checked on this one this morning and it is ok but a little musty, when first placed you could park much closer. Dropped a minon themed trackable.

On the trip to Townsville from Emerald, we stopped in some towns along the way.Here's one to find today.Thank you for placing the cache Cachedin NQ.

Departed Melbourne several weeks ago now and have been travelling north for the winter, well, for the northern warmth actually (hopefully ), passing through as many small towns as I can grabbing the odd cache here and there as I travel.
Finally made the northern warmth and the Cape and we have loved every minute of it now we are on our way home again and having many more adventures as we slowly travel south.
Spending a few extra days in Townsville now due to a cracked chassis and tow bar mount, due to get fixed this week before we can move on again.
Out on a day trip today heading from Townsville to Charters Towers and back grabbing caches here there and everywhere
Back on the highway again, this was another quick find!

I was quite in need for a pitstop and this cache was near enough (well, sort of ) for a walk back. Once at GZ, it was a quick find at 11:45 and I was on my way back to the car.

Very easy find along the road. Box looks muddy but its just painted grey, inside was all dry and clean. Lots of goodies for kids and plenty of space for a trackable. Even our 10 year old, who finds Geo caching a waste of time, liked this cache. Tftc

Heading back after a great weekend I had to stop and do at least one cache on the way! Loved all the minion swag in the container.

A short move today from Townsville to Charters Towers. This was to put the car under load from the recent repairs. Arrived all good, so now we can rest easy and continue our slow trek home. Picking up a few along the way.

Another wet morning around charters towers. After a night under the canvas with non-stop rain, we emerged dry, but the ground underfoot is very wet and muddy. We hope the rain doesn’t stick around for too long, although I’m sure the land is happy to have this at the moment.
Given the wet weather and occasional squalls today, The car seemed like a good option, so after a slow start to the day we drove to this one.
Log signed. Love those minions. Looks like another family of relatives similar to the minions we saw on our way to Rockhampton.

After our week in Townsville for the mega we are heading out to Charters Towers for a few days before heading south for home!
Joined up with Hans and Linda and cached our way to CT via Ravenswood. Even with the temperature hanging around 36c we had a successful day with only one DNF.
Thanks to the CO's for the hides and showing many different places.

Specially targeted this one on the way home as it is a letterbox.

After spending a week in Townsville, we are back on the road, to Charters Towers via Ravenswood today. We are doing this with HansandLinda. We found the cache and signed the log. Thoroughly enjoyed visiting the caches. TFTC

TFTC. Today we were leaving Townsville after a week enjoying the Mega and caching. We planned to head back to Maryborough via Charters Towers and Emerald. We joined up with Richmond Lad and JooJoo57 to cache our way to Charters Towers with a detour to Ravenswood. A successful day with 30 finds and one DNF.

Found as part of the Qld Cache mega event weekend in Townsville over Easter 2022. Joined forces with Gunnie69 after flying up from Brisbane to tackle a variety of caches around the Townsville area including three GeoArt series, other puzzles and a few labs! I would like to thank all the cache owners who are making this an enjoyable weekend!



Today we trekked out along the Flinders Highway to the historical town of Charters Towers. Enjoyed some of the sights, old buildings, occasional wildlife and of course lunch at a local pub!

A break away from the event city for a chunk of the day, by heading down to Charters Towers. Only one cache Ghostgums and I wanted on the way down, apart from the labs of course.

A short walk from the convenient parking space and the cache was quickly located in the obvious hidey hole. Name and sticker added to the log, it was tucked back and we continued the journey south.

Day 7 of our trek to the Townsville Mega and back with fitzy_1965 and two of my geo-kids Death_killer & my_name_jeff_1.

The long awaited day we drive into Townsville! We did a bit of caching around Charters Towers before leaving. Definitely some great caching there and some good Adventure Labs worth doing. A simple drive to Townsville: we are all happy to finally be here. The kids were very glad to have a quick dip in the pool at the Motel before some rest before all things Mega kicking off tomorrow.

All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned.

