Find # 15804Been a while since I've been out solo for a long trip. But things change over time. And I'm living the past.So with some time off work, I've jumped the border wall to chase down some long trails in South Aussie... don't know how many I'll get. But I've got quite a few downloaded. I do have a short hit list ( of 2) caches to help with a challenge. All others are just for the Adventure and countryside views. Armed with all the necessary TOTT from tweezers and magnet grab to 6m ladder and 8m fishing pole. I believe I'm prepared for all that I'll come across. (Just had to leave the Kayak at home )Day 5. After a cold night at the Maggea Oval.. I was off on another days hunting. But decided to turn things around as I started in Loxton (after getting supplies) and tackle the trail backwards from original plan. TFTC Scholz3290
Motorhoming around in winter and finding a cache here and there. A cold wind blowing today. TFTC
Time for another Tuesday Trekking, for a trio of Confused Puzzlers. The trio consisted of SA Sewer Rats, ttrogg and Brisal5.Plan A, ttrogg to pick up the Rat from her nest, then head out to Brisal5's place.Change geomobiles, and to Loxton, to have lunch and cache.Change of plans, plan B.Head to Alawoona, for lunch and caches, maintenance.Hmm an other change of plans. Plan C.Let's start at Paruna, have lunch and start caching and maintenance. This was quickly located.Logbook stamped and replaced where it was found. Tftc
Today it was time for another Terrific Tuesday Mystery Trek. This time after picking up the Rat from her nest we headed for the Starfish's pool from where we set out for the day in the Starfish's vehicle. The main aim was some maintenance on the Wandering Heroes Trail around Alawoona but the plan was quite flexible, it's good to be flexible, and we headed straight for Paruna. Managed to clear the small settlement, had lunch at a suitable GZ, then started the much slower journey back to where we'd come from. A suitable number of caches were found and this was one that we all wanted. After wondering what to expect it was another quick find. Thanks to Scholz3290 for adding to the playing field with this cache.Cache #14969 for me.*This log composed and published using GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife).*
Something special or unusual goes here:Nice spot to visit and made a quick find on the cache. The Generic Bit:The usual trio of puzzle solvers were available for Tuesday Trekking today. Ttrogg and Mrs. S.A. Sewer Rats Starfishes pond today so we could set out eastwards to do some maintenance on the Wandering Heroes trail and of course collect a few caches on the way.. A lot of driving and quite a few caches visited and checked or maintained, yet we were still able to have a full day of laughs, adventures and a picnic lunch. ***Thanks Scholz3290 for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. *** Logs prepared and published through GSAK.
Was so glad to find this one as a consolation prize for failing both town multis haha
Day one of a Mega couple of weeks. The day has come for LB and I to go on yet another road trip. Look out Canberra, here we come After leaving Adelaide we headed out towards the Barossa Valley, stopped in a parking bay where we had lunch and then continued down the road until we got here. A quick find away from the random, very sad looking ute.TFTC Scholz3290Keep smiling
We are enjoying a brief holiday in SA from Victoria after meeting up with caching friends. This was a nice spot to pull over for a stretch and sign a cache.Thank you for your cache.
Overnite stop at Paruna Caravan Park. Grabbed on a walk around town. Easily found and cache in good condition.

I have been to this historical looking village before but today while passing by I decided to look for this cache. A quick find was made. Thank you for bringing me to this interesting area.
Located this cache quickly due to perfect co ords. An interesting little town with some history. Thanks Scholz3290.
If we'd been asked a few hours previously where Paruna was we wouldn't have known but after travelling all day and the caravan park sign looms up, it's the place we couldn't wait to pull in to to stay the night.

