#19699 - 12:30:00 PM; Day nine of a road trip taking the long way to Adelaide from the National Capital with the geohoney. Arrived in Adelaide on Wednesday and today we headed to Semaphore to check out another of the seaside suburbs. After grabbing some brunch, we set off for some sightseeing and I managed to collect a few multis along the way collecting three more of the Used 2B a Church" micros, but sadly one DNF. The three finds were all in good order and now have my name on the logsheet, including this one. TFTC Freddo Smile

Over from Perth for a few days to attend the Leap Day Mega. After the big day yesterday, today's plan was to grab a few caches in Semaphore near the event, then take a slow drive back to the hotel via a select few caches, ad labs and LGAs. This was one that I stopped off at today while enjoying a nice walk to explore the area after the event. Information easily obtained a very quick find once at GZ Smile My multi stats will look a lot better after this trip that's for sure! TFTC

It seemed like a good idea at the time... last year, when I attended the Mega Event in Rutherglen and talked to some people about the Great Leap event. I thought what a great way to spend the leap year. I immediately booked some accommodation and thought I'd figure out the rest closer to the event. During the Christmas break, I considered all the logistics involved and decided to go solo without the geokids. Flights were booked, childcare sorted, and now to find some caches. I flew in on the 29th and flew out on the 2nd... all in all, I only spent less than 48 hours in Adelaide but definitely plan to return. My first day was all about types of caches, and I managed to log 11 different caches, including an adventure lab. My second day, today, was about just hanging with other cachers. I met up with sharkiefan and FUF009, and together, we were FUSHS85. We set out on an adventure and collected a bunch of caches that required getting up high or down low. Lots of fun! This cache was a nice quick find. Nil issues to report.TFTC and the adventure with new friends.

Found whilst in Adelaide for the mega on 29 Feb, The Great Leap Forward. Walked from the train station to Semaphore for one of the side events, then made my way to the bus stop to head back to the city for a phat nap. Very easy solve and a quick find at GZ. TFTC!

Grabbed the trio for the Cache type and all 3 were quick and easy finds after gathering the details. There are a few people moving around despite the early hour, not just me then!Well the day is finally here and I leap-t out of bed good and early, same as the last few days, before 0430! Had a plan to catch up on some NZ-Time work then head into and back from the City before it got busy. Only targets were the two Webcams, though I was close enough to a Virtual to grab that find too. My aims for the day, with pretty much a full choice of all I need to add 29 Feb to my profile badges, and other stats, is to go slow and steady and get all I seek. Have been doing a few recces last few days so know where I need to go, and hope to get to the MEGA around lunch-time for an hour or so. Hoping work isn't too onerous today, but you never know.

This series continues to make me happy . . . Thank you for the smiley and the fun. * * * * * * * * * * * * * *The DayIts Leap Day! This date and its related mega are what brought me to Australia earlier than I planned, but I was super excited to be caching with the South Australia Leap Invasion 24 team of Kittykatch, isopeda, barb2e, Joolay, Contesta, and Albida33. I cant imagine a better local group with whom to cache and attend The Great Leap Forward. We started out bright and early without Albida33 and Contesta to snag some targeted caches in town before traffic was too horrible. We had already made a plan to meet them at the event. We added them to our entourage after the event for a full day of excellent caching. It was a grand day overall. So many cool caches, laughs, adventures, and memories. Happy Leap Day, everyone!

Adelaide Leap Day trip. Day 6. Today is the big day. With the Mega on for the 29th of February there were plenty of targets for the day. I joined kitty katch, Joolay, isopeda, contesta, LaFavorite cacher and barb2e,. We signed as SALI24. I did a few caches on the way to the Mega and then joined in the fun of a few onsite caches along with the LABs and Gadget caches. Once the opening ceremony was done, we jumped in the cars and headed out with a goal to get one of as many of the cache types as possible. We managed all eleven as a team, with the city Webcams done in the morning, even though I cannot get one without going to Victor Harbour. The day ended with the mega closing ceremony and dinner before heading home to try and get some sleep before getting going again tomorrow. We walked a section of Military road in Grange and managed to visit three short Used 2B multi caches. Each was simple and worked first go, always a bonus. Thanks for the cache Freddo45644.23 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 12 Days of Caching 2007 Silver A#86**Albida**