Day 7 of our Townsville Trek, and we cached our way around Charters Towers again during the morning, before doing the short journey to Townsville for the main event (literally !). A couple of neat Adventure Labs were completed, as well as their bonus caches (one a real doozy) plus some other must do caches along the way. This one was a fun Letterbox Hybrid to do. Quick find once at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache, then continued along to the next cache on our list.

The adventures geocaching has taken me on certainly has at times brought out my inner-child! Who can say no to climbing trees, jumping in puddles, balancing on logs, ducking and weaving through bush, coming face to face with wildlife, being one with nature, embarking on long walks, scampering up cliff faces and then there is all of the sand, mud and rocks you often get to play with too whilst searching for that prized little container and logbook! Geocaching has brought all sorts of experiences into my life.

Team Crackers, Micaparamedic, Papi4596 and I are making slow progress towards the Mega in Townsvlle. We are having a fantastic time finding caches with a little bit of touristing in between.
Townsville can be seen on the horizon ahead but there is always time for one more on the way.
This was a nice quick find even though others tried to foil our find.

Catching up with late logs.

Heading to the mega event in Townsville with micaparamedic, Geoturtle37 & Papi4506 we left Charters Towers this morning with a destination of Townsville picking up any cache that may appear on the map.

We thought that this was a very strange spot to find Minions but then again we nothing of them or where they hang out, perhaps this is the norm.
We figured the least that we could do was to say good day to them so we headed out in hunt of the letter box and once found dropped our names in to let them know we had visited.

To save room in the smaller logs we signed as "The Vics"

A quick find on the way to Townsville. It's almost Mega time!!!!

We (Team Tour de Ville - TMZ59, Patrol14, Peppa and I ) headed north to Townsville for the MEGA Event and explore the surrounding areas. Today it was the day to visit Charter's Towers and Ravenswood and pick up a few caches along the way. A lot of history in these towns. Cache found on the way back to Townsville, log signed before replacing as found. TFTC

With TMZ59 as co-pilot and Patrol14 and Imbunda in the back, we’re off to Charters Towers via Ravenswood for a bit of hysterical, sorry historical, learning…

Back in Brisbane, I created a list… everyone does… it wasn’t as long as others, but it would certainly keep us busy… if only we could stick to it…

With an event to attend in Townsville we had to leave and head back earlier than we might of otherwise… and with very specific instructions of not to be late from the hostess with the mostest (Chamad) we were on a tight timeline…

Day 8 of the road trip to Townsville to with LuckyL10n and today it was a drive from Townsville out to Charters Towers.

A quieter day than others on the trip, but that was due to the different types. Puzzles, WIG's and Multi's were the order of the day. A couple of trads of course as went right past them....and we couldn't leave them could we?

Left CT around 2.30 and head for Cardwell to help fill in a few counties up towards Carins and the Tablelands. All up, another great day.

#13901 - 8:57:00 AM; Day eight of the Townsville Mega adventure with Sol de lune. Made it through to Townsville last night and headed out to Charters Towers to try our hand at the variety of cache types in the area today. Managed 30 finds for the day on the way to and from and around the town in Charters Towers, with one DNF. Cache types we found included Adventure Labs, Letterbox Hybrids, Trads, Multis, Unknown (Puzzle), Wherigos, a virtual and an earthcache. All caches were found in good order unless noted in the log and where required each has been signed L.L10n & Sdl or vice versa. Apologies for the largely generic logs [:o)] TFTC Cachedin NQ

I had decided that today would be a trip to Charters Towers to collect a few types for the day, dragged my mum out and put the invite out to chamad as well which he accepted. With no real plans we found ourselves collecting everything on our way leaving a swathe of smiles behind us.

Saw the minions after we completed the mailbox - then it made sense.

I was invited on an early morning drive with Sheridan (from Jacs Team) and Vic (from Waz and Vic) for some caches in the Charters Towers area. We had no set plans, just a few on a wish list and a few we both had solved. It was again another fun day with these two ladies. I like caching with these two, the simplicity in our caching day, the stories, the banter and the laughs were just all day; nothing is a problem, thank you.

