Works are ongoing and the hide location has been demolished so I'm archiving this one.

Council currently has this area fenced off with works in progress.
I will check again in a few weeks to see whether or not the hide can be replaced.

A super easy find.. the cache was laying out in the open. The good thing about these containers, they shouldn't attract inquisitive muggles. Replaced in the typical troll hide. TFTC GeocachingTownsville.

We were in Townsville Australia for the day on Holland America’s Amsterdam. We saw that there were many caches along the biking/walking trail along the Ross River. So we took a taxi about 7 miles out of the city and started our geocaching walk back to the port from there.
It did not start out well, as the first cache took us through some high grass, muddy and flooded area, and to a totally mosquito-infested area by the river - and it was raining. We did not take our repellent with us, not knowing how many mosquitos there were. On top of that we had to log a DNF, after a long but unsuccessful search for the cache.
We walked the muddy trail to the second cache and the mosquitos all around that area and it was still raining. We did find the cache quickly and moved on.
The next cache finally took us up onto the paved trail, out of the woods, and a few less mosquitos. By that time we were tired of all of the mosquitos. So Marbles walked to the nearest house, knocked on the door, and asked if he could buy any mosquito repellent they might have. The owners were very nice to us. They would not sell it to us, but brought out two cans of spray and let us put as much as we wanted on ourselves. We had a nice chat with them and moved on.
The rest of the day went much better – It stopped raining, the mosquitos stopped bothering us, and all of the other caches were either on or just off the paved trail. By the end of the day we found 26 caches and only added one more DNF.

Thank you to GeocachingTownsville for 15 of the caches in the RRPT trail series, OzGeoker for 3, choppersrule for 2, and the other 6 COs for their efforts and for their caches.

Out on the leap year to log some hides.

Despite the rain these containers are holding up well. I’m not holding up as well against the mozzies.

For our very first GeoCache, it was the perfect one to do. It wasn’t to hard to find, but wasn’t easy either. You’ve got to have a keen eye. Thanks for an amazing start to our new addiction.

Emigrated to North Queensland for Christmas - opened up the map from our temporary home .... and nada! The geo-nephew has moved into a geo-wilderness. This one was essentially the closest one - some km or so hike through waist-high reptile filled grass and the clambering of a couple of fences, a railway line and crossing a crocodile infested river .... and here I am doing this at midday in mid-summer furnace heat. Reckon I earned the T2!

Trolls? I eat trolls for breakfast. That reminds me, I skipped breakfast (saving up for Christmas dinner).

Thanks GeocachingTownsville for entertaining me at this location.
Cool *{Overall find #7207}* Cool

Has been an up and down sort of a day. Managed to solve a cypher i hadn’t come across without the aid of an OCR text retrieving app, and found an app to do the other conversion, only to be thwarted by a gazillion rocks in the area that the gps signal wanted me to be, sometimes. I did manage to find my dwarf bearded dragon, having thought him long dead in the vent of the work vehicle. Seems he managed to make it out, was looking a little worse for wear, but nothing a good feed of crickets won’t fix in a few weeks. Also waved to the free hanging portfolio holder from above the first fork before a required rethink of my strategy and timing became evident, so i wondered down to pick up Troll 1, a quick cache to find that has only had 3 visits. Happy to say it was mozzie free, compared to a few others in this park. I’m sure the guy on the bike was a little surprised to find a troll sitting in the dark on the bridge, but was friendly enough, so was allowed to pass. The toll is a bit cheaper these days. , especially after logging todays daily, finally. TFTC.

Wait... a new Geocache? I was so excited for the possibility of being the first to find.
I quickly got into my geomobile and off I went.
After a quick smoother of sunscreen and I was on my way.

I was told to drive on a dirt road. Nope! My little geomobile wouldn’t like that at all. I parked and began the walk to the GZ - after sending the waypoint to the geohusband (just in case I got murdered). I found out that the dirt road has been blocked by a large suspicious pile of rocks... not geocache related.
I did a complete bush bash to the GZ, found the prize to find out that there was a concrete path all along... of course
Thanks for bringing me here Burgo and my first FTF