Staying in Semaphore for a week and doing some of the local caches. While other members of the team were taking photos of the sunset I slipped away to do this simple multi. Calculations done I did the short walk to Gz and soon found the cache.
It may interest FeddotheUnbeliever to know that while the Secularization of society has contributed to a number of empty churches other major factors which have been just as important are the move away from a 'Cathedral' culture in favour of more functionally suitable buildings for churches and the decline in Denominationalism in churches (ie less churches affiliated with the traditional denominations (eg Anglican, Lutheran). Thanks Freddo

Mum was visiting me and we decided to go for an explore. After visiting Port Adelaide we headed to Semaphore where we were greeted with quite the breeze off the water and a swell to match. One sandy and wet walk along the jetty was rewarded with an ice cream. I then decided to obtain the coordinates for this cache. A pretty quick find - and horrendously late log :/

Was observing this Used2B and the owner came out to see the dogs - spent about 10mins chatting to them about the many renovations that they have done over the 14 years they have lived there. Back to Wednesday Wandering for some members of the Befuddled Puzzle Solving Group. We gathered at the Rat Nest and myself, Blackadders and S.A. Sewer Rats headed out for a day of caching in and around Lefevre Peninsular. Razz Except for one cache that is currently off line and 1 DNF we managed to find all we looked for. Big Grin As usual there were a few laughs, a picnic lunch and these are the caches we found [B)]Cool

Another Used 2B, another Date, another round of maths in which the check sum worked and another usual spot for the cache. [^] Naturally it was in the very first place I felt. Smile

Only one of the three goals from last year achieved. Twisted So once again trying and fill my calendar with multi-caches and complete loop 11 again this year. [^] For my third goal I will try and get my DNF numbers from over fifty to single digits. Cool That should keep me busy again this year! [:o)]

***Thanks Freddo for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. *** Big Grin

We had high hopes that we'd make a few finds on the church micros in this neighbourhood, but alas, this was the only one we managed to score today (others seemed to be either missing or too hard to attempt due to high muggle traffic). One is still better than none and this was an easy grab after some quick calculations Smile TNLNSL TFTC

Do stay safe when caching.
Lookout for mud, snakes, random cliffs, wild goats, wombats, bulldust, and lightning,
try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins... but especially lookout for bugs. [xx(]

Ensure just Travel Bugs are the only ones you share and pass on Big Grin

2020 turned into 2020won, and 2020too is on the way! 2020free should see us through Razz

Still important to observe social distancing when possible, (150 nano caches apart should do it)
Still important to wash your hands (always has been really [:o)]
Still very important to look after each other and take precautions & get checked out for even the tiniest sniffle or cough, or unexpected headache! [8)] [B)]

Still even more important to get some fresh air and exercise while we can, so get out and cache the country!

Thanks so much to all those placing caches out and about away from the city crowds,
keeps our game safe and interesting Cool

The find was easy once there although I recommend some gloves as there are lots of 8 legged red striped keepers for this cache.

This evening being nice and sunny, I decided to head north-west to Semaphore and Port Adelaide. My target had been the *North Parade, Port Adelaide. Historical Walk* and one of the *The Forgotten Children* Adventure Lab Locations. I ended up visiting more geocaches than I had planned due to the nice weather, and otherwise it was a good walk around Port Adelaide to finish off my night.

I had jogged from the other used 2B church around the corner in order to get to this location, as I figured it was a nice enough night to maximise my fitness. I managed to find the required year reasonably quickly, even though I had deduced the numbers and GZ back home anyway (but I still wanted to visit the posted coordinates to see the church). I did also find two rather friendly cats there too, which was a bonus.

After returning to my car, I drove up and parked near GZ, and so once I started searching, I found the cache reasonably quickly. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Freddo the Non-Believer for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

What a lovely Sunday! Weather is beautiful! I and J plus the little one went to Port Adelaide and surroundings to find some playground to enjoy. Found 18 caches on the way, including traditional, multi, and mystery caches. Also, collected two souvenirs of the "Wonders of the World" activity.

This was the 13th find for the day, also the 4th multi cache for the day. Parked in front of the church, and found the information required. After a short calculation, I got the final location. Drove to the final location, and found the cache in a classic spot.

Signed the log, and placed it back.