We collected some nice caches and a very different adventure lab on the way in from Townsville, we even left a fun little multi for our return home. The day saw us collecting a whereigo, some trads, a couple of old caches, some nice D/T caches. There was a virtual and a couple of puzzles, some more adventure labs, a bite to eat and a stop off to collect some Shinny little disc thingies. An absolute great day. All logs were signed with the three names and all caches replaced as found.

Like all geocachers, I’m taking the scenic, slow route to Townsville. Along the way we detoured for, amongst many others, this geocache.

As it was one of the more unusual cache types, we decided to stop and find it.

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 4. Townsville Mega section Day 4. The drive continued from Emerald to Townsville, via Clermont and Charters towers. There is a long stretch of nothing in there, and I had no caches to do till Charters towers. Here I did labs and where-i-gos. I even managed to meet a few fellow traveling cachers before moving on to my lodging in Townsville, time for a swim after setting up !

Found as I made my way up to the Townsville Mega from Adelaide.

I camped last night near Charters Towers, then finished doing the caches around the town that were of interest to me this morning before heading east.

It had been another warm and humid day, but fortunately the only caches requiring any sort of a walk were completed this morning before it got too unpleasant.

All of the caches, including this one were found without difficulty and were in good condition.

A highway patrol officer had pulled someone over coming the opposite direction a couple hundred metres up the highway! I was never going to come back on this road again though, so stopped for this cache!

Wondered if the police would notice me stopped here and strangely walking over to the cache, but I don't think they did! I signed the log and was on my way, luckily the officer was still busy with the car they had stopped!

Day 5 of my road trip from Canberra - Townsville Mega Event!

Today was laid back, I had made excellent time and only needed to get from Pentland - Townsville! I spent almost the entire day in Charters Towers! I initially only had a couple of caches planned, but I fell in love with the caching and town itself and ended up spending all the time I could until I had to be in Townsville to meet someone at the airport!

Wow, caching in Charters Towers was just fantastic, super high quality hides and a very cool town with lots to see. It was a highlight of my trip!

Day 22 of our 2022 Northern escape tour via Normanton and Cairns to attend the Townsville MEGA. We used this pre event day to travel out to Charters Towers to complete our LGA areas visited planned for this trip. Still some to do post event heading south along the coast.
I was wondering if those in the general store were still in use. Added green and red smile to my log book and mixed along. Added favourite, visited trackables and took one.

Day 22 of adventure to Townsville Mega. A trip to Charters Tower today picking up a few caches in the area. Quick find. Stamped log and replaced. To CO. Took a trackable.

Latest roadworks are done and cache is still in place. You used to be able to park next to it, now there is a big drain in the way! Changing terrain a smidge and adding a parking point. Discovered TB's.

Still can't check on this due to roadworks, which are progressing. Hopefully back online in a few weeks.

The good news is the minions are back and multiplying, also the stump remains. It will take at least another month to determine if the cache remains and is accessible. There are still substantial roadworks here.

Drove through here in the dark yesterday and it looks like they are digging up the road, again and the cache is blocked off. Signs say a couple of months to December, may not be able to check on it until then.

Spending a few days in Charters Towers. After breakfast, I decided to head out to Ravenswood. On the way, I detoured to this cache. It was quickly located and the log signed. I left a couple of TBs to continue their journey. TFTC

After staying in Charters Towers for a few days it was time to head off and thanks to the rain last night an easterly direction was chosen. This was the next as I travelled east and as I pulled in towards GZ wondered if the new fence works had taken GZ. But I soon saw what the hint referred to and once I checked soon found the cache.

Once the log was signed all was returned as found.

Day 12 of my road trip, heading from Emerald to Townsville.
After making an early start i grabbed some caches along the way, and saw this mailbox. I love a mailbox cache, so had to stop in to collect it.
Arriving at gz I found the cache super quickly. With the log signed and cache replaced as found, I jumped back in the car and was back on the road before the next lot of cars got the green light at the nearby roadworks.

Quick stop to stretch the legs and use the rest area across the highway. Found in one of the most likely spots and quickly added our names to the log.

Retrieved the TB and will take with us to Townsville. Added a smiley to the map and a to the cache SL TFTH
