Visiting Whakatane from Auckland on a long weekend, Sunday afternoon and heading home. Stopped here for a break to see the water, nice walk and quick find. TFTC
Nice easy find. Haven't been here before so stopped to walk the dog and find a cache or 2
Lovely day for a walk around the beach. Not too many muggles. Came with locals who say that this track has been developed over the past few years. Didn't used to have car park even. Tftc
A quick find here. Added some paper as the log was mush. T4tC young_girls_nz,Civvnr&MissTreadlightly....(UK) Geocaching.com finds so far 11406
Easily found, the log is pretty wet and full, unfortunately I didn't have anything...TFTC
After logging a DNF three years ago we were very pleased to return today and turn it into a smiley. It was a feeling of Deja Vu as we parked in the exact same spot we did on our last visit and this was enhanced by seeing a lady that we had seen a few hours earlier when we had breakfast in Waihi. It really is a small world. The walk to GZ was very pleasant and once there we made a nice quick find.Afterwards we headed over to the boat ramp which was partially covered in water as the tide was coming in and we remembered a car had been stuck out on it last time we were here. It seemed they had parked there and not expected the tide to come up so high. We hope they managed to sort it out at the time. But this time there were no cars or boats and we walked out along it as far as we could. Thanks young_girls_nz for bringing us to this lovely spot
Staying in the motorhome at the nearby Freedom Camping spot for the first time, noticed some geocaches in the area so geopup Finn and I went for an explore. Knew we were in the right place as a previous hunter has lost their pen. A quick find as the container was just peeping out of the leaf litter and some of the camouflage was missing, a white bit showing. Log is full but found a small gap at the top of the sheet to sign. Log damp and in need of replacement. A beautiful spot, even on a dull cloudy day like today. TFTC.
Unfortunately there were some muggles having a picnic at the site. Will scope it out some other time.
We were staying at the freedom camping spot mentioned, so I headed out fairly early in the morning to get the two caches in this direction.
No problems finding this one which was thankfully on the opposite side to the doggie poo back left in the tree.
Thanks for putting it here

Stopped for a walk down the path. Quick find and lovely views. Log filling up. TFTC
Ā nice quick find and just along from where we are freedom camping for the night. TFTC
Nice easy find with ABCDF4 whilst out on a trail walk. Found one here a wee while ago. TFTC.
Found this one, in between passing muggles - there were plenty of people out dog-walking after the dreadful weather over the weekend. Thanks for the placement.
We got spotted retrieving the cache by a dog, the owner was a fair distance away. TFTC
#30 for the year. Good to come back to this lovely spot & grab the cache. Turn bluey to yellow. Tftc
Thanks young_girls_nz for the cache. It’s #1543 for us. We found your cache on 16 October 2021. Quick find while stretching our legs
Nice area. Didn’t know about this walkway. Introducing a workmate to the world of geocaching. Thanks.
Unfortunately did not find this one today with kimbathelion. The co-ordinates were jumping around. But had a really good look at ‘tree’
#996 - Girls trip with Taschynz to get as many caches in Katikati area. Lovely area to walk, nice quick find here.
Out a day of adventures with katbowersnz getting them all in Katikati. Nice and quick find
Out for a ride now that all those pesky school kid muggles have gone back to school. A quicker find than we thought here as the black paint was wearing off. Thanks Young_girls_nz for hiding this in a beautiful place to visit. Hope you're enjoying your day and all the best for the year to come.
Found it on a glorious day.didnt see any of the great white sharks reported in the harbor.
Couldn't find yesterday but then found my GPS had been loaded with this one ages back when it was still at the old location. An easy find today at the right tree.
Thank you. David.
Thank you. David.

No worries with this find, although we did take the odd way to it, walked along the beach and then had to scramble up the bank!!
A fair few Freedom campers camped up here tonight ready to see in the new year.

Coordinates changed from:
S 37° 32.826 E 175° 57.055
Coordinates changed to:
S 37° 32.799 E 175° 57.032
Distance from original: 198.4 feet or 60.5 meters.
The previous cache container disappeared, likely because it wasn't a great hiding spot. Have relocated this to a neighbouring tree, hence updating the coords.

Decided to introduce the grandkids to geocaching by exploring this walkway and picking up these five caches along the way.
Another DNF, not too devastated as there has been a series of DNFs here.

Our second DNF here today. But it gives us a good reason to come back.
We had quite a thorough search in many nooks and crannies but just couldn't find the right one.

Nope this one got the better of us today - no luck at all. I'll be back another time....
Came from Tauranga to do some cycle trails, but the windy, wet weather stopped us from getting on our bikes. We retired to a local cafe while it poured, but then the sun came out for a peek, so we took the opportunity for a caching walk instead! Delighted to find this well-stashed beauty without getting ourselves too wet. Cache is all good. TFTC
Headed over this way to clear a few non-smilies off the map with Cats&Dragons. The plan was to start in Waihi and head South along the coast and see how far we can get before our other halves call and tell us to head home. To make the most of this a 4am start was on the cards to cram as much caching in as possible.
Had a good look here, but no luck today.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap) and nieces... We have revised and updated our Caching Hit List for 2020 - This is a collection of hides we really want to tackle while we have summer holidays and Daylight Saving... Our plan is to incorporate at least some of these caches into our adventures. Our big Hit List target for today was to tackle the NTA Trail at Aongatete. However, Gap had some commitments around town which meant a small tweak to the plan - Instead of a morning walk, let's do it this afternoon...
Up to this point, we had managed to stay out of the sun, but there was no escaping the hot conditions for the next hour or so. Fortunately, there was a good onshore breeze to take the heat down a notch, otherwise this walk may have been unbearable... Our first stop was within a stand of trees and the shade was welcoming. There weren't too many spots to match the hint, and a quick scratch dislodged the hide. Thanks young_girls_nz and TFTC.

On this side of town with a few hours to kill and I spotted a couple of stray caches in need of smileys. This cache was found quickly and in good condition thanks to accurate coords and a straight forward placement. Judging by the log book I wasn’t the only one out and about today. Cheers & TFTC
Phew!
This one nearly got the better of me!
Had to resort to a pokey stick for help...
Thanks girls for this new cache....remember coming here for a previous one!

I'm not sure how long this will last in this position because there is an awful lot of muggle sign in the form of alcopop cans. Too many to CITO without a bin liner. I know this was clear last month as I CITOed it myself. I'll have to leave that to someone else today unfortunately. Anyway, TFTC.
