I'm really scared about all the venomous autralien animals..yesterday I saw a snake on my way, so today it was hard for me to leave the way for almost 200m.But I got it .TFTC geovi
On the way to the airport I managed to visit this old geocache.TFTCHennesAT the end the poem of the dayAda Cambridge Follow"After Our Likeness"Before me now a little picture liesA little shadow of a childish face,Childishly sweet, yet with the dawning graceOf thought and wisdom on her lips and eyes.Fair, oval, broad-brow'd facesmall, delicate headTransparent skin, with blue veins shining throughAll the soft outlines, beautiful and true,Bring me the echo of the words "God said."Made "in our image"sure 'tis that we see,God's likeness, in the fair face of a child,By the world's sin and passion undefiledAy, as I look, it seems quite plain to me.The light wherein the little features shine,Strange, mystic light, so undefined and faint,So far too pure for any words to paint'Tis a reflection of the Face divine. Some day the earthly shadows will be castAcross that sunshineit may be to dimAwhile the visible countenance of Him;But 'twill be therethe likenessto the last. Some day the lucid waters, in which liePictured those glorious lineaments, will beStirred up and troubled like a stormy sea;But they will yet re-settleby-and-by.They will re-settle when the soul is still'd,Its passions, its wild longings, and its pain; The pure reflection will shine out againWhen earth's hopes are relinquish'd, unfulfill'd.They will re-settle in those after-yearsWhen life's hard lessons have been conned and learn'd;When this child's beauty will have all return'd,More lovely for the trouble and the tears. They will re-settle in the calm of death,When the sweet eyes are laid asleep, and whenThe heart is hush'd. We are on a one week holiday road trip from Sydney to Brisbane to Sydney, with pre-booked accommodation at the Big4 NRMA Treasure Island Holiday Resort at Gold Coast and then at Big4 NRMA Darlington Beach Holiday Resort at Arrawarra (Coffs Harbour), with some other as yet undetermined overnight stops along the M1 route there & back. Will be attempting to log a broad selection of cache types whilst in Queensland (at least one each of Trad, Multi, Mystery, Letterbox, Earth, Wherigo, Virtual, & AdLab), including a visit to Queenslands oldest geocache GC8E - Queens land. Photos will be uploaded to logs after our return to home base.Today (day 2) we drove from Arrawarra (near Coffs Harbour) to Slacks Creek (Queensland), to deliver some items to our son at his new Queensland abode, then headed over to Karawatha Forest Park to visit Queensland's oldest geocache and the two nearby anniversary caches. We then collected a variety of cache types (a Multi, a Mystery, an EarthCache, and 3 Lab stages) around the Logan area, before driving to our pre-booked accommodation at the Big4 NRMA Treasure Island Holiday Resort at Gold Coast. This was the 3rd of 11 finds for the day (day 2), and 8th find of the holiday. After visiting our son at Slacks Creek to deliver his stuff we headed over to Karawatha Forest Park for this one, Queensland's oldest geocache, and our very first Queensland cache find! Parked the geomobile in the parking area off Illaweena Street, then followed the bush track to within about 175 metres, where we then headed into the light scrub and worked our way through to GZ. Quickly spotted the hide on arrival, and soon had CIH. Signed the logbook, swapped some trinkets, picked up a TB, then replaced the nice robust cache container as found. Our exit back to the track took a slightly more direct route, and we popped back onto the track at around the 160 metre mark. TFTC tonyjago, and to those who now maintain the cache, which gets a Favourite point from us.Find #6643
This is my 56th year 2000 cache of 114 left in the world. This is also the final year 2000 cache I hadn't found in Australia. I parked to the west and made the hot and humid hike to GZ. I was hoping to spot a koala but no go. Eventually, I got to where I had to leave the trail. I skirted along the edge of the creek to the north as the vegetation wasn't as thick up there. Just have to be careful not to run into any spider webs. Eventually I made it to GZ where the cache was spotted quickly. A nice short hike in a nice park here. Thanks for the cache!
On our travel TEMBO! and I had today a task to do. The visit of this old veteran was mandatory. The way from the parking lot to the cache was easier as thought. The weather conditions are dry, thats perfect. This old cache earned a favoritepoint from me.Thanks to Maureen and Brian for hiding and maintaining the cache.T4TC Filser1
Seven caches from the year 2000 are still active in Australia. *Filser1* and I have already found five of them."Queens land" was our destination today. We gratefully accepted the car park coordinates, parked the CM and set off on foot. We marched along the firm track until we reached the shortest distance to the oldie. Then we headed into the wilderness. We slowly but steadily approached our destination. We could see the cache host and the cache itself from a good distance. What a joy!We lingered for a moment at this oldie before making our way back.T4TC, which already gets a blue ribbon from me because of its age and maintenance

One of the hardest to get to due to lack of trails but great experience, feet got alil wet though
First thing we did on getting to Brisbane was to come by and grab this cache. Then decided to grab the letterbox and virtual nearby as well. A fun easy off track walk to the old gz. Tftc.
Finding this cache is almost a rite of passage for a Queensland Geocacher. It has been on my radar for a long time and today was the day to go find the 142nd cache to be placed in the wild.Another reason to target this cache specifically is that Ive decided I should take the Jasmer Grid semi seriously. Im also on a mission to Plug the Gaps in my Finds by Found Date calendar and this find helps there as well. The cache was just under 800 metres from where I parked the car and the walking trails throughout the Karawatha Forest Reserve are wide and well maintained. The weather wasnt the best, but the rain held off long enough for me to make my dash. 200 metes from the GZ, I left the trail and went bush. It was quite easy to traverse and before I knew it, I had arrived at the GZ and had cache in hand. Great to see a cache so well stocked with swag. TB Andy Gee Wombat was not to be seen in the cache. Cache and log in excellent condition. It was great to finally put a against Queens land. Ill also award the cache its 200th Favorite Point for its historical significance to Queensland Geocaching. TFTC. TNLN. SL. Awarded. TB Prado Owl visited.Find # 1745.
Woo, that was a bit of cross country to get to GZ, lucky for me there was no water where I crossed. Filling my Jasmer grid, so targeted this cache and it didnt disappoint.Favourite point given.TFTC

