Love the views even more than the sneaky hides TFTC

#2531 As we neared the top the wind really started to cut through. Glad it was a quick find. Had to be sure to keep hold of the log as it may have ended up in the river if the wind had gotten hold. Thanks Tankengine for bringing us here.

#615 A big day caching with Turtle284 out this way today, with minimal service and only our downloaded lists, we were prepared to pick up as many as we could and still get home in time to keep the family happy! We picked up a few dnfs too but that didn’t dampen our spirits, thank you to all the COs today!

The wind was brutal once we reached the top here, almost leaning forward to hold ourselves upright. Holding onto our hats so we wouldn’t lose them we made a quick find at GZ, lucky for us! The descent was much nicer than the incline faced on the ascent. Thanks Tankengine for bringing us up here

Gotta love a trig station! and what views. All the way around!
I have made a sneaky visit up to this trig in the distant past when there was sheep about.
But today I was a bit more cautious. I had assumed this was private property, but with the appearance of a cache and no sheep I thought I'd better check.
From research. Its 470 Uraiarra road. Block 428, with a varied use of NUZ2 and NUZ3 Rural hills, ridges. But most importantly Its listed as public land.
Sounds good enough for me.

Interestingly it has a development proposal covering the area which will change the block number to 485, slightly different borders but similar use. The march of Molonglo valley housing will be passing this way sometime soon, but the hill top is safe.

An excellent trig, cache and extensive views. Tops work TS a favorite point for you.

Nice steep walk up to GZ but an awesome view!

An easy climb to the summit through the spring growth. Not a fan walking through long grass but hey, how else are you going to get there. Brilliant 360 degree view from the trig, fantastic colours all around. Oh yes, found the cache too. Favourite added for the views. TNLNSL TFTC

A short but heart-startlingly steep climb, great views from the top. Been meaning to get this after we did the test of the Rangers Range series a week ago. Brilliant spot - thanks tankengine!

I have driven past this cache for the past year now, and always been a bit too chicken to stop! No parking waypoint's or gate trailhead waypoints has me a little bit worried as I can't seem to see any way through the barbwire fence, that's annoying!

Today it was very quiet though and I was passing along this road once again, so I decided I would just take the bullet! Parked as close as I could, carefully jumped the first barbwire fence, then managed to get through a gate for the second fence, phew! A quick walk up the hill, and a short search and the cache was found.

Hang on, this is a Tankengine cache!? What a unique container! That was a big surprise!

Thanks for the cache, jump #2 over the fence was also successful and I was off before anyone questioned my antics!

Out this way for a driving lesson with Chocolistick03. We decided to park and make the climb to retreive this cache. Great view and this short walk/climb was a nice way to break up the driving lesson. Thanks TE.

Wow awesome views. Totally worth the short uphill walk.

Wouldn’t have come up here thinking it was private land.

Thanks for bringing me here.

With some spare time at the end of my day I felt the need for a few caches, hard finding anything close to home but a few in this area look appealing... on the map! Okay, so from the road this didn't look too bad, and found a way under the fence that was a quick way to deal with the fence, but jeez that hill is damn steep!!! Great views though on the way and from the very top they were fantastic. Cache was a quick find, enjoyed the location and then the much easier and faster walk back down to the car and off to the next cache. Thanks for the cache Tankengine.

Beautiful Canberra morning out collecting letterbox caches. But had to climb this hill as I drove nearby. Quick find. TFTC TE

After a big morning of caching and walking with Tankengine, we decided to come and do this last “big” walk.

Even before I got over the fence I was asking “why, why did I say let’s do this one?!?!”

My now sore feet and legs needed a little assistance by Tankengine to climb the fence. Once over we started the trek up hill almost instantly. I got three quarters of the way up before my tired body and lungs said, “let’s just stop and look at the view for a second please”.

But it was all worth it once we got to the top. The view was amazing and the cache (a little unexpected for a TE hide), but found quick enough.

Thank you so much for the day and of course Tftc Tankengine!!!

Popped past on the way to the shops. I had previously bagged the trig from the road, assuming that this was private property, so I was surprised for a cache to pop up here. Checking land custodianship map on ACTMAPi it would appear that my initial instincts are correct...

Thanks Tankengine

Another late evening climb, the air was dead still as we started, but as we crested the top we were hit with the most wonderful breeeze....that’s until the toxic death cloud (aka smoke) rolled in . It was surreal watching it as it swallowed up distant landmarks and edged closer and closer.
We have met the farmer that lives around these parts and he’s not particularly friendly so we didn’t spend too much time here, so we quickly discovered the cache and headed down.
We crunched back down in the dry grass, could almost pretend you were walking through snow with the sound.
An interesting spot, and fantastic vistas. TFTC

*highlight* spotting a wombat with her baby as we drove home, so cute as we pulled alongside them. Reminder that it’s worth taking it a little slower.

A nice view from the top but just reinforces how dry things are at the moment. I could also see the smoke from the fires to the east. TFTC

On the way home from Belconnen across Coppins Crossing decided to make a slight detour and pick this one up as well. TFTC.

Taking my youngest son for driving practice, so stopped below this one, and had a lovely evening stroll up the hill. Great views. Cache easily found. TFTC.

Back on this side of town early afternoon to visit the Grandkids in Denman Prospect. With 30 mins to spare we picked up a couple of caches down the road with this one giving us a bit of exercise up to the trig. The walk up had us huffing and puffing although it was just a 56 ascent over some 350m from the car. Total time to climb was less than 10 mins but it felt longer.

Quick and easy find however could have been tricky had we not looked carefully. TFTC Tankengine.

Parked at the nearest point and soon found a way into the start, over ,rather than under .
The climb doesn’t look much at first but it’s deceptive .

Three quarters of the way up I looked back and saw a car pull in and person on the climb start .
I got 10 m from ground zero and decided to wait on a rock and do a joint FTF with whoever it was .
A man soon appeared on top 5 mins later and introduced himself as CSFamily.
Soon after we got the joint FTF together and got a nice panoramic photo with the trig and city backdrop .
We had a great goss on the way down and enjoyed the views in all directions .

Our thanks to Tankengine for the hide and trig location with beaut views .

FTF shared with The Farmers 5!
I was sitting at my computer and the new e-mail came in: I wondered about heading off or not, and then decided to take the plunge. I had some tech challenges getting the info loaded onto my GPSr, so went off with phone and a good idea about where to head.
Arriving at the general area, I saw another car and someone zigzagging up the hill; I scurried under the fence and headed straight to the trig—that is quite a hill, despite being only about 40m elevation!
At the top, the someone turned out to be from The Farmers 5, who was reclining against a rock waiting for me so as to share the FTF—a very decent gesture indeed.
We soon had the cache in hand and a nice selfie with sweeping views.
Thanks TE for the cache, and thanks TF5 for the shared find.