Well there was an event I saw published in Bordertown hosted by Roaming Howie and since I was able to have 4 days off I decided to head over to attend the event and then to also do a few of the On Ya Bike series to finish off my D/T loop.
Throw a few oldies into the mix for my Ausmer grid and it was going to be a busy weekend with lots of Km’s.
After a good nights sleep and a walk around the park I made it to the event.
So after catching up with a couple of Vic’s and a couple of SA’s it was time to head North towards Loxton and to start chasing the caches that I’m after.
It is starting to warm up now and they did say it was going to reach 42 up around here.
A tad hot to be out caching but a find is a find and I think that the heat was getting to me as this one took longer than it should have.
If the trough had water in it I would have gone for a dip.
Big things are continuing to happen! Are you joining the fun again in 2023?

We parked near the memorial park to fallen soldiers and walked across the road to find the old troughs. Interesting display here. Wandered back to find the cache. Added our names and continued on our way.

Travelling from Walpeup to Robertstown in South Australia, we stopped at Paruna as we had stayed here in the past, but could not quite remember where. The camping ground was easily located, as was the cache.
Out for a whole lot of fun caching around the back roads with Mattycat today, a quick find on this rather hot day

Sir_spectre and I had a quick getaway to the Riverland. We were targetting the less found caches. We found an assortment of caches, and as regular for us manged to replace containers for several and put some fresh logbooks in others. It was a rather hot weather for a weekend of caching but the air conditioned car gave us some relief.

quick find and the first of this series.
Out with the Mogni for a short trip out to the riverland, only 3 days. It was hot first 2 days where 40 degrees and the last day was 33 degrees. Since the rules just changed about covid 19 testing before and after entering vic to no testing, we changed our plans on the way up and decided to go via Murray Sunset National Park. The idea was to find as many caches as we could that haven't been found recently most hadn't been found in 3 months. On day 1 we replaced 10 out of the first 12 caches, all broken container and 1 log book replaced, and by the end of the day had a heaped medium bin liner bag full of broken containers, the hot mallee sun doesn't do the plastic containers any good. Day 2 saw us caching around Loch Luna and lake Bonney which is way easier driving around here in the dry then in the rain like my last visit here. Onlt 1/2 a medium bin liners back of replaced containers today, people must fix the closer to the highway caches more often. On day 3 it was back in to the mallee country and home via Pinnaroo. Getting those " out of the way caches ". Plenty of dirt roads where driven down and many, many back sandy tracks taken. It was good to explore all the country areas and stay off the highway.

Heading back home to Queensland and we stopped to do this cache. Sure is quiet out here. Our thanks to Scholz3290 for placing this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area.
As I am getting older and running out of time, I have decided I will take off on my own to cache in different areas of our vast country as my NGW (Non Geocaching Wife) has no interest in caching.
I have been up to Loxton for five days of full on caching with suscoe, au.fait and Phetlern and still have so many caches to log.
Heading east of Loxton with the crew we found this guy. Ross tells me that we travelled at least 250 km today.
I am afraid that for the next few days my logs are going to be a lot of cutting and pasting but that does not take away the effort that the owners have put in to provide these caches for us to find so please accept my thanks. With close to 200 caches placed I know how much work is involved with not only placing them but the ongoing maintenance.
I called into this guy on the way to Loxton and again with the group today.
Thanks, Scholz3290 for placing this cache.

Another great day of caching, with Bushfire, au.fait & Suscoe, in the Riverland - between Loxton and that infamous border! The expanse of the farmland is amazing the ruins dotted along the roadsides adding interesting snap shots of local history.

Suscoe headed out this morning in the terrific company of au.fait, Phetlern and Bushfire for a caching adventure to the east of Loxton.
It was a warm morning which turned into a farily hot afternoon.
We travelled around 250 kms and found a lovely range of caches in some interesting locations.
The roads were fairly quiet but we did pass quite a few shingle back lizards, who were making their way across the roads that we travelled along.
Thanks to Scholz3290 for this hide, good to find this one as well.

Day 4 of my road trip with biggles1024 and today was time to head for home with only one task remaining for the return trip but also we were stopping at random caches along the way to break up the trip and to get different LGA’s along the way.
We stopped at this one and were soon signing the log book at GZ.
As there were only 3 in this area, we decided to find them all.