### Around the world in 85 days - Step 9 - Australia ###My wife GM70 and I are traveling around the world enjoying beautiful places in many countries. It's a big honor to search and find such an old geocache. Thanks a lot to the geocaching community for maintaining this oldie. We had a nice walk on the trail and only about 120m off the trail. The cache is in excellent condition and we took two TBs with us. On the way back to the trail we chose a different route and learned how quickly you can lose your direction when you need to take some detours due to vegetation. However, our GPS brought us back safely. All the best from AustriaBaumi_Bon the road with my wife GM70
Tschakka, this one was on our must have list Found and Big thankshex59discover me 0WJX5W
This was already planned 3 years ago. This is the last month that was missing from the matrix. It took longer than expected to find him. Couldn't find any cache path that led to GZ, even on the spot I panicked that I wouldn't find this oldie anytime soon. Thank you for keeping this alive. Greetings from the Netherlands.
What an honour and a privilege to add our names to the logbook of QLD's 1st Geocache, thanks to everyone for keeping it alive !!! FP awarded of course !!! Picked up a TB, and dropped 2 TB's
Found It!A nice walk in here this morning and a quick find once I got to GZ. This is the second oldest cache that I've ever found. Although it looks like both the container and logbook have been replaced at some point in the last 23 years!TFTC
On my roundtrip along Australia with Oopie we are douing always some caches. All COs thanks for bringing us on this nice places and making this caches.
Together with Travelser I'm going Down Under. We are driving around with a motorhome. Started on the 17th September in Cairns. Our plan is driving.along the eastcoast down. Then in the south on to Adelaide and from there ending the 31th October in Alice Springs.During our trip we of course search for several caches. Most of them brought us to very nice spots, like this one.All the CO's, and in this case tonyjago, thanks for bringing us here and give our trip a special accent. This was a special one for me. I love such ols caches and today was it the longer way worth.

Hatte was von Urwald. Hoffentlich bleibt die Dose noch lange erhalten.Danke fr's Austfteln, Herlocken, Verstecken und Pflegen !Thank you very much for luring us here as well as for hiding and maintaining the cache !....../ ).....' /---' (_____.TFTC . Greetings from Ireland!I am on a 6 week trip that includes around 5 weeks in Australia (the other week spent across Singapore and Dubai). This cache was on my list as it's a Jasmer date I need but also because it's great to pick off the oldies! I was very concerned about what creatures I might bump into but thankfully I didn't spot any (or maybe they didn't spot me).Easily found once I found the huge item at gz! Tftc! FP
Definitely some of the toughest terrain we have faced yet. Totally worth the experience. Legendary cache!
Easy find after a few peaks in other possible spots. Glad to have Qlds' oldest and only a couple days before I head back to NZ. Tftc!
We are now heading north to avoid the coldest of the winter weather in Victoria. Loving our time around Brisbane and around the area. Today we started out with an event, then picked up a variety of finds while meandering back to home base.
Apart from the event, this was our highest priority today. Suprised to find that it is hidden in so much bush. Thankfully we found a somewhat over grown track and didn't have to bushbash all the way in. I supposed it one reason it has survived this long.
Thanks tonyjago for placing this cache and doing the maintenance, so we can enjoy finding it.

Came for a walk did a few caches to the north of the woods and then spotted this on the map! Had no idea the oldest cache in QLD was here
This one's been on my radar for years but I've never been close enough on previous visits to Brisbane to be lured into going for it. I wasn't close by today either ... but I figured that a detour here while heading alone from Coolangatta to see my mum in Brisbane's north would probably be the best chance I'd ever have of getting Qld's oldest. Turned out it cost me about an hour extra on my trip, which is a small price to pay ... plus, of course, some tolls, can't miss out on them these days.
I was hoping I'd come across a geo-trail once I left the main track and although I didn't, I saw sufficient evidence of others having been this way to know I was on the right track. And then, about 40m from GZ, I spotted something there that I'd seen in the gallery and knew that I'd hit paydirt. Now I have found the oldest cache in 4 different states!
A very satisfying find, for which I thank the original CO and more importantly, those who have given their time to maintain the cache over its 23 year life.

Out with MereanaMaree for the day, this was high on our to do list so glad we were able to do it. TFTC!
Our last day visiting Brisbane from Sydney. Couldn't go past a vintage cache so headed south for a lovely walk on a sunny morning. Bit of a bush bash but the container is in great shape and we appreciate the effort to keep this alive. SL TFTC Cheers... Gaztek
Nice to finally get this one. It has been on my radar for a while. Tf mantaining this one for so long. It is in pristine condition. Have a fav point for the lovely stroll and age of the cache.
We parked at the Illaweena Street Picnic Area. About a 600m walk on a path then a bit of bush bashing to the cache - we managed it with a 2yo, 3yo, 4yo and 5yo though. We left a few trinkets for the next kids to find it to trade with.
